No operating system - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I have a nexus 9 which I have rooted and flashed with TWRP
Today I attempted to flash Marshmallow onto my devices but after rebooting I am given a message that decryption has been unsucessful and that I has to factory wipe my tablet.
However if I press the factory restore button it takes me to TWRP recovery boot menu.
I would like to know what I have to do from that point onwards
Thank you
EDIT: Fixed

bootloop and white screen

hi all, my friend got mediapad and he wanted custom rom so I flashed twrp recovery and his tablet became bricked, it shows huawei logo, then white screen and then after few seconds it shuts down, I tried to restore my backup to his tablet (CM10.1) via twrp and then it booted without problems but when I do wipe data/actory reset, the white screen and bootloop appears again, where is the problem? in twrp recovery? should I choose cwm for his device? twrp shows error "E: unknown filesystem datamedia" (also on my device but mine works without problems)
thanks for any help

Did you say you did a restore then you wiped data/factory reset?
Try opening twrp wipe data, wipe the system perform factory reset, then installed fresh version of cm10.1
but this happen also with stock recovery and stock rom install (dload folder), it starts installation (green android with gearbox) and after 2 seconds it restarts (and keep looping) it looks like corrupted partitions and it started after twrp flash
maybe you need to enter to fastboot mode and then push stock's ROM one-by-one like ICS beta back to honeycomb
what partitions must I flash ? are their names same as img files in rom's zip?

Need help, Stuck at Samsung Custom Lock

Been getting frustrated over the past day.
Currently am up and running on a backup of Hyperdrive RLS 8.1, but I am afraid to reboot because for all of last night, any backup or clean install of any ROM I flashed would either
1) boot up the first time, but any subsequent reboots would result in stuck at the Samsung Custom Lock screen
2) not boot up at all, stuck at the Samsung Custom Lock screen
When I get stuck at the Custom Lock screen, I do a battery pull and then attempt to reboot into recovery. However, trying to boot recovery would not work (phone reboots itself after briefly showing "booting recovery" every time) until I plugged in the charger and tried to boot recovery (not sure if just coincidence?). Currently running TWRP 2.5.0.2
At this point, the recovery asks for a password (I have never set a password, don't know why this happens?). This prevents me from factory resetting (gives me an operation failed) because I need to "decrypt data" or something along those lines, using a password which I am sure I have never set. The internal storage is apparently unable to mount without decrypting data using a password..?
I found that in the WIPE menu I can perform the FORMAT DATA action which is successful and fixes the decrypt data problem, and I am able to factory reset and then restore a working ROM or install a new one (I tried CleanROM 1.6 with patch to 1.6.5 since it was on my sdcard).
This brings me to this position at the current moment. After formatting and factory resetting, I have done the following with such results:
1) Restoring my STOCK, ROOTED TWRP backup from before my install of Hyperdrive 8.1. Booted up fine, but a reboot gave the same results of stuck at the custom lock screen
2) Installing CleanROM, booted up fine the first time, but got stuck on the first reboot at the first bootup screen (it changed it to the original
Samsung Galaxy S4" instead of the custom lock?). I went back to recovery and went through the same process (decrypt by formatting data, factory reset, restore/install new rom)
3) Restoring my Hyperdrive 8.1 TWRP backup (first backup of the ROM while it was apparently running fine, reboots were normal and no problems yet). I am currently running this right now but have not attempted a reboot because I do not have the time for the next few days to mess around with my phone.
Summary: Stuck at initial boot screen (Custom Lock or Samsung Galaxy S4), TWRP 2.5.0.2 asks for password for decrypt?? & cannot factory reset, able to format data which allows factory reset after, restored Hyperdrive 8.1 backup, currently afraid to reboot in fear of getting stuck again.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I am considering ODIN a stock image and completely starting over, but that will have to wait until the weekend.

