Hello all ,
I just got my S6 edge a week ago and here I have some questions I wanna ask the older owners about . Most of the points may have been discussed before . I did my best to reach a final point in it but at the end , I thought I would share my thoughts with the adepts here
1)the first and biggest concern here is the heating issue . I read a lot about how this phone can get hot . some says this is normal . some says it isn't . some went and got a replacement which were good . some still have the same issue after all . here is my experience . the phone really gets hot so so fast . even while doing light - normal tasks . I always get it so warm after few minutes of normal use. if I continue using it for more minutes , it can reach a level where it is so unpleasant to hold or even unbearable . Numbers wise , from the Samsung phone info app , when the phone is just boot up the phones chip set temperature is 40 degree Celsius . after I did some lights tasks like updating some apps or downloading some themes , the temperature crazily jumped to over 70 degree Celsius !!! by then the phone was really hot and is hard to keep holding in your hand . I tried what people said solving this problem like factory resetting and clearing the cache put no way . it still does the same thing so is this normal ?or I need to get a replacement ? in my opinion , reaching 70 degree from such light tasks is not normal at all and on an extended manner this could damage the internals
2) I noticed that in almost all the transition and scrolling animation , there is a stutter or frame skipping when the animation is done for the first time then if you do it again it will run smoothly . but since the aggressive task killer this phone has , if after a few mins you tried to scroll in your settings or in your contact list you will face the stutter again for the first time then it would be smooth as long as you stay in the app or the task killer didn't kill it . is this normal ? or it may be related to the heating issue ?
3)sadly , I didn't read the main rooting thread before I buy the phone which warns about not updating to 5.1.1 now what i know about the options I have is :
- I can root but with tripping the KNOX fuse which will permanently void the warranty
- I will lose the functionality of the fingerprint scanner as long as I'm rooted
is this true ? or I can root without tripping the fuse ? and with rooting I will always lose the finger print scanner ?
4) after I updated my phone and it said it has the latest software , I downloaded smart switch and tried to connect my phone to it and surprisingly , I found it saying there is a software update !! which totally the CSC from OG8 to OH5 and the PHONE from OGE to OH2 . why this happened ? and how the phone didn't get that there was an update ?
5) from the last point , is there any reference that briefly explains the breakdown of all the build number , PDA , CSC .. etc values and its meanings ?
Finally , sorry for the long thread but I really think that this would be the best place that I can get opinions and advice from more experienced users
Thanks in advance
I recently purchased an S6 edge and it was getting quite hot. It was running Lollipop 5.0.2 out of the box but the 5.1.1 update was available and after installing that it doesn't get hot anymore. Hope this helps.

Disable the unnecessary services using package disabler pro(From playstore) and turn off other unncessary services. If you havn't updated; now is the perfect time to do that to 5.1.1

Thanks for your reply . I already updated my phone to 5.1.1 as soon as I unboxed it . unfortunately , this didn't solve the issue

I don't think that the background services is the issue because the issue is still there after a full factory reset without any other apps installed. just using the phone to download themes made the temperature to jump to 70+ degrees Celsius . also I already updated to 5.1.1 and the issue is still there. thanks for your reply anyways

This is my second Galaxy S2...first one had a defective screen (white spot on gray colors), now I'm having issues with this one...
While playing games (any game pretty much), randomly the game "reloads" (as if I went back to the home-screen and then returned to the game, which in some cases pauses the game after the reload but in others the games just close themselves).
I'll be honest, after all the good things I've heard about this device I'm really confused how did I end up with 2 phones with issues this big (both were brand new, though the first one was on the store's display-shelf) =/
What I've tried:
Resetting the factory settings
Updating to the latest ROM available for my area (2.3.5 Vodafone Spain)
Switching to a newer ROM (2.3.6 Open Germany)
Problem still exists.
Could this be a battery problem? (the battery I have is still from the first phone so I can assume it's defective aswell, but wouldn't that restart the phone itself rather than cause the issues I'm having?) That also crossed my mind when once a battery widget I use dropped 20% during a phone restart...
Any ideas? Something I should try?
I'm really desperate with this issue since "no gaming" on this phone pretty much makes it useless...
Thanks in advance for any replies.

You have to change the screen timeout delay and or any timeout delays example your screen pattern or password. This is not a battery problem. The battery dropping 20% you obviously changed the current battery in the phone to a different 1. If you have to do this just clear the battery stats in CWM.
EDIT: There is nothing wrong with your phone its working perfectly

You're so right - absoluetly pointless device without games. Anyone would think it's a phone if we weren't sure - thanks for the clarification.
I'm going to buy a DS for my telephone needs.

