Hello Guys,
I have seen many XDA forum posts / threads, about modifying the "media_profiles.xml" for camera improvement & media play back of your android device. I have phones and tablets which run on Android 4.4.2 & 4.4.4 OS, I could not find the "media_profiles.xml" file any where in the system folder.
Can anyone help to find that? One of my phone has got MediaTek 6595 M processor, 3 GB RAM, 5.5 inch LTPS FHD display, runs Android 4.4.2 OS etc.
It can play 4K videos. But the rear 20 MP camera can not just record 4K video. It can record FHD video. I want to make the rear camera record / shoot 4K video. I need help from you guys to do it. I am beginner level developer, do lack experience. Please assist me with this. I would also like to hire a developer who can sort out my problems and pay his / her fees.
Thanks & Regards
I have the same issue.
Hi all. Is there any way to hack Lenovo A6000 camera to record 1080p video? As far as I know the camera supports 1080p but it's locked to 720p by Lenovo. I tried other roms and it gave me option 1080p but when I tried to record video it failed. Any ideas on what to do?
Hello, i have a PPTV King 7, a chinese mobile with Mediatek MT6795 Helio x10, and Camera 13 mpx.
This mobile record videos FULLHD, but a boy edited stock camera .APK for recording 4k.
We have to install only, this new camera.apk and we have 4k option and videos.
I want to modify other apps in my mobile, as Open Camera or FV5 Cinema.
All changes that i did in my media_profiles.xml, not worked.
Can anybody tell me how one APK was edited for recording 4k?
Thank you.
Hi,
I was playing with 4k video recording using open camera, Note 5 global non rooted version with original ROM.
I see that video bitrate is a bit low and sometimes I see compression artifacts.. it's around 41Mb/s for video.
Is there any way to use HEVC or use higher bitrate to record 4k.
Comment: for example my old OneplusOne is recording in more then 60Mbit/S in 4k mode
Xiaomi 4k+ more then 100Mb/s
Wondering if someone was trying to hack it... I set bitrate in open camera but nothing is changing it.. still the same default stock value in final file.
Interesting thread.
Sorry if I don't have an answer but a question: does EIS (image stabilisation) work correctly when enabled in open camera or are the videos still shaky?

This is great news. Thanks.
Just to make sur : This is on the 5 plus = Indian note 5. (Not the Indian note 5 pro = normal note 5 which is dual camera and officially does have eis).
(because another thread says you need to root and install camera api2 for it to work).

I had italian version (assuming global ROM) from Amazon.it
4GB/64GB version black
from what I checked in few apps just open camera had EIS option in 4K and it indeed works, I was comparing videos with and without EIS enabled
just wondering about bitrate, had no chance to test with fv5 and setting higher bitrate cause i sold the phone, waiting for new unit so will test it again...
ideally would be to have EIS+4k and more than 60Mbit bitrate
Thanks for the feedback. Hope someone will answer you regarding bitrate.
I see in the open camera settings (video section) you can manually set the bitrate up to 100 mbps.
Have you looked at this?
Hello guys/girls.
My phone has MediaTek P25 and Samsung s5k3p3 camera hardware.
I know that s5k3p3 is capable of recording 4K videos and I know that P25 supports that. My phone has it set to maximum of 1080p.
My question here is simple... what defines the max video resolution and what would I need to change? Is it just somewhere in some file, defined as a variable or do I need to go into the kernel and change something there?
Phone is rooted and fully unlocked, have some experience with building "custom" ROMs but I was never bothering with this since I didn't have a phone that was limited in such way until now.
Would be really happy if you could help me with that. I'm using Open Camera that has an option to "Enable 4K on unsupported phones" but that doesn't help since obviously the system itself has a limit written somewhere.
C'mon, seriously nobody can give me some guidance to where to start digging for this?
Aaaaaaaanything?
