A girl I knows sgh-i777 crashed and only the Samsung logo would come up. It would not go into recovery. I tried using Odin 3.09 and the I777UCLE5 file and it would start then fail. I am not sure what I may be doing wrong.

Boot into recovery (hold power and both volume buttons until you see the Samsung logo, then release), and Factory reset it.
Should work then.

If you try the three button combination as Steve suggested, and you are unable to boot into recovery, or if you are able to perform a wipe data/factory reset from within recovery but it doesn't help, then post back with details of the phone's behavior, and we'll try to help you troubleshoot the problem.
The phone would not go into recovery. I used Odin 3.0.9 to flash it but it only whent so far and would fail. No the phone does not boot to the Samsung logo but another screen saying that the phone had been flashed but did not take or something to that and to try flashing again. It does go into Odin download mode. It appears that the phone and Odin program are communicating so I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Do I need to use an older very of Odin or another version of software? I am also using a laptop with windows 8.1 if that makes any difference.
Thanks for any help.

I only have a minute now. I'll check back later this evening.
Use Odin v1.85 and flash the latest stock firmware, I777UCMD8 Stock Binaries (Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean).
Both are available in the Download Repository, see my sig.
I'll give it a shot thanks.
When I go to download the i777UCMD8 firmware my pc says there may be viruses and even when I choose to download it it is placed somewhere in my pc and I cannot find the file. I did not have this issue when I downloaded i777UCMD5 . Still trying to figure it out though.

If you are downloading to Windows (7, 8.1 or 10) it will be placed by default in the Downloads directory. You should have a link in your File Explorer, or the path is C:\Users\<Your User Name>\Downloads.
If you have a failed flash in Odin, it will almost certainly be because of the connection between the computer and the phone, so either the USB port on the PC, the cable, or the microUSB port on the phone.
Thanks I will see what I can figure out.

The usb cable is fine, when I go to download the firmware I777UCMD8 the adg virus program will not let me download it because it says there is a virus. and I am going to your links to the firmware. When I started to flash the other firmware something had to do something because the phone starts up it saysFirmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
I cannot also get the Odin 1.8 file you have it wants to install some kind of other software and not Odin 1.8 . I cannot figure why all of most downloads I need are not working. The Odin program I have failes at factoryfs.img

Boot into recovery and perform a wipe data/factory reset if you are able to at this point. To get into recovery, hold down all three buttons of vol+ vol- and pwr until the Samsung logo appears, disappears, and appears again, then let go of the buttons.
I think you must be using AVG antivirus? If so, right click the AGV icon in the system tray in the lower right corner and select disable for 10 minutes or something similar, and then go download the file. There is no virus in the file, and it is safe to download, but sometimes the antivirus programs will flag certain types of websites and downloads. I would prefer that you try to install the UCMD8 firmware before we attempt to troubleshoot any issues.
Whatever steps you take from here forward, please describe them and the results you get, including copy and paste here the message box from Odin.

The link for Odin v1.85 in the Download Repository is a direct download link. When you click on it, you should get a blank browser page that has a google.com link in the address bar, and a download box at the bottom of the page. The downloaded file will be Odin3-v1.85.zip and is 203,676 bytes. Open it with an archiving program.

Hey guys, new here (obviously). I'm also fairly new to flashing/rooting on Android in general.
I flashed my phone to one of the leaked ICS international versions (when I boot up my phone it says "Samsung Galaxy SII GT I9100" from Gingerbread. I did this a couple of days ago. There are a few problems main one being I can't use the phone app for my phone (ironic).
So since the ICS official version for the US AT&T phone came out, I was wondering.
How can I flash my phone to the stock ICS version? Any help would be great and I hope I did not post in the wrong section :\
Thanks so much in advance guys.
Download KIES, install the proper drivers, plug in your phone, update.
Although you probably messed up your phone flashing firmware for the wrong model....
BTW, you might want to at least make an attempt to read before making a thread. There is a thread already dedicated to upgrading your phone to the official AT&T Gingercream Sandwich update
At least pretend to look like you are genuinely interested. Or you know, follow the rules you agreed to upon signing up in the forums

Boot into download mode using the standard I777 method: with phone off, hold down vol+ & vol- while plugging in USB cable. Post back what the flash counter says.

