So I recently unrooted my zenfone c, and my phone was behaving wierd (wifi connected but no internet, default file browser of phone shows nothing inside: absolute blank, connects to PC but doesn't show in my computer, tells camera does not exist...) and so I decided to flash the stock rom again, I downloaded the stock rom from asus, and the flash tool from the net. Now when I follow the instructions say ..............here->............(asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=14894&extra=page%3D1%26filter%3Dtypeid%26typeid%3D231), the following error comes up in the flash tool while pressing the start button
!- I did not use the rom specified in the above linked page, but downloaded seperately from asus website. what may be the problem... I am new so can't post screen shots from links, so here is just the link ...........plus.google.com/photos/107799030761055081656/albums/6209484049893645089/6209484057280146242?pid=6209484057280146242&oid=107799030761055081656............
I was also thinking about using sideload from ADB, but given the error, I think the file(stock rom) has some problem... and the other one is that I don't know where my ADB exists, amidst about a 2Million folders, I am on vista, so you can think how does the search work, if any one can help me regarding this that would be great. I don't know much about android studio yet, and I uninstalled eclipse IDE from my PC, that is why I am having problem finding ADB folder.
Also I am new here (at XDA) so please forgive my first time errors like wrong forums and such
Thank You To everyone in advance
EDIT; I was doing some search and research on my side, and found out that the ROM I had downloaded from the ASUS update server was incompatible(I don't know why perhaps some safety measure), so I went with the ROM provided by the person whose post from zentalk is referred to in the above link. And that worked out quiet fine except for downloading as my internet connection is too slow. The only thing that changed is all and everything was wiped out from my device, but thankfully I had a backup. Also the ROM that worked was the initial release and I had to update the phone using OTA.
I'll keep this thread open so that maybe someone might find it helpful and perhaps someone may state the true reason behind the error.

I've got the same problem but I can't download the ROM file. My internet speed is very slow and it speed estimates 8 hours for downloading but ends up abruptly due to some network error. Hence i'm unable to download big files.
Can you give a torrent link for WW-ZC451CG-4.11.40.124-Rel-User-20150703-181118.raw file???

Hi, I want to root a cubot x9. Could you recommend me the apps that I can use, for root by telephone, and from pc? I'd rather to root my phone by phone without using the pc. Thanks.
Did you have any luck figuring out how to root this phone?
You can see it in this forum:
http://www.movilesdualsim.com/tema/root-y-twrp-recovery-mds-cubot-x9-twrp-recovery-2-7-1-0.91238/
Actually, after a bit of googling I found this tutorial on getting TWRP onto any Mediatek phone, which includes links to various tools for rooting (and is also in English )
Are there any different roms out there for the Cubot X9 besides the stock?

Note that this appears to be just a stock ROM mildly modified to work better in Spain. And on top of that, it appears to be based on an old version of the official ROM (v7 - it's up to v9 now according to the "official" thread on NeedRoms, but I have no idea what the source is for the official ones on NeedRoms, I can't find anything on the Cubot page)
And just a follow-up - I'm guessing the "official" roms on NeedRom are via the OTA updates.

If anybody in future is looking to root the X9, feel free to inbox me. I'm going to write up a tutorial on it, but until that's ready, I can give pointers on how to go about it. For a start, none of the one-click root options work, the only way I was able to root it was to do the no-root CWM install, and then root from CWM.

Has anyone rooted after doing a OTA update?

You can root it with Kingo ROOT.
I have tried it and it worked.
I've successfully rooted it with iRoot

What's the worst that can happen ?
I've tried iRoot. This will automatically install the 'Secure Search' program (and more!) in your browser which is very difficult to remove. Therefore iRoot is definitely a no go for me!
I recommend "kingroot" not kingo root. I used kingo but was having trouble with lucky patcher working properly. When I used kingRoot it worked like a charm.

