Ultimate ways to save the most of your battery juice! - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Guides, News, & Discussion

My device - Redmi 3s (land) 2 GB/ 16 GB variant
Hey there. Just want to help you guys in case you suffer from poor battery life. Just follow the steps below to get the most of your battery life without using any 3rd party app or even rooting your Android! Believe me, you will be amazed at the results.
From novice newcomers to ace Android enthusiasts, this is for all.
--------------- APPLIES FOR NON-ROOT + ROOT -------------
My TIPS, non-root and no 3rd party app required.
*Keep your location permission off as much as possible. I mean use only when required using that quick toggle on the QS tile. And then grant that permission only to the apps you really need. Check the permission list and you will find many apps having that permission for absolutely no reason and that counts! I found that the Google app's gonna drain a lot with location on. So I turned off for it as well as the play services! Your preference might vary!
Go to : Settings - Security & Location
*Totally disable the Google Location History for all the Google accounts you have logged in to on your Android. What it does is that it keeps record of your location from time to time in background which results in drain!
Go to : Settings - Security & Location - Location - Google Location History
*Okay Google hotword from ANY SCREEN in the Google app DISABLED! Well, I think I needn't describe. Just keeping it on results in a significant battery drain!
Go to : Google - Settings - Voice - Voice match
*Background sync totally turned off. That quick QS tile for sync is not available in this ROm yet. Don't know why! But that doesn't mean you keep that Auto-sync on. Who needs to refresh every hour! I totally disable to Auto-sync of Google apps. You can see there as well that turning it off saves battery, mate!
Go to : Settings - Users and Accounts - Automatically sync data (In older versions, tap the menu in the right side and turn it off there)
*System animation down to 0.5 for all three options out there in Developer options. Not only this speeds up the whole thing, but also ensures more juice at the cost of less animations!
Go to : Settings - System - Developer Options - Drawing
*Keep your eyes on Bluetooth and WiFi toggles. Ensure that they are OFF WHEN YOU DON'T NEED THEM. SAME WITH DATA AS WELL!
Go to : Nowhere. They are in your notification shade!
*Ensure that WiFi and Bluetooth scanning are turned OFF in the location settings. They will just eat away the battery life.
Go to : Settings - Security & Location - Location - Scanning
*Under display, turn off the screen saver. You'll never need it!
Go to : Settings - Display - Screensaver
*Turn off Ambiant display there as well! We don't have Amoled display on our Land. So it drains our battery! Simple as that.
Go to : Settings - Display - Ambiant Display
*If possible (I am okay with this) turn off Adaptive brightness when you are at home or don't need it to get charged frequently. There is an option to add a quick toggle right next to the brightness bar in the notification shade. I never turn on the adaptive-brightness. It sure helps save some juice as well!
Go to : Settings - Display - Adaptive Brightness
To add that quick toggle on notification shade,
Go to : Settings - Personalization - Quick settings - Turn on both brightness slider and icon.
*Set it to sleep in between 15-30 seconds of inactivity. Cause screen is the biggest water of battery itself. Those tiny changes do count in the final battery life. In case you are reading sth, the Caffeine feature has got your back!
Go to : Settings - Display - Sleep
*Controlling your display brightness manually will really help bro. Just keep it at the bare minimum yet comfortable. In evening, I perfectly fine with brightness level of 7%. Why bother turning on Adaptive-brightness?
Go to : Brightness slider in notification shade.
*Night light. Just set time or leave it as is. Use the QS tile toggle it on or off when required! Choosing sunset to sunrise needs your location and you know what I am referring to next!