I don't think the standard method is working. Just shows the battery on screen.
and in response to the kies reply; when I plug in the phone and sync it up with kies, kies says "Your device does not support firmware upgrade through kies" or something along those lines.
In response to the other guy, I'm terribly sorry, maybe you could help by posting a link to that thread? I tried looking around seeing if there was anything related to my issue and I couldn't find anything. Forgive my noob status?
Thanks guys.
I used the method that worked though. Held down power, vol down, and home..

looks like you need to read around and learn how to flash the secondary bootloader for UCKH7. It will change it back to the correct boot screen too. At least, that's what I think. I had to do it the other day after working on rooting the new LE5 stock.
Read the links in Creepy's signature.
To return your phone to I777 stock, flash the UCKH7 CL503881 stock binaries. The one-click downloader is the easiest. You will find the firmware in the Download Repository, link in my signature. This is the package that includes bootloaders and param.lfs.
Edit: I have been assuming you have the I777. This is true isn't it?
After you are at UCKH7 stock, you can use kies to update to stock ICS, or you can flash UCLE5 which is also in the Download Repository, at the bottom.
kk. I think what I'm gonna do is flash is completely back to stock gingerbread using one of his links and odin.
and plug it in through kies and see if that works to update it to ICS official.
Thanks guys! Sorry I caused such an uproar.
Thanks Creepy!! I will do just that
yes that is correct; I have the SGH-I777 At&t Samsung Galaxy S2.
It appears the one click exe that reverts my phone to stock software actually STOPS and "FAIL"s on the part where it's flashing the "cache."
My phone says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."
Fortunately when I went download mode the top right corner says SGH-I777
instead of the international version.
I've tried the one-click several times and it still does not work. :\
Any advice?
Edit: Kies is not recognizing my phone ; "device not responding"
thanks again.
Make sure you have the USB Debugging mode turned off. It took me a few minutes to figure that out when I was trying to upgrade from Gingerbread to ICS via Kies earlier.
Not sure what's hanging it up. From your report, it appears that the secondary bootloader was successfully flashed. Do you recall what other steps completed before the fail?
You should be able to boot into recovery by holding vol+, vol- and pwr. Hold down until you enter recovery. Then wipe data/factory reset. Then try to flash the UCKH7 stock package without bootloaders. The link is in the return to the store guide linked in my signature. Or flash one of the stock plus root packages.
Hey thanks Creepy!
I really hate using the one-clickers, had no luck with 'em :|
I'd much rather use the blank Odin 1.85 exe I have that lets you fill in the files.
If I use that and the ---Return/Unbrick to Stock + Root: I777_UCKH7_OCD_Root_No_BL.7z (This contains the kernel, rooted system image, and modem.)--- download, what do I use for the bootloader slot or do I leave that empty?
thanks

That's a one-click downloader. If you want to flash the full package, there is a tar.md5 file in the Download Repository with everything in it, but it's all in one package, including the bootloaders, so you put it in the pda slot and it's the only file you flash.
In the Download Repository, there are also tars for Entropy512's packages which you can flash in Odin3. They are also one file tars and go in the pda slot. You can read about each one.
I'm not sure you need to flash the bootloaders again. I'd try to wipe data/factory reset and then flash a stock package without bootloaders first.
Applied the one-click with root Flash and now I'm back to gingerbread.
gonna see if I can get ICS working through kies..
looking good!!!
So my phone won't open.
I keep clicking the android but it keeps saying the google services framework has crashed.
and it won't connect to kies..
any ideas?

I guess you just drop that file onto the phone using file explorer and USB connection,
then go into recovery to update via cwm?

Hi guys, i got a little issue with my galaxy i9300 international version, let me tell you what I did and the results to that.
1. Flashed with Cyanomogen 10.1. Working fine.
2. Then, afer a few days, flashed with Paranoid.
3. Phone starts to freeze, so as I didn't know was going on, and tried to flash with another ROM.
4. Flashed several times with ODIN and tried to stabilize it with stock room XELLA.
5. Flashed with Ultima ROM, still freeze sometimes.
6. Phone stops boots, if I turn on normally, shows a screen like an old tv, white with stripes.... also shows it when I plug it to charge it.
7. Only enters to download mode.
8. Tried to flash it, however says partition failed, there is no pit partition.
9. Tried with every single PIT partition mx that i found, and nothing, every time it says, Re-Partition failed.
10. Tried with a different computer, USB cable, everything... and nothing!..
11. Also tried with the rescue korean rom, and nothing.
12. Also tried with the single file from samfirmeware and the pit file, and nothing!
Any thoughts??? I'm desperate!

And the roms I flashed, in this order: 1. CyanogenMod 10.1, Paranoid, CyanogenMod again, and Ultima ROM.
After the installation of Paranoid, the device started to freeze, over and over again, and continue to do it over the other ROMs.
Also, I went to a so called "technician", and the guy says the mainboard must be replace, because i damage the bootloader.

