How To Fix SuperFast Battery Draining ? :( - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my xperia z2 is running on android lollipop 5.1.1 w/root+recovery.......i thought upgrading from 5.0 to 5.1.1 will fix it , but i DIDN'T
i use greenify to close all apps in the background but that doesnt help :/
can somebody give me a fix!
thanks

This will depend on how much heavy usage you put on your phone, so for each individual results may vary.
Here are some of my battery saving methods i personally use.
Ampilfy - requires xposed & root
Greenify - on boost mode ( Xposed & Root)
WIFI always scanning in settings is switched off.
Queue Background data is off.
Location off when not in use.
NFC is off.
Auto sync off.
Adaptive Brightness on.
P.S get the better battery stats app, you will be able to monitor whats consuming your battery.
Screenshot shows how much one app like Facebook can be a battery hog.

[Q] Battery issue..pls..pls..help

HI all,
I got some issue here, how to save battery life in gs2??my battery only last in 18 hours without running anything...anybody can help??i check the battery usage and the display use 50-55%...can i reduce it??how.....please advice
Pal..can you say what you need...what 18 hours....

Thank's for reply...is it normal??
if can..i want to extend the battery life..any suggestion for apps??thank's...
If you wanna extend the battery life you should uninstall all apps that can possibly keep the phone awake. more apps needing CPU = less battery life.
also lower the display lighting if you have high battery use of it.

Yes, it's normal
Turning down the brightness will of course help.
Normal seem to be about 12-40 hours. Some apps are badly behaved, others just take a lot of power. It seems there might be a few OS bugs which come and go depending on exactly how you use the phone - some ROMS/kernels seem to help but it is difficult to be specific. Check the BetterBatteryStats thread for some ideas on debugging.
18 hours is decent, it all depends on how you use the phone.
If for 10 hours your phone's screen was on, then ofc this is amazing.

What is your brightness setting? When you are in the battery usage page, click on Display and tell us how many hours the display was on.
You should also check if your phone is on standby mode properly. When you press the awake button and the phone awoken instantly, then you need to restart the phone until it doesn't (e.g. 1-2 second delay is good). I had this problem before and it ate my battery like crazy.
Sleepy cat: my brightness setting is auto & already running for 1hr 38m...since i charge..last night..and the display percentage is 55%...how to reduce it??..
i already reduce my brightness.....
How to reduce battery use by display: Dont use it.
Simply flash the LeoMar75 2.4 RevolutioN Rom. The best rom!!!

I personally found the SolarFlare rom much better compared to many other roms. Have the longest battery life on that.
Use auto brightness, use running services to close what programs/services you don't need(for example I always close skype, yahoo messager, update software, out of milk etc...depends on what you have installed on it and what you don't need ) use static wallpaper and most important charge your phone OFF.

He's right. It's all about programs which are using your mobile data connection.
Thnk's all..really appreciate it...but i have doubt for auto brightness...i read some forum that using the auto is increased the battry usage??is it true??confius...lol..
18 hrs is not normal.....at least for me. stock rom with speedmod kernel.

Battery Performance

Hi Guys,
I am using xperia sola from last twenty days.....:good: but the battery performance is very bad:crying: when i checked my battery usage, analysis came out that more than 50% of battery is getting used by display....so to cut down that i have started using picture wallpaper instead of live wallpaper but to my surprise i came to know that Live wallpaper is running in the background which is still consuming my battery.
Battery is lasting for less than 24 hours.
help me to resolve particular issue.

Task killer won't help, those tasks will come back and make it even worst for the juice they use for initation.
Disable data, or use 2G only (turn 3G back on when you really nead it). Or you can search in this forum the way to do it automatically .
For the live wallpaper issue, just uninstall it
Bright
You should try reducing the bright, Hight bright eats all the phone battery...

Screen brightness is going to be your number one killer. Also, if you're using WiFi/3G/4G all day long that will kill your battery too. Finally, if you're playing games that use a bunch of graphics that utilize your phone's hardware (openGL, unreal engine, etc.) it will drain your battery pretty fast.
I have seen an article somewhere saying that live wallpapers don't actually consume as much battery as people make them out to be, and i found this to be true, i got 5 days out of my Optimus 2X (no sim card inside) and it had a live wallpaper, what consumes the most battery is the screen itself (reduce brightness to get better battery life while using the phone) and data on 3G (i always turn off data when i don't use it) and i normaly get 2 days out of my Optimus 2X (1 day of heavy usage).
Thank you for the info whoever provided here.

Try or start with this app above and hunt for apps that syncing/updating in the background and basically you need to make a dumb phone out of your smartphone. Disable all autosyncs/notifications in the setting and apps like Facebook disable notifications. Open up Google play>settings and uncheck all default checked settings. Disable gmail/email notifications. Disable auto backup/restore. Disable all location services/vibrations/sounds when typing/wifi or GPS or BT when not in use. Disable data or stick with 2g in standby mode. Find a custom ROM that usually will be much better with battery management.
That's in a nutshell of how I can basically keep my phone draining 1% per hour on standby mode.

