HEllo,
I'm actually trying to hack THOMSON THBK1-10 tablet (also know at VOYO A1).
This is a dual boot system with Android 4.4.2, and Windows 8.1, based on Bay Trail (Atom Z3720) CPU. Running kernel is 3.4.43
After a long fight, i gained accesses to /system and /data partitions.
I have so copyed su binary, and changed the access mode to ugo+rx. Good !
Sadly, this is not enough to gain root access. everytime i'm issuing su command i got into a $ prompt.
I must mention i only have ADB wireless for this device: the USB is acting as an USB host, it is not possible to plug it into a PC/MAC.
My question is what i must check, do, to gain root accesses ? What should i look, try, dig ?
Thank you !
Self reply: you only need to have SU installed, as i mentionned.
Dear Folks,
i'm new to ubuntu touch and got a Nexus4 to play with. I'm looking for traditional linux services
on the Nexus such as iptables, openvpn or squid and are wondering why those packages are not
populated in the apt vivid sources. Is there any alternative source to get and install those packages?
Hi,
apt-get is sadly only available if your image is in read-write mode, which will in turn disable system updates. The reason for that is that the image-based delta updates require your system partition to be untouched.
If you want this feature, you could state so here: https://plus.google.com/108554416426692294217/posts/CVLTy3ehaJ5
You can find out more about read-write mode on the page with the installation instructions.
I have Chuwi Hi10 Pro tablet (Windows 10 Home + Remix OS 2.0 Dual Boot). After using it about a month, I want to root the Remix OS, but, I don't want to lose any data. As far as I read from the Internet, rooting is possible by unlocking bootloader or flashing the whole Remix OS that is prerooted, which most likely wiping all the data in the process.
Since this is a dual boot tablet, I can boot to Windows 10 and mount Remix's ext4 partition using ext2fsd. I can view the file, but I'm afraid to touch it because I don't know what will happen.
Is there any way to root the Remix OS side by "copying" the required SU binary from the Windows 10? Is there any danger modifying the system files outside the Android environment? Will it do calculations like checksum on boot and will refuse to boot if the filesystem is modified?
If anyone know how to root it without data wipe, let me know Thanks
*tried root exploit like framaroot, kingoroot, no joy
Bump!

Hi,
i've succesfully installed PlayStore on my acer chromebook 14 cb3-431 using the classic procedure but it disappears everytime after os restart.
If i enter in the shell and i write the procedure it appear with all the relative apps.
Is it normal or is possibile fix it in some way? Is quite boring to enter in the shell everytime...
Thanks in advance!
For chromebooks not with official Play Store, you need to reinput the script. You android program reload without doing anything.