Tried changing the screen timeout today from 30 seconds to 1 minute, the problem still remains (no passwords/patterns are in use), while playing Asphalt 6 it randomly re-loaded again.
Just to make sure you didn't get the wrong idea, the issue is not that the display turns off (phone lock), the issue is while it's in use.
Did I miss doing something in your instructions?
CWM = clockworkmod? Doesn't that require rooting the phone? (mine is unrooted, only used Samsung official ROMs on it)
Can you give me the steps needed to clear the battery stat? (unless it's displayed right on the menu, then I won't need "tutorials" o.o )
Thanks in advance.

People don't buy a 450€ phone just for calls or internet. Phones were good enough for calls/internet/videos/photos 4 years ago.
Hi All,
After using HTC Wilfdire for 2 years I decided not to go for Android, due to its lagging . I couldn't play much of Graphic games or any game for that matter, even after Rooting and installing 7-8 custom ROM. But after viewing a lot of video reviews and directly using it in the showroom(also cant afford Iphone) thought of giving it a second chance and bought S3 i.e., GT-I9300. The first week itself the phone was restarting by itself, even in between the call.
I was about to go to the service center, but thought I would reset the phone once. The phone was not restarting any more(not to my knowledge), but it is very slow. I haven't even loaded any apps in the phone. Hardly I have 9-12 apps and I don't use them most of the time. I even remove the back ground application from time to time using system process itself.
Everything app is lagging. Even camera lags.
I ran the Antutu Benchmark and my phone scored ~8300. But in charts Samsung S3 shows as 16000. What am I doing wrong. Should I root the phone?
I can go to service center, but since I am in India,(the Service folks here doesn't know anything other than Resetting) I feel it as a time waste process. Any pointers will be appreciated.
Factory reset phone .
Update Firmware via Kies .
Check the Indian users thread .

Hey there everyone,
I was glad getting my LG V10 since it was released, getting a professional camera options with 2 front cams and a secondary screen (i have never thought its gamish).. WOW !
To get to the main topic why I am posting here,
My V10 performed perfect ! Untill a sudden day game and everything was changed.
I cann't figure out what was the main reason causing all these issues to my V10 because many things happend in when it got issues and I can't make sure what was the main reason.
So,
1- after using my phone for more than half of an hour, i start noticing shadows on the screen of items that usually stays on screen like the clock on the top right corner, when i go to a screen that hides the clock, i can still see it but with low opacity, leave the phone a bit and here, shadows are gone !
2- HUGE over heating issue
3- HUGE battery drain issue
4- with phone is hot, and i open the camera or snapchat, i notice some white parazites (like the one shows when trying to take a photo for a tv screen) and blurry areas are like damaged pixals
5- when i close the phone, it white color or maybe an over brightness blinks for a half of a second, then it locks off normally
6- many other problems not so important the mention
The biggest suggestion I have is that the problems was here after i updated from android 5 to 6, or because of a possibly damaged charger i used.
Can any body tell me if software may cause such a problem ? If yes, is it possible to downgrade android version on V10 ? And do you know how to downgrade it ?
Sounds like part of the problem are LCD burns... From what I read they go away after awhile. May even be covered by warranty if not...
happens to my v10 h960a , the icons displayed for a long time then when you close the screen its still there like a shadow .an for the battery drain you need to disable or uninstall as much running appsm as possible . even when i disabled loads of them 50+ apps are still running with nothing left to do but root an customize the phone yourself or custom rom because you'd be waiting on lg for months to update .

Yeah sounds right.. But what about the shadows problems ? Any solution so far ?
The icon shadow i noticed lately but it is gone
The battery problem you can go to developer option and show cpu usage to see if there is a particular app that drain battery and you can install greenify and enable aggressive doze it will help the battery life
And for the snapchat camera i see the problem when i'm in a white neon light
But the normal camera doesn't have this problem
Why don't you backup your phone (LG even gives us an app to do it) and factory reset it, to see if your problems are still there at stock ?

i haven't tried any custom roms so idk if its a software issue . if it still happens on another rom then id believe its something you'd have to get used to..
Hi there everyone, hope someone can give me some explanation.
I will not ask about technical poblem, its more likely about common problem but I didnt find the answer, so the point is, is it okay for my smartphone screen is always on for hours? What I meant is always on for full screen on apps not samsung feature always on.
For example I'm a traveler so I use google maps etc for my direction guidance,my phone screen will always on while navigating for almost 2-3 hour if there's no problem on the way, if there's a poblem I will played some games or watching movies while waiting, that's a total of 5 hour screen time continously for my phone.
To sum up, is it okay for my phone screen is active for 5 hour running apps, games & watching movie continously? Btw I'm using Xiaomi Mi Mix2S. Any answer will really be appreciated, many thanks..