I highly recommend GO Power Master: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex.gowidget.gopowermaster
It lets you customize power profiles and set "sleep" cycles so that it uses minimal power when you're not using it anyway (I set mine to just be phone/text from 11pm until 7am).
It also has a "smart kill" button on the widget (which you don't have to use) that will prolong battery life by killing apps that are doing nothing. I know there's a lot of argument about app/task killers out there, but it's always worked well for me.
Adjust screen brightness to 0 (dim)
use dark wallpaper
disable gps, bluetooth , wifi when not in use and also air plane mode during night time
and also clear running apps with task manager:good:
Also you could try GSam Battery Monitor Pro, it will show you which process are using %'s of power
Try this one

First, excuse me for my bad english. I'll try to said something and I expect would not to be an offense to you . . . It would to be easy to turn of the phone . . . no?
Of course I have to do something of this things, but If it's necessary to do all of them . . . it would be better to don't have a smartphone . . .

Juice Defender functions only if you have you phone a lot of time inactive . . . It functions turning of your conections in inactivity period and olnly turns it on in few intervals depending of your profile . . . It's very good, but if you want your cell phone conected every time . . . this is not a solution . . .

Deep Sleep Battery Saver

I found this app on playstore and wanted to get feedback from you guys, especially those that bought the pro version.
Is it really THAT effective?
Deep Sleep Battery Saver
Deepsleep battery saver constantly puts the device to deepsleep mode while screen off
Features
☆ 5 pre-defined profiles: Gentle, Balance, Strong, Aggressive, Slumberer. They varies on frequency, duration and other settings. The former is less disruptive, but save less battery and vise versa
☆ Custom profile (PRO) - for advanced users. If you need more customization, select this profile and modify it
☆ Custom profile settings
- Separate between weekday vs weekend settings
- Frequency: device is turned on DS mode at a selected frequency
- Duration: device is woke up after for a selected duration after a each frequency cycle
- Wileless & network: control radio setting during DS on
- Sync: Control sync strategy and sync account, auto-sync
- Apps: Select apps that will be stopped during DS on
- CPU: Process twist - root only
- Night period: During this period, device is always in DS mode
☆ General settings
- Screen off delay: a short delay before DS start. This option is used to avoid quick screen toggles
- Whitelist: Apps are always ignored when DS on, such as online music player
- Ingored recent apps: ignore recent apps
- Use APN settings: twist 3G/4G/mobile data toggler
- Check background data: If selected, it will ignore DS mode if traffic is above a defined threshold
- Traffic threshold & traffic sampling frequency
☆ Tasker plugin, Locale plugin
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rootuninstaller.batrsaver
i personally found DU battery saver more effective..
It was a brilliant battery saver back when I had a S2. but on my Note 2 it's not that effective, simply because Samsung radically improved their sleep management algorithms and it goes too deep sleep almost after turning screen off.
DU battery saver on other hand does nothing special to save battery except for turning off wifi and ... . In my opinion it's completely in different category. I just love the Healthy Charging.
For rooted users nothing works better than Greenify.
You can over come all of that by :
Using greenify (Donate version) allows you to get the Push messages.
Using 3g-2g auto switching software as 2g saves lots of battery.
Using tasker to automate sync periods and duration if you like to receive mails and update your feeds.
By doing so, you can still be online all day long while on 2g-3g connectivity with a good battery backup. And that's what I'm always doing.

i never use any battery saver or anything they called..
here's my tricks;
- i only use greenify (free) for user app, and for unused system app i delete them manually or freeze with titanium backup..
- for 3g-2g auto switching, i'm using this xposed module; [APP] Intelli3G - 2G/3G/4G Toggle and battery saver for stock android, yes it saves your battery..
- uncheck the google account sync, i use it only after first installation of rom, contact and app only..
- instead of adblock/adaway, i'm using firewall to block unnecessary app to connect internet, thank god avast have that feature..
with all that i can use my device up to 30hours+ with 4hours screen time on..
if someone what to add more advice, please write it down..
btw @futchy4u, do you mind to share your automatic sync tasker profile, i might wanna try that one..

But i have seen some people just having great battery usage, perhaps i have installed too many apps lol. Please share your thoughts on more battery saving tips.

Ultimate ways to save the most of your battery juice!

