Hello to all,
i like to share my new app with you. It´s a Visual Task switcher in the style of Dynamo3, but it´s written in native Win32 C++.
You should map the App to an Application button. Once started, the app scans all active windows and shows the windows on the screen. After this moment it monitors the running tasks and takes screenshots. Just tap on the screen to minimize, tap on a picture to activate the app or scroll up/down with moving on the screen (if there are more app than there is space on the screen).
You can configure many things in the config tool.
It should work with every resolution....
Have fun...
Greets,
Thomas
0.97
-technology switch to DirectDraw. Better performance in scrolling and zooming.
-tap and hold to close an application
-faster reaction time, but higher memory consumption when not active (the background-bitmap is not deleted)
-Version 0.961 still available for devices where the 0.97 version won´t work.
-reduced filesize
0.961
-stability fixes
0.96
-you can select between left/right or up/down scrolling
-better initialisation of background pictures
-some improvements regarding not-existing windows
0.95
-bugfixs in VisualTaksConfig-Tool wich prevents app from starting
-fixes when switching portrait/lanscape mode (pictures will not be deleted)
-stability fixes
-you can prevent VT from scanning windows by setting ScanInterval to 0
0.945
-some stability fixes for the runtime-crashes
-graphical fixes when not using a background image
-bugfixes on deleting windows-snapshot that no longer exists
-usable in Landscape or Portrait mode
-tested on 240x320, 480x640 emulator images and on 480x800 device (G900)
0.94
-configurable space between the screenshots
-window text now at the bottom of the screenshot
-improved animations
-SIP input button is now hidden
-some bugfixes
0.93
-improved animations for activating the app and selecting the windows (try the "Intro Animation" in the config tool!)
-configurable ignore-list for windows (if you want to ignore the phone app, it could be that it has a blank behind it´s name!)
-configurable scan-time for the first app-scan
-improved stability
-bugfixes wich prevents the app from starting on some devices
0.92
-there is a scan for active windows at the first start of the app
-Gesture control. You can now scroll up/down by screen gesture if there are more windows than there is space on the screen
-names of the window are shown over the pictures
-improved stability
0.91
-New Configuration Tool with many options
-.exe file smaller
-made a .cab for installation
In the Config tool you can now configure the opacity for the background (if you use a background picture you can use 0 for opacity), the background picture, the capture intervall, the layout style, start animation or not and the animation smoothness.

how is it practically different to Dynamo 3 and any screens?

or mortbuttons task switcher...
also what the memory footprint like considering the screenshots and how often are these taken
It takes about 1.5 Megs of Memory with 8 screen-shots of 240*320 quality (for the zoom-effect), it´s about 120-150Kb per process. At the moment a screenshot are taken after 2 sec a new process is started.
Just try it....if you like it use, if not don´t use it..
Well, it is faster than Dynamo/TaskFacade.
It doesn't have auto-scaling icons (always 4x4 setup). That would be nice.
There are no animations.
The background seems to consist of 2-3 semitransparent programs all shown over each other. I find it confusing and would like to have a solid background or the background of just the application just before activating visualtasks.
The oldest application is shown in the upper left position. Newer windows fill the first line, then the next and so on. This means the newest applications position depends on the number of windows captured. This is not so great. Reverse sorting would be nice.
It captures windows and not applications.
Just like Dynamo, it can risk capturing the today screen twice. This means two icons both showing the today screen.

The background should consist of the last Application Window in a transparent form. On my devices it is so (Universal, G900 and the Emulator of VS2005).
Sure it captures Windows, if there is a background application it has nothing to cature..
There should be a zoom animation when activating a window?! Wich device do you use..?

But what is shown behind the transparent window? Right now, I don't see more than one application in full size, but I did see a mess of applications when I first started the application, including some corrupted image.

I am not sure I understand. Which point of mine are you replying to?