Go to : Settings - Display - Night Light
For the quick toggle, press the edit button on your notification shade. Add that from there.
*Screen Orientation. Yup, keep this in check. Never turn on auto-rotate. You don't even need to! What it does that it keeps using sensor to know the device orientation, thus using more battery! You cannot always toggle it on there. But don't keep it on when you don't need!
Go to : Your notification shade.
*Disable or uninstall the apps you don't use! And which apps keep eating your battery on background (i.e Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc), deny them from doing so on the application settings. Toggling off their background usage will enforce them to just do the bare minimum instead of just killing battery adruptly! Do the same with App Data Usage option as well! Deny them from using data in background. You can always open the app to use.
Go to : Settings - Apps and notifications.
*Turn off notifications for the apps you don't need to show up! Accept this. There are many apps on your land, whose notification don't really matter to you! That saves you battery.
Go to : Settings - Apps and notifications.
*Turn off the vibrations everywhere! I have turned off keyboard vibrations. Navigation button vibrations. And have turned off vibrations for the notification of any app. Be it any app, I don't need my land to vibrate for a notification! It sure saves the juice.
Go to : Settings - Sound - Advanced - Vibrate on tap.
Disable app notification vibrations individually.
*Use as less widgets as possible on your launcher! More widgets means more BG activity for information update which ultimately results in battery drain! And yes, don't forget to set a static wallpaper in case you use a live one! Why? You use more energy while running or standing?
Go to : Your app launcher.
*Use CCleaner for cleaning purpose. I recommend it. Cache cleanings is all you need. And please, please never kill apps or use Clean master or apps like that. In the name of RAM cleaning, cooling they kill the running processes. Which never helps actually. When you need the app again, they will consume battery life to launch. Think of repairing a little motherboard with damaged RAM and purchasing a whole new one! Which needs more money?!
Go to : Google Play store - CCleaner
*Turn off weather on Lock screen if you have it turned on. You know why? It needs your location!
Go to : I won't tell. Because it's off by default. If you have it on, then you know it already!
*Use lite versions of the social, shopping or whatever apps you need (i.e. Facebook Lite instead of Facebook, Messenger Lite instead of Messenger, Flipkart Lite). Lite apps need less horsepower, less resources, less storage and ultimately less battery! Those instant apps are handy as well!
*Finally, blocking ads sure saves your data, time and battery. Try AdGuard once you will be amazed!
Go to : www.AdGuard.com
If you want it free, PM me. I can't provide the mod link here. Any mod for that app is for educational purpose.
For YouTube video ads, use this mod-
*YouTube iYTBP mod with MicroG-
https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1RNk38edZgHvNlJ5TN3jkSImox4BJOC2P?usp=sharingno
Uninstall the official YouTube first. You will never need that again!
Then install the modded YouTube, don't open it yet Install MicroG. Then open the modded YouTube and login n enjoy!
That's all mates Never thought that this list was gonna this big. But I just kept writing! Love to help others. Please do all I have told above and the results will be there. One more thing, I've not rooted my phone. I've the 2 GB variant so on rooting, I run out of RAM and the system crawls down! I don't use Greenify. Doze on Oreo is more than good to make me forget that app. Absolute zero drain on sleep! I love Oreo.
Thanks a lot for reading this. Hope it helps! If you like it, give it a thumbs up! I'll appreciate. Any doubt? Just ask below. I will reply ASAP!
Below goes some SS of my SOT with above settings in which Data was on all the time!
[If anyone wants to post it elsewhere, please PM me first and at least mention this thread]

