My play store crashes are driving me NUTS. Please help. On Sonic AOKP rom, and flashes his zero app package, didn't work. I found one for gapps in general, I think for all devices, same problem. What is happening?
did you try wiping the dalvik cache in recovery? It happened to me once and I wiped it, then once you restore, android will have to optimize the apps, but it should work. No harm in trying as it shouldn't mess up your phone at all.

You need to do a full wipe/clean install of your rom and then install gapps before you reboot.
Here is where I grab gapps
With many thanks to Deltadroid for keeping gapps updated and kicking

i had this problem with my first android phone
the solution was to re-run the phone setup (like you get when you turn on the phone for the first time), maybe the touchpad has something similar?
Have you tried deleting the app data (Settings => Apps => Google Play => clear settings), and then re-flashing the GApps package ?

Tried all of that, still not working.
Another thing, I could never get CWM to install, always had to flash through novacom command.
One fix on a phone was to open a terminal app and type the following:
Su <enter>
Killall drmserver <enter>
Don't type the enters just hit enter let us know if it works

Hi
First of all did you reflasg your GAPPS also after flashing with latest build of CM9? If no then you need to flash latest GAPPS from this site.
goo-inside.me/gapps
Also after that varify that you system date and time are correct in your settings. This could be another reason that google play doesnot load at all.
Hope this helps.
I abandoned Android for a while and used WebOS on my Touchpad. But today I decided to reinstall Android again with the latest CM9 nightly. I'm still getting the same problem. Here are the things I already tried:
- Installed latest CM9 nightly, CWM, and the latest gapps from goo-inside.me/gapps, this time I actually got CWM to work.
- Wiped data/cache, ran the google setup again.
Google Play still won't install anything, it just hangs on "Downloading". I can install apps manually by downloading the APK files from the browser. What else can I try to fix this?
Maybe you can try to wipe out all the data

may be you can wipe out all the data , and try again to install gaaps, i do it twice, everytime i wipe all the data, i have to reinstall all my apps, so you can just go into the advance option of the start menu
I had the downloading from marketplace error before when I used titanium backup to uninstall/freeze things i thought phone didn't need, some of them it needed, but if you did clean install/reset and still doesn't work, i doubt it is this
hey guys,
i wanted to try something new on my Atrix so i flashed the CWM, cm10-20121112 and the chooseoptions from th3bill.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1790036&page=45 old thread from jokersax11
install was successfully and the atrix booted up with no problems but then i realized that the play store is missing.
i reinstalled the cm10.zip and the chooseoptions.zip, whiped cache and delviks cache but it doesn't show up anyway.
then i tried installing the play store with the 'Play Store APK 3.9.16' - but when i start the app it runs into an error --> no connection to server.
any clue what i can do ?
thanks in advance!
When you want the google apps you have to flash gapps on top of the rom.
you can use epinters zip (which you can find here)
hi,
thanks for your reply.
i flashed the zip on top like you said, but gapps didn't show up.
i will re-flash the rom again later and will try flashing the gapps.zip on a clean rom.
but gapps also should be included into the "optionchooser" package.

gapps is short for google apps, there will never be a gapps app but it will install play store, maps, etc.
I never tried aroma so didn't know the optionchooser included gapps.
normally if you install gapps and reboot it will start the rom with the basic setup of google account etc.

So, I have the AOKP ROM on my phone and I decided to update my ROM through the updater that came with the ROM.
After updating it, I started having pop ups with 'android.process.acore'. It keeps telling me that it was crashing.
So, after researching, I uninstalled my Facebook and cleared my Contact Data etc.
Then I realized that after updating my ROM, my Gmail, G-Talk, and Google Play Store stopped working/uninstalled.
Every time I try to open the play store, it would crash and force close....
After multiple times, I decided to restore factory settings and wipe data/clear cache through recovery mode and reinstalled the ROM the old school way (downloading it online and storing it onto my SD card).
After properly installing the new ROM (AOKP), I still don't have my Google Play Store. I've tried to get my phone to download and install the APK file online, but my phone doesn't recognize the apk file.....
Now, I don't know what to do. I think I f'ed up..... Help? I tried searching it already......
Please and thank you for reading.

Reboot into recovery and reflash the rom and gapps and you should be good. Do a full wipe while you're at it

thank you so much. it solved my issue. :victory:
Hi there!
After having a lot of trouble with the default rom of my phone (reboots, frozen screens, wifi not connecting, etc), I decided to try my luck with other roms. After a few tries, I decided to try CyanogenMod 7, and I installed the psyke83 rom. But now I can't install certain apps. I tried from the play store, and tried direct from an .apk. Nothing: the phone reboots as soon as the app starts to install.
And I'm getting tired of this things. I don't want to go back to stock, with all the samsung apps consuming space and instability, but CM7 isn't making things easier for me, if I can't install apps (and essential apps like Maps).
Also, the thought of re-installing some apps, doing the setups allllll over again, fixing the agenda... any way to make a backup of all that things? I've read that Titanium Backup isn't worth it anymore.
So... What should I do? Stick to CM7 (3.0) and forget about installing apps? Go back to stock? Installing a new rom (recommendations will be appreciated)?
Have you installed gapps?
"Maps" won't install without them.
2 good roms are CM11 and OmniROM 4.4
Their latest versions are stable and they are based on android Kit Kat (4.4.4).
You can find them at madteam.co

Yup, after installing the rom, I installed gapps. Searching the forums, a lot of people recommended to reinstall it, and I re-downloaded it from MAD Manager.
But nothing. I was thinking of deleting the play store updates, then rebooting and installing gapps..

best rom give it a try download speedmod v2 gapps and hotfix install via zip files.
I have just noticed that CM 12.1 nightlies are including the Google Play Services and Google Play Store stuff by default.
I was willing to install a google-free ROM and CM was my choice. Now that cannot be any more.
1. Wasn't that forbidden by Google itself?
2. How can I remove that, as I really really need a google-free installation?
3. I think I have missed some important announcement, any link?
Thanks in advance.
When i installed CM 12.1 to my s3 mini there wasnt just one google app. I had to install all stuff from google I wanted to have.
I just installed CM12.1 nightly (20151016) without GAPPS. I found after reboot Google Play was there...
I am on Nexus 7 2013 (Flo) and would be surprised if this is not a general "issue".
Many off the roms are using backup scripts for gapps so if you had gapps installed then they would stay installed
Nope. I wiped everything but the user storage: there was nothing to backup at the nightly installation time...

There is something backing it up because no aosp rom comes with gapps be default as you can't build them in line with the rom. So there has to be something backing them up. Also what rom are you using? Is it official?
It's in the OP: CM12.1 nightly.
I have TWRP 2.8.7.0 to wipe and flash.

That still doesn't say if it's an official build or the device. I have just looked at cm build setup and they don't enclude gapps at all so I would look at the person pushing the builds out. Most have stopped using cm so I'm not really sure what people are adding to those roms.
I don't know how many peoples are pushing CM night lies.
Anyway my source is this one:
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=flo
I have trusted it as official since years now.
Has anyone else tried a fresh install?
Which files belong to the Google Play Services?

I think in the end you were right.
I tried once again with my recovery (TWRP) and, instead of the default wipe (meant to be for a new ROM) I manually wiped the partitions: cache, dalvik cache, system and data.
By doing so the Google stuff disappeared.
By the way, as I explained, the only Goggle stuff was the Google Play Services and the Google Play Store, nothing more, while the GAPPS I used in the past were also containing Mail, Hangouts and stuff.
Thanks a lot.