I have to correct myself. I do see an animation when I select an application to switch to.
Could you maybe make the fullsize image of the application used as background be aligned with the bottom of the screen in stead of the top? This would keep the image from being misaligned. You don't capture the titlebar of the screen which means you images are not fullscreen sized.
It is very annoying to have 2 icons going to the today screen, especially because there is 1 difference. The task manager where the close button normally is, is missing on one of the today screens.
This works great but disregards the phone and TOday screen.
First crash:
include/vector line 986 if I remember correctly.
Second crash:
Debug Assertion Failed!
Program: \Programmer\VisualTasks\VisualTasks.exe
File: C:\Programme\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\ce\include\vector Line: 986
Expression: vector erase iterator outside range
Also, the first time VT is started after this crash, all screenshots are shown fullsize, semitransparent and overlaying each other, showing 4+ images at the same time.
Device: HTC TYTN II
Tried to use this, but the transparent backgrounds overlapping each other made it almost unviewable. I'd recommend a user-defined static background over which to put the thumbnails.
And I for one like that it is window-based rather than program-based. The latter approach makes some applications unviewable.
Oh, and I'd like it not to exclude any programs by default (e.g. phone and today screens). Leave that up to us.
this is perfect man! THANKS!
have you tried using this outside or in a high glare situation? that transparent background is a nightmare....I can't even see the icons....please give us a plain background option.
Love the speed! That's what all of the others are lacking.
On my Titan, however, it's showing screenshots of all kinds of wacky stuff, like screens during transitions, etc.
I'd also like to see the button (whatever button you've mapped to activate it) also minimize it.
Hi, looks like a great app !
unfortunately it doesn't look so great on my 240x400 omnia
very fast, no crash, i like de transparancy for the background
it's a very good work
for me,better than dynamo
thx

Hei!!
I'm new on this forum with this smartphone, so i have some question
1.How to change number of quick links on main screen and how to change a size of quicklinks
2. How to remove big clock on main screen?
P.S.
When i bought a phone he has some tool with which i can do this acts, but i hard reset mobile and format sd card and tool erase from phone
google for 'cookies home tab mod'
yes, i found on this forum i think, the apps name is: Co0kie.HomeTab_v1.8.5
yep,. thats it, up to 75 quicklinks, change the clock how you want, , and much much more.
Is there anyway for someone to upload the the Xbox Homescreen mod for us to download? I tried making it but it was I just couldn't keep up with it. Maybe I'm just really lazy or a noob, I don't care what you call me, I just wanted to know if its possible. Or put it on the market. IDC Ill pay for it on the market.

Lol, I totally feel yall. I actually setup mine in a night, did custom graphics and all. It's actually really easy once you get the graphics, but until you get the graphics its really tedious. Basically, in a nutshell, you need a graphic for all your different "buttons". Then, install ADW and set it to have like 8 rows and 6 columns (that may not be the right configuration). Then, go install Desktop Visualizer. Then, create a widget for each of your different buttons, then set each widget with the proper graphic and to open the right file. Then, I added a long thing widget on the bottom for the shadow and had it do nothing, its just there for looks. And do that for each page of buttons... See its easy? lol...
I was thinking about putting together a tutorial and uploading all my icons and psd files for people... I might still do it. It's really not hard, and if I supplied the graphics then really you guys could get it setup and working in a matter of an hour or two. I tell ya what, if you beg and and beg and tell me im the best ill seriously consider it... lol. Im kidden... Kinda...

Oh and in case you were wondering, here is what it turned out to look like. Also, I liked this better since it would animate the tiles/icons based on the adw animation settings, where as the main tutorial we all seen it would only animated like the text or whatever... Which, I didn't really like. But yea, here is what I did, I really should throw my icons online for you guys.

