SdCard0 (internal storage) problem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok,
My S2 is running on CM 11 (kitkat). I have been using this ROM for almost 6 months without any issue but today I encountered a really persistent and annoying problem which probably is not ROM related.
After I tried to open my poker app which I use daily the phone suddenly restarted itself. I did not know why and I did not pay much attention to it till I opened the poker game and I noticed my profile picture was not showing in this game. When I tried browsing to my gallery using the games browser I got the error their is no external storage available.
So I exited the game and went directly through the app drawer to my Gallery app and I got the same error. I really got suspicious and so I tried to open the camera app which gives me 'unfortunately camera has stopped'.
When I open my file browser and try to directly read SdCard0 (my internal storage) nothing appears in it. This makes me think the internal storage is not mounted at boot so I rebooted in recovery mode.
While in CWM recovery I head into the storage section and tried mounting storage/sdcard0 I was returned with an error. It says 'mounting error'.
Since there is no more info given I assume my internal storage partition got corrupted or damaged because of an unknown reason since I was just trying to start my poker game app when the phone suddenly rebooted. The problem is that it contains about 50 photos which I would like to move to my Google Drive. I do this at the end of every month so now I still have photos on my internal storage since my last backup and which I hopefully can still recover by repairing the partition so I can mount it again and backup those photos.
The problem is, how to repair or recover a partition that has become corrupted or broken without wiping the files that are still on it? Anyone has an idea?
Thanks

[Q] Can't Unmount Internal Storage?

I have had an intermittent (and now present) problem on 1.26, 1.57 and now 1.83 (with and without my gladiatrix p-ROM).
I cannot get the internal phone storage to unmount(!) I have tried the usual method with "USB Connection/USB Mass Storage" - the external card unmounts but the internal does not - and the internal storage cycles between "unavailable" to the amount of storage free about every 30 seconds. All the drivers are properly installed.
I've tried "Unmount the internal phone storage" from within settings/SD Card... - a message says it is unmounting but it never does.
I've done multiple reboots (this used to help but doesn't anymore).
When I change the USB connection to "Motorola Phone Portal" or "Windows Media Sync" - they are both seemingly able to access the internal phone storage and all drivers install successfully.
My real goal is both to backup the internal phone storage but also to use Documents To Go (for which synchronization seems to get harder and worse with every new version) which can only access the internal phone storage.
Something seems corrupted - does anyone have a similar problem or any suggestions?
I know this thread is super old, sorry about that, but I have this same issue and it just started today. Anyone have a solution for this?
I started this thread and went back to a clean 183 cwm and that didn't help. Given the rarity of the problem I'm beginning to think hardware more than software?
I had this problem too and what I did was to reboot my atrix and as soon as it would let me in the options to unmount I did and it let me...then I reformatted it .

I tried automount and another market app i found called SD mount (or something like that) and neither worked for me. I can easily mount the external SD but the internal SD/storage remains inaccessible except using root explorer on the phone itself. Maybe I'll finally RSD to the 2.3.4 release (I'm on a themed 1.83 right now) and this will go away, but I'm beginning to think it won't.
I bit the bullet, unlocked the bootloader, installed the pudding 1.83 then upgraded to a GB based build. Right after the SBF load the internal storage would unmount fine. Definitely some sort of odd corruption that is not hardware related. I don't know if this helps anyone else with this problem since an SBF and a clean rebuild is a PITA.

Help with Market/Google Play on newly updated tablet

Hi guys, hope someone can help me, I have 2 problems stopping me from installing 75% of the apps I want on my tablet which I just updated to it's official JellyBean ROM. No one else has reported this problem with this tablet/ROM so I hope someone knows the solution.
1) with around 50% of the apps (paid for and free) I get the error "Couldn't Install on the USB storage or SD card" (see screenshot)
2) a lot of apps (Chrome for example) say they are not compatible, yet they were fine in ICS and they are fine on my JellyBean phone.
Number 2 I've seen before and been able to add an android.hardware.location.gps.xml file in to system/etc/permissions and it's work, but it's not working this time.
Number 1 has me really stumped, searching the net finds the problems on all sorts of devices and there's 2 solutions, neither of which work, one is to unmount the SD card and install, then remount it - I've unmounted & removed the card, but nothing (I have 16Gb internal memory too). The other solution is to delete any files called "smdl2tmp1" of which I have none.
Now I've tried wiping the cache etc, re-installing the ROM, doing factory resets etc but nothing is helping. I have also noticed that my internal memory isn't getting wiped each time and I cannot find how to wipe it.
The tablet has CWM recovery built in but it's in chinese, but I know my way around it.
I have noticed that if I install and load up Astro file manager it lists my storage options as this (click for screenshot)
Local Storage 1 (USB) - I have nothing plugged in to the slot
Local Storage 2 tries to point to external SD card even when it's unmounted or not even in (this still appears if I have nothing plugged in on boot too)
Local Storage 3 is my internal memory
Local Storage 1 & 2 allow me to open them but there's nothing in there and I cannot add folders etc (no errors, it just doesn't do it)
Please can anyone offer advice?
My tablet is pretty useless with hardly any apps installed on it.
can anyone help?

