Supplied charger is a Quick Charge 2.0 charger? - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've only charged my Z5C a couple of times but I noticed that it seemed to charge very quickly, checked the product code of the very neat USB wall charger that came in the box ( "UCH20" ) and sure enough it looks to be Quick Charge 2.0 compatible charger.
A nice bonus I wasn't expecting so thank you Sony!

UCH20 output is 5 V/1500 mA, same as the EP880 so not sure how you can see significant charging speed. Only UCH10 is Quick Charge 2.0 certified with output of 5 V/1800 mA

That's interesting, because it definitely seemed faster to me than my old Z3C charger.
And when I checked the spec on this page http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/usb-charger-uch20/specifications/ it lists "Quick Charger UCH20" at the top above "Product Specifications", but Qualcomm Cetification isn't mentioned.
Then here (http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/09/20/sony-uch20-usb-charger-bundled-with-the-xperia-z5-family/) they mention "When Sony first announced the Xperia Z5 series back at IFA 2015, it initially tagged this accessory as a ‘Quick Charger’"
Wonder if it failed the certification, but still has the circuitry so is effectively Quick Charge 1.5?
I have a 3rd-party Quick Charge 2.0 charger on the way so it will be interested to compare the charge time difference.

Ok, ran my phone down to 4% this evening and plugged it into in the UCH20.
With the phone on, this is how it charged:
Start = 4%
20 mins = 22%
35 mins = 36%
60 mins = 60%
80 mins = 80%
100 mins = 95%
110 mins = 98%
121 mins = 100%
Not as fast a "quick charge 2.0" charge I think, but faster than I ever remember my Z3C charging?
Will it try it from completely flat with phone off next time (which might be a few days away... )

Well not quite QC 2.0.
The lab test Qualcomm quotes charged a smartphone with 3300mAh battery for 30mins
QC1.0 > 0% to 30% (5V / 2A)
QC2.0 > 0% to 60% (9V / 1.67A)
And 0% to 12% on a conventional 5V / 1A charger.
The Z3C came with a 5V / 1.5A charger just like this Z5C apparently. And the Z5C has a slightly bigger (2700mAh vs 2600mAh) battery so I'll make a wild guess that it's about the same speed, if not a tad slower.
Shame it doesn't come with a QC 2.0 charger.. Would've been a nice touch to include it.

Yes, I know the Z3C came with a charger that is supposed to have the same output, but my Z3C didn't seem to charge as fast as my Z5C is...
My experience was similar to this, charging in about 2.5 hours
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z3-Compact/How-long-to-fully-charge-battery/td-p/861671
The only explanation I can think of is that I was using a data USB cable with it, and I'm now using a 3rd party one specifically designed for charging. I'll update with the actual Quick Charge 2.0 recharge speed when my new charger arrives.

why didnt they they give us the optimal charger with the phone in the box then? I was looking forward to faster charging times, but i havent noticed any difference

Well that explains that disappointment with my Z5C, I need a new charger.
Now if only there was an easy solution to the phones lag problems...

Interesting thing is, Sony doesn't use step charging for Z5C and Z5P.

Z3C's max was 1800, so it's faster than Z3C.

[Q] Charging As Slow As A Snail?

hi to all,
I got an Xperia Tablet Z recently.
I found that my battery drains normally, but it charges as slow as hell. What happened?
I'm using the EP850 charger and the official SONY data transfer cable. Last night it was 10%, I made it charging at night. After 4 hours, I found it was 12%
Something's wrong with your tablet or your charger.
Mine is EP880 and the tablet has been charged after 4-5 hours
EP850 should charge it from 0-100% is around 6 hours (if the Tablet isn't used). There is defiantly something wrong with either the charger, cable and/or your Tablet.
I've the same problem. Even while charging if I am surfing via WiFi then sometimes battery percent decreases. And tablet takes almost 4 hours to charge more than 50 %.
Using IPad 2 3G charger helps!! It's like 60% faster
I noticed that if the tablet is switched off and charging, it takes forever (10hours - only 50% charge), but when it is switched on but with no activity (e.g. in craddle) it charges noticeably faster (10-hours - 100%). So as far as i understood, while it is off it restricts charging current to 500mA, and on it uses full power from the charger. Also it was mentioned earlier that ipad or samsung (high current) charger will charge your tablet faster than a stock one.

