Just thought I'd share an easy fix for the Shield's less than stellar buttons (my only complaint about the Shield)
Buy these
And do this:
And that's pretty much it. I'm sure the jelly type buttons would work just as well. Only used on the power button as I don't have a problem with the volume buttons.
which ones did you buy? (note2, s6 etc)
btw awesome idea!

Hey thanks. Since I have an S5 I picked up those. I'll probably try jelly buttons as soon as I can find some without glitter and rhinestones. Though that would make one FABULOUS Shield tablet :highfive:
Great idea! What case is that and does it have a flap? I want just a back plate shell to cover the sharp edges of the Shield. I currently have a Turtle shell on it and it's just too large for normal use, it gets in the way of using the screen when in landscape mode. I'd love just a solid back shell or TPU case.

Case is this one ProCase SlimSnug. Perfect fit, magnetic cover, screen wake for $10.99. In a perfect world where things were priced for value, Nvidia's case would be $1.99, and this would be $20-25. Buy this and pretend you spent more, 'cause you'll love it.
Great idea! Since they were so cheap, I figured I'd try it. It works reasonably well...and better than not having it. It still feels a bit wonky, but now I can hit the power button faster and more accurately.
Regarding cases; I had both, and I prefer the nvidia one. It's definitely a personal preference thing.
I did something similar. I had a sheet of egrips and cut a piece to fit over the button.
Thank you. My button covers finally arrived and are doing well. Yes, they overhang a pretty good amount, but the power comes on every time I push in the area of the power button, just as responsive as the button on my old Nexus 7.
The Shield people should just throw one of these in with the tablet, honestly. Or mail a few in an envelope upon paying $3 or so.

Thanks S2W for the review. I have a question for you. I also have the bookgem but don't know if mine is defective. When opened the gem sits on the front spring rather then the the two front feet. It seems like there should be a rubber pad on these (to stop it from sliding and holding the gem above the spring hub). Does yours sit this way?

Your welcome... The spring hub is aligned with the 2 front feet of my stand. I did notice that when I closed the rear legs, the spring hub is no longer aligned. Standing the bookgem this way will give you a bit of that teeter-totter action since its meant to stand on an angle. But don't care for it as much in this position since it becomes no longer use as a stand but closed to put away.
Overall, I like the stand. Hopefully you're within your timescale and can return it back if defective. IMO, Its kind of useless to me, if you dont have the front feet stabled and aligned because of the spring hub dropping lower.
We have to trust that our Gtabs are secured. So if your unsure I would return it.
Glad you you caught the video.
Book Gem
I've had my book gem over the weekend and had to make one mod.
just above the book gem sticker there were are two pyramid looking stubs.
I took an excacto knife (a box cutter knife should work as well) to reduce the stubs and filed the remain flat.
Other then that I love my Gtab Gem. With the legs in, it's easier to hold with one hand, imo.

Black leather case delivered
Thank you for your excellent YouTube review. I'm now enjoying the leather case that arrived today. An excellent fit, no problems with port access or power/volume buttons. Definitely adds class to the G-Tab experience. I highly recommend it!
Stand and Case Together
Great videos!
I really like both the case and the stand, but would like to use them together. Is it possible to use the gtab with the stand while it is still in the case? Maybe you could do another video review of both together
Anyone know of a Kindle DX case that folds over into a stand in landscape mode? The only ones I have seen the stand is in portrait mode.
Thanks!
I must thank you. I was going back and forth between getting the Kindle DX case and the Zec case. I was on the fence about the Kindle case, but your video review totally solidified my decision. Got mine in today, and I couldn't be happier.
Thanks, man!
Saw your review of the Kindle case on YouTube. It was instrumental in my decision to order it for every day use. Thank you for taking the time to put it up there.
I had ordered and received one of those cases with the built-in usb keyboard before I made this decision as the keyboard is not silicone and will damage my screen if I decided to use it every day. The other case also didn't really keep my tablet secure at all and I felt it would slip out of it at any given moment.
I stopped carrying my powerhouse laptop with me when I travel on business (with the power adapter it weighs about 20 lbs). Now I just carry my G Tablet and use LogMeIn Ignition for Android to remote in to my laptop I keep at my office. I kept the other case so I can use it when I travel on business and need to type a lot. But I am really looking forward to receiving this Kindle DX cover so I can use it every day.

In the video, it looks like the wings come in contact with the touchscreen itself when placed in portrait. In light of how strong those springs look, I wouldn't want them in contact with the touchscreen at all. Perhaps this case is more for landscape only?

After reading this post I tried to place the gtab on portrait and carefully examine what you stated above... with mines it doesnt touch the screen, I will say that the paddings are close by the border of the touch screen but does not effect it. I can only speak for myself on this.
Hope that helps.

