I purchase a Dell Venue 8 7840 tablet a couple of days ago. This was shipped with kitkat 4.4 and after first boot, immediately got a firmware update to android 5.1.
The issue now is when tablet was on 4.4, it was able to connect to wifi perfectly and now after this update, suddenly the tablet does not recognise the wifi connection at all and apart from this - 1. password for wifi is not stored and I have to every time type in the password..............2. Even if the wifi is ON, the connection on tablet is NOT ON and it only SAVES the wifi connection.
I am now not able to connect to wifi at all.........Could this be because of firmware upgrade? Should I try by doing factory reset? Will this work?
How to resolve this?

I am using I5503 for last 3 months with 2.1 version and the WiFi and GPS was working well.
This problem happened after I upgrade with 2.2 and then downgrade with 2.1 again.
GPS is not working at all. The WiFi only works after I reboot the phone. I mean, I need to Switch ON the WiFi and reboot the phone then it will connect. Otherwise, it shows Unable to Turn ON WiFi. If it is ON then it shows Unable to Turn OFF
Please let me know the solution. Thanks.
i think it could baseband problem. after i upgraded the baseband and flashed new beta version 0.4 of cyanogenmod my gps locks in 10-20 seconds (before it was 5 mintes) and wifi lock almost imediatelly (before had a problem with certain rooters, didn't want to lock at all). look more info in first three posts over here.
hope this helps
I am unable to turn on my wifi for my venue 8 3830. It would stay grey as soon as I try to switch it to "on". I tried 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4.2 and none of them worked. Even on the initial Wifi setup screen, it was unable to detect any wifi. Any thoughts?

Hardware problem, return tablet to where you bought it from.
Hello everyone, I follow always taking great use by cu iconsigli and today I find myself in porima borrow one person.
I have an Archos 101xs January 10 QWERTY Keyboard.
The device has always worked perfectly until I installed the new firmware 4.1.4 (from ICS), by that time I had problems with wifi and bluetooth.
The WIFI is not activated, it is detected in any way from the device, when imposed "on" the connection is disabled autiomaticamente "off", although it appears the phrase "Turn Wifi".
WPS does not work, I manually add the wireless network.
Same goes for Bluetooth, when it does not detect a connection active.
I did different tests:
Full reset of the device, install the previous ROM (4.1.2), I tried to install the root but is impossible given that only works on FW 4.0x.
I also contacted the Archos assitance to request an official version of the firmware 4.0, it is at present untraceable online.
I ask someone who is in the same condition about how to fix it.
If someone is in possession of a backup of the FW of this device to a version with WiFi functional and can load an online backup would be wonderful.
I thank all those who intervene. :good:
Hi everyone.
I have not been using my Mi Pad 1 for quite some time now. Recently, my brother installed an app that allows him to disable other users from connecting into the wifi. He stopped using the tablet because the wifi detects the network but does not connect (stuck with "saved"). I tried removing the SD card and restoring factory settings but still did not work. I also tried connecting it to a different ISP but it didn't work. All other devices are connecting to the home wifi with no problems.
I flashed the tablet with CWM and cyanogenmod 11 on both systems 1 and 2. Same thing. I was detecting Wifi but not able to connect.
I have also tried modifying the router settings as usually suggested by other users. Still not connected.
I also tried renaming WPA_supplicant.conf to WPA_supplicant.bak - it did not work as well
I have tried draining the battery completely and charging it again until 100% charged. Righty now, the tablet wifi is stuck on "turning on" status.
This is actually my first time doing a root, custom recovery and custom ROM install. I am really impressed by the guides posted here in XDA. I really hope there's still a solution to my problem.
Thanks for all the help!
*******I don't think it is a hardware issue because the tablet still detects available networks and is able to connect to bluetooth devices.
Hello.. Did you fix your issue?
Tried everything I found out there, it still disconnects from both 2.4g and 5g WiFi every 3-5 mins. No issues with android 10, started to see this recently after forced updates to android 11.
Any ideas why is this happening?

You can either do a factory reset (if you already have created a backup of everything important), or flash the latest stock Samsung firmware manually (with Odin).