+1 to this.
I use an iPad charger for my Tablet Z and it is quicker (as it should be, iPad charger =2A , supplied Sony charger = 1.5A).

Slow charging

Anyone idea why my mobile is charging slow?
I have bought Moto E I the middle of the summer, I was using 1A charger and normal charging time was 10 minutes =10%
Like week or two I read about Qickcharge 2.0 and I saw there, Snapdragon 200 is supporting this technology. But then I opened official site with list of supported devices and Moto E was not there... So I didn't bought Qickcharger but I started using 2A charger and results were pretty good, 10 minutes =20% of the battery. But today I noticed significant decrease of % per minute. I am still using same Samsung 2A charger (from nexus 10) but in 10 minutes =6%. I don't know what happened... Isn't Moto E supports 2A charging?
I tried also old 1A charger which I used to use before. Before I charged Moto 10min = 10% but now with same charger I charge 10min = about 5% :/
And I also tried 1.35A Asus charger and in 15min I charged 13% which is the best result but still worsted than result with 1A charger before :/
Could anyone help me? :/

Battery Charging Tests - Stock Charger EC450 vs EP880 vs UCH10

Hi,
Having talked to people in this thread I decided to perform tests on the M4 chargers to see how fast they really charge. I also got tips learning from the Xperia Legend @Jozinek in his thread here.
I've been buying Sony Ericsson / Sony phones for years. I notice that while the battery size is increasing, the charger output capacity is not, meaning it takes longer to charge each generation (this is generally true for the low/mid-range Sony phones which I've bought. I note that the premium Sony phones get Quick Chargers).
I plan to test 3 chargers, the stock EC450, the Quick Charge 1.0 EP880 and maybe the Quick Charge 2.0 UCH10 charger. About the UCH10, Sony says the M4 Aqua is not compatible with it, but according to the Quick Charge Maker Qualcomm, the M4 has a chipset with Quick Charge 2.0 enabled.
Tests are done form 0% battery. I turned on the phone when charging started to view battery levels. I turned off data, turned on aeroplane mode and turned screen brightness to the lowest to minimise interference.
Stock charger model EC450
10 minutes charge - 5%
20 ms - 11%
30 ms - 17%
40 ms - 24%
50 ms - 30%
60 ms - 37%
70 ms - 44%
80 ms - 51%
90 ms - 58%
100 ms - 65%
110 ms - 71%
120 ms - 78%
130 ms - 85%
140 ms - 91%
150 ms - 96%
160 ms - 99%
163 ms - 100%
My notes:
The stock charger is slower, but not by that much
A difference between the stock charger and EP880 is that the stock charger holds the battery intake in the 90s %, taking in double the charge per 10 minutes than the Quick Charge 1.0 EP880
Model EP880 (Fast Charge 1.0)
10 minutes charge - 9%
20 ms - 15%
30 ms - 24%
40 ms - 32%
50 ms - 41%
60 ms - 50%
70 ms - 59%
80 ms - 67%
90 ms - 74%
100 ms - 81%
110 ms - 87%
120 ms - 93%
130 ms - 96%
140 ms - 99%
141 ms - 100%
My notes:
The average charge every 10 minutes is about 9% battery charge
The charge per 10 minutes dropped from 9% to about 7% somewhere in the 60s %
The charge per 10 minutes dropped from 7% to 3% in the 90s %
The level seems to be exactly in the middle performance wise, higher than the model 450 stock charger and less than the Quick Charge 2.0 UCH10 charger, judging from @Jozinek 's work here. To the best of my knowledge, the Z3 Compact in Jozink's video comes with the EP880 charger, but it has a 2600 mAh battery while our M4 Aqua has a 2400 mAh battery. The charging speed is identical minus the slight extra distance the bigger 2600 battery would naturally require (200 mAh more).
I bought EP880, too. I need to ask you. Watch some videos through wifi and tell me if ur "%" will drop or not. When I play game, it is ok but when I do more demanding activities(for ex: watching long video through wifi) it is not good enough.
Data added.
The stock charger is slower, but not by a lot. Oddly, the EP880 slows down a lot at the end, while the stock charger EC450 maintains output, gaining at the end. Unexpected.
As usual, I do not use the phone at all during the entire time. Screen brightness minimum, aeroplane mode, I don't touch it.
@depressed_ I'll test that as soon as I can. I've just charged using EC450 so I'll have to let that drain, charge with EP880 then try...
Ok, thx buddy. And do one thing please. Download app "Ampere" from Google Play and tell me how many ampers do u have with ep880 and usb cable EC450(stock usb cable). I have low value and idk why but I think my usb port is a little bit destroyed. I put knee between edge of phone and usb cable and it is so sensitive. For example when I want to transfer data between pc and mobile I need to find right position for cable :/. I am so sad because I think I can not claim it, my fault .
Btw English is not a primary languge.
Doest the UCH10, Quick Charger 2.0 working / is supported in our M4 Aqua or not? Anyone tested it? Sony says No, but our chip SD615 is supporting this. I want buy Quick Charger 1.0 or 2.0, thats wjy im asking.
QC have to be enabled in kernel, i think stock kernel doesn't have that feature enabled