If you use it very frequently and need to get all the messages from your friends in time, then you shouldn't. And if you don't need those notifications to hang out there in the notification shade and see the messages only when you want to see them and respond, then you should disable BG activity. ?
In my case, I have it disabled.
For Google, go to the settings - voice - voice match.
There, ensure that "say Ok Google anytime is disabled!
For weather, go to settings - personalization - Lock screen - weather. Ensure that it's off. I asked to turn it off if it has been turned on. It's off by default though.

Are you sure? Please verify all the steps again! My current idle drain is almost 0! I wonder how you manage to drain 20%! Post your idle battery usage screenshot here along with your app battery consumption.

I fear you have a virus! I mean 20% is insane. Yeah! Clean flash it and do all I have suggested. Don't root it. I repeat, don't root. Test battery life unrooted. May be you will find the ultimate reason behind this drain. Back up your WhatsApp on phone. Don't forget to backup your WhatsApp folder in your internal storage on your SD card. After clean flashing, just put the WhatsApp folder back in internal storage. Then install WhatsApp. You won't need internet to restore your backup. As you are clean sweeping your internal storage, ensure you backup all your important things.. ?

Some quick general questions about preserving battery through out the day.

Hey all, just wanted to post some quick general questions. So first off, I wanted to know if you all use auto-brightness or if you use the brightness widget to adjust the brightness based on ambient light. Second, when it comes to closing out apps from memory, do you only use the recent apps capacitive button, or do you also go into settings>battery and click on all of the available X's to the right of each app to close out the apps that way as well? Just asking these questions as I'm trying to maximize my daily battery life on top of LK kernel. Thanks!

I usually allow Sense to handle the killing of task. I know some thinks it does so very aggressively, but it seems fine to me.
As for brightness, I leave mine set at 50% and call it a day. My phone goes off the charger at 6:30 a.m and goes back on at 4:00pm. I'm usually around 50/55% when I get home to my charger. That's using Twitter religiously as well as Google Now for scheduling appointment. Also checking forums.
One battery saving tip I have for you though is this: Put your phone in Airplane mode if you know you won't be using for a while or if where you are currently doesnt have a very good signal.

Some things I do when Im away from home:
- Don't use autosync (put the sync widget on a home screen and when you want to sync your stuff just press it and it will sync everything once when you need it)
- Use wifi as much as possible
- Keep brightness at a comfortable level but try to keep it around 50% or less. I keep mine at about 25~30%
I use the recent apps button and clear out apps when im done with them (I can't really say if this actually kills the apps or not or how effective it is for saving battery)
Turn off unnecessary syncs. Do you really need facebook to update every 30min? Weather to update every hour? Evernote to update every hour?
Disable those syncs (especially facebook), and I usually see a saving of 20% by the end of day.
Well what I do is, since I have root access, I use juice defender to control my auto sync, CPU speed, usage and brightness. And since I did that my battery is around 20 percent at 10 pm. And I take it off charge at around 6 30 am.

For me: 1) As mentioned, first check those syncs 2) I don't have Facebook installed, if I want to check it, I do thru the browser 3) I use the Power Contol widget, it has the screen brightness toggle. I use it at 0-15% in the evening indoors and morning, 1/3 generally and Auto during the day in my truck. If I'm going to use the internet for a couple hours session, I'll tether to my HP Mini, saves screen time on the phone. At times during the workday and I have no use for the internet nor have any impending emails I absolutely need to receive, I will turn off Mobile data, that alone will save you tons of battery and you will still receive text messages and phone calls. If I'm in a fringe area I will do the same, turn off Mobile data or watch your battery drain right before your eyes. If you use Airplane mode, I'm sure you know you won't be able to text of receive/make calls. GSam Battery Monitor is a good app to monitor your battery usage and what apps are being used. Oh, and yes, I just use the Recent Apps to wipe out apps I'm done with and let Sense handle the rest.
I just used Juice defender to manage my phone. Works well.