Root cubot x9-TWRP recovery
Here is a quite simple guide to root your cubot x9 and install TWRP recovery. I have tested myself and it works fine!
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON YOUR PHONE! DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
What you will need: A cubot x9 (Yeap I know...dont be shocked)
A PC running Windows (This method has been tested on win7 and win10)
A USB cable
Ten minutes from your life and some magic files that I will post at the end of the post.
*IMPORTANT* : Because I am a new member on the XDA community I cannot post any external websites so I cant post any files *sorry * . To find the files that I am referring too just google needrom . com and login in in this website search for cubot x9 and you will find all these files over there *OR* you can just send me a PM and I will reply with the links of the files.
(1):First of all before we start rooting we need to make sure that we have the correct drivers on our Window PC. Simple open the Control Panel go to Device Manager. Then turn off your phone and plug it in your computer. If you see for a moment a device with the name "PreLoader USB VCOM Port" the you have the correct drivers (clap*clap). If anything else appears you need to download the correct drivers. Just download the "All MTK USB Driver 2014.rar" file and unzip it. The re-plug your phone(turned off!) to your PC and when the device shows it self quickly right-click on it and choose update drivers. Then choose update through your computer and choose the folder you just unziped and press OK. Wait a while and *boom* you have your drivers. Before you continue check again if the drivers are correct ( if the "PreLoader USB VCOM Port" shows on Device manager). If not repeat this step.
Now lets root our phone like there is no tomorrow !
(2): Download and unzip the "SP Flash Tool 5.1343.01.rar" and "RECOVERY CUBOT X9 (MDS TWRP Recovery 2.7.1.0.). Rar". Then download the "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip" file. Turn on your phone and copy paste the "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip" file on your phone sorage(as a zip!). After that unplug your phone and turn it off. Go to the SP FLASH TOOL folder you unziped and run the flash_tool application. You press OK on the first window that pops up and then you choose on your right Scatter-loading. Browse your PC and choose the "MT6592_Android_scatter CUBOT X9.txt" which is inside the recovery folder that you unziped on the beginning of this step. Press ok. Then on your left you go to options->option->download and make sure to tick the box which says DA DL All with Checksum. Close that window and find and choose "Download only" and then click download(see the image on the end). After that the application is ready and it looks for our phone.
And now here is the tricky part. Right now our program is ready and searching for our phone. If we have the correct drivers and connect our turned off cubot the program will install the TWRP recovery in a few seconds. If everything went good a green circle will popup. After we see the green circle we have to go fast and press simultaneous the volume+ and power button on our phone till we see the CUBOT sigh. If we were a little too late the recovery will be lost and the phone will boot normally on stock. If this happens repeat the step (2) again.
(3): (Do you feel it? Root is near!) If everything went as planned right now you are on the TWRP recovery. Simply press install and find the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip you saved on your phone storage before. You choose it and the you "swipe to install". After the installation finishes reboot your phone. After some magic your phone is now rooted!!!
After the reboot if you ever want to run on the recovery simple turn off your phone plug it on the power and press volume+ and power simultaneous.
Please hit thanks button
for root i have used Kingo ROOT

Hi everyone,
I appear to have soft bricked my Redmi 2 and am having a lot of trouble recovering the device.
I was attempting to flash from CM11S to MIUI7 and was following these steps:
“wipe data/factory reset”
“wipe cache partition”
Go to advanced and “wipe dalvik cache” and “wipe battery stats”
Go to mounts and storage and “format system”
The go to “install zip from sdcard> choose zip from sdcard” and select the ROM file you want to install.
In case, the developer has recommended to install GApps too, you should install it just after flashing the ROM (use Step 5).
When it is installed, reboot the device.
However, during the process I received the following message:
"This package is for HM2014811 devices; this is a HM2014813"
After a bit of searching I realised that this meant that I had a Chinese version of the phone and was trying to install the global ROM. As such I downloaded the Chinese ROM and turned the power off to the Redmi 2 so that I could put the Chinese ROM on the SD Card (the phone was no longer being recognised by Win7, so this was my only option). However, when I now try to reboot the phone I cannot access the CMW recovery menu. I simply get stuck on the linux penguin logo. And trying any combination of pressing power and the volume down button, or power and the volume up button just results in the phone rebooting. Additionally, Windows is not able to recognise the phone.
If anyone could provide some guidance here I'd be incredibly grateful. Hopefully I'm not looking at a full brick here!
You have backup of rom?
I'm not certain. I'm using a different SD card to the one that I originally used to install CM11S if that makes a difference.
no....I meant u still have the cm rom backup u used to install in the first place?
Unfortunately, I don't seem to still have it on my PC.