Hey guys. I posted this tutorial in the other thread awhile back and I wasn't sure if you guys saw it yet. As far as I know there is only one real way to do this as tedious as it may seem, it's not all that bad once your really dive in and do it. If you guys need anything done on Photoshop let me know and i'll get them done for you. Consider this a "How To Xbox Theme your TFP For Dummies" haha as i've tried my very hardest to create an easy guide for even the most novice users. If I missed a step please let me know. Enjoy and let me know if anyone still needs help.
Download template here: http://fav.me/d4ydndp
What I Used:
ADW Launcher EX <- your launcher
Desktop Visualizer <- gives you invisible links for your tiles
Multipicture-LiveWallpaper <- allows you to have up to 9 screens
Folder Organizer (Light) <- gives you a list style folder
Simple Text <- make icon style text in a simple manner
AirDroid <- Godsend to homescreen editing
Beautiful Widgets <- My weather app
Xbox Live Avatar Widget <- Pure Awesomeness
A graphic program (In this case I used Photoshop CS4)
Before You Start:
Think about 9 different types of screenshots (i.e. home, social, video, music, etc.) as the 10th screen will be your apps drawer
Have an idea of which apps/folders you would like within each screens/wallpaper
1 - Basic Setup:
A. ADWSettings:
a. UI Settings
1. Icons
. Density Hack (checked)
. Fancy Background (unchecked)
. New Icons (checked)
2. Main Dock
. Enable Dock (unchecked)
3. Screen Preferences
. Desktop Columns – 10
. Desktop Rows – 6
. Show Desktop Indicator (unchecked)
. Home Orientation - Landscape
. Hide StatusBar (checked)
. Overlap Widgets (checked)
. Advanced Settings (all unchecked)
4. Drawer Settings
. All Personal Choice
. Background Color - #ff000000
b. General Behavior
1. Animation and Effects
. Infinite scroll (unchecked)
. Screen transition – Normal scroll
. Desktop scrolling speed – 120-130
. Desktop Bounce – 25 (personal choice)
. Wallpaper Scrolling (checked)
. Everything else is personal choice
B. Folder Organizer – think about which folder(s) you want to create (I have a music app folder and games folder)
a. Under Labels click any of the five options you have on the farthest right column (I’ll use games for example)
1. Click Layout
. Choose List With Text
b. Click Applications under the Labels column on the left hand side and scroll down and click an app that pertains to the “Label” you originally clicked (i.e. pick a game for a Games Label)
1. Click Rename on application you choose and add two extra spacings in front of the original name (“Angry Birds” is renamed to “ Angry Birds”)
2. Once you’ve done that go to the farthest column on the right and check the box right next to the word Game and follow up with the “<” symbol that’s highlighted (this puts the app that you selected into the Label that you box checked)
3. Repeat step b. for all game apps
c. Repeat Steps a. and b. for another folder (in my case I made a music app folder)
d. Once the folders have been made to your liking, click on one of the newly made custom folders (I’ll use Games for example)
1. Click Edit on the lower right hand corner
. Label name – name your folder with a small punctuation like “.” Or “,” minus the quotes (It’ll make sense later) (I used “.” for games and “,” for music apps)
. Fixed sort (unchecked)
2. Repeat step d. for all the folders you’ve made
C. Simple Text
a. Click “simple” of the four options given
1. X-Coordinate – 0
2. Y-Coordinate – 75
3. Text Size – 40
4. Rotate – 0
5. Auto scale, Gradient, and Shadow (unchecked)
6. Click the Color Box in the upper right hand
. Place white circle in the middle left hand corner to give you a gray color
. Slide vertical bar in the Alpha bar all the way to the left
7. Rename “simple” with any of the screenshot titles you want (i.e. home, social, video, etc.)
8. Click the transformers menu button on the bottom next to the back and home button (I’m not sure what its called) and select Save Style
9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 until you’ve created a simple text for all 10 of your screens/wallpapers (for my apps I made a “ooo” simple text in a white color)
2 – Layout-elements:
Refer to the template I provided for a better understanding
I have three types of tiles:
Green tiles
Picture tiles
Widgets tiles
Tile sizes: (use whichever sizes your hearts desire but I’ve highlighted the sizes that are found in my template)
1x1 = 119 x 112px
1x2 = 119 x 230px
1x4 = 119 x 466px
2x1 = 244 x 112px
2x2 = 244 x 230px
2x3 = 244 x 348px
2x4 = 244 x 466px
4x1 = 494 x 112px
4x2 = 494 x 230px
4x3 = 494 x 348px
4x4 = 494 x 466px
3 - Creating Layout:
First think about organizing your different screens, which apps should be launched directly, which widgets you like to use, which screens have folder, etc.
I have a screen for Search, Home, Social, Video, Music, Games, Image, Global, System, ooo (apps). Your setup doesn’t have to look like this as I encourage each person to have a sense of uniqeness to their layout. Figure out the names to all your screens and make each label in Simple Text. This step is important, because there are a lot of things to do and it saves you so much time! Trust me when I say that the simple text is the most tedious part of the whole setup and I found this out the hard way.