I'm with the gentleman above. I would love to purchase this one but can it adequately be used as a landscape stand? That's really the make or break decision for me. I currently use the cheap carrying case from Sears to hold it so I may opt for the Bookgem or another case.

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered one yesterday. They haven't shipped it out yet so I could cancel but I think for $20, I'll take the risk. They do have great return policies.
I know the one with the keyboard is comparable priced but after putting aaron's back cover on mine, I don't really want to stick velcro on the back of it to keep it in place.
I guess I just should have opted for the Book gem and continued to use the Sears carrying case.

I was just coming on to post this because it seems as if this company is selling a different case now. My case doesn't have the same sheen on the outside, nor do I have the larger pockets on the inside like the one in the video. Never the less, it seems to hold the tablet the same, so I'm fine with it. Best option I've seen for the price I paid. ( $18.50 with free shipping.) I should add that I'm fine with the smaller inside pockets, as they don't push on the screen like the one in the video, but I do wish I had the outer cover as it does look like a better quality than the case I have.
I've been looking for a solution that would offer an easier way to hold the TF with one hand and still allow full 360 rotation. I came across these two on Amazon and I was wondering if anyone here has tried them. Here's the quick pros & cons that I can see:
Hand-e-holder: http://amzn.to/jQ5jzc
+ Hold with one hand / 360 rotation
+ Comfortable wide neoprene backing for your hand
+ Size doesn't matter Uses an adhesive disc to mount one side of the holder to the back of your tablet - so it should work with any tablet out there
- I see the adhesive as a con also - not sure I want to stick anything on the back of my TF. Plus, once it's stuck on there it's semi-permanent in that you can't take it off one day and then stick it back on the next (you'll need to buy a new disc for $6)
- Price is kinda high IMO at $40
Video (47 seconds in): http://video.foxnews.com/v/966135816001/gadget-gift-guide-for-dads/
HeloStrap: http://amzn.to/jKnO39
+ Hold with one hand / 360 rotation
+ Comes in multiple colors (red, green, blue, black)
+ Price: Only $25, so $15 cheaper than the Hand-e-holder above
+ Attaches to your tablet via elastic bands or grips so you can easily attach or remove it. Also will work while your table is in a sleeve.
- "Officially" only supports ipad, ipad2, & Xoom. I did a comparison and while the TF is longer on one side, it's shorter on the other. So I jumped into my wayback machine (and google) to figure out the "hypotenuse" and it looks like the TF is ~20mm longer. From what *I* can see of the HeloStrap in the images it certainly looks like the elasticity could accommodate that extra 20mm.
- The part of the HeloStrap that your hand fits into doesn't look as comfortable as the Hand-e-holder. Actually, that was the only con mentioned for it on the Amazon reviews - that it could be a tad more comfortable. But it also wasn't bad enough for folks to warrant it any less than 4 stars.
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpZ4-pdq3ag
I put in an order for the HeloStrap (black) because I like that I can pop it on and off easily - with or without my TF in the sleeve. I'll post back here when it shows up and let folks know how it works out.
I'd still like to hear from anyone else that's tried one of these - OR that has found another option that allows for the 360 rotation.
Please post up how you like it when you get it.

Ya thing so?? Why? The HeloStrap seems to hold fine on the iPads - and it will be a bit more snug on the TF.
Even on the other one, the adhesive seems pretty tight.
I'm not going to be doing any BMXing with it - I'm just looking for easier one-handed holding while couch surfing and swyping with the other..
Unfortunately neither one was Amazon Prime so it may take a several days to get here. Hopefully before the weekend though and I'll be sure to report back!
Never even knew anything like these existed. Of the two I like the HeloStrap more... really tempted to buy one, but I've wasted too much money lately so ill wait for a review.

What? You'd likely shatter your pad doing that no matter what.
I went a similar but slightly different route with the Padlette (padlette.com) which I bought off of Amazon. It's not as fancy as the other options, but it's pretty heavy duty and I have little to no fear about it breaking or slipping off. You can either hold it in one hand or you can slip you hand in behind.
In either case, an option worth looking at.
How comfortable is the padlette on your hand? Does it feel tight after an hour or two holding the Transformer? Is it equally comfortable in portrait and landscape? Also, how is the fit on the tablet?
Also, a question about the Helo, Do the straps at the corners mark/scratch the tablet trim or screen?
Excellent FIND...and I think I am tending towards ordering one too....
I will do more research as well and keep you'al updated...
Good luck with yours.
Regards,
Misfitz