The main disadvantages of keeping your device on for hours is the battery drain problem and heating of device
This may reduce your processor speed by eating up the RAM's memory however if you clear cache/davlik cache once in a while it may not be an issue
You are also advised to factory reset after a period of few months to avoid any lag related issues
Talking about the hardware it may become an issue in the long run but as of now it will be working fine
Apart from these you may have health problem which are not discussed here being an Android forum
Hope my information was helpful:fingers-crossed:

Hi milkyway3
Battery drain problem is inevitable, however my device doesn't feel hot at all, Xiaomi had done a great job with their phone.
Bottom line is, I'm concern if my usage style to my phone can effect on the phone, such as the screen black out or the phone go died on me considering I'm often in remote area which will be a big trouble if my phone go died on me.
Well hopefully for now it will be working fine like you said:fingers-crossed:
Any other input will be highly appreciated, thanks & peace.

If by any means your phone screen gets black out then as per your usgae it would be most probably due to a software issue
In case of such an emergency you can always keep a pendrive handy with you and a zip file Firmware of your device in the pendrive thenafter if anything as such happens you can install your firmware back via a Custom Recovery and everything would be fine
You can Google search for how to install custom Recovery and stock firmware of your "device name"
I recommend you to try it out once or a few times so that when you get stuck up in an emergency you would be easily able to use it
Note: This will factory reset your device
But at least you will be saved from such an emergency

Hello everyone
I have Samsung Tab S3 since it's release in 2017 .. and it was a very nice tab till a couple months ago ..
It started restarting by itself .. and it happenes always when I'm not using it or when I'm pausing a video ..
And when I leave it for a couple hours i find out that it's turned off and it can't be turned on till I hard restart it ..
I tried :
Emptying the battery to the end then recharge and didn't work.
Removing SD card and didn't work.
Entering safe mode and still restarted.
Wipe cash partition didn't work.
Factory reset and didn't work.
And finally flash stock ROM with Odin without rooting .. problem not solved
When I put the tab on power saver the restarting takes so much longer to happen ..
Could it be a hardware related thing? Or a battery thing?
Thank you in advanced for your help
*Edit 1 (problem fixed) : I rooted my tablet and installed Kernel Auditor app and changed the governor to Userspace and set the minimum frequency of the CPU to 422 instead of 307 and made the app do the settings change on boot . After this it had not restarted for 3 days.
*Edit 2 lately I flashed lineageOS unofficial 18.1 android 11 into the tablet and edited the big clusters only to interval governor while keeping the small ones with blue schedule. My tablet now is working like a charm with no issue.
Has the battery SOT time noticeably decreased?
If below 80% of its original capacity it's time to replace it.
Any swelling is a battery failure, replace asap.
Changes in charging behavior could indicate a failure as well.
Has it been dropped or exposed to moisture? You see where this is going... mobos can also randomly fail.
Does it happen in safe mode?
Check it to rule out 3rd party apps.
Original rom, don't update the system apps, all power management should be disabled.
Pull SD card if it has one for now before reload.

*After the restarting it gets stuck and shuts down and you have to turn it on by (down+power), if you turn it on immediately you have the same battery percentage but if I let it through the night and force turning it on the battery is decreased alot, it looks like when the tab is off after the freezing and restarting it is consuming alot of battery even if it's off.
*I tried the safe mode it still restarts
*I went to the beach 6 months ago and it stopped charging because of the moisture for about a week then it got back to its normal state
*I noticed that When I boot into (downloading mode) or (recovery mode) it stays on for days and doesn't restart or freeze
If you got salt water in it, it's already dead.
Needs to be pulled apart and inspected for corrosion damage. Sorry...

You mean the motherboard or the battery is dead ?
If the mobo got salt water on it or even water in it can destroy it. Current flow greatly accelerates corrosion.
The tab needs be dissembled*, dried and inspected for damage especially where there's high current flow and exposed conductors.
Sooner is better...
*pull battery connector asap

It worked has not crashed yet and I found that s-pen button thing annoying anyway so thanks again for the help
I sometimes find my S3 has shut down and requires a long press of the power button to boot up. I have not determined the cause. I wonder if just root will allow deleting enough bloatware to make a difference