I did each layout in Photoshop and exported each screen to my transformer. Feel free to customize the template however you would like to (if you aren’t Photoshop savvy, P.M. me and I can help by making new tiles or teaching you how to do them). For those that have Photoshop experience, move the tiles around to your liking but keep a 7px space difference between each tile (to the left, right, above, and below). Once you’ve finished your layout on Photoshop, transfer each screen/wallpaper via AirDroid into a specific folder and name it “Xbox Theme” or whatever you prefer. Now the fun begins:
A. Multi-Live Wallpaper:
a. Common Settings
1. Background Color – Black
2. Crop/Resize Ratio – Fit to Fullscreen
3. Decrease Saturation – 100%
4. Decrease Opacity – 100%
b. Add individual settings
1. Add each screen under Picture source in an order you’ve designated (but remember the order)
2. Note that you are only allowed 9 screens/wallpapers and the 10th “screen” will be your app drawer
c. Lock screen settings (personal choice)
d. Transition type – Slide
e. Maximum memory usage – Auto
f. Color depth – True Color (24-bit)
B. Simple Text: (I can’t stress how tedious this is)
a. On each screen long press till you get Add to Home Screen and click Launcher Actions
b. Add Screen 1, Screen 2, Screen 3, etc.
c. Add Open/Close App Drawer
d. My setup:
1. Screen 1 – Search
2. Screen 2 – Home
3. Screen 3 – Social
4. Screen 4 – Video
5. Screen 5 – Music
6. Screen 6 – Games
7. Screen 7 – Image
8. Screen 8 – Global
9. Screen 9 – System
10. ooo
e. Long press Screen 1 and Edit
1. Delete Screen 1 and leave name blank
2. Click the original icon box and select ADWTheme IconPacks
3. There you will find the pre-made simple text icons that you created as instructed to before
4. Select the text according to what “Screen 1” was (in my case is was “Search”)
5. Press the transformer menu button right next to the back and home button and select Save Icon and continue by pressing OK
f. Repeat step e. for all 10 screens/wallpapers including “ooo” for Open/Close App Drawer
g. Repeat steps a. through e. for all 9 screens/wallpapers (see told you it was tedious)
h. If you’re on Screen 1 (in my case its “Search”) long press on the corresponding launcher action (“Screen 1” launcher action icon)
1. Delete Screen 1 and leave name blank
2. Click the original icon box and select ADWTheme IconPacks
3. There you will find the pre-made simple text icons that you created as instructed to before
4. Select the text according to what “Screen 1” was (in my case is was “Search”)
5. Color Box – White (personal choice)
6. Text Size – 50
7. Press the transformer menu button right next to the back and home button and select Save Icon and continue by pressing OK
8. This helps specify which screen/wallpaper you’re on at the moment
i. Repeat step h. for all corresponding screens/wallpapers (i.e. Screen 2 icon for “Home”)
C. Desktop Visualizer: (On my “Social” screen/wallpaper notice the Facebook tile as I’ll be using that for an example)
a. Long press and click Widgets and scroll down till you find Desktop Visualizer(2x2)
b. Click the newly obtained widget
1. Select Icon
. Image File – Find the “blank.png” I included
2. Select Action
. Launch Application – Find the corresponding application (in this case its Facebook)
3. Emphasis (unchecked)
4. Touch Effect – None
c. Repeat steps a. and b. for all tiles on every screen/wallpaper
d. All other tiles that are empty and green you’ll notice I have icons on my screenshots but not on the template. That’s because these icons scroll with the wallpaper and you’d select these icons in step b.1. instead of “blank.png” (Try and find unique icons online such as on http://www.deviantart.com/)
D. Folder Organizer Widget:
a. Long press and click Widgets and scroll down till you find FO Folder link – Folder Organizer
1. Select which folder you’d like to place upon your screen/wallpaper (remember that I replaced the name “Games” with “.” So that’ll come up as an option)
2. Refer to my Games screen/wallpaper and notice the xbox controller icon
3. Place the newly acquired “.” right above the controller and notice how it remains incognito blending in with the white controller
b. Repeat step a. for all other folders created
E. Xbox Live Avatar Widget: (Optional)
a. Follow widget instructions
F. ENJOY YOUR FREAKIN NEW XBOX THEMED TFP!!!
Hey, awesome walkthrough !! I'm trying to get everything working right now and I have a question - on your screen which box is how big ? (I'm talking grid size) I'm guessing (I'll use the last screen as an example), that Transformers is 2x2, The Office is 4x4, Flixster is 2x1. Am I correct ?
Anyway, thanks again for the How-To, it's pretty useful !
The easiest I've tried was with SSlauncher. I've been dying to try out this layout but it's as complicated as HUBS. Thankfully someone uploaded their Galaxy Note theme and all I had to do was load it up on SSlauncher and behold..everything was in place...well most of them anyway. I forgot which user it was but you can find his post on the official thread along with his zip file. It took me about half hour re-sizing the icons for a larger screen but it saved me a lot of time. HUBS users can also share their layout through the same method. I'll upload my .zip layout if anyone is interested

