Ascend Mate 2: "unable to mount storage" When Flashing Cyanogenmod - Huawei Ascend Mate 2

Errors While Trying To Install CyanogenMod
I am currently trying to install cyanogenmod on my HAM2. I have an unlocked bootloader, latest version of TWRP installed, and cynogenmod in the root of my sd card. I have cleared my cache, delvik cache, and system as well. However I keep getting an error telling me "unable to mount storage during GUI start up" and the other saying that there was an "error executing updater binary in zip external sdcard cyanogemod." Can someone please assist me as to how to resolve this issue ?

Are you using the correct version of TWRP? You can find it at http://android.cmphys.com/twrp-mt2/ . Also did you update to B322 before flashing.?You can also find instructions here. Its from the PAC thread but it applies to Cyanogenmod as well you can find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62508471&postcount=3 . the TWRP version listed in the instructions is the old one but either one should work. There's also videos that show you how to flash TWRP and install Cyanogenmod step by step. You can find them here https://www.youtube.com/user/superbass311 . There's also a starter pack for new users that might be helpful you can find it here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9t_gcL17JqtSnV0eGpiLWpHaWs/view . its mostly text files with links to what you will need. try this and see if this helps any.

Hi Robert, yes I am currently running TWRP 2.8.7.0 right now and yes I was running b322 at the time of install. I followed that same video actually, step by step. I have actually done it twice now, and I still receive the same error. I will go ahead and try the starter pack you gave to me. Ill update soon.

Did you wipe Data as well when you did your wipe? You didn't include it in your original post so I figured I would ask?

Which version ham/2 do you have? CC or stock or what.

Try an older version of CM. I ran into some strange SD card behavior yesterday. Go back a week or so and try to install.

KimTyson is correct. There was an issue. Download an older version of CM and try again. It has been confirmed by three people. I still use 9/17/2015.

Sorry I did not post earlier but using a the version of twrp that was suggested to me actually worked, I am not sure if it was something i did wrong on my part but everything is working fine now

[Q] Huawei U8860 Read-only file system

Hello Everyone,
I badly need help on my Huawei Honor U8860 phone. I have recently updated it from 2.3.6 to 4.03 over WIFI and the update went smoothly. So now here is what my phone have:
Kernel Version: 3.0.8-perf-00059-g3a757a2 [email protected] #1
Build Number: U8860IV100R001C00B923SP01
I have not rooted the phone at this time. It was working fine until 2 days ago when I started getting messages on the screen like:
"Unfortunately, 2D Home has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Google Play has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Settings has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Google Play Music has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Browser has stopped"
And so on, and so forth. It seems that all apps and processes have stopped when I try to use them so I literally can't use the phone. I went through several threads here just trying to restore my phone back to a
working state. I tried to do the following in order but without success:
1.) Factory data reset / erase everything - the phone boots to the recovery menu then it formats the /Data, /Cache and /HWUserData then it reboots. After reboot, the phone is back to where it was before the factory data reset with everything in it including downloaded apps.
2.) Manually uninstalled all downloaded apps. Removed screen lock (just to see if phone behavior changes). Then rebooted the phone but after reboot, all the apps are still installed and the screen lock is back as well.
3.) I tried to Force Update with the following official ROMs: B886, B919 and B923 but I always get the message "Update failed" during the update process.
4.) I downloaded the file "recovery-u8860-en.img" so I can replace the "recovery.img" file . Rebooted the phone w/ the pink screen and connected it to my PC but there is no USB mass storage device mounted.
5.) Finally, I tried to root the phone. I enabled USB debugging. I installed the ADB drivers then I downloaded the U8860 root tools and rootexplorer.apk. When I ran the "root-me.cmd", it tried to copy some files to the phone but it failed. The error was "read-only file system".
So it seems that the problem is because of the "read-only filesystem". I does not permit/allow any changes made to the phone. Can you help me restore my phone?
Please.. Can somebody help me on this?
Thanks, clint2rose

I still did not find any solution for my problem. I read from this thread that all ICS versions can be downgraded.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552038&page=232
Is there a way to downgrade from B923 to B919? I think this will solve the problem I'm facing.

try to back-up some of the data form the partitions that are full on your phone and delete them, maybe afterwards the stock-rom-flashing procedure will work again.

thanks for the reply. it did not work. I even formatted the internal SD. Re-run the firmware update but it failed. when i boot the phone, all the contents of the internal SD remains intact. any other suggestion?

what do you mean by flashing your current ROM? Just like any other stock ROM put the dload folder on the sd-card and start the update procedure either from the settings menu or via the boot-key-combination.
Yes the way you discribed is the correct one for flashing those patches, If those patches also don't work, I'm out of ideas, sorry.

