Hi guys, i got a little issue with my galaxy i9300 international version, let me tell you what I did and the results to that.
1. Flashed with Cyanomogen 10.1. Working fine.
2. Then, afer a few days, flashed with Paranoid.
3. Phone starts to freeze, so as I didn't know was going on, and tried to flash with another ROM.
4. Flashed several times with ODIN and tried to stabilize it with stock room XELLA.
5. Flashed with Ultima ROM, still freeze sometimes.
6. Phone stops boots, if I turn on normally, shows a screen like an old tv, white with stripes.... also shows it when I plug it to charge it.
7. Only enters to download mode.
8. Tried to flash it, however says partition failed, there is no pit partition.
9. Tried with every single PIT partition mx that i found, and nothing, every time it says, Re-Partition failed.
10. Tried with a different computer, USB cable, everything... and nothing!..
11. Also tried with the rescue korean rom, and nothing.
12. Also tried with the single file from samfirmeware and the pit file, and nothing!
Any thoughts??? I'm desperate!

Any response? My phone is going through the exact same thing with the old TV static and only download mode working
Take phone to a service centre . Its a paid for repair warranty void .

But you shoul give more details. When I read "flash several ROMs with Odin", I'm wondering what ROM? How did you use Odin? What version of Odin? etc...
flashing a wrong pit file kills the phone, and you flashed every possible one. good job

Well I flashed the pit files when the phone was already bricked, not before. I try to do this as a possible resolution to my problem.

And the roms I flashed, in this order: 1. CyanogenMod 10.1, Paranoid, CyanogenMod again, and Ultima ROM.
After the installation of Paranoid, the device started to freeze, over and over again, and continue to do it over the other ROMs.
Also, I went to a so called "technician", and the guy says the mainboard must be replace, because i damage the bootloader.

Download a 3 file firmware from sammobile and also download mx.pit file.
Open odin.
Select pit and locate the mx.pit you have downloaded. Select repartion check box and flash it.
Then reset odin.
Click on pda and select the code file of your 3 file firmware.
Select modem and click on modem part of the 3 file firmware.
And then click on csc and select the csc file.
Make sure re partition is not selected and that the pit box is blank.
Then hit start and how it works.

https://hotfile.com/dl/156320160/eb4a939/I9300XXALE8_I9300OJVALE7_OJV.zip.html
Here's the one from SamMobile for the pit-files:

Zimbardo.ea originally posted this info on another thread. So credits to him/her for the links.
Use only the mx.pit in the pit rar.
If you manage to flash the pit but the 3 file firmware doesn't work, download speedmod kernel and flag the kernel only. Then go to cwm and then mounts and storage. Format system, data and cache. Then go back to download mode after a battery pull. And then flash the 3 file firmware again. Do not select a pit file and make sure re partition is unchecked.
This should work.
Hope it helps.

Thanks for the help man, however when I try to flash the pit file, I got this:
"Re-Partition operation failed."
So, as you can see I'm off on step 1.
Also on download mode shows:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME:
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom.
So, no product name as you can see. And old TV set screen when I try to normally power on, or conecting the charger, or trying to go to recovery.
Got another trick under the sleeve? I would appreciate it... Thanks! :good:

It didn't do anything, Odin didn't have the time to flash the pit file, and it was already broken long before I try to re-partition the pit file through Odin.

What's the status:
*unable to get in recovery modus
*able to get in download modus
*when I want to install another mod within odin it doesn't do anything, it completes installing in 1 second
it actually stops @ <ID:0/006> NAND Write Start!!
I can wait for hours and it just stops @ this step...:crying:

* installed CWM
* installed the cyanogen ROM
* installed font installer => rebooted => crashed (stuck on samsung screen)
* cleared data/cache in recovery modus
* tried to install stock ROM => stuck on samsung screen
* added pit file (read on the forum that it could help on bricked phones) , stock ROM and flashed with Odin
final result: no recovery modus, only download modus and unable to flash anything with Odin
If you can get to download mode you should certainly be able to flash with odin. That is download mode's sole purpose and afaik it is not affected by any rom installations.

I also think that the pit file messed it up (pit file was the one suggested for the SG3 => GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit)
when installing PDA file via Odin it stops @ <ID:0/006> NAND Write Start!!
on the phone
status balk on phone is completed but not rebooting (it actually does nothing in Odin I guess)
Why don`t you read BEFORE you flash anything instead of AFTERWARDS
BUT I GUESS ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE IF YOU ARE NOT LIMITED BY ANY KNOWLEDGE.
You did it to yourself.
Boot into odin and flash a complete stock rom with NO pit file. Follow the instructions provided on these forums for returning to stock.
Never ever flash a pit again.

