I really hope it's the pulsing style LED like we had on previous Nexus phones :fingers-crossed:

Those always worked great on my Nexus 5. Not so much on any of the Samsung's devices I've had.

Amazing! Best of both worlds. This is the best overall phone in the market right know.

I noticed that as well. I was really looking for that also. Surprisingly the Nexus 5X does not have it listed.

btw nexus 5x does have it too

I'm very happy about this. Ambient screen is nice for non-critical events, such as G+ or FB notifications, but nothing screams "Missed Call" or "New Text Message" like a nice bright blinking LED.

I hope they allow you to disable it. I'm not a notification LED fan. I haven't had one since my G3 and that was over a year ago now.

Led notification control can be whatever you want with gravity box. I just assume the majority of xda users will be rooting, so even in it doesn't do anything by default, we can make it work. Pulsing or steady.

Anyone have video or photo of its location?

My understanding is that it *comes* disabled. The only difference between it and the LED in the N6 is that you *can* access it (using LightFlow, or whatever) without rooting.

That's good I've never liked the annoying flash of the LED when you get a notification. I prefer the assignment l ambient display because its not subtle and less annoying when you ignore it.

Sweet thanks for the info, it was the most logical location.

What a welcomed return!! I was never a fan of ambient display.

Notification LED's are the best when setup. Adjusting the speed, color, duration makes me be able to take a quick glance at my phone and know what's going on without having to touch it.

Why would they NOT list it? Wtf

Some Low Quality Pics of the screen from Different angles at low brightness

Hi,
People have been complaining about the black botches and green screen issues with the Razr on this forum but for some reason i have not seen any sort of green tint or black botches on my phone...even at extreme angles and in the darkest of backgrounds...
Just uploading some Low Quality Pics of the screen from Different angles at low brightness to show that I absolutely cannot see any green tint on the screen...
Is it on the lowest brightness setting? If not, lol put to the lowest and im sure youll notice it then
Its on the lowest brightness

Download a plain black background that will fit your entire screen when viewed in gallery, then put your phone in the lowest possible brightness(not auto-brightness), then go in a dark room, with 0 lights(night time if possible) then tell me if you still don't see the black spots all over the screen.
Every single RAZR has it and I have come to believe that those minorities that do not see it, are not creating the perfect condition for them to see it.
Not sure why I would wanna create the perfect situation to see something I don't want to see.

Either you are one of the lucky very few or the conditions are not right.
I get a strong green tint only in the lowest brightness setting, no matter the colour of the screen.
And the black blotches, go to a dark room, reboot the phone and...well just look lol, when the screen is black (most of the boot up screen is black) its pretty unmissable TBH.

PMSL perfect point really, the only reason i know its there is cos i had to look for it.
Personally for me its strange that such a high end phone has these kind of screen problems, a bit disconcerting...But then again they are not noticable in day to day use.

That was more so directed to the OP who wanted to see the black spots. If you don't want to see it, just go about enjoying the device.
I saw them for the first time after I used my phone in the rain. I thought it was water damage, but then remembered that the screen and the glass were glued(Thank you iFixIT) and that there was no way that there was water in between.
I googled, and found out that nearly everyone with a RAZR had it. I was going to try to return it, but then decided against since the replacement might be defective as well.
I just am happy using my RAZR with whatever spots there are on the screen.

Anywayz even if i find some spots in those conditions i wouldn't be bothered coz i guess if you look that closely at any phone it would have some or the other minor defect...The important thing is it shouldn't affect you in day to day ops...

It's not a defect; it's just a byproduct of sAMOLED screens. That's like saying an LCD is too bright in low light situations and calling it a defect; it's not defective, it's just how that tech works.
I think to solve this issue we need to find an expert that we trust to tell us how these things are made and to explain why such a phenomenon is happening even though I haven't noticed this on mine and I'm NOT going to look for it.
Mine has no green tint at lowest brightness either. I would consider that, along with the extreme black spots/lines, grounds for replacement. If the spots are only noticeable in the perfect situation and you don't encounter them in normal usage, keep that phone.

