Error 495 while updating / downloading apps? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good Day XDA community!
May I ask for your help regarding this frustratingly odd error that has been plaguing my Android device?
Does anyone know the probable cause why an error 495 pops up whenever I try to update or download an app? I'm currently using a stock Android L 5.1.1 device with the latest updates installed.
I tried the following steps to resolve the issue but to no avail:
- Cleared the Cache, Data and uninstalled updates of Google Play Store
- Cleared Cache and Data of Download Manager
- Tried installing an app from PC (Play Store accessed in browser)
- Removed and re-added my Google Account.
- Factory Reset (thrice already!)
Can someone help me? All my other devices (1 Android L 5.0 and 1 Android 5.1) can download and update apps flawlessly from Google Play Store. They are all on the same Wi-Fi network.
Thank you!

SGPT111GB/S - after official update google play wont oen

My friends owns a SGPT111GB/S he recently applied the latest update when it appeared in the notification area. He's a normal end user, tablet hasnt been rooted or any custom firmware loaded onto it.
4.0.3 (Release A)
2.6.39.4
TISU0R0030110
There is now a problem where he cannot open "google play" it is very odd as the icon for "google play" is the old style android market icon and it even says "market". As soon as you attempt to open it the app closes with no visible error.
I've tried the following
1) Reset Factory Config
2) Reset Factory config with wiping USB drive option
3) Finding google play APK from android authority and installing that replacing the "market" app
Anyone have any suggestions or where I can download the previous firmware from as Sony's site only shows latest available.
Cheers

Try clearing that data / cache for the app. Under app info. The old market has to update to google play the first time but it shoul have just updated with the update. Other than that factory reset and start again.

i remember seeing similar issues in the Woot discussion thread. someone provided the official solution by Sony: http :// www .kb.sony .com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&externalId=C1029387&fes=true
seems that uninstalling the update once will help?
Oops, links not allowed yet for me.... please remove those weird spaces....
Have tried clearing the app data but no luck.
The KB you linked doesnt quite apply to me as google play isnt installed after the firmware update.

[Q] unknown error -504 during install

I have an issue installing Tripadvisor on my phone. I own a HTC M9 running ARHD10 (android 5.1, 2.27.401.1) which was clean installed. I need help installing this app; i tried everything I could think of; deleting cache and data for google play store and play services and download manager, i tried to install outside the google play store by downloading the apk, i tried to sideload with adb, through my titanium backup, through amazon marketplace, tried to install the tablet version of the app etc etc
i have reinstalled my entire phone from scratch 3x but no TRipadvisor.
The error I receive is "unknown error code during installation -504"
What else could I try ? any ideas ?
Anybody with the same problems ? A solution perhaps?
No solution but same unknown error here. I'm on Nexus 5 and android M Dev preview 2. It happens at the end of the Google Chrome app download while installing onto the device.
Clean everything I can but no luck so far.

No google related apps after factory reset on Oneplus one.

Hello
I have rooted my phone a while ago and I updated to the latest cyanogenmod 13.0 and started getting a pop up message "unfortunately google play services has stopped working" every second and a message that i needed to update google play services (but i wasn't able to open the playstore). Because of that i just factory reset my phone (settings>back up & reset>factory data reset) and after the reboot my phone didn't have any google apps, nothing. Under settings>accounts>add account. there was no option to set a new google account.
I tried downloading the google play 6.0 apk and didn't work, i installed it but it wont open. I mean it doesn't even give me a loading screen, it just closes right after i open it.
Could anyone help me to fix this and how to do it in detail?
Do i need to install gapps? if so how should i do that?
cyanogenmod version: 13.0-20151125 NIGHTLY-bacon
Android version: 6.0

stock firmware makes google services go crazy

hi !
I just updated my firmware with an official samsung
G925FXXU3COI9_G925FOXX3COJ1_G925FXXU3COI9_HOME.tar
both are android 5.1.1.
I also installed TWRP, SuperSU and Alex V kernel 1.2
then I installed gapps (latest I tried is open_gapps-arm64-5.1-aroma-20151210) wipe dalvik & cache
but whatever I do I get the following message :
"unknown issue with google play services" pop-upped by Google Music and gmail. I uninstalled both app and when I reinstall them from Play store the message is back.
I don't know what I did wrong. can someone help me please?
ThanX