Yup! it goes width x height so you're right on all accounts!
After working on and off for 4 hours this is all I really have to show.
Definitely will need more help on widgets and icon pics.
Great writeup btw!

At the end of this tutorial you should have something like this:
Essentially, I swipe my thumb from the upper right side of my phone (I'm right handed) and I have access to this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and can just drag my thumb over whatever app I want to get to right away...
I can then swipe my thumb from the lower right side of my phone and have access to these:
Of course, this is my setup...so you can do something similar or not, but you get the idea. You can use whatever hotspots you choose too. If you want a set up like mine with many apps to access and different pads for different hotspots, you need the More Space add on[/B (paid)].
APPS YOU NEED:
1. Swipepad
Swipepad is the second best app in the world for me in terms of how useful it is in terms of general smartphone use (first would be Titanium Backup hehe)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.conduction.swipepad.android&hl=en
It's free with paid add ons. The free version works perfectly fine for me. I just got the More Space add on for..more space and more swipe pads haha and to support and give thanks for such an awesome app. If you want to have more than 1 pad though, you'd need the more space add on.
Essentially, you choose whatever hot spot/s you want (which are invisible), you can adjust the size of the hot spot to make it easier/harder to trigger too... You can then swipe from those hot spots and your swipe "pad" shows up. In your swipe pad, you get to put whatever apps or shortcuts of your choosing.
The hot spots are accessible no matter what app or game you happen to be in (be careful not to put it somewhere that could get in the way of your games though).
Paid add ons: Keypad, Widgetpad, More space. None are necessary for this tutorial but would be super useful for you.
2. Nova Launcher (or whatever launcher you prefer that has similar shortcuts)
Nova Launcher is an alternative launcher based on the AOSP 4.2 launcher. Very similar to Apex (I don't use Apex so I don't know if you can do something like this with it though). I don't know about other launchers either though they probably have some similar way of doing this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS50ZXNsYWNvaWxzdy5sYXVuY2hlciJd
3. Optional awesome floating apps to use in conjunction with this...I highly recommend AirCalc (free) and Floating Notes 2 (or similar floating note type apps..there are several out there, both paid and free)
STEPS:
1. Download the needed apps
2. Make Nova Launcher your default launcher app. Set it up however you want. Skip this if you already have your launcher set up the way you like it.
3. Go to Swipepad, you should be greeted with a tutorial but it's pretty simple to use.
- You'll probably see a red bar somewhere on your screen. This is the default hotspot location which you are free to change later on. The hotspot is invisible once you exit the app.
4. Under the GENERAL tab...
- Check "Enable SwipePad"
- Check "Indicator icon in Status Bar" - This keeps it always running. No affect on battery life, I promise.
- If you don't like having the indicator icon visible, feel free to check the "Transparent Icon" option though it might bother you that there is a random empty space among your notification icons.
- Other options like "Haptic Feedback", "Sound on Launch" or whatever are optional. They work as described.
5. Under the HOTSPOTS tab...
- You'll see an option to change the size of the hotspots, the default works fine for me but my thumb is quite flexible and muscle memory has made it super easy for me to swipe from the spot each time without missing. You probably won't need to change this unless you find you're having a hard time swiping from it. But trust me, it gets easier after the first few times you use it.
- You'll see a list of hotspot positions. Choose a hotspot/s of choice.
6. Select Default Pad. The other options require paid add ons.
7. Customize your SwipePad!
- To customize your swipepad, swipe from the hotspot you chose (it should now be shown in red). For as long as you have your thumb on the screen, you can see your pad. Just drag your thumb to whatever portal, the portal you're hovering on will turn orange (if its empty), lift your thumb off the screen, then you'll be able to choose what you want to put in it.
If you want to simply put applications, then just select applications, and choose your app of choice for that portal. Do the same for the other portals.
