Where is the difference to the legolas version?

The main difference would be that this is not an All-F2FS ROM but uses back-ported parts of LP to support F2FS and/or EXT4 as you desire on data/cache. It also has a lot of updates from the latest CM-11 well after development on SlimKat stopped (newer F2FS version for one but there a many other repo updates and backports from LP without sacrificing speed or KitKat user experience).

Runs snappy and without lags unlike any of the lollipop builds around.
Battery life looks good also so far.
Using it with ext4, no need for f2fs partitions.

If I already have the official SlimKat Build 9.0 on my grouper, can I flash this one on top of the current installation? Or I need to wipe and install from scratch?

I haven't tried it but a dirty flash should be fine with that ROM.

It works. I was able to dirty flash and the N7 seems to be running ok. Thanks for supporting the grouper with some latest patches! My N7 is now immune to Stagefright!
Thanks again.

Thanks for the good ROM.
Tried it after many troubles with any Lollipop ROM with any filesystem and finally the tablet is usable.
Battery life seems very good too. Standby of ~20h with WiFi turned on = 7% of the battery.
I've installed Facebook and Chrome and still the tablet works as expected even during update of some apps.
I really don't understand why Google updated it to Lollipop.

Suddenly my wifi is not working. I am on this rom. Wifi is not turning on since 2 days. Please help me guys. I tried airplane mode on/off method but with no luck.

I see you posted this problem in two threads. Please create a bugreport and attach it to the thread of the ROM that you are running. Thanks!

Security Patches
@LordNerevar:
Will you be able to merge these security patches to this rom? These are the newly found security issues for Oct.

Thanks very much.

I was hoping CM would continue to update their 11 branch but it appears that party is over. Yes, I will be merging these myself. I don't like being out of date on security patches either.

Beautiful, fast ROM.
Working very well and fast, i suggest to make a detailed instruction for newbies, i personally used another installation instruction of
an F2FS ROM.

Great beautiful and really smooth and fast rom, thank you! Everything is really good.
One small issue for me though is that the "Home" and "Back" buttons on my physical bluetooth keyboard do not work on this rom. Any chance to make those buttons functional again?

Unfortunately, it would be dependent on your keyboard. But, there is some hope in the following posts...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336114
http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159538
If you get it working, please submit your updated .kl file and I'll gladly include it in the next build.
Good luck!
P.S. Is there a ROM that works with this keyboard? If so, I may be able to get the .kl file from that ROM if you give me the details of the keyboard as mentioned in the first post above. I'll need the Vendor/Product IDs.

I'm on M6.0 ... How can I flash your rom?

I'll let someone with experience doing that answer. I found L to be unusable so I'm not even going to try M.

Thanks for the helpful response.
I remember that on LP 5.1.1 it probably worked 100%, so i went ahead and copied my backed up files from the LP keylayout folder to the existing installation, applied the correct permissions, restarted my n7 but unfortunately got no joy at the end
While using the LP keylayout files, the keytest app showed correctly the scanCodes 1 and 172 on the press events of the back and home buttons respectively but the keyCode presented for every button i pressed (not only those two) was always "KEYCODE_UNKNOWN". I believe this is why the bt keyboard didn't work at all with the LP keylayout files although i don't exactly understand why as there were no differences on the actual key codes in the files.
Afterwards i restored your original files in the keylayout folder. The keytest app now shows scanCode 1 on back button press and the keyCode in that case is "KEYCODE_ESCAPE" but it just doesn't work. On the home button press the keytest app does not show a response. All other buttons work as expected.
Finally I tried to compare your files with those of the stock kk version and found no differences at all so it probably isn't a problem of this specific rom.
Anyway, thanks again for your time and sorry for my English.
EDIT:
Ok, i finally managed to find my vendor and device id so i can use a specific file and not mess up with the generic layouts.
The file i created is Vendor_04e8_Product_7021.kl (Mobile bluetooth keyboard For nexus 7).
For my testing, I added just two rows in it:
key 30 BACK (actual physical key is "a")
key 31 HOME (actual physical key is "b")
and it still doesn' work. Any other action/letter/number assignment (apart from BACK and HOME actions) works as expected.
So it is clear to me now that i am not able to map the BACK and HOME actions to any key.
Thanks