Deep Sleep Battery Saver

I found this app on playstore and wanted to get feedback from you guys, especially those that bought the pro version.
Is it really THAT effective?
Deep Sleep Battery Saver
Deepsleep battery saver constantly puts the device to deepsleep mode while screen off
Features
☆ 5 pre-defined profiles: Gentle, Balance, Strong, Aggressive, Slumberer. They varies on frequency, duration and other settings. The former is less disruptive, but save less battery and vise versa
☆ Custom profile (PRO) - for advanced users. If you need more customization, select this profile and modify it
☆ Custom profile settings
- Separate between weekday vs weekend settings
- Frequency: device is turned on DS mode at a selected frequency
- Duration: device is woke up after for a selected duration after a each frequency cycle
- Wileless & network: control radio setting during DS on
- Sync: Control sync strategy and sync account, auto-sync
- Apps: Select apps that will be stopped during DS on
- CPU: Process twist - root only
- Night period: During this period, device is always in DS mode
☆ General settings
- Screen off delay: a short delay before DS start. This option is used to avoid quick screen toggles
- Whitelist: Apps are always ignored when DS on, such as online music player
- Ingored recent apps: ignore recent apps
- Use APN settings: twist 3G/4G/mobile data toggler
- Check background data: If selected, it will ignore DS mode if traffic is above a defined threshold
- Traffic threshold & traffic sampling frequency
☆ Tasker plugin, Locale plugin

i personally found DU battery saver more effective..
It was a brilliant battery saver back when I had a S2. but on my Note 2 it's not that effective, simply because Samsung radically improved their sleep management algorithms and it goes too deep sleep almost after turning screen off.
DU battery saver on other hand does nothing special to save battery except for turning off wifi and ... . In my opinion it's completely in different category. I just love the Healthy Charging.
For rooted users nothing works better than Greenify.
You can over come all of that by :
Using greenify (Donate version) allows you to get the Push messages.
Using 3g-2g auto switching software as 2g saves lots of battery.
Using tasker to automate sync periods and duration if you like to receive mails and update your feeds.
By doing so, you can still be online all day long while on 2g-3g connectivity with a good battery backup. And that's what I'm always doing.

i never use any battery saver or anything they called..
here's my tricks;
- i only use greenify (free) for user app, and for unused system app i delete them manually or freeze with titanium backup..
- for 3g-2g auto switching, i'm using this xposed module; [APP] Intelli3G - 2G/3G/4G Toggle and battery saver for stock android, yes it saves your battery..
- uncheck the google account sync, i use it only after first installation of rom, contact and app only..
- instead of adblock/adaway, i'm using firewall to block unnecessary app to connect internet, thank god avast have that feature..
with all that i can use my device up to 30hours+ with 4hours screen time on..
if someone what to add more advice, please write it down..
btw @futchy4u, do you mind to share your automatic sync tasker profile, i might wanna try that one..

hotdroid, thanks for your detailed reply and i would love if you can give some more advice as its always helpful. Currently i am on DN3 and i do get around 3.5-4 hours screen on with wifi on all the time and 2G sometimes. But i have seen some people just having great battery usage, perhaps i have installed too many apps lol. Please share your thoughts on more battery saving tips.

How To Fix SuperFast Battery Draining ? :(

my xperia z2 is running on android lollipop 5.1.1 w/root+recovery.......i thought upgrading from 5.0 to 5.1.1 will fix it , but i DIDN'T
i use greenify to close all apps in the background but that doesnt help :/
can somebody give me a fix!
thanks
This will depend on how much heavy usage you put on your phone, so for each individual results may vary.
Here are some of my battery saving methods i personally use.
Ampilfy - requires xposed & root
Greenify - on boost mode ( Xposed & Root)
WIFI always scanning in settings is switched off.
Queue Background data is off.
Location off when not in use.
NFC is off.
Auto sync off.
Adaptive Brightness on.
P.S get the better battery stats app, you will be able to monitor whats consuming your battery.
Screenshot shows how much one app like Facebook can be a battery hog.

s9+ battery draining

My bat is being drained out quite fast. Android os and kernel together uses about 30% of battery all the time as shown by gsam battery.
Can someone guide me how I could reduce or restrict unused processes.

Disable auto brightness, disable all advanced settings that use sensors, disable notifications of apps that you dont need norifications including system apps, in each app click on battery and disable background running. Freez apps that you dont need and system dont need. Disable smart manager storage options, disable smart manager battery monitor (i use greenify). Use black theme. Disable auto update and "keep mobule data on" on developer settings. Remove google search bar on homescreen, and if you have samsung music widget it keeps musoc on background too. Change wallpaper for non-infinity. Disable iris or fast unlocking. Depend on your kernel, block all wifi, bluetooth and nfc wakelocks. Could be magisk draining too.