Use only the mx.pit in the pit rar.
If you manage to flash the pit but the 3 file firmware doesn't work, download speedmod kernel and flag the kernel only. Then go to cwm and then mounts and storage. Format system, data and cache. Then go back to download mode after a battery pull. And then flash the 3 file firmware again. Do not select a pit file and make sure re partition is unchecked.
This should work.

So the other day i rooted my Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-I777 and i ended up not liking it. So today I tried to remove the root by a factory reset using the settings option. While in the process it froze, so I removed the battery(BIG Mistake). It wouldn't turn on so I tried recovering via samsung kies which ended up not recovering due to "unexpected errors". Ok, then i tried Odin with a stock version of ics for my model, itjust keeps saying failed. At this point i'm frustrated and don't know what to do. All i'm trying to do is to get back to ICS 4.0.4 with NO root. Can somebody please help me? Any help is very much appreciated.

Root won't be removed by factory reseting. At this point you have or you are very close to bricking your phone. STOP, and answer these:
Can you get to the download mode?
Can you get Odin to recognize your phone in download mode?(does the COM port number light up in Odin?)
Do NOT have the repartition option checked in odin.
Use Odin 1.85 or 1.87 and leave all the options on default and loadup your Stock ROM in PDA section to get a clean flash and don't disconnect while flashing (big no no)
After Odin reboots your phone, disconnect the cable and pull the battery. Put it back in and do a full wipe/reset, and let it boot
If Odin fails to flash STOP messing with it, your next move should be to try the "[Heimdall][Odin][Stock][Root]UCKH7/KK6 Return/Unbrick to Stock (or Root)" by Entropy512.
Cheers and good luck, It happens to the best of us (learning is fun, and try to get something out of it too)

Is your battery out? Make sure you use the correct Odin version and your drivers are downloaded so your device can be recognized. Make sure your battery is out, that's how I unbricked my S2

NEED some help here. I have a Galaxy S4 (Verizon)phone that I have Rooted successfully and the phone was running fine. I then decided to remove some of the bloatware that was on the phone and now I keep getting a message that com.process.gapps has stopped working consistently and Google play store no longer is working. It just starts to open and the closes. I have searched and many threads on how to fix it to no avail. I have tried going into settings-app manager, and force closed, disable/enable, delete cache and data. removed google account from phone then added, tried re install the gapps zip, still nothing. The back up was done using titanium backup pro and I still got the same message. So tried a factory reset three times and nothing. Unfortunately, when I did the first factory reset, I didn't save a backup(was thinking) and Titanium Backup and root file manager and stock file manager all was deleted so now I have no access to the system files either. I can't re-install from the play store because it keeps crashing. I tried using CWM and install recovering with odin 3.07 but it to then hangs on my computer. Please help what am I doing wrong. You might want to flash back to stock and start over. Are you on MDK or ME7?

ME7
You CANNOT have a custom recovery like CWM if you are on ME7. Sounds like you need to flash back to stock factory ME7
I tried to no prevail. Factory reset erased titanium backup, root file explores, and other apps needed to complete flash, and with Play store not loading and handing on me, so I can get to root files. I can't download. I can't even download from chrome browser it hangs soon as download
I know you tried to factory reset but you need to flash a stock ME7 image using Odin. You need to put your phone in Download mode and then use Odin to flash a stock ME7 image on to it.

I tried to use ODIN3 v3.09 and it keeps crashing when I press the start key. I have tried v.185, v3.07. and v3.09 and they all hang as soon as I press start. I have installed the samsung drivers. I did notice that the com port is yellow on v1.8.5 and blue on v3.07 and v3.09. Any item what could be the problem
Can you list step by step what you're doing? I have a feeling that something's getting missed.

Wow that all sounds strange. Are you positive you have the stock ME7 file? ODIN would crash if I tried flashing the wrong one. Are you running ODIN as Admin?

Hindsight being 20/20, you should have frozen the apps instead of deleting. Deleting them yields you no benefit beyond freezing and can lead to issues such as this.