[Q] issues wiping Nexus 7

Figured I'd post this here since I didn't get any other replies in the Nexus forum.
I have been trying to wipe my Nexus 7 (2012) clear but the wipe functionality doesn't appear to work.
I've been rooted on stock (using TWRP) but recently sideload 4.4.2 and removed root in the process.
OTA installed and I root was removed but recovery is now showing "no commands".
I have been able to get past that sometimes but not consistently and using the recovery wipe/factory reset doesn't do anything.
I tried to fastboot and do a wipe from the command line but that doesn't seem to be working either.
The device won't boot properly, it crashes after a few seconds once loaded and automatically restarts so I wanted to clean everything up and start fresh.
I tried custom temp recovery (since it's the only option available to boot from fastload) and while I can get into temp TWRP the wipe option doesn't do anything.
I also tried to reinstall the bootloading from the 4.4.2 image but that didn't help.
Any ideas what else I may be able to try?

Blank screen after restoring backup with TWRP

I own the Nexus 9 (Wi-fi model) and am running Android 6.0 MRA58N, rooted with the TWRP recovery. I wanted to to update to android 6.0.1 so downloaded the latest factory image (MMB29R) from Google's website. I rebooted to TWRP so I could flash the new image. When I realized that you cannot flash system.img through TWRP I had already flashed the boot.img. I attempted to reboot only to get stuck in a bootloop. "Luckily me" I had taken a backup through TWRP previously (boot, data and system). So I went again in TWRP, factory reset and restored (successfully as per the message) the backup. Now every time I boot I see Google's logo, then the "Your device is corrupt" message, that I'm seeing since I installed TWRP (it doesn't seem to affect anything) and then a blank screen that goes on forever.
I had this backup moved to my hard drive and the moved it back to my device. Tried the "fix permissions" option in TWRP as well. No go.
Any suggestions?
I managed to fix it by installing the system, cache, boot and vendor partitions from the new build and the data partition from my nandroid backup.
same happen to me yesterday..what i did is,reboot into fastboot.and then flash vendor, system, boot, cache and also recovery..i have twrp install, but it show 0mb on internal storage.flash stock recovery fix that problem..and after that i flash twrp, supersu and elementalx again..it fix my problem

You need to wipe data ,cache and dalvik cache from twrp first and then flash cm12.1 .

hi friends back in house,
The problem is not cyanogen beacause the phone work with only cyanogen but if I want to move in modaco or stock rom is impossible. Why? I don't know before I flash modaco for example I wipe data, cache and dalvik the flash working progress ok but after reboot, is bootloop (Is not a bootloop I don't know what explicated this) in honor animation. Thanks and excuse me for my bad english sorry!
If someone has a backup twrp for honor 5x L21 I thank in advance.
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/how-to/guide-restore-honor-5x-t3321631
Sorry for quick instructions but these should help you.
Enter fastboot (Hold volume down, press power to turn on). Flash TWRP.
Reboot holding down both volume up and volume down, enter TWRP.
Do a factory reset within TWRP. Now mount storage to your computer and copy the "Custom ROM starter template" zip from http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/377002-r3-custom-rom-starter-template-honor-5x-kiw-l21-b130/ as this is a full, untouched stock ROM ready for flashing with TWRP.
Download stock recovery image from https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24421527759890493 and copy it to your 5x device.
Now first flash the ROM you downloaded. Once this has been installed, click Install in TWRP again then click the button bottom right to switch to image. Click the stock recovery image you copied to your 5x then select 'recovery'. Once you have flashed the recovery, exit TWRP and select reboot system.
The phone will boot into EMUI as normal. Quickly go through setup skipping everything then open Settings and do a full factory reset & wipe internal storage. This will take your 5x fully back to stock.
Hold volume down, press power to turn on. does not turn fastboot mode

Hi there,
I have a KIW-L21 and tried to go back to stock rom using this method.
I already had TWRP so I skipped that step, I downloaded the rom and stock recovery from the links you mentioned.
I couldn't find factory restore in TWRP however I wiped everything (except for the external SD)
Once i flashed the rom then recovery i rebooted the phone however after showing the honor + android logo, the phone is stuck on the colour changing honor logo but wont go any further.
I have booted in recovery more (emui) and tried to do a factory reset from there but after 14% of formatting data I get an error "Data and cache format failed" and the only option I have after is "shutdown system now".
I can't even reflash TWRP to restore from a backup as I can't enable USB debugging on the phone.
Can anyone help please?
*FIXED!* although I couldn't go past the bootlogo, I extracted update.app and put it in dload folder on my externat SD and rebooted phone while holding power, volume up + volume down. It updated and booted back to stock firmware ... Happy person again!