When you say they're using 30%, do you mean they're using 30% of the app usage? I.e. in the screenshots the app usage is 60%, in the second the android system/ kernel = ~23% so they're only using 15% which isn't as bad. Also depends on your usage. I.e. system and kernel will be high if your phone is just sitting around all day, will be lower if you're using it and the screen is burning power. Suggest you use it from 100% to <15% then upload some GSAM stats showing the front page, apps, screen and signal pages.
You can do good housekeeping and just remove notification/ location permissions for all the apps that don't need them.
Can also remove some services using ADB commands if you want to although sceptical of how much difference it makes without root

Xiaomi Mi 9
Battery life saving tips
- Discussion -
Presenting a few tips based off personal experience that can help squeeze out those extra few minutes/hours of battery life from our device.
Please note:
This is not a science and what works for some may not work for others. There are many factors involved in having good battery life and one person’s 1 SOT (screen on time) may mean completely different usage to another’s. For example, 1 hour of internet browsing will of course be less battery-intensive than 1 hour of processor-hungry gaming. So bear this in mind…
I am running the weekly Xiaomi.EU rom (9.4.11 at the time of posting) and so some of these settings/features may not be available on other versions of MIUI.
Some of the below will require. Some users prefer not (or can’t for whichever reason) to root and so you’ll just have to skip those if so.
Lastly, this thread is intended on being a work in progress and I welcome comments/suggestions/additions on the content. These are the settings that I adhere to which I believe, as well as most users, which are useful to aid battery life. Some tips may help out significantly, some may just offer a slight increase. Some may not even help at all and may just be placebo!
If something doesn’t work for you or you greatly disagree, let’s discuss it…
Network settings + roaming
There are various settings which are known to help out with the notorious Cell Standby drain etc. such as:
Preferred network type (found either by Settings – SIM cards & mobile networks – Sim Card Settings - Preferred network type OR by dialling *#*#4636#*#* via your phone app). Users in the EU find that setting the network type to GSM/WCDMA/LTE or WCDMA/LTE (on both sims) can help stop the device look for network frequencies that it’ll never find, such as the TD-SCDMA etc. You can Google what frequencies your network provider uses which can help you decide.
VoLTE (Settings – SIM cards & mobile networks) – there may be some debate over this one, but it can be said by having VoLTE enabled, whilst calls will be clearer, it will use 4G which is that bit more power hungry. Therefore some testing may be preferred if you’re a frequent caller. I personally have this on without and haven’t tested it fully, but I’m also not a huge caller.
Make calls using WLAN (Settings – SIM cards & mobile networks) – by using WiFi for calls this should be more battery efficient than using mobile network data.
Data roaming (Settings – SIM cards & mobile networks) – I tend to keep Overseas data roaming off when I’m in my home country with the thought that it prevents the device from looking for networks it won’t find. As for National roaming, I have this kept off too normally as I don’t travel around much generally, so again to prevent it searching for alternative networks when it already has a strong signal.
System settings
Here we have several system settings/features that may be used on a day-to-day basis but may not be needed to be enabled at all times. Generally speaking, having something turned on all the time yields benefits for convenience but at the cost of battery life, as seen below.
Wifi / Bluetooth – both of these can be regarded as similar, in the sense that by having it enabled all the time it can connect automatically without your input. For example, if I leave my WiFi on when I leave my home it’ll automatically reconnect when I come back. Great! However, throughout the entire day if it doesn’t find a known network it will constantly be looking for one, draining battery. Not so great. Therefore if the convenience of not having to turn your WiFi on/off is your preference, then leave it enabled. Though if you know you’re not going to be connected to a network, then some manual control may be preferred. The same rules apply for Bluetooth devices.
WiFi & Bluetooth Scanning (Settings – Additional Settings – Privacy – Location – Scanning) – this can be a big drain I have found and is usually activated when you have High Accuracy location mode activated. Again, it comes with its benefits of providing higher accuracy, but with some battery cost. By disabling both WLAN and Bluetooth scanning, extra battery life can be saved. There are some apps I’ve found that force you to enabled High Accuracy mode, so just remember to switch off these scanning settings once again if so.
GPS & location accuracy (Settings – Additional Settings – Privacy – Location – Location mode) – I personally don’t mind just using Device only and keeping this on all the time. As whilst like with Bluetooth as mentioned above, if I know I’m not connect to my Bluetooth speaker for example, I at least like to open Google Maps and it find me straight away rather than toggling GPS on etc. Personal preference of course, as with all of these…
NFC (Settings – More) – as with WiFi and Bluetooth settings, if you’re not using it and don’t mind the manual toggling on/off as needed, then disable and do just that.
