Hey everyone! Has there been any word if there will be a Cyanogen ROM for the Streak now that the kernel source has been released?? Would be pretty nice IMHO
Don't think he has a streak to do a rom for us !
And I'm going to be controversial here........
I love Cyan roms, very quick and stable and very 'tweakable' with lots of options.
I had them on my G1 and Nexus, however they EAT the battery..

Once all the lovley devs have sussed the source code for the streak a port is on the cards.
Ill go out on a limb and disagree, im running cm 5.0.8 on my g1, i dont have my sim card in it (obviously its in my streak) i only use it as an alarm clock, with no data connection at all, it will last about 10 days on a 2200mAh battery, my experience battery wise has been no worse with cm compared to other roms... even a vanilla 2.2 build with gapps and the same dpi setting as a Evo would be fine with me... id kill for stock android.

ive never experienced battery drain with cyan roms on my G1. completely the opposite infact.
cyan himself doesnt need to make a rom for streak with the source we can have ago at porting it over. but although his roms are fantastic i dont think they will be very good for the streak. its best we build our own cyans and set the bar for custom streak roms ourselves
once we work out dells weird and wonderful edits to android source we should have some success but at moment theirs alot of cannot allocate memory problems
possible MIUI rom ported to MediaPad?
I see MIUI rom on Nexus 7 it's so cool... :crying:
miui nexus 7 ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841208
I've never been a fan of miui roms, they look so much like iphone ui, and all those colored icons and layouts make the device look like a tablet for kids.
if it's even possible to port a rom to the mediapad i prefer something from samsung 7" tablets, the look of touchwiz is really special.
I don't think anyone is working on a MIUI rom. I personally wouldn't want to turn my tablet into a giant phone, since to my knowledge they haven't implemented a tablet UI yet. It seems like there aren't many developers working on ROMs for our device as it is, I say let them work on trying to get HDMI on Jelly Bean instead.
HTC sense from flyer would be great if someone port it

There's a very large library of themes to change the colored icons and menus. Even still, I don't think the default looks at all like the iPhone.
I have MIUI on my phone and absolutely love it. Menus, toggles, drop down/pop-ups are so much cleaner. Would be awesome to have on my tablet too.

Yeah... me to, would love to se on my mediapad to.
Remember when cyanogenmod team brought life back to all our old phones? i was one of the lucky ones to get my HTC WILDFIRE supported by CM. at the same time MIUI pulled the middle finger and said F**K YOU!! we only develop for the the powerul devices.
what's the point of an after-market ROM when it dosn't support devices with few features.
after all, we are still stuck with two CM and AOKP ROMs that are not qualified enough to be used daily! how can we now start on MIUI?
it's useless
i'm sorry but that's the truth :crying: and i'm sad as F**K seeing all other devices on xda having tens of working ROMs.
we need more developers. i'm not one, but i help testing and do all my best to get something working.
huawei published all ics sources long time ago. It doesn't seems that's not helping, we already have an unlocked bootloader by default... pointless complaint imho, we only need interested developers

From my understanding, the T-Mo springboard is a redone Huawei Mediapad. The Springboard here has a very very small userbase, however the mediapad in China (from what I understand) has a much larger base. Given that MIUI is developed in China... I would think that the tablet might get some attention.

whats your thought?
lattely installed L5.0 on my nexus 5 and really like it, saw LG thereat with Lollipop ROMs so would not be an issue installing custom ROM,
read many reviews about Nexus 9 and ppl say it is not worth the money, CPU is better than LG 8.3 so new Lollipop should be smooth but some users compalin on hardware in HTC nexus as well...
was hopeing for few words from you guys on wether you happy with Nexus 9 or not? would you recommend or not?
THANK YOU !
Love the Nexus 9, have no real complaints and it is a Nexus device.
I thought going back to 4:3 would be bad but it is natural for me when I use the Nexus 9 to read.
Google is still updating older tablets with the Nexus 9 I can count on getting timely system updates to a few years.
LG.... not sure may root it custom ROMs or hope LG updates the tablet.
Is this not a well received device? I love it and it seems like a better device, size wise than my previous Nexus 7 (2013). There were/are tons of ROMs for the Nex 7, why not the 9?
THOUGHTS?

Don't worry the roms will come. Nexus 9 is awesome so I don't believe the devs will ignore this device.

my belief is that because all(or most) custom roms use the cyanogenmod device configs
this device shipped with lollipop which not all custom roms have switched to yet, the big one being CM. I think that once CM starts shipping out CM12 nightlies that one of the devs will pick up the nexus 9
also the fast that no one wants to build custom roms for it because of the 64 bit support. i looked into building unofficial Cm for it and it was beyond my scope of ability
Heres one

