Hello community, I need your help.
I have a Samsung S3 GT-I9300 (not rooted) and the problems began with a sometimes flickering display at approximately ~60% accumulator loading state.
The phone went off. After that the S3 could be switched on and worked ok.
Over 2 months the intervals for that behaviour became shorter and were more frequent.
Then on one day a message appeared such as that a new OS will be installed although NO new OS was downloaded!
I misinterpreted the situ, carried out NO backup and the following was that the S3 is now stuck on the samsung logo.
After removing the accumulator this ended and after reinserting the samsung logo appeared again.
The next behaviour was I connected the S3 via USB cable to load the accumulator then suddenly the accumulator symbol stayed gray and freezed.
I tried to reconnect, nothing changed. (I loaded the accumulator with the S3 of my friend and it worked)
Also now I cannot connect via USB with a PC, which worked always before the "crash".
Then I tried to enter the recovery mode.
The displayed message was:
Android system recovery (3e)
Volume up/down to move highlight;
power button to select.
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache

E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)

Obviously the S3 is no more bootable. Probably caused by a hardware defect...
My next idea was to install a file manager to save the datafiles (contacts, whatsapp chats, viber chats, telegram chats, etc.)
I found an information about the AROMA-Filemanager (e.g. aromafm-1.91.zip) which is stated to work by booting from the external SD-card.
The displayed message was then:
-- Install / sdcard ...

E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)
-- Appling Multi-CSC...
E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)

So now I'm really helpless, what to do to get access to the datafiles...
The outlined facts:
1. there ist no working booting system on the S3
2. the usb port is not working
3. AROMA-Filemanager on SD card does not work
The essential question for me is compared to PC's: is it possible to get successfully access to the system such as 'knoppix software' for pc partitions?
What is the meaning of -- Appling Multi-CSC... ??
Is there a chance to flash e. g. an OI File Manager??
Try to flash the stock ROM using Kies.
Open Kies and select the option similar to 'Initilize' from the menu bar.
You need to plug the phone to the PC via USB cable after booting into the download mode.
Before that, make a note of the S/N of your phone which is at the back of the phone. Will be visible after removing the battery.
Kies will ask for this S/N so after entering the S/N the process starts.
Check if this works. But your old data in your internal storage will be lost.
....there is no working USB connection!!!

===> Sorry to say that,
your tip is useless!
actually I kept on trying to clarify if it is really not possible to connect the S3 via USB with a PC.
Approximately after a minute S3 connected via USB with the PC the connect sound appeared and after a second appeared again. . .
. . . so I connected and disconnected. . . and on and on . . .
Then after more tries the connect sound appeared and in the Windows devicemanager the 2 entries popped up!
. . .
- Portable Devices
- GT-I9300
.
.
- USB-Controller
- SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device
But in ADB
with the adb command
adb usb
the result was
error: device not found
so no connection could be established. . .
Has anyone proposals???
stuck on samsung logo
im using s3 i9300. i ****ed up my phone ...
if i upgrade using kies than network dont work
if i install any other rom it goes into insane bootloop.
than i try different things...now i cant open my recovery even through...its stuck on samsung logo
what should i do??

@ rp158
Yes, the downloadmode is easily accessible by buttons . . .
@Maclane: ...and you've for moments USB-connection PC-phone. So try the usual things:
1. Use the USB-port of the motherboard of PC.
2. Deinstall Odin and all Samsung-drivers.
3. Goto sammobile.com (not the mobile version), choose your phone & country and find your actual firmware, matching Odin-version and drivers. Download & install them and try to connect again between Odin & phone.
4. Flash the firmware. Good luck.

as mentioned already above: No, I cannot establish a working connection between S3 and PC to work with !
with regard to install new firmware I can only use the SDcard!
with regard to the procedure: Now that is not the question! ==> as already stated in my opening: my focus is to save the old datas.
if I flash new firmware, all is lost!
kind regards
use of launcher for oi file manager
Hello community,
what about the following concept:
To save the old datas, is it possible to install a launcher on the SD card e. g. for working with the oi file manager on the smartphone / SD card without damaging / deleting the old datas?
How this could be realised?
Does this make sense?
kind regards

Hi all,
Stuck between a rock & a hard place. I have a Samsung galaxy S stuck on the soft-brick (connect to pc ...!...) screen. I am able to boot to recovery or Download modes. However, I can't get ODIN to push anything. I have tried on 3 different PCs with Samsung drivers installed and I always get an error 'unable to open COM port'. I am trying to push CI500_VZW_EB01_FROYO_REL.tar.md5.tar & atlas_v2.2.pit
Any ideas on how to fix this?
THANKS!
Also, if booting in recovery and running update.zip I get the following:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/vold/179:9
(No such file)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Instaltion Aborted.
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl11
(Invalid argument)
What ROM where you running before? On some of the ROMs you need the nexus USB drivers instead of the Samsung drivers.
Make sure you have usb debug enabled, make sure it's a factory USB cable, try different Ports on your PC, try Odin 1.7 or 1.3 , try UN installing and re installing drivers...you have to Odin recovery and immediately (meaning don't let the phone fully boot) three finger boot into it..using an update.zip won't work for what you need it for...just suggestions to try first before looking any deeper
I use vista home basic, and Odin 1.7