Hotspot (Settings – Portable Hotspot) – as above really, as this could be a big drainer if left on. Luckily there is a setting (Turn off hotspot automatically) which can help with this.
Display
A massively subjective aspect of using your device and only you know what you’d rather have and what you;d rather be looking at. Just as we know, a higher brightness level will result in high battery drain and the screen can be the biggest drainer of the all, so choose wisely if you’re trying to conserve some juice.
Screen brightness (Settings – Display – Brightness level) – I personally have it set to manually controlled, as I find the auto-brightness not to be very smooth, at around 20-30% indoors and perhaps up to 100% outdoors. I believe that manually controlling brightness preserves battery as it of course doesn’t use the ambient sensor and brightness remains the same, rather than jumping up and down reacting to light levels.
Ambient display (Settings – Display – Ambient display) – functionality of having the ‘always on display’, but at the cost of some battery life. There is the scheduling that you can use to help with this, but personal preference whether you want this on or not. I personally don’t, though at times I’m tempted to given the notification light, for me, isn’t that practical.
Contrast and colours (Settings – Display –Contrast & colours) – it can be said that Standard will be the most battery friendly, Increased Contrast drawing that bit more power due to the increase in contrast and Automatic Contrast using the most given it will use the sensor to optimise contrast based off available light. I personally have it on Increased contrast and I’m happy enough.
Double tap/raise to wake (Settings – Display – System) – with both of these sensors will be used for the convenience of tapping your screen and raising your phone in order to wake the device. This may be handy, but be mindful that such convenience will come at the cost of the sensors running using up some battery.
Themes
Another subjective aspect of your device is you can make it look. The suggestion here is for black themes to be applied where possible as on our screens black images use less power, as noted by Google. Though indeed black theming isn't for everyone so this suggestion, as with all of them, is purely up to you.
Night mode (Settings - Additional settings - Developer options - Night Mode) - enable night mode (Always on) to turn on MIUI system-wide black/dark theme, such as the dialer etc. *If you don't know how to activate Developer options, see here
Substratum and Swift Black - I highly recommend using this theme with the help of Substratum, though indeed only available to rooted users. Be sure to follow all the required steps to get Substratum working, such as installing the Magisk module etc.
Battery & Performance
Here are the various system battery settings which aim to preserve battery. Some perhaps more useful than others!
Adaptive Battery (Settings – Battery & Performance – Use Adaptive Battery) – this claims to limit battery for apps that you don’t use often, which I have enabled, though as will be seen below some further manual control can be done.
Battery saver / background app restrictions (Settings – Battery & Performance – App Battery Saver – Choose apps) – here you can select per-app a choice of 4 background restriction settings. It’s time consuming, but it’s worth going through each app (note: use the 3 dots in the top right corner to Show system apps) and choose the restriction settings, if any, to be applied. Generally speaking, if you want notifications to come through from it (like WhatsApp) or you don’t want it being shut down in the background (like Spotify) then choose No restrictions. If you’re not so bothered about it and want the system to lay down the law on battery saving, choose Restrict background activity. There are settings in-between, like Battery Saver and Restrict background apps, but I’ll leave you to play around with those ones.
Battery Optimization (Settings – Battery & Performance) - this has several options to save battery ranging from adjusting screen brightness, turning on Battery Saver, turning off GPS etc. This can be used however I prefer to manually configure the settings, so this will be up to you…
Scenes (Settings – Battery & Performance) – here is a ‘smart scene’ called sleep mode which apparently will detect when you’re sleeping and close down apps, restrict NFC etc. I personally have this disabled as again I manually adjust such settings
Auto-start (Settings – Manage apps - *select app* - Autostart) – another useful option is to go through each app you have and disable the autostart, which could provide additional battery savings preventing apps from starting up in the background
Debloating / removing system apps
Lots of system resources can be freed up which can result in added performance and battery life. See the extremely helpful thread by @SirTAVARES who created the Debloat Applications (No-Root) thread.
I personally have used the above guide to remove a lot of pre-included apps, even on the somewhat pre-debloated Xiaomi.eu rom. Without root you can use ADB to remove apps and they won't reappear when you update your rom. They will appear back if you perform a factory reset, as they are not fully uninstalled.
Furthermore, with root you can remove the app from not only the user area but system area too. Check out the thread for more info on this.
Lastly, apps like System App Remover Pro can fully uninstall system apps, with the option to use the Recycle Bin option should you wish to restore
Battery draining apps and alternatives