Many guides on xda or google is my friend
Struggling a little bit here due to my lack of knowledge I'm afraid. I've managed to located what I think are the Qualcomm drivers and QFIL. Unfortunately, my redmi is now only showing in device manager as "android device" and then "android bootloader interface". Consequently, I don't seem to be able to install the qualcomm drivers. Then in QFIL no port is available, so everything there comes to a dead end.
If anyone has any thoughts it would be really appreciated.
press Volume down and power button at the same time then maybe you will see : “ENTRY QPST DOWNLOAD" ... **~MAYBE ~**
Note : I don't have much experience / no experience with Qualcomm devices , so the above text is copied from a forum
but you can try it no harm in trying ?
Hi there , I have a Oneplus x. It had been remote wiped but still has some strange difficult software. Posted this problem to the Oneplus Forum but have had no response, thought XDA would be more qualified!
From what I can tell it's a Oneplus x with the software on the phone with a high-security version of Android. It's called EncroChat and from their website (encrochat.network or encrochatsure.com) it looks like it removes the recovery from the phone and replaces it with an EncroChat OS (some kind of Cyanogen) that you can boot to in addition to the Android OS.
Well I assume during the remote wipe something went wrong with the software and the phone no longer really functions. It boots up fine but can't connect to Wifi, cellular, not detected when connected to my PC, and has no real apps to speak of. I think most of the device's drivers are missing. Trying to boot to recovery instead boots to their EncroChat OS which is locked behind a password (wich I have) but anyway you can do nothing in it.(no wip, no factory reset)
I can get to fastboot and my PC will detect the phone then but running the bootloader unlock command doesn't work, the phone just reboots into the locked EncroChat OS. My idea now is to try and hardbrick the phone and then re-do everything on the phone over again, but I can't figure out how to do that. Does anyone else have any ideas?
If the bootloader is locked, you wouldn't be able to flash a custom recovery. But there's a special recovery software for Snapdragon chipsets, I'll look up for the link and LYK

1. hold the 'power'+'volumeUP' buttons until you get into recovery mode
2. once in recovery mode, go to and select 'Reboot to bootloader'
3. when the 'Fastboot mode' message appears at the bottom of the screen, plug in the USB-A male to male cable to the PC
4. if you have your device manager open, you will notice that it is recognized as 'Android Phone'/'Android Sooner Single ADB Interface"
i tried rooting with three different 'one-click root' pc applications: iRoot(v1.8.8), Kingoroot(v1.5.0), and King Root(v3.5)
these are the results i got:
-iRoot: it connects but the message reads 'Not support mode'
-Kingroot: it detects the device and trys to connect but gets stuck in a loop trying to connect
-Kingoroot: this detects the device as 'HTC Device'. i click the 'Root' button and it trys to root, but it only gets to 19% and then it fails
i'm theorizing that maybe if i get some different drivers for the pc or maybe making sure that the 'one-click root' applications are the latest versions might help. i dont know, we'll see.
again this is for the RCA RCT6303W87M7 running Android 6.0.