Thank you once more for your time. Most of the thread I read regarding these patches often used the phrase" you have to flash the current version of your ROM using the patch"...
And yes I created dload folder, place the UPDATE.APP and put it on the sdcard. I turned off the phone and removed the battery. Then I pressed vol+ vol- and power on/off button. The firmware update went to about 70% installing before displaying update failed.
I guess I will have to bring my phone to a repair center. My only problem is that there is no Huawei service center at my place (I reside here in Saudi Arabia). I got the phone as a free device on a broadband package and the warranty is already expired. I'm a little worried to take the phone to the small mobile repair shops as they might screw up the phone even more. Huawei is not a popular device here unlike iPhone, HTC and Samsung Galaxy.
As I understood that your device is rooted, you should get some custom ROM and try to install it.

you don't need to be rooted, you only need to have a custom recovery deployed (which you can either do with root permissions, or by using the pink screen method, but some newer stock roms (you said your on 932 or something? last non-locked working is b919) this has been locked and the device will not boot if the kernel or the recovery image has been manipulated.
I think you will have to find some (huawei-certified!) repair-center, small do-it-all phone-shops probably won't be able to take care of this problem for you.. I'm sorry but I don't see any other solution

Ok. I will try to find a repair-center experienced in Huawei devices. I have one last question if you don't mind. Is it possible to erase everything on the phone? As in completely erase or reformat after which there will not be an operating system on the phone. I read in some threads that this is possible w/ custom recovery but I want to know if it is also possible for phones without the custom recovery. I'm hoping there might be some tool or something..

Have you find the solution yet? I have the same problem. Somehow my phone system is "locked". I can't install or uninstall app. Some google apps keep showing not responding. Everything changes i made, keep showing up after the phone rebooted.
This was happen a few days after I upgrade to ICS B932SP01 and rooted my phone (to remove original chinese apps).
Luckily i have friend in huawei indonesia. He gave my u8860 to the technical support. But the result was no good.
They try everything, even install my phone with the original GB and always failed.
The last suggestion is change the phone machine, which is as same as buy a new phone.
I really appreciate is someone can help me here...
Thanks

[Q] Two ROMs trying to load at once?

Hi!
This is my first time ever posting here and although I've found some topics relating to my issue, none have helped me out.
My problem:
I downloaded an app called Flashify.
From the app, I downloaded android 4.4 KitKat because I wanted to update my ROM.
When I booted my phone into recovery (stock <3e>), I clicked on install from SD card, installed the .zip file but I got an error...
It read:
"E:failed to verify whole-signature"
"E:signature verification failed"
"E:update fail and delete temp files"
"formatting /cache..."
Instalation aborted.
Now, if I try to set up my phone again, I'll get as far as the welcome screen and it will always say:
"Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped."
Please help.
I've tryed everything and I can't get rid of that error!
Thank you
Oh by the way, I forgot to give some details
The phone is a Huawei Ascend g330 U8825-1
Android 4.0.4 ICS
Rooted
Running stock everything (or at least it was...)
The file I tryed to install is called: "gapps-kk-20140105-signed-4.4.zip"
Did you even look at a guide on how to update your phone? Actually, I am quite sure you didn't or else you completely misunderstood everything you read. Neither is a good thing when trying to do something complicated like updating your phone unofficially.
1) You can't install a custom rom with stock recovery.
2) You didn't even download a rom - those are the Google Apps that are to be installed along with a custom rom like CyanogenMod.
3) You have to unlock the bootloader to install the custom recovery that will allow you to install updates not signed directly by Huawei.
I suggest you read through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198908
There are links in the later pages to a version of 4.4.2 from the Modaco forums, as well as links to the original firmware, which you will probably need to re-install if a factory reset doesn't help.

