[SM-G850F][Howto] Mirrorlink / Lollipop / Root - Samsung Galaxy Alpha

I have bought recently a Galaxy Alpha
Android : 4.4.4
Product code : SM-G850FHSEXEF
Version : G850FXXU2BNK3
I have rooted it with KingRoot
Why ? Because, I am living in France.
And in France, when you buy a product by web, you have 2 weeks during you can return the product if you are not satisfied with it.
And I doesn't want to use Odin due to the eFuse Knox
Nevertheless, I tried to connect by mirrorlink to my new car but it doesn't work.
I have installed Drivelink but no success
The galaxy alpha seems to be mirrorlink certified (soory, I can not post the link)
Due to the date of certification (April 2015) and these information in the following link (sorry I cannot put the link doclot.io/2015/04/29/6-mois-avec-le-samsung-galaxy-alpha/)
It seems that Mirrorlink work only with Lollipop
Do you know if , on Galaxy Alpha, mirrorlink works with KitKat or only lollipop ?
If it works only with Lollipop, I will have to update the android OS.
I have tried by OTA, but it doesn't work because It says that modification have been done
With Kies, It seems possible (I have not tried, I have just seen that a Lollipop update is proposed)
My question is root and lollipop.
How to keep root or to root after upgrade . Do I have to unroot before upgrade ?
Is Kingroot still working ? Or by Odin ?
I want to be root in order to delete somme applications I don't use
Thanks in advance for all your help.

The firmware Lollipop is G850FXXU2COD4 (thanks to Phone Info)

I can't answer your question concerning mirrorlink on lollipop (or even kitkat). I don't know if it works...never used it.
But to upgrade your device to Lollipop you can flash the 5.0.2 XEF factory image (original firmware) with Odin WITHOUT triggering KNOX. Only putting custom recovery to your phone triggers KNOX (that's what happens when you root your Lollipop firmware with Odin by flashing Chainfire's CF-Auto-Root). Kingroot does't work for our device on 5.0.2 Lollipop until now, I don't know if it ever will...
If you unroot your device you also should be able to receive OTA Lollipop update, KIES then also works.

So in the end, what do you recommend ?
* To keep root with kingroot, so updgrade with kies to lollipop and wait for two weeks and root with CF-Autoroot ?
* To use Super- Pro Sume, so upgrade with kies to lollipop and wait for two weeks and root with CF-Autoroot ?
* to unroot, so upgrade with OTA or Kies ?
* other ?

Upgrading to Lollipop will unroot your phone and you cannot gain root unless flashing CF-Auto-Root. If you want to stay rooted you have to stay on KitKat otherwise I would flash 5.0.2 XEF firmware with Odin and CF-Autoroot in two weeks.

It is possible for ODIN. Use CF-Auto-Root.tar

I have switched to Lollipop with Kies.
So with Lollipop you have acces to mirrorlink (and also android auto)
But I have losed my root....
When I check to CF_Autoroot, it shows
samsung SM-G850F sltexx slte universal5430 exynos5 KTU84P.G850FXXU2ANI2 4.4.4
So no mention of lollipop.
Is any way to root a galaxy alpha with Lollipop ?
Thanks

CF_Autoroot also works for Lollipop, here's the link to chainfire's page with the download: https://download.chainfire.eu/529/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-slte-sltexx-smg850f.zip

[Q] Verizon Z2 tablet Model SGP561 firmware 23.0.1.E.0.208.

I have the Verizon Z2 tablet Model SGP561 firmware 23.0.1.E.0.208 Android 4.4.4.
I am trying to root, install custom recovery, and install ROM's. From what I'm reading this is not possible. In fact, there is no easy solution to obtain root. From what I read, I will have to downgrade the Firmware to Android 4.4.2 and then upgrade using a patch to 4.4.4.
The thing is all of the information is pretty old(last year). Has there been any progress made, or am I stuck? I would love to Root this and run any ROM, even if it is a stock ROM.
Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated!
I have a Verizon Z2 LTE SGP561 with the latest update of 4.4.4 and i managed successfully to Root it with the latest KingRoot apk.
It was very easy - just download the KingRoot apk to your device , run it from the device and it will do the work.
After it will complete you will have KingRoot user which is the superuser app for permission, no need to install SuperUser of SuperSU.
I checked with root-checker to verify and indeed it was rooted.
even though the bootloader is locked you are rooted.
I managed to remove all Verizon bloatware apps.
You can find the latest KingRoot apk in the following link:

Root S6 Edge

Hello,
I just got s S6 Edge SM-G925F, It has already android 5.1.1 version with kernel: version: 3.10.61-5447113. I would like to root the device using the pingpong tool without tripping Knox and I read that is not working on android 5.1.1.
My question is: if i downgrade from android 5.1.1 to 5.0.1 is it possible to root the device without tripping knox ?
Another question is : Am I gonna trip knox if after I root the device after I downgrade to android 5.0.1 and install TWRP for example in order to flash another ROM ?
A word of caution, downgrading from 5.1.1 to 5.0.2 is possibly ill-advised, and not for Knox reasons, according to sources .
Apparently the bootloader introduced with the 5.1.1 update takes offence to trying to be downgraded and throws the phone into a bootloop.
however, you are in a privileged position, running the F variant, there is a way to do pretty much whatever you want without worrying about Knox.
see this thread for details.

Thanks a million for the information, I am still not sure if I will root it because I like the fingerprint scanner functionality.

S4 root on of1
Yes you can root on OF1. I did mine just recently. Use this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/general/root-of1-t3249971.
Good luck
The last and only way to get root...
THE LAST AND ONLY WAY LEFT FOR ROOTING....VERIZON S4 LOLLIPOP...
Listen guys I think this could be the only chance of rooting s4 i545 0f1 I have tried every single root king/towel root etc etc on pc and phone too but all failed because the main reason is that when ever u try to root it verifies the build/kernel number and when it sees that it's 0f1 It stops working because the new most stable update of lollipop with the build number 0f1 doesn't comes with a unlocked boot loader so that u can install other stuffs just like. I phone specially in version and some other verient it would be a waste of time to try any other methos except this let me explain it did u know a while ago after the release of lollipop some apps were only supported by the 5.0 lollipop or higher when people lowere then lollipop like jelly bean and kitkat tried to download it from play store it said that this vision is not compatible with your devise because the play store decetected the 4.0 version just like king root does with build and kernel and stops but some geeks found the way to solve that by changing the build and krnel to latest version like 5.0 without even effecting system what if we could do the same with the build and kernel member to the previous working one like 0C1 then I think king root and other apps might get to working the reference how to change the kernel and build with out effecting the system is just go to YouTube and type ( fix "your device isn't compatible with this version" ) this will give u the reference for that location and app to change the build and kernel number I haven't tried it yet but if u r on that please reply me but hurry I think this can really work just need some one to test that but hurry... and please do inform back if it really works...c:
OR the other last and only option left would be to downgrade your version s4 i545 kernel = ..... 0F1 to 0C1 kitkat Which is now posible with Oden and then root it then turn it back to lollipop 5.0.1 kernel = .... 0F1 the most stable kernel version out there hope that helped u all .... c: Thanks

Downgrade from 5.1 to 4.4.2 (NK2 or NH5)

Hi,
I am on stocked FOF6, unrooted. I've searched and could not find consistent answers.
Some suggest that this can be done without tripping KNOX in one step: From 5.1.1 to 4.4 so you can root
Another suggestion is a 2 step process: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65236821&postcount=61
And another saying you can't http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65190239&postcount=54. This also appears in the compilation thread Compilation of S5 (G900T) Stock Firmware/Root Methods/Bootloader/Modem/Recovery:
*Note: Don't use official 5.1.1 if you want to be able to downgrade firmware. Follow these instructions.*

Has anyone successfully downgraded (without a rooted 5.1.1)?
Thanks

what is the best way to root my galaxy s4 i337 running 5.0.1

I was hoping to install a custom rom as well but the way I rooted it last time it soft bricked, I used kingroot
Did you use the desktop or via the app on the phone? The app on the phone plus using SuperSU Me Pro should work. Otherwise, you will have to downgrade back to 4.4.2 NB1 update and root that then update via process mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-to-update-to-i337oc3-5-0-1-keeproot-t3075814
Reference 2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/root-att-s4-5-0-1-t3165816
Note - there are multiple security updates for 5.0.1 so you should read through that thread.