My device - Redmi 3s (land) 2 GB/ 16 GB variant
Hey there. Just want to help you guys in case you suffer from poor battery life. Just follow the steps below to get the most of your battery life without using any 3rd party app or even rooting your Android! Believe me, you will be amazed at the results.
From novice newcomers to ace Android enthusiasts, this is for all.
--------------- APPLIES FOR NON-ROOT + ROOT -------------
My TIPS, non-root and no 3rd party app required.
*Keep your location permission off as much as possible. I mean use only when required using that quick toggle on the QS tile. And then grant that permission only to the apps you really need. Check the permission list and you will find many apps having that permission for absolutely no reason and that counts! I found that the Google app's gonna drain a lot with location on. So I turned off for it as well as the play services! Your preference might vary!
Go to : Settings - Security & Location
*Totally disable the Google Location History for all the Google accounts you have logged in to on your Android. What it does is that it keeps record of your location from time to time in background which results in drain!
Go to : Settings - Security & Location - Location - Google Location History
*Okay Google hotword from ANY SCREEN in the Google app DISABLED! Well, I think I needn't describe. Just keeping it on results in a significant battery drain!
Go to : Google - Settings - Voice - Voice match
*Background sync totally turned off. That quick QS tile for sync is not available in this ROm yet. Don't know why! But that doesn't mean you keep that Auto-sync on. Who needs to refresh every hour! I totally disable to Auto-sync of Google apps. You can see there as well that turning it off saves battery, mate!
Go to : Settings - Users and Accounts - Automatically sync data (In older versions, tap the menu in the right side and turn it off there)
*System animation down to 0.5 for all three options out there in Developer options. Not only this speeds up the whole thing, but also ensures more juice at the cost of less animations!
Go to : Settings - System - Developer Options - Drawing
*Keep your eyes on Bluetooth and WiFi toggles. Ensure that they are OFF WHEN YOU DON'T NEED THEM. SAME WITH DATA AS WELL!
Go to : Nowhere. They are in your notification shade!
*Ensure that WiFi and Bluetooth scanning are turned OFF in the location settings. They will just eat away the battery life.
Go to : Settings - Security & Location - Location - Scanning
*Under display, turn off the screen saver. You'll never need it!
Go to : Settings - Display - Screensaver
*Turn off Ambiant display there as well! We don't have Amoled display on our Land. So it drains our battery! Simple as that.
Go to : Settings - Display - Ambiant Display
*If possible (I am okay with this) turn off Adaptive brightness when you are at home or don't need it to get charged frequently. There is an option to add a quick toggle right next to the brightness bar in the notification shade. I never turn on the adaptive-brightness. It sure helps save some juice as well!
Go to : Settings - Display - Adaptive Brightness
To add that quick toggle on notification shade,
Go to : Settings - Personalization - Quick settings - Turn on both brightness slider and icon.
*Set it to sleep in between 15-30 seconds of inactivity. Cause screen is the biggest water of battery itself. Those tiny changes do count in the final battery life. In case you are reading sth, the Caffeine feature has got your back!
Go to : Settings - Display - Sleep
*Controlling your display brightness manually will really help bro. Just keep it at the bare minimum yet comfortable. In evening, I perfectly fine with brightness level of 7%. Why bother turning on Adaptive-brightness?
Go to : Brightness slider in notification shade.
*Night light. Just set time or leave it as is. Use the QS tile toggle it on or off when required! Choosing sunset to sunrise needs your location and you know what I am referring to next!
Go to : Settings - Display - Night Light
For the quick toggle, press the edit button on your notification shade. Add that from there.
*Screen Orientation. Yup, keep this in check. Never turn on auto-rotate. You don't even need to! What it does that it keeps using sensor to know the device orientation, thus using more battery! You cannot always toggle it on there. But don't keep it on when you don't need!
Go to : Your notification shade.
*Disable or uninstall the apps you don't use! And which apps keep eating your battery on background (i.e Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc), deny them from doing so on the application settings. Toggling off their background usage will enforce them to just do the bare minimum instead of just killing battery adruptly! Do the same with App Data Usage option as well! Deny them from using data in background. You can always open the app to use.
Go to : Settings - Apps and notifications.
*Turn off notifications for the apps you don't need to show up! Accept this. There are many apps on your land, whose notification don't really matter to you! That saves you battery.
Go to : Settings - Apps and notifications.
*Turn off the vibrations everywhere! I have turned off keyboard vibrations. Navigation button vibrations. And have turned off vibrations for the notification of any app. Be it any app, I don't need my land to vibrate for a notification! It sure saves the juice.
Go to : Settings - Sound - Advanced - Vibrate on tap.
Disable app notification vibrations individually.
*Use as less widgets as possible on your launcher! More widgets means more BG activity for information update which ultimately results in battery drain! And yes, don't forget to set a static wallpaper in case you use a live one! Why? You use more energy while running or standing?
Go to : Your app launcher.
*Use CCleaner for cleaning purpose. I recommend it. Cache cleanings is all you need. And please, please never kill apps or use Clean master or apps like that. In the name of RAM cleaning, cooling they kill the running processes. Which never helps actually. When you need the app again, they will consume battery life to launch. Think of repairing a little motherboard with damaged RAM and purchasing a whole new one! Which needs more money?!
Go to : Google Play store - CCleaner
*Turn off weather on Lock screen if you have it turned on. You know why? It needs your location!
Go to : I won't tell. Because it's off by default. If you have it on, then you know it already!
*Use lite versions of the social, shopping or whatever apps you need (i.e. Facebook Lite instead of Facebook, Messenger Lite instead of Messenger, Flipkart Lite). Lite apps need less horsepower, less resources, less storage and ultimately less battery! Those instant apps are handy as well!
*Finally, blocking ads sure saves your data, time and battery. Try AdGuard once you will be amazed!
Go to : www.AdGuard.com
If you want it free, PM me. I can't provide the mod link here. Any mod for that app is for educational purpose.
For YouTube video ads, use this mod-
*YouTube iYTBP mod with MicroG-
https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1RNk38edZgHvNlJ5TN3jkSImox4BJOC2P?usp=sharingno
Uninstall the official YouTube first. You will never need that again!
Then install the modded YouTube, don't open it yet Install MicroG. Then open the modded YouTube and login n enjoy!
That's all mates Never thought that this list was gonna this big. But I just kept writing! Love to help others. Please do all I have told above and the results will be there. One more thing, I've not rooted my phone. I've the 2 GB variant so on rooting, I run out of RAM and the system crawls down! I don't use Greenify. Doze on Oreo is more than good to make me forget that app. Absolute zero drain on sleep! I love Oreo.
Thanks a lot for reading this. Hope it helps! If you like it, give it a thumbs up! I'll appreciate. Any doubt? Just ask below. I will reply ASAP!
Below goes some SS of my SOT with above settings in which Data was on all the time!