I'm new to all of this and I thought that the app that I downloaded could do it all in one operation.
I wanted to take a chance and see would happen, thinking that any consequences that may occur, could be fixed with a factory reset.
Thanks for the link and the advice.
I'll have a read, now
Is it a serious problem or is there any way to fix it?
I tryed unlocking the Bootloader in DC-Unlocker but to no avail.

Nubia Z7 (nx506J) working with Google Apps.

I have a nubia z7 with rom version 2.05 (Android 5 and Nubia UI 3), with google apps working without problems. Even youtube.
It took 3 days to figure out how to do it, without rooting the phone.
But some tools are needed...
I upgraded my phone rom (which came with version 2.26, a modified 1.26), put rom 2.02 then 2.03 and at last 2.05, which is the last one in nubia chinese site.
I used nubia rom updater, for the roms version 2.02 and 2.03 you have to decompress to each folder and point nubia updater to that folder.
The last one (version 2.05), i used option update of the phone.
Then uninstalled every chinese app. Downloaded gapps micro for android 5.0.1 and copy to the internal storage.
Then rebooted the phone with TWRP and installed the zip file. With TWRP root the phone, in advanced menu.
After that, i reboot into android system and made login into google play and updated everything.
It's a google phone now.
I think this should work for Nubia Z7 mini and Nubia Z7 Max
I hope this help someone

hi, i'm Senh0r. I had logged with an old account.
now you can uninstall all chinese apps ,that you don't want.
then copy file gapps to internal storage.
Check if you have port ADB selected, by inserting on dial number *#7678# , if not, select it.
Now run the TWRP, which is in chinese, when the menu show up, choose option 3 and wait for the phone reboot into TWRP.
When you enter in TWRP, on bottom of screen you can choose english language.
After that is only to install the zip file. don't check for signature.
Now it's only need to reboot phone.
To enter on TWRP you need always to run the program to reboot your phone.
Anything ask

Call me an idiot, but I didn't make a backup of the delivered stock ROM KitKat 2.26.
Please have you guys an image? I am stuck for good.
And cleaned the cache and dalvik partition too? Mine its working with no problems.
Cleaned cache etc.
I could hit me for being so stupid to forget backing the original ROM up.
I can easily go to a stock Chinese ROM but at least a KitKat Google ROM would be nice.
Señor or anyone, can you provide a image of 2.26?
Unfortunately I didn't backup it either , but soon I will create a zip file with my Rom with Google apps installed.
I will check Nubia site for older roms too.
Getting the hands on an 1.26 is relatively easy, but the googlefied 2.26 seems to be rather hard to find ...

Hi, I have read that senor twrp does not work on 4.4.2, are you confirming it does. My biggest question I need answered before I do anything is, if I install twrp how do I go back to stock recovery so I can do Ota updates to get to lollipop. Thanks.
Sorry but I can't confirm weather it fully works or not. I followed señor's guide and updated the phone. But if I recall the thread correctly from nubia cn forums the stock ROM should be a slightly modified twrp anyways.
Try just going into the recovery mode.
You should be able to backup the ROM.
Thanks for the invested time.

Transformer Prime slow, unresponsive and does not update (from stock to 7.1.2)

Hello,
My rooted Transformer Prime was becoming so slow, I eventually unlocked the bootloader and flashed it … at first with Android 5 KatKiss. But it growed slow quite rapidly.
So I flashed it again with the latest build of KatshMallow 6 but after a few months, Google Play entered in a login loop so I could not update my apps nor install new ones.
So I flashed it once more with KatKiss 7.1.2 #26, a few weeks ago. From the start it was really unresponsive and quite slow (being two different symptoms). I tried to tweak it with Kernel Adiutor but to no avail.
Two days ago, it would not update one of my apps (but updated the others). And today the updates stalled in the "download pending" state.
What can I do to troubleshot my TF201 and give her a youth treatment against what seems like planned obsolescence (I didn't know Asus was following this trend)?
Many thanks in advance!
What version of TWRP are you using?
Are you doing a full wipe (not including the recovery partition)?
Are you changing the /DATA file system partition to F2FS ?
A few things that might be mucking up the flash.
NP
Ok, here are the info:
— bootloader 1.00e released by ww_epad_10.6.1.27-20130711 A03
— TWRP 2.8.7.4 @area51
— I formated /data in f2fs
— I wiped Dalvik Cache, System, Cache, Data AND Internal Storage
— last time I flashed, I followed the instruction from point 8 of https://forum.xda-developers.com/tr...uide-tutorial-asus-transformer-prime-t3486237
Does this help? Any tool or other ways to help diagnose my problems?
I would update the TWRP to the latest version found here;