I have not rooted anything without a how-to. Prehaps someplace there is a how-to to do this but this is what makes sense to me:
My New Motivation:
At this point my issue is that the unit has not had any updates including security since i purchased it. I really expect more and it's to the point where I feel it might actually be more secure rooted than not.
Originally
I just searched , saw it could not be rooted easily and was like whatever.
Ideas about how to get started
Get the adb tools working and using those get as much information from the prompt as possible without root and share it all.
If factory ROM images are around or can be backed up from device then prehaps a disassembly of the ROM images and examination of settings files will reveal any interrupt hooks for getting root that are as of yet undiscovered.
Gleaning any information from online sources .. prehaps a tear down of the unit, we need to find the most similar models to this model family.
See if there is any information available from the OEM. Determine who did the Android build. ....
What do you think?

This post is an EXPERT-LEVEL Post.
I am NOT RESPONSIBLE for what you do to your device.
Please not that I am still working on a solution to this brick.
Hello XDA-Developers,
I recently got my hands on a Meizu M3 note and, of course, wanted the newest - nougat - firmware on it. It seems I accidently flashed a incompatible (or currupted) Update (flashed an A Firmware on a G version phone). Sadly it broke down and showed only vertical stripes on it's display.
Image here: https://ibb.co/cpGunm
After some hours research I found some information on how to reflash the M3 note via SP Flash Tool here and here. Since the first tutorial is for the M3 and M3s and the second tutorial is for the M model of the device (I've got the L model) there are some changes needed for it to somehow magically work.
I exchanged files provided (such as preloader.bin, lk.bin etc) with the matching ones from the latest Official Global Firmware from Meizu. Just extracted them out of the update.zip. (Don't forget to select the Authentication File!)
Image here: https://ibb.co/k3zYDR
Short flashing tutorial: make sure your device is turned off and disconneced then click "Download" and connect your device via USB. Don't worry if it now shows an error like "Download DA Failed", just dismiss the error and click "Download" again. It should flash the device now.
Sadly it is not possible to flash the boot.img provided in the latest official update.zip from Meizu (you'll get an security mismatch error). BUT the boot-verified.img provided by the chinese archive is flashable and is accepted by the device. The device is now in a bootloop, fastboot is accessible via holding Vol - and Power, but no recovery access via Vol+ and Power
The files seem to be repaired now but the display still shows these stripes - I think the firmware actually fried something on the display chipset. I bought a replacement screen and then will update this thread as soon as possible. If you have any Ideas of how to unbrick the device feel free to discuss.
Update 18.11.2017
Thanks to @ncristian !
I did as he suggested, downloaded and flashed the files from the russian forum here (if you do not speak russian and want to get straight to the point: Direct Download Link)
I still have the stripes on my screen but the device booted up successfully and got recognized again by my computer! While booting up I could see the stripes changing their color slightly as the bootanimation of flyme was playing. I guess I will have to replace the screen to make the display error go away... I will update this post as soon as I did so
Update 10.11.2018
Sadly I never actually exchanged the screen, I'm running a Pro 7 Plus as a daily driver now and I'm loving it
Update 19.05.2019
I have attached the boot-verified.img as someone requested it
I had the same problem and I solved thanks to this: https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=739028&st=24480#entry65580668 and Google Translate; I downloaded the .zip, installed drivers, launched the flash tool and flashed files contained in the folder L691H (Remember to install drivers and disable antivirus or it will not work). Then I downloaded FlyMe 6.1.0.0G, went into recovery with vol up + power, copied the update.zip into the device "Recovery" and flashed it; the only problem I had is that the phone charged but he didn't recognize the battery level; by reflashing the files contained in the 4pda .zip, the battery level went up (obviously, after leaving the phone charging for about an hour).
Someone please help my meizu m3 note bricked after flashing flyme 7.8 beta.

Try reflashing via the original recovery, that might be your easiest solution. If that doesn't work you might try your luck with something like SP flash tool

First of all, thank you mate I successfully downloaded the boot verified. But still it didn't turned on. Just no power but recognized by the sp tool. I'm starting to think that downloaded again the wrong firmware. I also found out that their are two main board(or whatever is that). So this global firmware can be flashed in the both L and M series. I'm wondering what firmware you used to flash. Again, thank you in advance ^_^