I find it very comfortable. I was participating in an event this weekend that required that I hold the pad for roughly four hours and I did so with no problems. You can either grab it with your fingers (my preferred method) by hooking them around the straps, or you can simply slide your hand in behind.
Because it's at the same angle in either portrait or landscape it's equally easy to hold it in either configuration. I also like that it's removable without leaving any evidence that it was there. The only (minor) problem I've seen is that I have to have it oriented in SW to NE because in the NW to SE direction it covers up the volume rocker.
Thanks. I'm very interested in the padlette... sounds like it may be worth $20.
Sorry for the delay in following-up. I wanted to put a short video up, but my Sony Vegas just hasn't been cooperating with me.
I received the HeloStrap last Thursday and finally had a chance to play with it last night.
Overall, I think it's great. I definitely agree with the 4/5 stars rating on Amazon. The only con being that the hand part of the strap could have been more comfortable. It's not horrible by any means. You just notice it when you first start using it, but then quickly forget about it.
It still looks like the Hand-e-holder would win in the comfort category, BUT - I prefer the HeloStrap because of the lower price and the fact that I can slip it on or off easily vs having to semi-permanently stick the Hand-e-holder on. If I didn't have the Asus sleeve for my TF that probably wouldn't be as much of a factor.
BTW, the HeloStrap gives a nice snug fit on the Transformer with or without the sleeve. It's snug, but not so tight that it would be a concern (this is what I wanted to show in the video). It definitely feels very secure - I don't see the TF "falling out" of it or anything.
It certainly made the couch surfing MUCH more enjoyable last night which was my primary goal!
If I didn't have the sleeve I would be much more tempted to try out the Hand-e-holder, but the HeloStrap is the one that gives me the option of using it easily with the sleeve or without. Now i just need to see if my wife can come up with some idea for making the hand part a lil cushier!
I'll take another crack and getting a video together and will post that as soon as I can.
I finally got around to shooting a quick video of the HeloStrap on my TF. Hopefully this will give you an idea of how it fits - with and without the sleeve.

Not sure, but given that it's a full sleeve/case made to fit the ipad, I don't think it would work for the TF. The dimensions are too different.
The HeloStrap just needs to stretch diagonally from one corner to another - whereas that sleeve360 would have to fit all 4 corners.
Let us know if you give it a shot though!
That extra tension on the corners of my Transformer would amplify the screen bleed issue I'm having by 200%. Looks cool though.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Know what - I think you can stick this to the outer part of your folio and use it. So that the TF remains pristine.
Even better - with the Techtree stand, you can create your own 360 degree rotating hand holder.

My Review:
I have the case. I purchased it on eBay. It is very form fitting. It feels sturdy, tough, and yet soft. It is elegant in design and swift in feel. It feeos like it will do a great job of protecting the phone from dings and dents. It is very nice. The only downside, it has a very thin line of demarcation around the sides that make it feel weird. But don't let that stop you from getting a good case. It allows access to all of the ports, HDMI and MicroUSB, and covers the power and camera buttons, along with the volume rocker. It does not scratch easily, if at all. I give a total rating of 4.5/5.0 stars.
EDIT: I forgot to add, it is a pain in the behind to use the power button.
looks like a nice case, maybe would order one so it can take turns with my Otterbox commuter I'll wait for your review
Do you use the sprint car dock? Curious if it fits with the case on. I got the Bestbuy hip case/holder combo and that case doesnt fit the dock with the insert removed.

Well I received my case yesterday... It fits the Mopho nicely however the power button is a slight pain to hit.. If that kernel ever comes out with the slide on capabilities with the four bottom buttons it wouldnt be an issue.. It does NOT fit the car dock but DOES fit nicely in the Best Buy's Platinum Series belt/hip clip and comes in and out of it much easier than the hard case for the Platinum Series. The rest of the buttons seem to work no problem. Just the power one is an issue for me. I may just need to put a little more M A N into it I dunno.. Anyway just wanted to let you all know my experiences so far. Wish I could find one to work in this dang car dock. Nothing does that I can find so far.

Thank you.
My NT is with a friend in US, expecting it in a fortnight. I am ordering this on eBay tonight.
The case seems to fit well, but muffles the sound by a significant level. The skin you can put on it is somewhat cheesy, but hey, the wife liked it. Screen protector is what you'd expect; I had a lot of bubbles applying it, but thats user fail, not the product's fault. For the price I paid, it was great.
I would consider paying more for a case that included some folding prop-up feature. Also, if there's a way to get a case that doesn't muffle the sound quite so much, that too would be great. Other than that, I cant imagine paying more for a regular case.

Tried punching holes in the case around the speaker area?
I haven't, no. But that's not a half-bad suggestion!

