Backlight bleed - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed in videos of EU Honor 7 (and my phone) that there is light leak along bottom half of left and right sides.
Has anyone got a phone without this? Wondering now if they used the Eu introductory offer to get rid of these displays as videos I've seen of the Chinese version don't seem to have as noticeable light bleed.

Oh no, I can now see it on mine, never noticed before... Life ruined!
EU version as well.

Can't see any on mine
Sent from my PLK-L01 using Tapatalk

No light bleed here.
EU version.

Just noticed now, a stuck green pixel near top left of display when watching a movie. Not impressed.
Anyone else can test for any stuck pixels, wondering if its worth returning it. If every display has minor faults then I guess its not worth it.

I have two Honor 7 smartphones from Amazon germany.
Both of them EU Version.
Both of them have light bleed

Honor 7 EU Version bought from amazon.de ...
Display bleeding on the left and right lower end of the panel.
Going to send it back.
I hate it if I buy a new device, unbox it and boot and the first thing I see is a bleeding display.

New RAZR, black blotches on black screens

Been setting up the new phone and the black screens show blotching on two edges and throughout the screen.
Would you guys replace and would they give me a new non refurbished one?
Cool phone but damn!
The haptic feedback feels sloppy too compared to my DROID Charge.
Looking at gray screen shows the pentile matrix.
On any screen that is not black the colors show no indication that blotchy marks are underneath.

Again > These black dots on almost every S-Amoled Screen. That's glue from The Building process of the Display. Even an replacement would have them, just on an other Position
I got them, too. Just search the Forum, you're not the first one with that Question.

[Q] Visable Digitizer Grid

Having read of all the quality issues of the Z2 I am now overly concerned to make sure that mine is as it should be.
Build quality is spot on, speakers are great and screen is excellent.
The only thing I want to check is whether it is normal to be able to clearly see the digitizer grid on the screen when turning it to an angle with light shining on it.
Having been used to AMOLED screens for the last few years this type of screen is new to me so am wondering whether it is just part of the technology used for the screen.
Any piece of mind is appreciated.
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
I have noticed that yesterday when using it on bright sunlight. At certain angle you can see small dots. It isn't too bad, though...
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
I had s3 before and I only see screen matrix in both devices.
Gesendet von meinem D6503 mit Tapatalk
I have a Nexus 4 right now which has an IPS display and I can say that I can see my digitizer grid when in direct sunlight. I'll be receiving my Z2 in a few weeks and I would expect it to be the same.
Thanks guys for your wisdom. I did think it may have been due to the technology used rather than a defect but wanted a second opinion.
By the way it is a fantastic phone [emoji6]
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
I also have this and it's slightly annoying. I think I'll just let it go
Have found a solution to the grid issue...throw away the Sony supplied screen protector and put a different one on.
It seems the Sony supplied one has a matte finish which as well as making the screen look dull it also shows up the grid lines.
Have just changed it for a cheapo one and the grid lines are barely visible and the screen is a lot more vibrant
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
I thought they dropped the screen protector on the z2; I'm talking about the plastic film with the Sony logo printed.
Can you give me some precisions ?
You're correct, there is no plastic film with the Sony logo on the Z2 but they do give you a screen protector in the box. It seems to be an anti glare one that I found considerably dampens the quality of the screen.
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
Ok thanks
I didn't notice the screenprotector in my box.
Just wrote a lengthy message but tapatalk somehow messed it up.
I'll just say that I don't use a screen protector and I can see the grid in bright lighting (basically anywhere in public, schools, malls etc.), and in direct sunlight I also see the dots.
I compared the screen with a S4, S3, iPhone 5S and C and some other cheaper phones, and the grid wasn't visible in any of them. In that lighting I could however see the grid and the dots in my Z2's screen. Not pleased. Also a friend with a nexus 5 said he has no such problems.
I think I can see the grid way too easily. In bright light and brightness at 100% I can see them even when the screen is on when the phone moves and catches a ray of light.
The next few days will determine wether I can live with this issue or nor. At the moment it isn't looking so good.

PSA: Huawei Mate 20 Pro has a display problem - Gluegate

VÍDEO
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smsc_wp_YuI
UPDATE:
OK, now it's a widespread issue.
It looks like it could be the glue drying or something else.
Because the issue appears after some days of usage.
Btw, I've returned my phone
-------------------------
I bought the Mate 20 Pro the 18th of October, at first the display looked fine but it's been some days already that I'm noticing a yellow/green tint on the right side of the display that reminds me so much to the problem that happened with the Nexus 4 (it was because of the glue [https://www.pocketables.com/images/....com/images/2012/12/nexus-4-yellow-screen.jpg) ).
And it's getting worse.
It's not just me, another user on XDA and another user on Reddit also said that are having the same issue.
If it's the glue, even if you don't notice the issue right now on your device, it might appear in the next days, as it happened to me.
These are my pictures:

What do you think?
I'll go and return my phone for another one this Monday. And if the new one has the same problem I'll ask for a refund
UPDATE:
More things I've noticed:
After playing a burn in fix video, the way that this issue looks is different, it changes.
Here I took some pictures of the display with a black background:

NEWEST UPDATE:
There seem to be two different issues, or maybe one. Maybe it's related with the display controller
Here's a video

Then it will probably be the glue
if its glue, its a manufacture faulty batch (lets hope). This even happened years ago with Samsung phones due to poor QA (and for Samsung that's huge).
While highly unlikely, if you happen to find its software related or to do with w/display driver, post it in the EMUI/software problem/fault thread so you can let others know. Also, be sure to get in touch with Huawei and keep us posted on your results.
EDIT 1/11: From what I can read on the first 30-40 pages its moistly screens with LG and not BOE. Its in multiple regions, so let's way a few more weeks and see if the newer BOE batches or wave 2 of the shipments fixes the issue...