Can we enable this feature somehow? Like modifying the kernel or something
I have a doubt
As I understand it, the Snapdragon 615 has compatibility with Turbo Charge 2.0, but according to the M4 Aqua SONY (with the same processor) is not compatible with fast charging. What is this about?

Charging speed

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the honor 5X can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Takes almost 2 hours with me using a 2.1a fast charger

if you have gsm battery app you can see that the phone cannot accept 2.1A,
it's the big cons indeed!
Takes 2h20m from an Anker IQ 2.4A charger (1-100%) With the stock 1A charger it takes 3+ hours.
I just got mine and it charges much faster with a 2 amp charger. I am using a 5 port Aukey with one port that has the Qualcom fast charge 2.0.
I also have a Blu VIVO 5 and the Honor charges just as fast as that with the 2 amp charger. The Blu Vivo 5 includes a 2amp in the box while the honor does not.
On my HTC One and my Sony Xperia Z3 compact, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.ampere reports something in the neighborhood of 1.4-1.7 amperes with a Quick Charge 2.0 charger, and I go from 1% to 60% in about 20-30 minutes as claimed. On my Honor 5X, the highest I see the app report is 850 mA, and it takes about as long as what everyone else is reporting. With a non-Quick Charge charger I get about 550 mA.
Edit: 850 mA is what I often see using one of my chargers. I'm using a different one right now and just now I saw it as high as 1.1 A.
Using an USB multimeter I can see it charge at 1A with my Blitzwolf 5 ports charger.
Honor 5x L22 model take around 3 hours to charge from 0-100%.
Wish they would enable Qualcomm Quick Charge tech for this device since the Chinese market version has it by default. It takes quite a while to charge from 0-100
Good speed with the normal 2 Amp charger. reaches 100% in and around 2hrs
Quite slow
upto the mark
Coming from a fast charging phone, honor 5x is quite slow. But it is OK as i use the phone normally so from 100 to 0 it last easily 2 days.
Sent from my KIW-L21 using XDA-Developers mobile app
yep they should have used some sort of quick charge
0-100% takes 2 and a half hours usually.
2hours with 2A charger
It's still very slow
Plus side is slower charge will keep your battery in better health and longer lifespan . fast charge is real harsh on the battery pack .
I find mine takes almost 3 hrs from about 5% to full when on and 4G running . You can get 60% in an hr or less which not bad .

Question 25W Charger taking 1H30 mins

Hi Guys
Got the S22 Plus in Snapdragon variant and the phone doesnt charge nearly as quick as reviews online taking 1 Hour 30 mins for me, and yes I have fast charging enabled on the battery settings
I have read couple of articles and seen few videos about it. It does take 1 hr 30 mins to get fully charge.
I'm using Charger came with my S20plus along with the cable came with S20plus.
My phone charges up in 1Hr 10min max.
It depends on the room temperature and the phone temperature also I think.
However buying a 45W charger for S22plus is a waste of money.
Nvm
Usually, those charging times they advertise are from 0-80%. The way lithium ion batteries charge, they all slow way down after 80% . After that you may as well be using a 5w charger.
Get 45w charger I usually getting around 40minutes to 90%+. you will see Super Fast Charging 2.0.. but since android 13 update I only see Super Fast Charging although it charge as fast
Honestly, I am using my laptop type C charger. It shows as fast charging and max it takes is 1 hr 15-20 mins for full charge. So I think you are good.