If you use it very frequently and need to get all the messages from your friends in time, then you shouldn't. And if you don't need those notifications to hang out there in the notification shade and see the messages only when you want to see them and respond, then you should disable BG activity. ?
In my case, I have it disabled.
For Google, go to the settings - voice - voice match.
There, ensure that "say Ok Google anytime is disabled!
For weather, go to settings - personalization - Lock screen - weather. Ensure that it's off. I asked to turn it off if it has been turned on. It's off by default though.

Are you sure? Please verify all the steps again! My current idle drain is almost 0! I wonder how you manage to drain 20%! Post your idle battery usage screenshot here along with your app battery consumption.

I fear you have a virus! I mean 20% is insane. Yeah! Clean flash it and do all I have suggested. Don't root it. I repeat, don't root. Test battery life unrooted. May be you will find the ultimate reason behind this drain. Back up your WhatsApp on phone. Don't forget to backup your WhatsApp folder in your internal storage on your SD card. After clean flashing, just put the WhatsApp folder back in internal storage. Then install WhatsApp. You won't need internet to restore your backup. As you are clean sweeping your internal storage, ensure you backup all your important things.. ?

Can't calibrate as charging stucks on 99%.Any solution ?

s9+ battery draining

My bat is being drained out quite fast. Android os and kernel together uses about 30% of battery all the time as shown by gsam battery.
Can someone guide me how I could reduce or restrict unused processes.

Disable auto brightness, disable all advanced settings that use sensors, disable notifications of apps that you dont need norifications including system apps, in each app click on battery and disable background running. Freez apps that you dont need and system dont need. Disable smart manager storage options, disable smart manager battery monitor (i use greenify). Use black theme. Disable auto update and "keep mobule data on" on developer settings. Remove google search bar on homescreen, and if you have samsung music widget it keeps musoc on background too. Change wallpaper for non-infinity. Disable iris or fast unlocking. Depend on your kernel, block all wifi, bluetooth and nfc wakelocks. Could be magisk draining too.

No dumb phone here :good:
131 user apps, all system apps excluding freezed (screenshot). Auto-sync on, magisk, xtrememusic mod, viper, substratum with mods and theming. Notifications only on for apps that i need notification, dont need it in adaway, calendar for exemple. WQHD+ resolution, brightness at middle. And many system and user apps greenifyed

When you say they're using 30%, do you mean they're using 30% of the app usage? I.e. in the screenshots the app usage is 60%, in the second the android system/ kernel = ~23% so they're only using 15% which isn't as bad. Also depends on your usage. I.e. system and kernel will be high if your phone is just sitting around all day, will be lower if you're using it and the screen is burning power. Suggest you use it from 100% to <15% then upload some GSAM stats showing the front page, apps, screen and signal pages.
You can do good housekeeping and just remove notification/ location permissions for all the apps that don't need them.
Can also remove some services using ADB commands if you want to although sceptical of how much difference it makes without root