My i777 stopped recognizing internal memory.

I've been running MIUI V5 for some weeks now, and two days ago I tried taking a picture when all of a sudden the camera didn't open and showed an error saying something like "Internal memory not found" or something. I tried going into the Gallery and there's only pictures from my external SD card but nothing from the pictures I've taken or anything that was inside the phone's memory. I checked Google Music and the music I've downloaded from my Library isn't there neither. Apps keep running normal, but even my Root Explorer app can't find the phone's Internal memory. I tried going into recovery and couldn't wipe it either, it said "Can't mount emmc". I even tried to Odin flash stock 4.0.3 but still the same thing. What can I do to fix this?

Internal Storage Full After Factory Reset

Hi,
I have a Huawei Ascend G6 (U10) and rooted my device with TowelRoot 3.0
When you get a new phone it's custom to first fully charge your device and then let it fully deplete before fully charging it again to make sure you use the full capability of your device's battery. (during this time I rooted my device) Now, while it was at only 3% of battery I was playing a silly game, called Can KnockDown 3. While playing this game, my device turned off due to no battery. After it fully charged again, I tried to run the game again but it got stuck on the initialisation screen.
No big deal, I thought. So, I went on and just un-installed it and tried to re-install it. Problem is, I got Google Play error 492 when I tried to download/install the game once more. So I restarted my device, tried to un-install the Play Store and tried a hard reboot. None of those worked.
After some reading I got to know that I had to install an app called "ROM manager", boot into Recovery Mode and delete the Dalvik Cache (Which was said to be located in "Settings". Now, I don't know much about phones, nor Android. So that proved quite difficult. I went into Recovery Mode but was unable to find the "Settings" tab. So, I wiped Cache and the other setting. Can't quite remember. When I rebooted it, the problem was STILL not solved.
Now, I never noticed the REAL problem because I had my external SD card mounted.
This morning, I wanted to change my profile picture on an app called What's App Messenger. It gave me the following error: "Failed to load image data, please try again later." That really bothered me and after a reboot the problem was still not solved. I quickly realised that all my pictures were on my external SD so I turned off my phone to take it out. Booted it without external SD. Tried to make a picture with my camera, but it said "Internal Sotrage full. Please insert an SD card." but when I went to my filemanager there was NOTING on my internal SD. No maps, nothing. However, in my settings it says that only 1.98 GB of the 4 GGB internal storage is used...
Could someone please help me with this?
try using DiskUsage app, it shows every folder in your phone and how much space they take, also if you have rooted your phone, it shows wich system folders take most of the space (logs and tmp folders, safe to erase)

I appreciate your reply, but I don't think that's the problem. I think my internal SD card is f***ed up now. I've tried wiping it all I want but to no avail. Probably something went wrong with rooting it, or installing ClockWorkMod or something. I don't know.
What I do know is that I need help!
Have you found a solution

[Q] Camera doesn't work - SD card problem? HELP!

My camera doesn't work anymore. Only a text box pops up which says "Camera" has been shut off (roughly translated form German).
Then I installed the google camera App from the PlayStore which at least opens and shows the live view through the camera on the display. So it's not (completely) a hardware problem. But there's an error message above the release button which says "insert SD Card" (again roughly translated). The SD Card Error message also appears of I want to start the Gallery App (it's the standard app where the pictures/Photos are stored).
Possible Complication:
I might have done some deep damage to the system beforehand, for which the not running camera is just a symptom:
A couple of days ago I installed CM11 (M9) and did more than the usual FullWipe. I went into CWM 6.0.5.0 and formatted anything I could find without knowing what I did, like /System, /sdcard0, etc (I know, it's stupid). I might even got some error messages (don't remember exactly). However, I could install M9 afterwards but the problems with the camera and gallery since then.
Then I repeated everything, formatted even more, like, sdcard0 in different formats as vfat (didn't work), then ext2/ext4...almost all of those. I tried different external SD cards, too, formatted them in ext4, later in Fat32. It seemed in one install that SDcard0 and SDcard1 got mixes up by the installer.
Then I also played a bit with the root rights. All those combination didn'T repair the cam. So here I am asking for your help.
Edit: godlessfather from the CyanogenMod-IRC solved it for me - I formatted my internal sd-card in ext4 which caused the issues. Now that I formatted it on vfat and made a clean install, it's all good. kudos to him!
Hi
I'm a newbie and installing a custom ROM first time. I have the same issue. Can you tell me the steps to format internal-sd card in vfat?
Thanks