In a german board this problem got solved by flashing with the right pit file (and a 3-part firmware).
They said, "mx.pit" or "GT-I9300_mx_20120329.pit" should work.
HERE you get the files.
Unfortunately the original poster was not very specified with reporting which he had flashed, but he said it flashed.
Another one pointed out, that you need a 3-part firmware when flashing with repartition. Is that the case? I don't know.
EDIT: It can be that the solution wasn't the correct pit file, but only the 3-part firmware. Maybe try to flash a 3-part firmware first without repartition.
Best Regards
Rob

This is pretty strange. You should be able to flash any of the international roms and have it work as they are interchangeable.
When you run the cyanogen zip is it throwing up an error or just flat resetting?
Tried redownloading the zip or using a different nightly?

Use flash using sdcard or internal sdcard.
If somehow you erased your external card than copy the file using computer, or buy a USB cable and flash using Odin.

If you have cwm, yes copying a cwm zip file/ROM will be flashed, if the file is not corrupt.
If you are on stock recovery you have to flash using Odin.

Try this:
If you have a Samsung firmware with only PDA (NOT CSC, CODE & MODEM) do the same procedure selecting re-partition in odin, and using .pit file too.

The replier probably got all the same errors you did when in recovery. Make sure you have Kies Air installed on your PC for the drivers, and then kill off any processes related to Kies Air in the Task Manager. Then put your phone into download mode, open Odin, place files correctly in Odin, tick re-partition and click start. It obviously works as many have had to do this after not reading the FAQ on the ROM thread. Good luck anyway

Hello all,
I'm hoping someone can advise me with the following problem. I bought a unlocked S3 in Belgium (no branding, network locks etc), and the other day I noticed the latest firmware I9300XXBLFB on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
As I use OSX I found out that I needed to use Heimdall to flash it.
I download the ROM, unzipped it, then I renamed the tar.md5 to .tar extracted that which gave me the following files:
boot.img
cache.img
hidden.img
modem.bin
recovery.img
system.img
Now the problem began with the PIT... I required one, and stupidly went off to google in search of an S3 .pit file.... which I found
So I selected the .pit, added the files to their relevant partition, and flashed....
Upon rebooting the phone had updated, however there was no factory reset, everything I had previously was there (to my surprise), but the system info showed the correct rom, baseband, blah blah.
Yesterday I noticed I could not access any internet services. Say I open GMail app, and tried to open a mail, it closed the app after a number of seconds (without displaying the mail contents btw).... no error, just back to the main screen.
I also had problems using 3G or WiFi... nether was stable.
So I reflashed yesterday evening.. at which point I found out how to read in my own .pit file off the phone... but of course I've flashed someone else's previously. I did an MD5 sum on the one I extracted off my phone, and also on the one I downloaded off the net and they still matched.
Still I had the same problems, so I thought perhaps I should drop down a ROM version.
I grabbed a zip file with I9300XXALF2_I9300OXAALF2_I9300XXLF2_HOME.tar.md5 and proceeded to flash it.
Now the phone won't fully boot, it just sits in the Samsung animation and the blue LED pulsing.
I'm guessing I've stuffed up the PIT... the big question is now, what the hell should I do.
FYI I can still get to recovery mode and Odin mode.
Any help / advice would be really appreciated guys.
All the best and thanks in a advance
PS: I just this minute reflashed using Heimdall the I9300XXBLFB. Now it boots up, on first boot it said Updating Android optimsing applications 1/65 and proceeded thru to the point it asks me which language I want... this normal??

Hello all,
I'm hoping someone can advise me with the following problem.

UNZIP THE DOWNLOADED ROM ONCE FROM .RAR TO .TAR/MD5 FILE. AND PUT THE SINGLE .TAR FILE IN PDA SECTION IN ODIN AND FLASH IT. Really, start to read before you do anything
the instructions don;t mention requiring a pit, also, why remane .tar.md5 to .tar when the instructions say "Click PDA and select *.tar.md5". seeing as you can still connect with odin, you onlt have a soft brick and you can still use odin and flash something properly.

Erm, think you need to read first... I said I use Heimdall because I'm on OSX.

Once again, I'm using Heimdall not Odin. I'm on OSX not Windows.
Secondly the tar.md5 file is a tar file containing all the components that make the ROM.

Oke, my bad. I don`t use heimdal so can`t help you.
Go to recovery (power on with pressing VOL-UP + HOME + POWER when the phone is off) and do a factory reset / wipe data.
This wasn't caused by using a .PIT, though: never use a .PIT ever again, never ever.

Done that also, made no difference :-(
I don't care which ROM I recover correctly but I do want to get the phone working LOL
Use a windows pc and stop using mac?
Its really easy to fix your problem via Odin....
U can use usb jig to unbrick ur phone, and in the future, use odin for all the flashing on ur s3..

Stupid reply USB Jig does not unbrick a phone .
ODIN how can the OP use Odin and why would you think its better than Heimdall ??? .

