Anything official, so either the Android 5.1 Google Play Edition port from Scrubber, or official Sony 5.1.1 that was released just a few days ago. I've been using the GPe port for a longer period of time, and it's fairly bulletproof. There are however a couple of minor bugs that won't ruin the experience, but bugs that are fixed in 5.1.1. I've used the newly released 5.1.1 update from Sony, and I haven't had any issues with it, and neither have I stumbled upon any bugs.
- Here's the GPe port (aka "clean" Android)
- You can either flash something like this if you want the official 5.1.1 update, or update yourself through PC Companion or Flashtool.

Hello,
I have got stock i9300 without root and I am considering rooting and flashing some ROM with the latest version of Android. But I don´t want to do that if there is no ROM ready for everyday using? What is your advices? Thank you

It depends on what your 'everyday using' means. For me this ROM works great. [ROM][Feb 18][4.4.2] I9300 AOSP NeatROM v3.1
There are still bugs in all 4.4 Roms and will be until Samsung release their official one (or we get a leak)

I have tested Teamasek CM 11. This Rom is very smooth and fast and have many Features. But all AOSP or CM Roms are a little buggy.
ok, thanks... I prefer stable to new. I will wait for the well working ROMs. Thanks for your responses
I was just wondering if now that there is a 4.4.2 ota out for the DNA that it will make the custom roms more stable? I updated to it and kept root and it doesn't seem to be any different and I hate the stock ui. Want to go back to a custom Rom but they all seem to have some issue or other that gets old over time so I end up crack flashing everything on here every few days haha.

Yea I saw that a couple days ago. Guess I worded it wrong. Now that the droid has a stock 4.4.2 will the developers be able to take whatever parts they need from it to fix the bugs etc on custom roms? Or will the DNA having the 4.4.2 radio and kernels etc will it make the custom roms such as the m7 and m8 ports and Google editions of 4.4.2 more stable?
HTC did in fact release the 442 kernel source, so new 442 Roms will be stable and I can fix z and my beast mode kernel

4.4.2 Sense based ROMs definitely should be much better. The CM based ones probably not a big difference.

how about the gpe m8 port?
I am using the latest Pacman kitkat nightly and i am very satisfied with it.
I read the official KK rom is laggy. Is that true.
Any reasons for switching back to the original Rom?

mhl to hdmi does not work on custom roms (at least seems so..)
i'm planning to test a stock rom, maybe 4.3 since i can't find 4.4 for sgp311 and i can't update via pc companion since i unlocked bootloader.
apart from mhl issue i think ppls are very happy with custom roms so not many reasons to go back to stock.
Not finding much lag here, but YMMV. If you're happy with pacman stick with it. But, if you flash anyways you can always give stock 4.4.2 a try!

Hello,
I am trying to find an official ROM for my GT-I9100 phone ( Europe )
As far as I understood, the latest official ROM for this phone is 4.1.2 ( Src: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9100 )
Is there a way to install an "official" 4.4 ROM for this phone with Odin ? I can only find *really* customized one, like cyanmogen, slim etc... which I don't want.
Which ROM would you recommend close to the official one?
Many thanks
Last really official rom was 4.1.2

You're right...
The last official ROM was 4.1.2
There are some ROM developed on the last builds (the official ones) like NeatRom http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/development-derivatives/rom-neatrom-lite-extralite-themed-aroma-t1569686, but are 4.1.2
Actually there are no official roms after 4.1.2
All others rom after that version are developed at least without Samsung's interface TouchWiz so the look is different (and are lacking all the specific Samsung's app)
Thanks Tarma,
Do you know why ROM after 4.1.2 are developed without the touchwiz interface ( at least for my phone GT-9100 ) ?
Basically, why can't we find a barely tweaked 4.4 ROM working on a GT-9100 ?
Many thanks

This rom has touchwiz implemented with some galaxy s5 themes. Although it's still based on 4.1.2 it looks like 4.4.
In phone information it also says 4.4 but don't get fooled, it's still 4.1.2

Thanks Muthzer.
However, I need Android 4.4 as I need to debug Android apps using Chrome remote debugging ( https://developer.chrome.com/devtools/docs/remote-debugging )
Do you know why there is no 4.4 implemented with touchwiz ?

Hmm that's a good question. I'm no developer though, but I thought a while about it.
It would be wrong to say it'an official rom for galaxy s2, cause official ended with 4.1.2 and everything beyond there is built by non Samsung people.
To be honest I have no clue why there is no 4.4 based rom with touchwiz and now where u ask I'm interested too. Maybe it'd be an idea to ask a developer personally about that.
Only thing I can think is it has something to do with the Samsung specific apps which source codes may not be published.
Earlier when I installed a custom rom on 4.3 I missed the radio and also the feature to play wma files on music player.
Suggestion I got was to go back to stock-based rom.
So I think the devs just have no source code for Samsung stuff and thus they can't put it into other roms.
But as long as they r just tweaking the original one (4.1.2) which already has everything into it, it's possible.

No TouchWiz >4.1.2

TouchWiz is the Samsung's proprietary interface developed for their products I don't think any source code is available to developer's community.
I've tried some rom without Touchwiz, but are always lacking something. I'm happy with my NeatRom based on the latest Firmware available by Samsung, rooted and working like a charm
I rooted my friends note 3 when it was on 4.3 now he wants to try and get a better rom with good battery, just wondering if I can flash a 4.4 rom on it and have no issues or will I have to return it to a rock update it them reroot and custom recover it?

Well 4.3 is NAB, you should have no problem with a 4.4 based rom. There are several great roms MOAR v5, PAC-man, and Priest Punch just to name a few. If it was me I would update to 4.4.2 NC5 stock rooted, debloat it and tailor it for a daily user, then make a backup of it so you have a base to work from. If you update to 4.4.4 NH7 make sure that roms you choose have updated to a 4.4.4 base. Here is a link that should answer your questions http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/general/samsung-note-3-rom-flashin-basics-t2896440 Enjoy !!!