Friends,
I am in a fix here.
I had installed ""Simplistic ICS >>A SuperLite ROM (RC5 Is here finally!)"" yesterday, and since it was hannging too much, i thought of installing another rom, but this is what i did wrong:
- I formatted system, data and sd card
since I thought I will mount usb storage and move/copy the new rom file in cwm
but now when i do that i get error: unable to open ums lunfile
when i do into download mode to flash via odin, odin doesnt recognise my device
and when i connect my usb in recovery mode, windows fails to regozne my device and gives error of usb malfunction
i have installed usb drivers(1.4) , kies etc.. and tried using adb, but adb gives an error too of not recognising the device
with no rom file in my sd card, im stuck. please help!
Thanks
Looks like you have wiped the phone its empty nothing on it .
I formatted system, data and sd card
Flash stock rom via ODIN .
No download = Service Centre no warranty as custom rom or try JTAG machine .
Old bootloaders then a USB jig may boot to download mode .
jje
Try different usb cable. Had the exact same problem.
Sent from my good old Galaxy S II. Hit thx if u think i helped and may the force be with u.
try the usb jig in the phone's download mode (Volume Down+Power button+Home button)
You can buy USb jig from ebay india.
Otherwise use ODIN. Make sure you have right ODIN.(download from samfirmware site).
Close kies from task bar and its process after updating it.
Then try connecting your mobile.

Hey there, I have and Xperia U unlocked bootloader and rooted device, before a week I used an app called Multi Mount SD Card Mounter to mount the internal storage, while I was doing some stuff on my pc by mistake I burned an ISO of backtrack on it(selected Phone SDcard instead of flashdrive), while it was formatting, I quickly removed the usb.
After a while I inserted it into my pc and what i found was message "Do you want to format?" So I tried to format it but it failed, later on I opened CWM and select Mount USB Storage and I was able to format it to FAT file system. but when I connected it when the phone was booted up, I still got "Do you want to format ?"
So I googled and found some commands to re partition the storage (adb or mkfsdos etc), plus one more command to remount the sdcard,
finally I got my internal storage but it was only 128KB partition!!, plus no files in it. While I was able to mount my real sdcard from CWM, the booted phone couldn't recogize it and saying "sdcard damaged" couldn't mount. etc, Couldn't perform format sdcard from CWM too. (error mounting sdcard)
Atlast thought to reboot phone and try again but it didn't, No Charging LED, no fastboot, no flashmode nothing...
Just blank!
Bricked totally..
I sent my phone to sony center, they said motherboard is damaged it needs to be replaced costing around 50% of my phone price. I took it back from center without any repairs and what I found was I got the red charging led when I charged my phone.
I tried many combinations vol up vol down power(for 15 seconds and all everything)
I cannot boot my phone into flashmode nor fastboot no CWM (PC doesn't detect the device) just the charging led..
I think I've messed up with the bootloader or something.
If any possible solutions please help...
Thanks in advance..

Hi!
I have trouble with my S5830i. I bought broken phone who has bootlop at the first screen with logo of samsung and name of phone.
Xrecovery and Download Mode is working but my PC do'nt recognize it. Windows shows samsung like "Unknown Device", i tried every avaiable firmwares, kies, but still doesn't work. I think that problem is with bootloader but I don't know how to fix it?
After launching Xrecovery shows this text:

Check the drivers. make sure you have a good usb cable. sometimes when you are using usb cable other than samsung, the phone is not recognised.

Has maybe anyone another ideas?
Try choose another kernel*zip, Its can fix the problem !
I tried to do that. But after flash CWM and the kernel.img.zip and reboot I can't use buttons to control CWM(volume up and down), buttons are working correctly it's something with CWM...
Is now any sollutions to back to the stock recovery or fix CWM v5.0.2.6 without using PC?

Hey all,
I have a problem with my GT-i9300 (no carrier, EU).
It does not boot. only SAMSUNG is displayed with sound.
in Recovery it shows E:failed to mount /efs (invaild argument)
The phone is NOT rooted, USB Debugging is NOT enabled
Any tutorial that fixes efs issues uses either adb with USB debugging or Root with Custom recovery...???
with the Android Recovery I can't use adb?
I already flashed a stock rom with odin, but to no avail.
I don't know anymore what to do.