Just found this ROM, and installed it this morning. Downgraded from stock 5.1 to this.
The tablet now seems new again
Thank you

Hum thats a nice rom for a nice device; oh wait, my device is great, yours is mini lololol
congratz bro =)
I'll ask here the same here if you don't mind, as i won't be able to test this either soon myself... cann someone using this confirm if:
1. left/right cursor arrows are immediately shown when using keyboard (think so as it is a cm feature but in carbon for example you have to press a button first to see them)
2. is it possible to always show volume panel expanded
3. is it possible to assign long-press action to nav bar buttons to show volume panel without using hw volume buttons
4. can date be shown is status bar
finally recovery included in the rom is still cm one right? so twrp image should be flashed apart with rashr?
tia
Finally! SlimRom for our Z3C! Yes!
BTW: Did anyone managed to make Sony Camera app for CM based ROMs? Stock camera (Android camera) is horrible. Too much noise.... (yup, i lost my DRM keys and im forced to stay with stock FW with DRM mod)
EDIT: "Error executing binary in zip" FAILED.
Flashing via TWRP.
@moly82
1, as far as i recall, cursor keys are not shown immediately. there is an option to enable volume keys cursor control ( tbh i deleted the inbuilt android keyboard and use super swiftkey by djdarknight).
2. no. not at the moment but as stated in OP "SlimLP is currently in alpha/beta stage, some settings are already in place, much is still missing and it will come with time" so it may be a feature that's included at a later date.
3. you can assign long press on nav buttons to perform numerous tasks, unfortunately not the task you request.
4. Yes date can be shown in status bar.
and yes recovery is Cm, however i recommend flashing fotatwrp by kyasu https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934529111 apologies i assumed most people with unlocked bootloader would have flashed this by now.
cheers
MOTHER****ING YES!!
Been waiting for this almost a year already (since I bought the phone from day one!!)
@Carach_CZ
Ive flashed this rom 5 times or more and never experienced any issue. if your still having problems flash the fotatwrp from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934529111 via fastboot or flash using the app "Rashr" from playstore
cheers