It can be said that some apps are notorious for being big battery drainers, such as the official Facebook app. I’m not a huge user of some of the other apps, like Snapchat, Twitter etc. and to be honest I generally favour webpage versions of some things for example I don’t have the Amazon shopping app, I just use the web page version, saved as a bookmark on my home screen. The general tip here is if you are going to use an app, be sure to go through its settings and adjust notification settings/frequency. For example, I do have the Sky News app however set it to not notify me of news, the same for Yahoo weather. So tweak accordingly. If you have some good alternative app suggestions then I’ll be happy to include some here, but for now I’ll just start with…
Facebook – I use Folio for Facebook & Messenger which is a nice lightweight 'Facebook wrapper' in that it uses the Facebook webpage as the basis for the app. It also has a functional messenger included so no need for a separate app.
Battery monitoring apps - apps like GSam Battery Monitor and BetterBatteryStats can be useful in detecting the high draining apps, so could be worth using one of those in an effort to identify them.
Magisk modules
There are many Magisk modules out there which aim to solve battery. I only use one, which I’ll list below, however please feel free to make suggestions for inclusion in this section. I know that there are some like Greenify, Amplify (when using Xposed) etc. that could squeeze even more juice out of the device!
Universal GMS Doze - helps put Google Play Services to sleep to save some battery. I use this with no issues/impact on Gmail, Play Store etc.
Other system settings
Sync (Settings – Sync) – as with per app settings for notifications/sync frequency etc. settings, it’s worth checking here to see what apps are auto-syncing data. You can turn them all off (I believe) via the Auto-sync data toggle, or check them out individually via this menu setting. *Note: I have removed Mi Cloud etc. and so I don’t have any of that running in the background, but that’s up to you.
Vibration (Settings – Sound & Vibration) – now this is likely a very small potential for some battery savings but still worth noting. You can adjust the Vibrate on tap option ranging from Off/Light/Medium/Strong, which I’m sure someone who has it set to Strong will be using that tiny bit more power than someone who has it set to Off. Your call….
Permissions (Settings - Permissions - Permissions) - it's worth going through here to monitor per-app what permissions are being used. Some apps may not like being prevented using certain things and it may break some functionality, but it's an extra method in reducing potential usage, such as hardware usage, for an extra saving. For example, an app may try and use GPS each and every time you open it or even try running it in the background. If you're willing to, preventing it from doing so may help save some battery.
Authorization & revocation (Settings - Additional settings - Authorization & revocation) - here you can revoke some access from apps. I have stuff like Security, Downloads, Battery and performance and Settings listed here, all of which I've revoked with no noticeable negative consequences.
Fingerprint icon (Settings - Lock screen & password - Manage fingerprints) - another very small tweak for a potential very small saving. The setting is Show fingerprint icon when the screen is off (which is present on Xiaomi.eu 9.4.11) and by disabling will prevent the icon showing. As the icon is displayed by the screen, by turning it off it'll naturally save the power it takes to light the screen up, which as you may have noticed, it lights up with the tiniest movement of the device! I keep it on as I like it and battery doesn't seem to be greatly impacted - but this thread is about squeezing as much juice as possible, right?!
Recents and 'Clear all' - not a system setting but a little thing to do, is to open up the Recents menu and use the 'X' button to close all running apps, or swipe individual to close certain ones from running in the background. Now, it is the case the apps stored in the RAM aren't necessarily using battery, but this is still useful to stop apps that are running and active. Definitely a debatable one, as the argument against doing this is that it then uses battery to reopen the app, so perhaps just test it out and see for yourself.
Last but not least....
Now this last little tip of mine is certainly one that can be debated, but I do it nonetheless...
Remember, none of this is advice as such, it's just what I do to keep myself sane in knowing/believing (philosophical debate here?!) that I've done all I can to maximise battery life.
What I like to do is when installing a rom have the phone charged to 100% before doing so. This originates from the days of believing that batteries need to be calibrated. There is definitely lots of research that states it may not be needed and a simple Google search can reveal research into this, but it's something I like to do anyway.
So essentially my method regarding this, needed or not, is:
Charge phone to 100%
Update rom
Use phone until it switches off at 0%
Charge phone fully to 100% without interruption
I'm not stating this is needed, it's just what I do. Take it or leave it! I'm aware that there is science behind not allowing phone batteries to die at 0% in order to prolong the life of it, but again, it's just what I do and it works for me.
Your call!
That is it for now. As mentioned I highly welcome your comments and suggestions for adding to this thread so please do let me know if any questions etc.I'm purposefully not showing my SOT/battery stats as they won't be useful to anyone - the above tips are here for that!

As it as been say, the performance would be pretty different from different user (wifi, Bluetooth usage, nfc, ect) . I can give you an example, I done almost all optimization that has been given in the thread. I have Bluetooth activated all the time cause of my amazfit cor.
If I'm at home an only use wifi and if I often use my phone with 25 % brightness I can have 10 hours sot. But in real life use, with bad mobile network, usage of mobile data, phone call, screen at 100 % on outdoor use, I can only have 4h30 of sot.
Dépend of the usage and what you done with the phone. Personally, if I have a smartphone, it's to use use it. If you desactivaye all network, keep battery saver, keep your screen at 20 %, buy a Nokia 3310 ?

From what you said, it's seem to be good for standby draining. As I normally use the phone when I have the break from 9am to 6pm only 2 hrs screen on, My current phone battery are lower than 40% in the evening.

You can add it to the home screen as a shortcut:
Long press empty space on home screen - add widget - shortcut activities (drag that to home screen) - Settings - Battery and Performance (PowerUsageSummary)
Then you'll have a shortcut to this battery info screen
10hrs39mins, best yet! On WiFi all day just light chrome/xda/reddit etc.
This is on latest RevolutionOS rom
Has somebody noticed that email apps (like bluemail, gmail...) make the phone never sleep totally ?
I often have 15 hours "held awake" in my gsam battery stats! [emoji33].
If I kill the email apps then my phone sleeps MUCH, better.
I tried several mail apps..same result.
Is it because of Android 9 or Xiaomi?
On my other devices (Android 7 and 8) I don't have this problem with the same apps...