I saw a Bundle Monster (a cover, screenguard and a skin) $30 (including shipping to India). I am waiting for my NT to arrive in another two weeks, is it worth buying this accesory set?

I received the same 3pc kit... the only thing I use is the cover. The skin doesn't interest me, nor did the screen guard. (Reports say it blurs and dims things a bit, but make the fingers glide better.)
The cover is quite good. Fits well, closes well, and does make me feel my nook is protected. The knocks against it are the muffled sound (no big deal to me), the upper straps interfering with the power and volume buttons. This one is an issue, for volume anyway, but I just don't use the upper right hand strap (where the volume is) and it still seems to hold tight.
My cover is synthetic leather, and the whole kit and kaboodle was $18 with shipping. The price is fair and I would buy again.
Mine is supposed to be delivered on Tuesday. Bought it at Amazon for 18.99$ free shipping.
I have a cover that I bought in May for my Nook Color that I have now put on my Nook Tablet til I get something with a prop up stand or something like that. It fits better on my NT, and like mentioned above, I just leave the upper right hand strap off so it doesn't interfere with my volume button. Seems to still hold just fine that way. I like it, especially since I only paid $13 on Amazon for it!!
I hate screen protectors.
Just saying.
Ive bought this! I van testify that the case is well worth it and i would pay this price for just the case. It fits easily and nicely but the straps that hold the nook in cover both the power and volume up/down buttons and can sometimes actually press the buttons down. Leather feels nice and the magnet lock works well. I cant testify to the skin because i didnt use it (yet) and as for the screen protector i cant testify either because i already had a screen protector on.
Overall a good deal for the price.
Id recommend it.

Well, I have been in depth testing this case for the past month and a half, spending time with it off the phone and on. For those of you who don't want to read a long review and just want the verdict, here it is: THIS CASE IS AMAZING!!!
I was given the opportunity to review one of the Cruzer Lite TPU cases for our Rezound, and I am in love. I have never used a TPU case before, but I know I will be again in the future. In my review, I will cover 2 main points: Design, and Protection. Please excuse me as I do not have any pictures at this time, as I am traveling and took this opportunity to see how the phone feels without the case.
1. Design:
This case has a very good design. It is very thin, and it has generous cutouts for the power button and headset jack. My only problem with the case so far is that the volume buttons are a little difficult to press. The case feels very good in the hand, and feels much like a hard silicone case. It does not slip, does not attract lint or dust, and fits the phone perfectly. It adds minimal thickness to the phone, and comes in many cool colors. The color that I was given to review is the red version with the little Android logos printed on the back. The case looks and feels very sturdy and durable.
GRADE: 9/10 (Volume buttons can be a bit of a hassle, but you can easily cut that area out with an xacto knife.)
2. Protection:
This case offers serious protection. I would put it on the levels of the Otterbox and Speck series of cases. I constantly drop my phone, and the Cruzer Lite case has always protected the phone from receiving physical damage or damage to the internal parts (I hope ). The case itself also receives little to no damage.
GRADE: 10/10
So, to review:
Design grade: 9/10. Awesome looking case and feels great. Only took off the point because the volume buttons are a bit difficult to press
Protection grade: 10/10. This case offers maximum protection while providing minimal thinness to the device.
TOTAL GRADE: 9.5/10
Solid case. Great price. Great look and feel. Great protection.
I will upload some pictures when I get home from KC on Friday.
Have fun guys
I would agree 100% with this review. I have the same case (different color) and I absolutely love it. Can't beat the value either. My only gripe was the volume buttons much like you said. I cut mine out with an xacto knife and wasnt happy with the outcome so I ordered another case and plan to leave the volume area alone. I have yet to drop my phone (fingers crossed) so I can't vouch for the protection, but everything else about the case is amazing. Great product.
Great review
def awesome cases; i push them with every phone i sell at the store..people love the little android design on them
my daily driver for weeks has been the dark blue with androids on the back. LOVE it. just wish the volume buttons were less of a hassle !

Speaking of new designs, I've got two regular Rezound cases, but I just bought the extended battery, and they don't fit anymore. Any chance you're planning on making extended cases?
nah Joel, but i know matts making an order with you soon

Just checked out the post and saw you were making a new mold for the Gnex. That design looks awesome! I will definitely order one if you make them for the Rezound. Thanks again for the awesome case Joelmic!

JOEL, that is AWESOME! make those for the rezound, and i'm sure we will love them. i'll def buy one to show matt if you do make them for the rezound.
maybe we can work out those volume-button kinks *maybe completely remove them like the power button, with enough room to get your thumb in there to turn it up/down*
Not a big fan of phone cases because I want my phone to be as small as possible..... But I'm very impressed! I could rock one of those for sure! How much?