same here! the long-awaited ROM finally arrives!! awesome! thanx @AnGrY sCoTsMaN! will report if any bug/s found(IF there's any!)!
cheers!
@AnGrY sCoTsMaN
Thanks for your hard work!
I have a question before flashing - how is this ROM doing in terms of battery life? Also, does the Ambient Display feature work on our Z3c?
Thanks in advance!!
Awesome, working great so far. Thanks so much.
WiFi disconnects quite a bit - had the same problem with cm, but cm seemed worse than this. This is so much better so far.
Vibration sensitivity control is missing, I understand this is alpha, so that feature is probably coming in the future - but just thought I'll bring it up.
Cast button on quick settings doesn't work, but then it never worked with any other rom on this phone anyways.
The compass in quick settings doesn't work, is there a way to calibrate that? Looks like another cm issue anyways.
None of the above is suppose to be feature request - just hoping to help u make this awesome rom better.
Thanks again - my new daily driver.
My first boot is taking about 10 minutes now, is that normal?
Cheers.
@flintfirewalker cheers for the feedback. Yeah some features we usually expect from slim are still missing but I imagine slim will implement them soon enough. I only noticed the WiFi dropouts last night myself but will look to see if there is a fix. As for the compass, it appears to work in my quick settings, whether it's calibrated correctly is a different story.... I'm sure there will be an app to help calibrate it. I will stay on the look out for update and fixes. On the plus side... The dedicated camera button now launches the camera lol
Sent from my Xperia Z3C using Tapatalk
Hey you're right, the camera button launches the camera... Sweet. Been missing that feature since I dumped stock. The button doesn't take pictures or focus at the moment, but very promising so far. I'll be checking this forum frequently for updates.
Some bugs I've encountered:
1) when activated in power menu, airplane mode cant be turned off the same way (the button is "stuck"?), I have to turn it off from phone settings
2) when connected to the magnetic charger, celullar coverage gets destroyed and you cant get a signal until reboot
3) changing dpi causes play store to not display modal messages (like the one that shows app permissions) and recovery to fail (its not readable at all)
4) some apps fail to be updated, for example dashclock, need to uninstall completely from rom and reinstall from play store
5) battery life is awful (or maybe i´ve been to comfortable with stock amazing batt life)
6) screen rotation acts up (even though is disabled, desktop and app drawer still rotate), maybe is a launcher issue
7) NOISY camera (but thats to be expected)
All in all, a GREAT first release. Thank you so much for the time invested and for the port, I hope you keep updating and maybe become a device mantainer
Some requests:
1) slimsizer, I use it a lot (i like my rom to be MINIMAL)
2) a good kernel recommendation (battery life on this one is just sad)
On another note, do any of you have any apps broken since lollipop? Some of my favorite games dont seem to work (might and magic , platinum solitaire, bejewled are some of them)
I´ll keep testing today and report back any bugs
@daha2002 I would check our setup!
1, nope,working fine for me.
2, cant confirm as I'm at work right now.
3, nope,working fine here
4, hmm OK I'll look into it
5, fair play battery life not as good as stock, but you've not been running the rom long enough for a true evaluation of that.
6, nope, works fine here
7, yep

sorry for off topic question, but why haven't you published validus builds for z3c?:silly:
I wouldn't call the battery terrible. Yes , it's worse than stock, but it's pretty good for custom rom.
I'm guessing once the WiFi disconnecting problem goes away and maybe with another good kernel in tow, the rom battery will be as good as the stock.

Hello people, this is the first public build of SlimLP for grouper on 5.1. Soon tilapia will follow
While internal testing was successful, I need someone to check out how it behaves in real life scenarios. Features included but not tested are f2fs support ( /data and /cache) and multirom.
Let me know of any bugs/missing features and other annoyances. Cheers
Is USB audio working and is DSP Manager functioning with it? Never tried SlimKat and would be eager to try this but headphone amp on this tablet is terrible.
BTW, it works on CM but they use half-baked AudioFX instead of DSP Manager.
Didn't flashed it yet but I wouldn't be surprised if audioFX is here as well. It present on other devices.

It may be ancient but it has the Bauer stereophonic to binaural transformation which IMO is essential when using headphones.
On CM12 (from last month, at least) AudioFX doesn't even work with USB audio, though it works with headphone port.
So the question remains, do USB DACs work on this ROM?

Thanks for the new build, happy to see that you're carrying on for grouper. I really like layers and I know that Slim has not yet committed to it for 5.1.1. Will you possibly be cherry-picking layers commits in the meantime from @ezio84 in your future builds, or will your builds be pretty much straight from source?
Thanks again,
Mike T

Try f2fs as well. Don't have this device right but I will flash it soon and won't have time for f2fs testing.
Please port IBSS mode on this ROM from CM or at least show how it could be done on slimrom.
Just flashed.
F2FS (data/cache) works fine.
I will report back if there is any problem found.
Good work!