My Dell Venue 3830 out performs newer versions of the same tablet. I love it. I have tried newer versions of the tablet, and have returned them favoring this 3830.
Would it be smart to start a bounty for someone to develop a lollipop based ROM for it?
Who else would be interested?
How does one go about starting a bounty?
Asus Zenphone 5 & 6 received Lollipop June 2015
I use the same Dell Venue 3830. The spec of our tablet is almost equals with Asus Zenphone 5 & 6 (Atom Z2580 2Ghz, 2GB RAM). Asus just announce upgrade for Zenphone 5-6. So we could expect XDA developers could port it to our Dell.
I certainly hope so, I love this little tablet. Quick, snappy, and beautiful.
Have you tried the ART runtime ? I always failed enabling it. Stuck in boot logo then restart to Dalvik
Sent from my Venue 8 HSPA+ using XDA Free mobile app
Sure have. it has worked for me, although I really see no difference...
has anyone managed to get ANY custom rom installed for a Venue 7 .. preferably 3741...
I am serious about a bounty. I love the 3840, which is the best tablet I have gotten from them. Runs smooth and fast as butter. I will set up a Paypal and donate it ALL to anyone who can create a 90% working ROM.
count me in

im in.... $20 from me but like y0himba said it needs to be at least 90% working, 3G, wifi, Ext SD most of the bells & whistles.... doesnt have to be lollipop but of course that would be preferred...
if anyone can get CM 10 or 11 or AOKP to work i would be very happy
I meant the 3830 LOL. I will drop $20 or more on a ROM for this puppy. 4.4.4 at least, CM, Lollipop would be GREAT.
Would anyone be kind enough to add on 3840 for this CM? I'd literally appreciate it so damn much, thanks!
I hope you succeed, because seems that dell already forgot the 3830 tablet. I would like to offer my help but my knowledge about this stuff is pretty basic. It will be great if you were able to release android lollipop for this tablet.
I have absolutely no knowledge of even where to begin. However, I do have money to contribute to a person who can make a working complete, working ROM for the tablet.
Like it was said above, this was a case of bait and switch. This was the first version of the tablet, and had the best hardware. It was sold at a loss for a while, then boom "Upgrade", which had worse hardware and ran like ****e. I have a 3840, and no one in the family will use it. The damn thing is too slow even to load a Kindle book right after it had been factory reset.
Building a ROM for this will net the ROM builder a bit of cash and do a great service for the community.
not feeling any love, looks like no one cares about our poor pathetic tablets...
DELL really sucks doing this.... its very much like an Apple scam ... mine is the 3741 which supposedly has 8gb but after the android system with system apps and all you have around 3.5gb free.
then you cant even move apps to EXT-SD so good luck installing many large apps.

This is common for all tablets, no tablet or any android devices has the listed amount of space free.
16GB 32GB and so on don't have that much space free either.
As far as bounty for rom, posting here isn't going to get much exposure, unlikely this thread will even be seen by anyone that builds roms.
If there is enough people willing to fund this project, and buy a developer one of these tablets, then perhaps you can get a rom.
If it ever gets to that point, find a developer and ask him, how much would it take to get a custom rom.
Right now I can only think of one developer that is currently producing x86 cm12 roms. @nels83.
Seeing he is already making x86 cm12 roms for 3 x86 devices, he could add more if he had those devices.
@nels83 would be the person to contact once enough money is raised to buy him a tablet, or if someone has a spare tablet to give him.
@nels83 cm12 thread.

What would be great is in the wait for a decent custom ROM such as Cyanogen or Paranoid, maybe someone out there could throw together a cleaned up, barebones custom ROM based off the current stock ROM but with all of the crapware thrown out and maybe some changes to improve the overall performance. This would be good for both 3830 and 3840 users and hopefully will make the wait for a CM or Paranoid (if it ever comes) a little shorter as atleast our tablets will run, decently.
The 3840 is in desperate need of a custom ROM. I see 3830 users also wanting it but to be honest, I'm sure they can stick it out with their 2GB of RAM. The 3840 is suffering dearly with only 1gig and is total hell running stock Android - so if there's a dev out there, priorities to the 3840 please. I've heard that the 3830 has decent performance.
I doubt you will ever seen a custom ROM for 3840.

Please make your own thread for the 3840, this is a bounty thread for the 3830 only. There has to be a dev who is will to make a bit of money to create a working ROM.

@nels83 is probably the only dev that could, also the 3830 kernel source has finally been released, it was a big set back waiting over a year for kernel source.
I used the kernel source to build myself a custom kernel and when time allows I will start back working on my asop rom for my 3830. I stopped working on it due to no source code.
My ROM will only be for my personal use, as I have no desire to continuously update a rom.
@nels83 is the best choice for building a community ROM, if he chooses to.

Who said you have to continuously update it? As long as most of the functions work to a decent standard and it is a solid ROM, then I am sure the community will be more than happy with it.
Also, 3840 users: http://forum.xda-developers.com/dell-venue/development/v8-3840-lollipop-rom-bounty-t3185076
I'm guessing it is out of the equation to be able to port a ROM from the venue 10 tree? Maybe a slimmed down version of their lollipop? I guess that maybe is aiming too high but I'm not sure.