OK the phone is running, but it's bizarre ...
Basically I'm connected to my WiFi signal, and Chrome works 100%... but the normal browser does'nt... just hangs, then closes.
GMail if I open it I can see all the mails, if I click on one, it just sits there with the circle going round, then closes, although if I scrolll thru all mails it does load more... very strange.
Seems any default apps that where installed have connection issues... It's really pi**ing me off....
Anyone?
BTW: *#1234# reports:
AP: I9300XXBLFB
CP: I93000XXLFB
CSC: I9300OXABLFB
It doesn't matter if you change .tar.md5 to .tar i always do it to.
What was the name of the pit you flashed?
Hi,
I downloaded GalaxyS3RootMac which contained a file called
s3pit.pit
MD5 (s3pit.pit) = c67ccbe3628793a9f0dba761c15e0896
Thats the one I used ... stupidly ... so I guess I overwrote mine own one...
I had this exact same thing with browser. That was caused eather from wrong csc or that I mistakenly flashed the firmware using phone field in odin and not pda. Try to change your csc to something else using *#272*IMEI#. That wipes the phone.
Tried what you recommend but still same problem
I choose BTC btw
It previously was on KOR

People read the damn topic before posting.
Usb jig is for accessing download mode, which he can do just fine without.
The phone is softbricked, not soft-hardbricked.
I've never used Heimdall but afaik it has caused issues in the past.
Is anyone you know using Windows or can you install Windows as Bootcamp on your Mac?
If so, please try again with Odin, but factoryreset your phone before and after.
Please also confirm you're actually on hardware i9300 or i9300T, not e.g. i9308

Hi, well you're completely correct I could go bootcamp although I prefer not to. If all else fails I'll do it that way. Sadly today I can't get my hands on a Windows system to use.
The phone is a Benelux model I believe (bought from Mobistar), under that battery it says i9300 from what I remember.
Cheers for the logical response
I got exactly the same problem as the OP with the S3, a Macbook Air on Lion, and Heimdall yesterday. I was frustrated but ended up trying Odin on a Windows 7 virtual machine to re-flash a stock firmware. It went through perfectly and I was saved.
Ok this is what I done
GT-I9300 UK 2 weeks old. I install I9300XXDLI 7_I9300OXADLI7_I9300XXDLI7_BTU with Odin all went fine and been using it for about a week but too many bugs on this OTA. So I wanted to downgrade back to I9300BVBLG 2_I9300ORABLG1_ORA everything went fine and I got a green PASS in Odin but when restated the phone would go no further then Samsung welcome screen and then just flashed with the blue led flashing very slow, I left it for 10mins but nothing, just the same. I closed Odin and then tried to reboot the phone..again nothing!! A friend told me to try again but this time with re-partition ticked and use this PIT GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit with I did..hmm I wish I never!! That is when it all went Pete Tong
The phone started to re-partition got a big blue line and STOPPED!! I left it like that for 10mins before closing Odin. Now when I try to flash the phone Odin start but nothing happens!! I have a screenshot of Odin hanging but can not post it here yet
Can someone pls help me :crying:
Have you tried wiping caches/dalvik cache? Can you go t download mode? If yes, then flash the firmware again or flash another firmware.
I hope this helps

First power down your device, Go to stock recovery(Home+power button+volume up), Select factory data reset there, Then go into download mode and flash the stock ics firmware..
Do not select re partition.

Then your best bet is to connect to samsung kies, If it detects your phone it'll go to recovery mode and will try to restore it, Try connecting it to kies.
And NEVER EVER AGAIN flash the pit file if you don't know what you are doing.... This is the fastest way to brick your shiny toy ...
There are different pit files for different SGS3 models which will destroy your phone.

No every time I try and flash the phone Odin just hangs at this point "NAND Write Start" and nothing happens after this and my SG3 just as a blue line across the screen, plus Odin takes ages to start the upgrade
you probably used the wrong pit file, there are ones for the 16, 32,64Gb models
Find correct pit
Flash it on its own with repartition ticked, no auto reboot
Flash stock 3 part firmware
Hopefully this will sort it

Hey guys i'm trying to fix a friend's i9300. He bought it from someone already in the current state.
It boots to the samsung logo but does nothing after that
Model: GT-I9300
FCC ID: A3LGTI9300A
SSN: I9300GSMH
I have tried to ODIN I9300ZNUBML1_I9300CHUBML1_CHU.zip onto it, but it says its missing pit partition, so i tried to load a pit onto it, I've tried GT-I9300_mx_20120329.pit but it gets stuck of getting pit mapping.
What am I doing wrong? I have no clue which country this phone is from either.
I have attached the *.PIT file I used to restore my phone. It is for the 16GB i9300. Remember in ODIN to include the ROM in the /PDA section, and the *.pit file in the section where it asks for it. Have the following boxes checked:
Re-Partition
Auto-Reboot
F. Reset Time.
Phone Bootloader Update
Flash the ROM, and let ODIN do it's thing. DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR DEVICE UNTIL IT IS DONE!! Doing this will completely wipe the phone, and return it to a factory state.
Flash the firmware and pit at the same time, or try the rescue firmware in general thread.
If it still fails then emmc chip is blown, new motherboard required.