Droid Dna Red capacitive buttons

Hey Guys just wondering if in the near future will be a way to change the white color of capacitive buttons to red...my sensation xe and rezound is very nice with red capacitive buttons!i found some guides on youtube with older htc devices....but don't know how it works on dna...also there is an easy way without messing with led and wires....if you put fade resistant red tape you can have them...anyone who feels like droid dna should have red capacitive buttons?
That would be a cool mod.
I would like that just because the white is really annoying on the eyes at night.
I remember reading that the guy that took his apart said the LEDs are easy to remove. I personally would just put the multicolored ones in, and then change it depending on mood with an app.

There are already kernel modules to handle multicolor led lights baked into almost all existing android kernels, extending this support to the captive led would be relatively straightforward. Unfortunately the DNA's mainboard has no support for such a mod.

Surface mount soldering is anything but easy. Unless you have a high end soldering iron with a super fine tip and hands of a brain surgeon, I'd advise against it.

There is an app that was written for the HTC One X+ which allows for dimming of the captive button LEDs
Origional Thread | Play Store
It only allows for toggling the LED on the DNA. I would assume our devices would support dimming but this has yet to be confirmed.
Kind of off topic, but I think it's something that might be worth looking into.
You could get a slim piece of red translucent gel insert (like the stuff they use for stage lights) and put it right over the bottom section where the buttons are. Then put a screen protector on.

Coming to AT&T on Sept 26.

Anyone getting one? Surprised there's almost no interest in this phone. Yes it's not as good as S5 but it's smaller and looks better.

Chipset
Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 801
Cores
2.5GHz quad-core
Anyone confirm?
I've ordered one for my girlfriend.

Can you check the mura problem. Go into a dark room, turn screen brightness to minimum, and view a picture or background of a solid color.
Since the screen is AMOLED it might look something like these pics:

The fingerprint scanner is more accurate than the S5. You can now program your finger for straight and sideways swipes. In my short testing it did seem to be about 90% accurate.

With HSPA+, I usually maxed out at about 8Mbps in my area. With LTE I can get up to 60Mbps. Of course it depends on how congested you area is. I'm in the Bay Area so on a typical day I can expect ~20 Mbps.
The major difference however is the latency on LTE. Response times are around 20-50ms as opposed to 100+ms on HSPA+. You definitely notice LTE loading pages faster.
Thanks for Posting and questions about Alpha.
I am lpoking at Alpha vs. Z3 C.
Impressed at AT&T Store with physical build of Alpha, pretty and feels durable.
What is your average or best average SOT ?
Some say screen yellow or blue but in normal mode, pretty accurate Color right ?
Speaker loud enough to listen to Podcasts in quiet room 8 to 10 feet away ?
Or even in pocket with speaker facing up ?
Tried a few Camera shots, seems sharper Indoors than people say although bright
in Store.
In average lit homes, restaurants etc. can you get clear shots of walls, furniture,,
showing entire rooms ?
Seemed like S4 type quality photos , though not very familiar withS4, S5.
Call quality seemed good on test calls, speaker could be louder.
Sucks that you don't get better speakers on $500 phones than $ 150 phones,
they grab speakers from a big cardboard box in China, lol no matter which Phone. Lol.
Can your Phone easily read external Mini USB to play ir load photos, audio files, for
Email, using phone like computer ?

There is OLED notification via always on display. OLED make an extra LED at the top obsolete, especially in bezelless designs.

I wonder if this was the proximity sensor which is just reacting to the camera?
It is obsolete, OLED can totally emulate an LED and look exactly the same. No need for an extra component. Just use an LED notification emulator for always on display.
Well, if there's an out-of-box function which has a simple notification on the OLED screen which works the same way as a traditional LED, then I would accept.
As for S8, they have notification on the AOD... which is fine.
But wait.. I'm one of those who does not have a lock screen, thus I can never get notification icons on my AOD. That sucks. So you can imagine if the S8 does not have a notification LED, I'd be forced to turn on the lock screen, or live without any notification indication.
Bummer..
Really bad movement by LG not to have led notification despite having AOD.
S8 series has both of them so why not by LG.
Bad decision defiantly.
Actually it does seem to have LED notification. I am going by specs on a couple websites that list it as available and the picture on LG's website.
Edit: apparently not. See below.
Having the G6 without it I will say not a big deal. AoD is awesome enough, much better to glance at that.

