Hi,
Friends! I am having a very serious issue with my Xperia Z2 d6502. (never rooted) I recently updated it to official firmware .232 via OTA. Yesterday i realized that my device is not recognizing any headphone (original sony, other brands etc, all are working fine with other phone or laptop). Device is simply not reacting to any headphones, i even tried changing headphone type from sound setting.
I thought its faulty jack, but then I installed SoundAbout.apk and changed phone and media audio output to wired headphones, and then all headphones started to work but even the call tune is routed toward headphone by the app and its sounds perfectly.
Please assist me what is the nature of issue? is it hardware or what?

So I've had this phone now for about a year and everything has been fine. I rooted and installed Omnirom 4.4 about a month after getting it and then switched to SlimKat. I'm on 4.4.2 right now and I've just recently encountered a problem with the music audio. It seems to be distorting the vocals and the bass, but the piano/backing instruments seem fine. If I go into settings and turn it to mono it works fine in the right ear. This is strange because my Turtle Beach PX22 headset comes off its inline amp and can be used on its own 3.5mm AUX input/output. It doesnt work like that however. It works with the inline amp plugged in with a computer USB powering it, but not on its own. Normal headphones do not work properly either, they all suffer the same problem as I explained. Speakers, however, work fine. Anything with a large output (such as AUX in car stereo etc) works fine. Full stereo sound, no distortion on anything. But headphones are a big no-no. Any ideas? I recently installed Boeffla for 4.4 and that might have something to do with it. I have reflashed SlimKat and its update recently. I've also reflashed Boeffla. Any ideas anyone?

I have the exact same problem like you. Tried tons of different roms and kernels and nothing works
Hello friends,
I recently bought an Xperia Z2 Tablet wich I love but there are sound issues I think :
When I plug my Sony headphones + mic everything works great. But when I plug in others headsets with mic such as Xiaomi Piston they are not recognised and sound still comes out from the speakers. (Everything is fine on my computer & Xperia Z then it is not a headphone problem).
I read it had been fixed on a previous update by Sony but I'm on the last one possible : 17.1.1.A.0.402 and it is still buggy.
Is that normal/a known bug ?
Thank you !

I have never experienced problems with headphones, it must be something to do with the new ac jacks, I had an xperia s three years ago with a similar problem, I have to either hold vol up or vol down while connecting the headphone for it to be recognised.... Maybe your solution is something similar
I have tried more headphones with mic & they are now working, even the previous ones which did not are now all ok. But Xiaomi headphones are still not playing the music, may be it will come someday...
I tried to plug with the volume key as you said but nothing happened. Thanks for the reply.
For the ones with the same problem : I used a bit soundabout (find it on play store), may be it triggered something I don't know...
One last thing which I have heard about is plug in your headphones then hold down the power button for a few secs worth a try

Tried it but it's done nothing
That's fine I'll let it just the way it is & plug other headphones instead, thanks again for your help !
For what it's worth, I'm also experiencing problems with this audio jack unique to the noise cancelling headset, the sound will only come from the left ear bud unless you wiggle the headphones inside the audio jack.
I know it's not the same issue you're experiencing but I defiantly think the 5 pin 3.5mm audio jack is to blame.
Since update to marshmallow, the audio jack can't be used anymore. Had similar problem last year but it was quickly solved by mutiple times of plugging in the earphones this time it seems dead.Tried different earphones, no luck. The sound still playing on the phone speakers and not through the earphones. Sometimes a certain earphone would have sound but only on one side. Should i flash previous firmware? im not sure if it was caused by the update or the hardware problem. Phone is not rooted btw. Tried cleaning the audio jack as well. Any help would be appreciated
Hi Moto Experts,
since a few days I have an issue with my moto z.
Phone Speaker and mic are only working when I make a call and switch to loudspeaker.
Besides calling mode they won´t work
I also tried headphone plugged in and then I can hear music or videosound but only on headphone.
Also ring tone works via phone speaker.
I tried to restart phone a few times but without luck.
What can be the problem here?
Also the usb-c plug isn´t working really good as it looses connection if you only move plugged cable a milimeter in wrong way, which shouldn´t be with usb-c.
This problem is there for a long time so accepted it but with mic and speaker not working the phone isn´t really useable
I searched here in moto-z forum but can´t find any similiar problems.
Do you have some troubleshooting ideas?
I've been using my Xperia Z5 for roughly 2 years without problems, but lately I've experienced a rather annoying issue regarding headphone use and the microphone (the one built into the phone, NOT one attached to a headphone):
After using the headphones to for example listen to music, the microphone will stop working, unless the headphones are plugged in. This is regardless of app (I've tested: sound recorder app, Google Assistant and phone call). It doesn't seem to be because the phone thinks the headphones are connected because: (I) it uses the built in microphone when the headphones are connected, (II) the speakers function as normal without headphones.
The only way to fix this, seems to be a reboot. After that the microphone works until headphones are used again.
Sony support suggested resetting the phone, however this didn't help. I've also tried searching both Google and XDA, but haven't found anyone else with the same problem.
The only thing that's changed since the issue started appearing, is that I janked on the connector on my headphone cable, which meant it got a bit loose. This in turn means it can disconnect if the connector or cable is moved in a certain way (though I haven't yet been able to figure out the exact movement or if it's the connector or the cable). I've already ordered a replacement cable.
I think the problem may be related to this disconnect that happens when the headphones are still plugged in. However, after this occurs, it doesn't matter what headphone/set is used, and plugging in a headphone WITH a microphone will function without issues (though disconnecting will still make the built in mic stop working).