Wow, a new thread for nobody to post in lol. Anyways, here is this weeks build. Lots of merges from the past few days. Also a lot of cherry picks from me. Let me know if you guys see anything wrong.
ROM - Slim-deb-5.1.1.beta.0.1-UNOFFICIAL-20150712-0442
GAPPS - gapps.BETA.5.1.build.0.x-20150709
Thanks RobbieL811. Installed last published - stuck on boot animation installing also GApps ("zero" version), everything fine without GApps (installed lately from PlayStore). Using latest touch CWM.
I'll publish my consideration after some days of using your ROM, hoping to be helpful in. Thanks for your work - I was waiting for a Slim , coming from SlimKAT.
Falsh problem with GApps
UPDATE: it seems there's a problem with Google Apps. Two different cases, both involving GApps.
1) Flashed ROM then GApps - stuck at boot animation (flashed clean) for 30mins+
2) Flashed ROM only - everything worked fine, reboot ok - then installed GApps from Google Play Store (G+, Voice, Now, GMail, Text to speech) not using the linked zip, and at next reboot got again stuck at booting animation for 30mins+. As test, I flashed dirty Euphoria over SlimLP (no changes to installed apps), and booted good (other than error in android.phone app, but I expected some errors due to the dirty flash).
wow finally Slim for DEB is here!
thanks for this man! please keep it up....!
Alright peeps. New build is up. Go get it.
ROM - Slim-deb-5.1.1.beta.0.2-UNOFFICIAL-20150721-0313
GAPPS - gapps.BETA.5.1.build.0.x-20150717
94+ hours of uptime on the latest build (which I dirty flashed), and all is good. In fact, by now on previous builds my touchscreen would get erratic, the same way as was common for many users when official KK dropped.
One question: before I would swipe up from the dock's center button (default apps button) to launch a search. Where did this go? It's disappeared as a default, but I can't find it in the settings menu

Edit: i tried some other gapps. All end in a bootloop.

I need some time to work on it. I got a new server and it seems that it's IP is banned by Google. I am gonna try to make some calls on Monday to try to get it straightened out. No Android work until then.

Definitely interested in this... staying tuned for a working build/gapps combo.

Charming
Any SlimM development planned for Deb or is it being dropped?
I have regretfully walked away from Slim. I face it, and effectively it's dead, despite assurances. It was the nicest ROM I used, but here we are still looking at the occasional alpha, while M is active already.
So long Slim. Thanks to the devs for all the hard work.
I was just going to go back to the latest Slim Beta. I miss Slim. But you know what? I never noticed, the minigapps is wrong. It's actually the Multi-DPI zip, but named minigapps. Check on each download page, the MD5s are the same.

Flash the ROM at your own risk.
I accept NO responsibility for what you do (or can't do) with your own device. I am not responsible for bootloops, fruitloops or frickazees.
I DO accept responsibility for: Thermonuclear detonation & Zombie Apocalypse.
1) Backup & Factory reset then flash in recovery:
TWRP 3.0.0-0 (if anyone flashes with a higher version, please report)
2) Flash Gapps (recommend micro) - http://opengapps.org/
3) Screen will blank after a few minutes on the initial startup after flashing, the first boot may take several minutes (be patient, it will boot)
I started compiling this ROM as Unofficial because I have been using AICP exclusively for 2 years (on M7 & now Bacon) and figure if no one objects I can share some of the work. This is my HOBBY.
With that I say THANK YOU AICP (LorD ClockaN, n3ocort3x & semdoc along with their entire dev team) for bringing such terrific work to our devices. Special thanks to LorD ClockaN (motivation, encouragement, help & backbone of Official AICP), Pranav Cherukupalli & the legwork for the sources & kernels by Amaradeep Arora.
I make no claim to doing any more than compiling and making minor changes to what I want from the build. I own this device and enjoy making some minor modifications & tinkerings - I hope you will also. PEACE.
Basic Changes from "Official" AICP Rom:
OTA is NOT enabled on my build
(dirty flashing an "Official" over my build & vice versa does work, most changes I made are cosmetic with some cherri-picks)
I don't recommend "backwards" flashing dirty - so check the build dates
Custom Boot Animation
Unofficial AICP Logos [WIP]
Custom App for Unofficial Wallpapers (Thank you Jason Townley for the awesome Game or ROMs screen)

Recommended Gapps:
MUST flash 7.1 Gapps on the latest build. Tested with Slim's Revisited & opengapps / both boot fine.
Sim Revisited Gapps
TWRP 3.0 - Read this entire page first! If you flash with a higher version, please comment and let us know if it is successful.