I'm ok with AOD too.
But.. is the AOD with all notifications present without a lock screen? I've love to know :fingers-crossed:
Considering how much they've been pushing the AOD, it'll most likely not have a notification LED. I however would love one, despite the AOD.
I feel like an old timer who can't adjust to how things are right now, but I feel like AOD's are a waste of valuable battery resources (however light they may be).
I know an AOD will work wonders considering the amount of information it can display on a notification, but having an RGB LED pulse like night rider just sits better with my liking. I love having a green pulse for whatsapp, a teal pulse for group messages, a white pulse for sms and a purple pulse for missed calls (red for e-mails etc).
I'd love to have somthing wide like Pixel C. Maybe a notificaiton LED and an AOD triggered with the proximity sensor (flick of your hand, or pulling it out of your pocket etc) with a summary of the message or event.
But yeah, it probably won't have an LED. and yeah, despite talking so much about it, I probably won't miss it (except for the cringy feeling inside me when I go to camp and want to squeeze all my battery has to offer and I have to turn my AOD off)
I hope you can customize the heck out of the AOD or have an LED notification lookalike. Otherwise this is a dealbreaker. I use that light for everything.
Depends on your usage but for me RGB NLED is simpler and more effective than AOD. AOD is better if you keep your phone close to you at all times as it provides richer information. But i'm not glued to my phone. When I'm doing other things at work or at home I leave my phone on a desk or sofa or whatever but I can still see the NLED from a distance and decide whether to ignore it or not depending on the colour.
AOD on the G6 and S7 were not very visible at a distance. Maybe it's brighter now, I'm not sure. Will have to check it out in person. Also I'm not sure how much the AOD impacts battery life.
NLED is one of those features that does a simple job but does it effectively with little fuss. Not a deal breaker but I will miss it if it's gone. Paying for a new phone and losing a feature is not a nice feeling. Each to their own I guess
Otherwise I think the LG V30 is close to perfect for me. Was thinking about the Essential Phone but the camera is terrible and no headphone jack is pretty annoying.

Screen issues!

Anyone else experiencing this? See attached photo. Bottom end of the screen, pretty much half way down and onwards, colours and get lighter at 0% brightness. Top of the screen is black, like an AMOLED panel should be, bottom is light with an almost green tint. Used a screen test app and can see the shift even more and also navbar burn/retention.
Not impressed.
As I ordered this on O2, via Mobile Phones Direct, who do I contact or do I go to Huawei? Only been using the device for a weekend!

Ok so on lowest brightness in a dark room the darks on xda for example is greyer bottom half of the screen. But tbh any oled I've tried struggle a bit at very low brightness on dark/grey colours. Staying that yours does look particularly bad on the bottom 3rd

That sucks mate. I've not followed screen issues on OLED devices closely across the brands...so surprised this is happening with a premo device. Hopefully there are only 1 or 2 cases for some of these major defects...as many more becomes worrying!

Another thing, sorry for off topic is I've switched from Three to O2 (number transferred a few hours ago and now using O2 with old number) and I'm getting absolutely terrible 4g speeds. At work at the moment and signal hasn't always been the greatest on my office, but hoping when I test speed when I leave and also when I'm home that speeds are decent. Otherwise I may end up cancelling this phone and contract, and maybe I'll see about the Pixel 3 XL on a contact back with Three, or maybe I'll go sim only and get the Oneplus 6T - as the likelihood of getting root for this device is looking slim.....
Wait for 1/11, which ius the AUS release date of the phone and an extra week and see if Funky Huawei offer rooted versions of this phone. The hardware by itself is far superior...it's a same there's a lot of bugs and problems letting it down though...and then there's EMUI...