I have similar problem. The brighter shade can be visible on both sides ( on the right side little bit more expressive) and at notch edges. I'm returning phone tommorow . Sucha a shame :/
I have the same problems
Following this. I also have the same issue. Not sure though if it's to do with the screen refractions on the curved glass. Will wait to see what happens with others. What apps are people using to test?

I thought that. I've never had a curved like this. I put a black wallpaper on and it's fine. Put a colour one on and you see it
A great way to tell is if you have a white chrome window and then pull the notification shade down it shows all around the notch. I think it's something to do with greys on low light levels?
Yeah greys at low light seem to vary in colour a little, if it's really bad keep swapping the phone. I had to change my Nexus 6P made by Huawei 3 times before I got a good screen. Mine is slightly lighter on the bottom third but it's hardly noticeable so I'm going to stick with it.

I've got the XDA app open and it's green on the left , green around the top and bottom left. Think I hear the 6T
For me it was netflix loading screen,it's gray, and the amount of shade was overwhelming :-/ I'll check another version tommorow,if the issue will show up on another device i quit and wait for S 10 probably.

Ghosting (image trail) & hyper sensitivity

I recently got my Poco f1 and two things stood out to me as bad and possible deal breakers.
1: The touch screen accepts inputs even when my finger is 0.5 cm off the screen, which is a lot. I'm wondering if this is also affecting scrolling which sometimes seems to stop or slow down after I lift my finger.
2: Ghosting. I know ips screens will have some ghosting (image trailing with moving objects on the screen such as text), but I notice it a lot on this phone. It became apparent when scrolling through the app drawer on a dark background, especially with white icons. They leave a decently sized trail behind them when scrolling. Even with text it's pretty noticeable. To be clear, I'm not talking about image retention. It seems that's what ghosting refers to mostly on phones nowadays.
My last phone was the Lg G3 which was known for it's screen. I wonder whether or not what I'm seeing is worse than it should be.
I'd like to know if anyone has these issues as well and if these things are improvable / fixable. Is the phone always going to detect input from my finger, even if I'm not touching it? Is the ghosting issue reducible with a custom kernel? I saw there is one that overclocks the screens refresh rate, might that reduce it or is it a hardware issue that can't be changed - pixel response?
Edit: I have no ghosting issues if I turn the screen brightness almost entirely down to it's minimum. Which makes me think it's the pixel response time and light is bleeding through easily because they are sluggish. I'm not an expert on this though.
I am using the device with aospextended rom and I realized that white text on black or dark background on medium brightness leads to a lilac color shift on the white text.
Do you have similar problems?

Yup, I do. It's minimal, but it's there.
I've tried MIUI, lineage, franco kernel, latest updates, everything but my issues persist. The touch screen registers input hovering about 0.5cm off the screen and there is noticeable ghosting due to what I think is bad pixel response time.
Sucks... the question I'm faced with is paying double the price worth getting a phone with a display that doesn't have these issues? That's a tough one, but I think I'm keeping the phone purely because I don't feel paying 300 Euro extra for something like the oneplus 6 or 6t is worth it.

I found a fix for this problem. If you have access to live display, or any other color calibration setting, set red color to 90%. That takes almost all of the tinting away.
Edit: setting the following values noticeably reduces ghosting at the expense of max brightness. Red- 40% Blue- 50% Green- 50%.
If only I had a dime every time someone opens a new thread about the touch issues of the Poco display...

You are right. I paid 255 euros for the 128 version and the oneplus is not worthy the premium price.

I'm not sure.
I requested support from Xiaomi and they told me that they can't help because it wasn't bought through their store. The store I did buy it at said I had to contact Xiaomi. So I'm a little upset by the back-and-forth. I'm hoping I can get another unit because there do seem to be people who have units that don't have these issues.

Does replacing lcd fix touch issues ?

So recently my phone has been having touch issues (e.g ghost touches) on the upper left corner of the screen (beside the notch). It's quite annoying when I'm playing some games such as ML as the character would move left due to the ghost touches. Thus, I was thinking of replacing the lcd display in hopes of fixing the ghost touches. So my question to you is, will replacing the lcd display (either by a third party or stock factory lcd display) fix touch issues ? AFAIK the touch issues are hardware related, so replacing it should fix it right ?

I had ghost input issues with Lumia 1020 and replacing the screen fixed it, cause the digitizer and the screen are one whole (or at least separating em isn't efficient enough) so replacing the screen probably is a solution. Here in eastern Europe on the sites I see Poco screens for 30 to 40 bucks, they say they are original but I dunno.

Replacing the screen may solve your problem but if the screen is not genuine, you will end up with worse issues.

Good to hear ! Btw, how do you repair the screen on your own ? I'm scared to do it myself cuz I might accidentally screw up ?
Its Not really hard. You need a Torx T2(or T3, idk) Screwdriver for the 2 Screws at the Button from the Phone. A Hairdryer for the Glue (Mainboard and so on) and a Philipps Screwdriver..
Just Take Look at YouTube there a many How-To Videos.