So after checking to make sure I was flashing the correct file I found out that when I originally extracted the file it didn't extract completely only as a part.file for some reason. After downloading the zip file and extracting the file again, making sure it was a tar.md5 file and tried again with success. I able to open Google Play store. I also re-rooted my phone again successfully. SO thanks to everyone that help me out:laugh::laugh:

Here I am, crying about another bricked Samsung Galaxy Player. All of the other threads either have outdated links, or are not the 5.0 USA version. Anyway, here's my problem:
I was trying different ROMs and then my device got locked into a boot loop. In my trying to fix it, I bricked it. The display shows the image of the phone, yellow triangle, and computer connected by dots. To troubleshoot this, I have tried so many different tutorials on forums, etc. The most recent one I have tried is Here. I think I need to just completely re-install the original firmware, ROM, and whatever else I need to. I tried using the oneclick.jar file with arch linux; it seemed to execute and copy everything to the device, but nothing happened. Anyway I'm really new to all of this, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Edit: I tried the instructions at this post: Here. My device randomly shuts off in the middle of the third step.
Also, if you run into the download screen flicker/slide problem, the solution to all of this is in my post at the bottom.

maybe its not fully charged? not sure which step it is but i do know one of the times you are connected and using odin, takes a few minutes so don't panic. try leaving it at step 3 and not touching it.

The little colored area that shows the status turns red and says "error." I'm thinking it must be the low battery charge, but how do I go about re-charging it? If i plug it into the charger, it'll go through 5-minute cycles of being off and on, which is not enough time to complete all 3 steps. I'm guessing the 5-minute cycles are charge/discharge cycles that the device performs. Either way, I'm still not sure what to do. Also, do I need to install a bootloader from odin?

I'd try to install a boot loader, aslong as the device powers on and you can get it into download mode and connected to odin to flash a boot loader you should be good. Not sure about everyone else but i already have 4 roms stored on my device so the last time this happened, i just got a bootloader into there via odin, got into cwm and wiped/flash everything again.

I'm not really sure which bootloader I'm supposed to use, so I got the one from this thread. I extracted the "GalaxyPlayer-Bootloader.zip" and found multiple files, such as odin and the bootloader file, in the zip archive. The bootloader file was compressed as a .rar, so I extracted it and then archived it as a .tar and used that file for the bootloader option in odin. Nothing happened, the green progress bar didn't go anywhere and eventually the battery cycle ran through and odin said it failed. I'm not sure if the correct files were in the bootloader .tar archive, so here's what I put in there: "boot.bin", "param.lfs", "Sbl.bin"
Are these the files needed in the .tar archive for a bootloader? Or do I only need "boot.bin"?
Thanks so much again for the help!
Never use the bootloader option in Odin for this device. Always use PDA.

I would not use those bootloaders either. Those will only get you download mode. Instead flash a ROM that has bootloaders in it.

took a look at the archive, just extract it to a folder on your desktop. open Odin3 v1.81
where is says "PIT" in the middle click on that and select the only file it shows.
Under "PIT" is "BOOTLOADER" check the box next to that then click on "BOOTLOADER" and select the download mode only one. hit start and wait for it to do its thing, should prompt you to disconnect the device after a few minutes and it will reboot into cwm, from there flash whatever rom file you have on your device. If you don't have one then see if you can load one onto a micro sd card and pop that into the galaxy player.

First of all, thanks so much for all of the support. I feel really stupid for thinking that the .tar file was a .rar file; I have no clue how I mixed that up. Anyways, I got it fixed and here's how I did it for anyone else with the same problem as me:
I kept trying the method of uploading the pit, followed by the two ROMs, but that still wouldn't work. I tried stopping it in between two steps, because I figured the random shutdown might have been because of a battery charge issue or something. Once I successfully paused between the two steps, and carried out all three, I tried to boot into recovery, and instead, the little circle made of dots would appear for a split-second, followed by a freaky-looking download mode screen sliding everywhere and flickering. At first I thought it was a hardware failure, and that I might need to replace the screen. If you have this problem, a broken screen is not the case!!! To solve this, download this .zip file (from this thread) which is the factory bootloader. You will also need a micro-SD card. Make sure to put your device in download mode by pressing and holding the down volume button and the power button at the same time, even if your screen says that it is in download mode, it may not be in download mode. Unzip the .zip file, and run odin. Choose the .pit file, and for the PDA, choose "GalaxyPlayerBootloaders.tar", and not the "GalaxyPlayerDownloadModeOnly.tar". Start odin, and as soon as your device does the automatic shutdown, hold the up volume button and the power button at the same time. This will get you into recovery mode at last, and now just use a micro SD card to install the factory ROM (downloaded from here) on the device.

Alright so get a rom from this page. You'll need to get an international one (as you probably know) and use odin to flash the rom. I hope this helps, feel free to ask about stuff you don't understand.
Note: If you can hear a sound when you plug your device into a computer, odin should still recognize your device.