Install that ROM and don't install all your apps for 24h or so. If it's still slow then it might be on the way out. These things are getting old.
If you're happy after a day or so then proceed to install the ROM of your choice.
I don't see where you do a [FORMAT];
Go to twrp/wipe/format data then type yes
This is the 1st step after you boot into the recovery console.

Yes, I did it.
I wonder if it's "slow" like the rest of our tablets, compared with new devices, my TF201 is no speed demon by any stretch of the imagination, but it can run KODI and other
apps under 7.1.2 that it couldn't under 4.1.1. I find I'm waiting a few seconds after tapping on the app button for it to open but it's not a long pause.

Okay, so I downgraded to AndroWook Prime HairyBean v2.31, as suggested by djmcnz. Great move :good: as I recovered the responsiveness I was used to: now, when I click something, the related event happens without delay (these few-seconds delays were happening when opening an app, like Nektopoli said, but unfortunately also whenever I interacted with anything, in any app). Sure, I would not say it really "unleashed the beast": I know our TF201 are not in the same league as more recent devices. Still, it's also way faster than it became with the flashing explained in my original post. Moreover, in more than a month, I had no problem updating apps. So in a way, original problem solved. Thanks all! :highfive:
But … now my problem is I need a newer Android to be able to install some apps/games, mostly turn-based boardgames (I have no need for realtime 3D on my tablet).

Right now, the one that's provided to install Androwook, ie. 2.5.0.0
Here's TWRP 2.8.5.1: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934539154
Flash this, once you get into TWRP v2.8.5.1 working you can flash 3.1.0-1 it's an IMG file and 2.5.0.0 won't flash IMG files so you have to upgrade in steps.
TWRP 3.1.0-1 is here: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767150802

So I did flash TWRP 2.8.5.1 and reboot: okay.
Then I flashed TWRP 3.1.0-1 but now I get a "Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000000)" message when I try to reboot in recovery :crying:
What can I do now as I cannot use TWRP anymore to flash anything

Tried to use fastboot to flash it again and it worked. Now, going on wiping, formating and flashing the rom.
I had the same problem. Just typing ten letters in a text entry box could take a minute to complete.
Fix was to run Trimmer (fstrim) by AdminseHow from the play store. Sorry I can't link because my account is too new. App is totally free, no ads, no purchases, no begging for donations. It does require root.
It trimmed 185 MB on first run which doesn't sound like a lot but the difference was huge. Can actually use a web browser now. It has an auto-trim feature; be sure to enable this. The default interval (weekly) is fine.
Bloopbloopson, I'm giving fstrim a try.

Nook Tablet 16GB AOSP Android 7 Guide Error

Hello!
I apologize if I have posted this in the wrong place. I have searched high and low for a solution to my issue and I cannot find one. I have the 16GB Nook Tablet and I followed the [HOW TO] guide in order to install android 7.0 by nmyshkin I believe it was. Anyways, when I try to install the .zip file for aosp Acclaim, I get an error that says "Can't install this package over newer build" ERROR 7. Any idea on how to fix this? The tablet was previously rooted a few years ago with CM; however, I do not know what I did with it at the time. Right now I am just trying to get my tablet back in running condition as there is no OS on it at all right now and the CM bootloader and TWRP are the only things on it as far as I can tell. Any help would be great!

In my experience that error is produced by attempting to use the wrong recovery. Did you use the TWRP recovery listed in the instructions?

I did and no luck...I'm going to start from scratch again and make sure I did not miss anything, starting with brand new files. Wish me luck I suppose!
*SUCCESS*
So I am not entirely sure what happened, but I deleted, redownloaded, wiped, and then reinstalled all of the files from the tutorial and now everything is working. Tablet is still booting up so lets cross our fingers that all boots well!
