Which version of TWRP are you on? If I remember correctly, some of the original versions had a similar problem.

You might be ok without wiping. I have Been fine with it, but some people have had issues. Are you on TWRP 2.8.7.0? Or one of the older versions?

messed up phone

My sister asked me to root her phone and install a custom rom. I have the same virgin mobile optimus v. I rooted with gingerbreak and restarted, and root check said we had root. I used rom tools to install the rom, but now the phone is stuck at the virgin mobile logo and doesn't go any further. I tried going into the recovery but just get a lighted screen.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike

which is suppose the country code is ASEABK @@
I think what the problem is...is that I flashed a old clockwork recovery that doesn't have the new VM670 display drivers...in sense the kernel is for the older VM's...anyway to update the recovery without getting into recovery or consol?

[Q] Help with rooting my HTC DX (going mad)

I have been trying for about a month now to root my HTC DX and have been successful in unlocking bootloader and installing a custom recovery (CWM) but when it comes to installing Superuser zip through CWM and rebooting the superuser app is present but when I verify with root checker it says 'Sorry! This device does not have proper root access.' I've read threads on the forums with people having the same problems and resolving them but it doesn't work for me . Can anyone help me please? It's driving me mad lol.
Try using TWRP if your device is not rooted before rebooting your phone from TWRP it will give you a msg "phone not rooted install superuser" just swipe to install and it might work...

If the @GtrCraft 's file doesn't work, just flash a custom ROM with root included (i.e. this ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330229)... and don't forget to make a nandroid backup before you flash anything.

Hello,
Thanks for using XDA Assist.
You need an unlocked bootloader to flash a custom Kernel. Here's a kernel you can try [KERNEL][D6502/D6503/D6543] AndroPlusKernel v70.

Unfortunately, when I tried it, it doesn't work. It just terminates (bricks) my phone completely. I'm wondering what I did wrong. I admit that I'm still a beginner at this and has a lot to learn.
Edit: I'll tell you the specs of my phone so you can get an idea.
Rooted it with Kingroot (which has SU binary)
Build No. 23.1.A.1.28 (Android 5.0.2)
Model No. D6503

To overlook you need a new kernel as the clockspeeds are in the kernel somewhere.
Can you explain what you have done? What rom your on? Stock? How you flash the kernel? And how you know your bootloader is unlocked?

I followed instructions carefully on the official website. I downgraded (flashed back) my phone into 5.0.2 stock. First, I plug my USB and put the ZIP file on the INTERNAL memory, second, I went into one of my recovery menu (TWRP) and flashed my kernel but when I tried to reboot to system, it just terminates my phone (Unfortunately NFC Services have stopped etc etc.) leaving me into an endless loop until my battery runs out. But fortunately I have a back up.