You can hide unwanted portals as well.
If you want to put shortcuts such as particular app activities, bookmarks, a particular contact, direct dial, direct message, whatever other app shortcuts..then select shortcuts and choose from there
Other functions like "Home", "All Apps" and "Context Panel" are also pretty useful.
Home - takes you straight to your desktop.
All Apps - shows you something like a drawer (non customizable) of all your apps sorted by either title or by recent use. You can also search for a particular app from there too.
Context Panel - takes you to some special functions for whatever you app you are using.
> You can share the app (as a playstore link)
> Go to the app's Google Play page
> View Application Info (force stop, enable/disable notifications, disable the app, clear data, clear cache, clear defaults, view permissions)
> Force stop the app
> Uninstall it
To change a portal link you have already set, just hold your thumb or finger over that portal for a few seconds, it will be highlighted orange (instead of blue) and then you can change it.
You can stop at 7 if you're happy with just shortcuts to apps and whatnot, but if you want portals to link to showing the Notification Drawer, your App Drawer (customized), Recent Apps, Search, etc... then keep reading
8. To have portals link to showing your Notification Drawer, custom launcher's App Drawer, Recent Apps..and all that jazz. Do step 7, choose a portal, select Shortcuts, select Nova Launcher. You will then see a list of shortcuts to Nova Launcher's functions such as App Drawer, Expand Notifications, Recent Apps, Search, Voice Search, Nova Settings..the others (like Toggle Notification Bar, Dock, etc.) won't work if you're inside another app.
Tada! Now whenever you want to access your swipepad, just swipe from the hotspot/s you chose, drag your thumb or finger over whatever portal you want (it will be highlighted blue when you hover over it), then lift your thumb or finger off~
9. You can easily access and change stuff around in SwipePad by accessing it from its Notification. You can also customize and change portals around even if you're not in the Swipepad app itself. You just need to open the app to start it up initially and it will always run from then on until you disable it again. Again, this won't affect battery life at all and doesn't use much RAM at all.
10. If you do get the More Space add on, you can create a new pad and have a different set of shortcuts on that pad..As you can see from the screenshot, I made a second pad entitled "Quick" to access stuff like Apps Drawer, Notifications etc. You can do this by doing step 5, then selecting "Add More", you will be prompted to type a name for the new pad. Then do 5 again, and select that newly created pad.
- You can change the number of portals per pad under the ADD-ONS tab in the SwipePad app. 4x3, 4x4, 5x3, 5x4, 6x3, 6x4 are the other size options. Again, you can hide portals you don't need to create the perfect size for you. 6x4 is the maximum though.
- You can also backup and restore all your pads too.
Hope you found this helpful and that you get inspired to create your own set ups from this tutorial of mine. Best of luck! Feel free to ask any questions.
Suggested shortcuts:
- Notification drawer (no need to try and reach it with your thumb or have to use your other hand to pull it down)
- Home (save your home button!)
- Recent Apps (save your home button!)
- Torch
- Camera
- Direct call/message your usual contacts..or just a shortcut to your SMS and Phone apps
- Screenshot
- Volume settings (under shortcuts -> settings shortcuts)..there's probably a way to access this (and brightness) immediately without going to their respective setting screens. I'm lazy to find out how now lol
- Brightness (under shortcuts -> settings shortcuts)
- Browser
- Note taking or voice recording apps
- Aircalc, floating notes/stickies, a floating browser, etc.
- Home
- App drawer (or All Apps)
- Context panel
- Quick post
Edit:
The most recent updates to the Swipepad and Morespace addon have added many new features that allow for MUCH easier editing of portals..like you can move them around, there's a dedicated portal editor interface, unhide hidden portals individually, customize app icon label position (hidden, above, below icon), even more grid options etc..
Definitely worth checking out, IMHO. I know there are contenders out there such as swapps and sidebar, but I find Swipepad to be the most polished and straightforward.
Agreed. Swipepad is one of the three most important Android app for me. The other two are GMD Gesture Control and Tasker. These 3 apps are the reason i can never go back to iPhone.