New build 12/14 - new (WIP) TWRP Flashable boot-animation
The 12/12 build was constantly freezing up on me. I was using open gapps and I had a calendar has stopped working report. I was forced to stop using it because of the crashes were happening too often so I didn't get to notice more bugs.
I am downloading the 12/14 build and hope to test it tomorrow. Thanks
---------- Post added at 05:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:40 AM ----------
So spent a little time with it. I turned Google now on tap on and it said Google has crashed. Did that twice and then it stopped trelling me it wasn't working.
Also, when I tried to delete some quick settings buttons, the system ui would crash
That all I noticed but very nice Rom man. Buttery smooth.
Oh, BTW, I noticed I can't customize what the back button does but I can the menu and home button. Is that like that for all mm roms? I've been trying to find one but haven't seen one yet.
I haven't tried gravity box but on other mm roms, gravity box wasn't working. They may have updated it now but at least about a week ago it wasn't working.

Are you using opengapps? I don't use Google Now because of the battery drain, but I tried on the latest build and didn't get any crash with "Ok Google" from voice activated or from the search bar.
I had issues with editing quick settings buttons on 12/12 build (actually reboot), 12/14 was more stable I think too. My 12/12 build was compiled early in the AM (05:22AM), later that day there were some merges for settings tiles that may have not made it into that build. There have been some more changes according to gerritt - I will re-sync and compile again this afternoon.

Yes. Exactly, except the newest build I can not change quick setting buttons. Also, Google now on tap doesn't work. I have not used it yet because no mm roms I've used works with it yet... Haven't tried a lot of mm roms.
Dev for this, will you please add customizable back button. I've got way to used to it on roms now. I don't like doing xposed cause its one more thing to screw up for me. Regardless, I will prolly just set the menu button up if the back key isn't added.

[ROM][AOSP][7.1/8.1/9.0 BETA] Unlegacy Android Project

The Unlegacy Android ProjectIntroduction
Unlegacy Android started out as the OMAP4-AOSP Project. It was created in late 2015 in order to maintain a clean and organized place for pure AOSP support for various OMAP4 devices, such as the Galaxy Nexus and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 series. Over time this evolved to support more than just these devices, but still maintains its roots of supporting "legacy" devices that no longer receive "official" updates: hence Unlegacy Android was born. In our opinion, these ROMs are how the official updates would look.
On top of AOSP, we only include changes which are necessary to support the hardware, be secure, and get acceptable performance. Current features for mako include:
- Linux kernel 3.4.y merged in (currently 3.4.113 - mostly security patches and minor bug fixes)
- BFQ IO scheduler (official kernel 3.4 release), set up so GUI processes have the highest priority
- F2FS support from kernel 4.9 (for /data only! no point of f2fs on /cache)
- SELinux in Enforcing mode
Installation
If you're planning to install GApps, be sure to read the second post!
Aside from that, installation and upgrading is no different than on other ROMs.
Problems
- No known issues for mako yet.
If you notice anything, be sure to report it in this thread. Stability is our main concern. While I'm kind of busy, I usually read the thread and acknowledge the bug reports, even if I don't reply directly to them.
Downloads
See: http://builds.unlegacy-android.org. Our automated builds ensure that we always have the latest Android security patches merged in, without having to manually start and upload builds
We will have a built-in OTA updater (just like stock) soon (it's a work in progress)
Features?
There isn't much to say here - this is AOSP, if you install GApps, you pretty much get the same thing that's running on the Nexus devices (see the second post). The aim of this project is to create a fast and stable ROM - although, one could use Xposed (or similar) to add extra features.
As usual, feedback is appreciated

