I'm not sure why you would expect a modified device like that to take an OTA, or why you would want to. If you do want the OTA, you have to restore the phone to stock. Other than that, you will have to see if someone will release the update as a custom rom to install through TWRP. There are no other options.
Are u asking why i expect? Because the developer of TWRP for z2 pro sais that it works OTA

It is a solution, i need the stock recovery, to flash it, then update, and then revert back to twrp , root.
So anyone have the recovery stock img for me pls.
Thank u a lot!

They're not referring to stock OTAs, but custom ones, such as CyanogenMod. You might need to flash the whole firmware package or see if you can extract the recovery img from it. If you can extract, then just flash with Flashify.

So if you've updated to the new security patch. It patches twrp. Meaning you can flash it. But it instantly get patched by the stock recovery. Im thinking if we can find a way to downgrade the firmware. We can get twrp and root and the custom roms :highfive: Bc
we can use the fastboot to get into twrp and flash something to downgrade us but thats about it. If you can Id really love the help of you guys! Just don't update to the new patch. I did with twrp causing this whole mess on my end .
anyone please dont let this thread die we need to get this fixed

it's common sense you need stock recovery and stock system to use an OTA update.
And yes if you choose to install an OTA update with TWRP installed it will get replaced with stock recovery.
It's no big deal you can use the dload/update.app method to update the phone and then simply boot TWRP and Install the TWRP.img from TWRP
by using Install / Image / yourTWRP.IMG
idk i tried to flash the test build and it oem flashed and Now I need a puk code
Please Help me how to root Developer rom? I Unlocked My Phone... I will 2 work just root my device then flash TWRP then Flash CM or Any Custom Rom hmm nothing else..Please Anyone Help me... I want to install Custom rom my devices

Clarify whether you have already unlocked your bootloader, as you mentioned you unlocked your phone. I understood that to mean that you unlocked the bootloader.
The instructions are all over everywhere.
I too came from a Samsung so I know exactly what you think. The only thing you have to do differently is unlock the bootloader and there are clear instructions out there to do so. Flashing TWRP is about the same, so you can decide which version you wish to use. I use the standard but I started out using Cofface so perhaps you should consider using TWRP Alka or Cofface.
Flashing SuperSU is the same with TWRP as doing it on a Samsung. That isn't different.
I already download twrp 3.0.2.2 Official but how to install this twrp my device??

Hi,
I want to install twrp in my 5x l24 us version. I read some threads here at XDA about twrp and rooting of honor 5x. But I am not sure where to start. I am hoping that someone here can guide me a little. I currently have emui 4.0 with marshmallow official from huawei.
My questions are:
1. Should I make nan droid backup of my phone before proceeding to install twrp? I am not sure what exactly is nan droid backup.
2. Is there any risk of device being bricked during the installation of twrp?
3. I read a thread named twrp for l24 l22 l23 and so on.. Does this method work anymore? Because I see users complaining about some twrp issues.
4. What are the safety measures I should do before doing any rooting, flashing?
Note - I don't do much rooting or flashing stuff that's why I am asking here. Thank you in advance

It's all already answered, but OK.
0. You must unlock your bootloader before any of those,
1. you can try just booting into TWRP (fastboot boot recovery.img) and try backing up everything from there. I'm not sure that one works, I simply flashed TWPR and continued backing up from there,
2. No way you can brick it if you go by instructions; follow simple instructions from TWRP thread == recovery flash without issues. This device is flash-friendly
3. This one? That would be an official TWRP thread, so... it works, my L21 is on latest 3.1.1 build.
4. Always have a backup and don't flash anything you're not sure it will work and that's it. So, you've freshly flashed TWRP, first thing would be to make a system backup, that way, if anything goes wrong with rooting or custom ROMs, you can always go back to stock one without hastle.
Hope that helped.

Hey I had EMUI 4.0 so Android 6.0.1 installed. So I unlocked bootloader and installed twrp without doing a backup. But now there is a big problem. No custom Roms will ever boot. So I cant boot to any rom and don't have a backup.

Um, you did a clean install? I see you're from Germany, so I guess you're using KIW-L21 model, which is fully compatible with all ROMs out there (and it still didn't receive VoLTE update if I'm not wrong). Try clearing everything and flashing again, if not, restore stock recovery via fastboot and do a emergency reflash of full EMUI firmware.

Yes I did a clean install with Aosp Rom, LineageOS, Ressurection remix, XenonHD Rom but every Rom encpountered a bootloop where the animation ran for 10 seconds and then stopped. After that the phone rebooted and so on . And do you have a link for flashable L21 EMUI stock rom? And stock firmware only installable with stock recovery or TWRP?
I also encountered this situation, how to solve, help me! Thank you

Can u explain what u did clearly ?
So i was trying to root my Oneplus 6t that was running OXynogen 10.3.4 Android 10 using TWRP & MagicSk.I read a tutorial somewhere explaining how to install TWRP recovery & then flash Magicsk.I successfully installed TWRP recovery on my phone using cmd with the help of fastboot. However, when i tried flashing Magicsk using TWRP,i got an error "KEY VERIFICATION FAILED".Now, i don't plant to proceed with rooting my phone any further. Can someone please tell me how can i undo all of my actions and get my phone back in original condition as it was when i purvhased.Like pure stock android with no TWRP,No unlocked bootloader...Just like a phone's software looks when purchased new.
TWRP can't get uninstalled. You've to flash Stock ROM to get rid off of it.

How do u suggest i flash the custom ROM? Will i have to do it using TWRP? Oneplus gives a .zip file of stock ROM on its website. Also will doing this lock my bootloader again?
@Illicit_Lokesh
I thought I made it clear.
FYI: Recovery and ROM are two completely independent different things.
No one needs a custom recovery as TWRP to flash Stock ROM: This can be done with Android SDK tools like ADB and Fastboot.
Hello,
I am a newbie into this.
I want to root the Pad to run some apps that require root access. The bootloader is already unlocked via the miflash unlock tool.
Next I tried to install TWRP 3.4.0.0 via using the guide from twrp.me
https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomimipad4.html
I am able to load the image into recovery section and I am also able to boot into recovery straight after that in order to enter TWRP (using Vol up plus power button as the guide mentioned). But once the Android system is booted up the TWRP bootloader in the recovery section is gone/wiped whatever because the Mi boot menu appears again.
What do I miss out?
It is also recommend to perform a backup in TWRP before rooting (magisk) or flashing a custom rom. The backup fails with a couple of red line "unable to mount...".
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
You are using the stock MIUI right? MIUI will automatically revert recovery back to the stock one. You have to install a custom rom to retain TWRP.

Correct still using stock MIUI. Sadly, that means root and stock MIUI won't work at the same time.

Although I never use stock MIUI, I think you can root normally. You don't need TWRP to maintain root.