Under the General tab inside the Swipepad app..I believe there's an option to unhide all portals
LMT pie controls work great for me.
Looks nice but I personally love the simplicity of Button Savior. I can set what icons to show / and how long it will show. When I click that little arrow, the buttons show up for 1 second before disappearing. With the new update, the sizes are even smaller and more discreet.
For me using a android phone without swipe pad is a pain, n for phone as big as note it's indispensable, u can also add simple redial, a free app,
But on the downside this app is vry slow on updates (features) need to add many features which will eventually make it a complete launcher app,
One great feature could be live widgets on the pad, I fear if it's even remotely possible, but if done I wud never use my launcher anu more as I open all apps from Google search assigned to a spot

Hate to tell you, but android had gesture apps long before the first iPad even came out.

This is another similar app that I use on my device https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5maXZlcHJpbWVzLnJlbGF1bmNoIl0.
For those on touchwiz n other launchers, u can't set notification pulldown shortcut, i tried n searched in the play store didn't find any app,n hence made my own , place it on any slot preferable at bottom, n voila, hit thanks if it's useful, made from scratch on my note 2, without a pc

I've been using swipepad since my Evo 3d and recently with my s3 and now with my note 2. I have noticed swipepad slows the system down some. Can you guys tell me if you encounter the same. Download Epic Citadel and run the benchmark test with swipepad enabled then disable it. The framerate slows down and instead of my 45fps it goes down to 38. It also affects my quadrant frame rate.
Now I know these test are just numbers but unfortunately overall usage is affected as well for example in gaming like mc4, or nova 3. The framerate drops from time to time vs when I have swipepad disabled. I'm running stock rooted but on Tmobile.
How to use swipepad to launch from the bottom bar.
The default is set to launch googe search when swiping up from the bottom bar. How to change it ?
Thanks anon for the nice write-up. Can anyone tell me if the 'More Spaces' add-on has smaller portals than the default included one? Also, can the add-on allow you to shrink the spaces between the icons on the portal? It's really too wide! Cheers all!

I've been using SwipePad since Gingerbread. I've tried similar apps but nothing is as easy and simple as SwipePad. This app needs more love!

I recently updated my tablet from Kitkat to Marshmallow and realize that "Dynamic Pads: SwipePad add-on" doesn't work as Context Panel. From other reviews in Play Store I get feedback that this problem started a long time ago in Lollipop. Context is shown not for active app, but for active Launcher.
I overcome this problem yourself easily because I have rooted device, I moved "SwipePad Dynamic Pads" app from user apps to system apps. Now it works again as it should. Probably some app's permission restriction in LP/MM...