GApps
If you want to install GApps, we recommend Open GApps Micro.
An important note: as this is a pure AOSP ROM, installing GApps tends to be problematic: in order to try to avoid installation issues, be sure to install GApps immediately after installing the ROM, before booting the system for the first time. If you experience any issues with the Google applications, be sure to go into Settings -> Apps, and grant every permission to every Google application - most importantly, Google Play services.
In the case of an upgrade, be sure to re-install the GApps package, as upgrading wipes /system. You shouldn't need to re-set the permissions afterwards.
Stock-like setup
Disable the following built-in (AOSP) apps:
- Android keyboard (once you installed Gboard)
- Browser
- Calculator
- Camera
- Clock
- Email
- Gallery
Install the following apps from the Play store:
- Google Photos (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.photos)
- Calculator (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.calculator)
- Chrome (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome)
- Clock (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.deskclock)
- Gboard (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin)
- Gmail (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gm)
- Google Calendar (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.calendar)
- Google Camera (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera)
SafetyNet
The ROM should pass SafetyNet after installing GApps, without anything else. Keep in mind that installing extra stuff (SU, ...) might make it fail!
Rooting
You can flash the latest Magisk to get rooted.
Just a little note on this, I've been testing his build and it's been really smooth so far. (Even more than my own AOSP build) Also for other ROM's devs out there, he's the original dev who fixed the sensors and he also fixed the camera without relying on AOSP hacks. (Well except SELinux but that's another thing...) You can check out the source for more info about it.
Because I didn't have much time to work on it, I want to thank @Ziyan for his work on this. I could even say that eventual people who are currently on the AOSP build should go on this one moving forward.
From 1 February I check ROM periodically. For now ROM is not for me. It is too raw.
There are no navigation buttons for me and I can not disable them if I want to use Button Savior, for example. ROM does not see WiFi 5GHz.
However, I am pleased that there's a thread on XDA.
Forgive me if it has already been posted in the gapps thread, but is open gapps working for 7.1.2 builds? Last I checked, it was reported that setupwizard crashes on 7.1.2 due to being outdated. Thx!

That's right.
The ROM immediately shows 2 GHZ interfaces.
Within 12 seconds after the WiFi is switched on, 5 GHz interfaces are also displayed.
I was impatient.
If I dirty flash from 7.1.1 to 7.1.2 this ROM will be work without any issues?
I did a clean flash wiped everything but internal storage
I lose root frequently on this ROM and other nougat ROMs I'm using multirom twrp and multirom and hellspawn aosp nougat kernel revision 5
This ROM was installed in the primary slot of multirom
I used super su 2.79 and also tried magisk v12 neither worked
I used a 7.1.2 build with only flashing ROM and modifications : v4a an adreno driver and hellspawn kernel then booting
Then reboot to recovery and install open gapps pico 7.1
What am I doing wrong ?
Is multirom the culprit ?

Hello!
I was able to install the GAPPs:
1) flash rom
2) turn on the N4
3) flash gapps
4) superSU flash (optional)
That way I did not use the setup wizard, I just added my Google account to the Play Store.

Soon! our Nexus 5 maintainer (I don't have a Nexus 5, 4 is still my daily driver) just fixed a camera bug, according to him, only some selinux fixes are remaining until the thread can be opened
Hi again, loving the rom so far and thx very much for keeping the n4 alive! I understand the rom will not have any custom rom features since it's strictly AOSP, but I wonder if it might be possible to include ambient display? It is too useful for the screen to automatically turn on without having to press power button which many n4 owners probably have problems with, and to see notifications in a dimmer black and white screen that is unobtrusive which can return to full brightness and colour with a touch of the screen.
Thx again and very grateful for your work for the n4 community!
Thanks for your hard work and this great and very stable ROM @Ziyan :good:
