The fingerprint scanner is lightning fast!! - Nexus 6P General

The Iphone has the fastest scanner from my personal experiences... but after looking at this video I was blown away. Again this is the 5X but i'm guessing our 6P will be equal or even faster than the 5X

Overall the same

Same or faster, I'm impressed especially since the 6s is instantaneous! Just hope the 6p is just as good.

It will be. Huawei was already known for very fast fingerprint scanners.
Vid skips right to the point where the reviewer shows off the Mate S fingerprint reader.

I'd bet good money Google is using Qualcomm's new fingerprint tech and that the two phones are using a sensor or Google's choice not theirs.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

My work 5S is incredibly fast at reading my fingerprint. My S6E does a miserable job at it. Usually reads after the 3rd time if I don't get forced into the backup password.
I think one of the reasons the iPhone sensor works so well is the size. I'd like to think with the larger circle on the new Nexus devices that it would have a greater surface area to match off of than the smaller sensor on the Samsung devices.

Looking at the 5x and 6p they don't appear to be using optical sensors either. They appear to be using the ultrasonic sensors Qualcomm was talking about that could work through plastic metal and glass.

In this order:
Development, Processor, Resolution, Price
I came from the fantastic Acer a500, so it had to be a damn good device.
screen res, nexus status. if a new N7 was out with a higher res screen, I would have gotten that. but this was a work purchase, and the fiscal year is ending so I needed to buy now it's an upgrade from my galaxy tab 10.1.
edit: not a reason why i purchased, but the front speakers are impressive, at least compared to my old tab.
Development,screen, front speakers, design
I had a Nexus 7 at the time, and prior to that, a Galaxy Tab.
- I wanted to try a larger tablet
- The specs were pretty awesome
- Rear-facing camera (found it a real pain that my N7 didn't have one)
- Screen resolution
- Front-facing speakers
- Nexus
Was kind of concerned with the pace of development at first. Seems alright now I suppose :good:
Still kind of interested in trying out a Windows tablet for some specific games though...

Why did you make this thread? For post count?
Will you make future threads based on the same criteria or do you care more about spamming the forums?
In other words, did you search before making this thread?
It's a nexus and has soo many pixels. I like pixels. It was most certainly NOT because it has a rear facing camera.
Screen and specs, android, knew it would have a strong development community supporting it, specs will make it decent for a couple years, I travel for work and need something to check email daily, laptop too heavy, etc. And it's a fun toy.
Hdmi, Development, 10".

the screen, the processor, nexus device, that black on black.
why
Have the Nexus 4 already.
Came from a Tablet S and was a bit disappointed in the updates or lack thereof as well as the shell design. Thought it was cool for about a week.
Top reasons:
Standard android
Screen
speakers
My experience so far is excellent with no complaints. It's much faster, better screen, better speakers, better wifi (much). I like some of the Sony apps like Music Unlimited but I can just download them if I want them.
I don't think I will ever buy another non-nexus device for cell or tablet. Price is right and updates are swift.
What made you choose Tablet S ?
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app
tablet s
Thought it was a bit different at the time. Bought it back in 2011 when it first came out. Kind of bought into the whole it's easier to hold thing with the wide grip on the one side. Also the first to have the remote IR feature (which I never used hardly). I had the X10, Sony Arc and then the Xperia S so was just keeping it in the family so to speak. Still think the Sony UI is very intuitive compared to the Samsung, LG and Htc overlays.
I chose the Nexus 10 because it was the successor to the Motorola Xoom. Stock Android with updates direct from Google. That's what mattered. There was no other choice.
Winning it in the favorite things sweepstakes mostly

Discussion Nexus 5 and LG G2

With the announcement of the LG2 i must say it looks like a very nice device sporting 2.3ghz quadcore. I hope that doesn't make the 3000 mAh battery seem pointless with its 5.2 inch display.
I'm just curious though, does anyone of you believe that the Nexus 5 will be based off of the recently revealed LG G2? I find that devices looks great, and while i do understand that some people don't want to move up to 5.2 inch screen, i must say i'm more or less ready to make the move. In the past i could not for one second imagine myself using a 5.2+ inch screen, but recently i just find it makes the browsing, texting and reading a MUCH greater experience.
anyways, what do you guys think?
I hope the next Nexus is made by LG and based of the G2.

The number is screen size. Since new Nexus tablet is still a 7 inch device it was called Nexus 7.
If next Nexus phone comes with a 5 inch screen it so be most likely called Nexus 5.

Yes, of course, that was clear; I was just pointing out that there is also no clear indication of any guideline, so it's all speculative.
I watched the whole thing too and it does look like a great phone but I don't know if I want a 5.2" display phone might be a little big. I don't own a n4 but I do like how it feels on the hand and not too big. Also I wonder how that battery will hold up after seeing all the great battery life everyone gets with the n4 I'm debating whether to wait for the next nexus or get the n4 next month

With how Qualcomm is handling the situation with AOSP i hope the next Nexus is NOT made from the G2.
The Nexus 5 will be based off the G2. Sadly it will be sexier and more of a beast than the Nexus 4....I really wanted to keep my Nexus 4 for 2 years but damn the Nexus 5 looks like it will violently b!tch slap any other phone on planet earth.
Mad props to LG. To take a beautiful, sexy device like the Nexus 4 and follow it up with a device that clearly trumps it in looks, aesthetic, performance....everyone will be blown away and hooked on the Nexus all over again...

Considering how many issues Google has had with Qualcomm when it comes to releasing factory images of devices running Qualcomm chips, I hope it'd use a different SoC.

Really what's the alternative?
Qualcomm has a lock on SoC's at the moment and for the forseeable future. I mean really who else is there? Intel?
Development wise everyone is behind Qualcomm. Not by just a little either. The Snapdragon 800 that powers the G2 will more than likely go untested or unmatched by any competitor SoC until NEXT year....The 800 is a big deal as far as SoC's go.
I'm not sure of this beef Qualcomm has with Google. Don't know much about that.

Samsung's Exynos? Nope.
The main reason most Exynos powered devices don't have official CM support is because Samsung doesn't release their images. Infact I don't think you can find one Exynos powered device officially supported by AOSP.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 pro powers my N4 and I rather like it. Can somebody explain this mysterious problem between Qualcomm and AOSP? Doesn't make sense
It isnt that much bigger than the nexus 4.
Nexus 4 is 133.9 x 68.7 x 9.1mm
LG G2 is 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9mm
Slightly taller by 5 mm, wider by 2mm but slightly thinner.
Also not sure of the power lock button on the back. You could just put your phone on the table and the phone will be turned on. Also getting cases will be odd. I hope they use the normal buttons on the side.

Best Feature to buy Samsung Galaxy Note 7

What is the best selling point that you feel very convincing for you to buy?
Let us discuss here... Poll your best reasons.
Even as a long time Note User (Note3-Note5) I liked the s7 Edge's design enough to lose my s pen to switch over to it. Now that the Note7 is here, I'm ready to jump back into the S Pen....
To answer your question the "glance" feature (yes I know its just software and available on note5 with custom rom) but that is just so incredible. I can't wait to use that for multitasking.
Also, the iris scanner combined with password entry and hiding apps just because you aren't the one looking at the phone is pretty tight!

Ext sd card support.

I would agree that if you have an S7 edge and dont need the Spen not much point in buying one.
But for those who dont have an S7 edge and are in the market for a new device (like myself) the fact that the note is a copy is quite irrelevant.

I am trying to look at the bigger picture here and consider any customer in the market but if I like the device $400 is not a problem for me either. These manufacturers have broken our balls with such small upgrades and even after so many years we still don't have a perfect device. They hold back on hardware upgrades on purpose just so that users can have another reason next year to buy the new flagship. It is annoying. I still am convinced that the S7 Edge is Samsung's best phone this year. Performance wise and battery wise.

OK that's fine
Other than the battery complaint of not being able to have extra batteries. I had to buy a external battery pack, the battery last maybe 4 to 5 hours with heavy usage. It's a Ravpower model RP-PB052 (22000mAh).
So far no big issues other than the battery not being replaceable!
takes great photos!
Runs faster than my note5.
Funny, when we could get root and find unlimited themes etc.
Now Verizon sells everything is alacart now, bummer!
Hoping my experience will be good. Was going to switch to the Apple 7 plus, except I didn't have the 500+ you up front. Where the galaxy I had a month to come up with 299! Seeing samsung went to the non-replaceable battery, figured I should switch over to Apple, maybe next renewal I will, save up the money to do so.
Seeing Samsung went to the same as Apple!
I do love the note7 except the battery snafu!
Hope everyone likes their note 7

We all know synthetic benchmarks mean nothing. In real life usage, it's just another locked down, boring ass iPhone that costs twice as much as the average Android phone, and has half the features.

The Ford GT is pretty good.

LCD screen is pretty good. Even though its 720p you can't actually tell but I do wish it was 1080p.
I personally prefer LCD over amoled, just feels better to touch and premium.

After having an iPhone 7 + and the Note 7, I personally prefer the AMOLED, but I prefer my backgrounds black, and to use minimal colors for the power savings of the AMOLED. But the 7+ display is really really good for an LCD, so much so that the black really looks black compared to what I am use to LCD displays looking like. The 1080 actually doesn't bother me one bit. iOS more so. Miss a few things from Android. Colors on the AMOLED always look a bit more vibrant, but the iPhone is no slouch either. And yes, the iPhone feels fast as h3ll. Actually even the 150 Moto G 4th Gen that I got from Amazon feels faster than the Note 7 in day to day use.

How the hell does a LCD feel different touch wise than an amoled? Do you even know what your talking about? You feel the glass you cant feel liquid crystal displays. People that are smart don't bother with these conversations. Good Lord.
