Anyone else leaving for a new Nexus? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 General

I am leaving the Note 3 behind for a Nexus 6p. Honestly, the phone is still is excellent condition as I kept good care of it. I could easily use this phone with no issues for quite some time if I wanted too. I am just so sick of how the Samsung and Verizon lock this phone down. I really miss AOSP and the pure android feel. I miss having a **** load of custom roms and other things to fiddle with. I miss having kernels to flash and getting updates in a timely fashion. I am 100% going to miss this phone, especially the stylus. I use it to do stupid drawings a other poor photo shopped photos to mess with my friends.
So as of now I am expecting a 64gb graphite 6P Nov 10-12th. It's been a fun run Note 3 peeps.

LG v10 for me. Removable battery and SD card. Also checkout the freebies..
http://www.phonearena.com/news/LG-V...roSD-card-at-Verizon-and-T-Mobile-too_id75111

Same as well! 64 gb aluminum for Nov. 10-12
Edit: Google is delivering earlier than expected :sly: I'm getting it by the 3rd

I absolutely love my Note 3, but I've moved to MetroPCS and am no longer required to have a locked down phone. So as soon as I am able to, I am getting a Nexus 6P. I'm a little hesitant of Huawei, after having their Ascend model like 5 years ago. But all reviews I see say it is an amazing phone. We shall see!

just bought mine 128 gb graphite shipping on nov 12th, cant wait to unlock and root phone before note 3 was razr hd, miss having unlocked bootloader

64gb Frost for me.

Everything is better than gnex except physical home button
Especially better battery life and screen quality.

My gs3 will be here on monday, can't wait!
And I remember when everyone wanted the Nexus cause it was pure Android.
Seems like "Pure Android" is no longer the priority?
I'm exchanging my gnex for a gs3 at best buy. The 21st will actually be my 29th day of their 30 day exchange policy, I got lucky.lol I do like the gnex, but it only having internal memory kind of sucks, plus I feel the gs3 is a step up from gnex with the exception of it being supported directly by google. I'm getting the 16gb pb plus a 64gb memory card... can't wait to toy with this device it looks sick with the new TW. I don't think I'll miss the AOSP interface so much.

Im giving my gnex to my mom who was going to buy her first Android device next week. I have already pre ordered a 16gb pebble blue model and my 64gb san disk just arrived today from Amazon.
I seriously can't wait for the sgs3 to drop. I actually miss TW. Coming from a fascinate, charge and captivate i kinda got used to it. If team gummy can get there hands on a couple devices it's a huge plus. They made my Droid charge 10X better.

Yea I miss the little features with TW, like swipe to call or message. I read somewhere that the creator of CM worked with Samsung to design the new TW. Im pysched to mess with the tap features as well as the physical interaction of the phone with TW, like face down to silence call, tap to top, swipe for screen capture, and whatever else is new with it.
Edit: Im coming from an og Epic.... that's why I'm used to TW

Week Until Release

Well 7 days as of Thanksgiving until this phone hits VZW customers pockets. I am really starting to get excited. Seems like its been such a long wait. This is going to be my phone for years to come. I am going to be investing alot into this phone. What are your thoughts on the Galaxy Note II right now?

I just hope I don't fail one of my lab finals next Thur
Seriously, I can't wait. All these people saying they are getting 12hrs of heavy usage makes me ecstatic. I have been wondering if there is a use case for the media dock for me personally. I already have a pretty nice desktop. I think for my Dad would be perfect. His laptop needs to be replaced and he needs something with a big screen. Maybe just grab a generic touchscreen monitor and the media dock for him.

"This is going to be my phone for years to come" made me lol...I give it 6mo before the s4 or something else drops and you will be moving on. Although its getting to a point where upgrading is not a huge improvement anymore. I really dont think its going to have a huge WOW factor over the S3, but I must admit I still want one lol...mainly because I initally wanted the note but it never made it to VZW so I settled for the S3.
I'm excited too, but can't upgrade for another month. Doubt I'll be satisfied for "years" though. Android has come a long way since I bought my thunderbolt and I'm sure I'll feel that again in two years.
You never know maybe Q4 next year we'll have octocore phones lol
Maybe we should get some sort of count down timer. I've been waiting since the original Note for Verizon to get in the game.
Props to the person that puts the countdown on Verizon's homepage.

I hope the DNA fails miserably so Verizon feels our pain. I think that they will realize their error when they get mobbed by all of us next week. I have been waiting for a note on Verizon forever. Just a heads up, if you go to wirefly, it is 280.00

I'm getting 36+ hours with 7 hours screen on time on LTE. I haven't had to turn off LTE once. The Note 2 blows away the GS3 in every way. TW on JB seems like an improvement over the stock N7 experience.

Verizon delayed it for so long it almost feels obsolete already with new phones like Nexus 4 out and new ones probably coming out around Christmas time. On top of that, they crapped on the home button.

If you are going pick a phone that makes the Note 2 feel almost obsolete, I wouldn't go with the Nexus 4 (Android iPhone 5 without LTE?).
I can't wait to retire my Thunderbolt. Done with all the problems with this phone. Oh, and the crazy delayed updates.
I think until something else of a similar size comes out (Note 3?) This phone will keep me plenty happy.
It certainly has the hardware to run the Android OS for a long time to come.
Note 3 should be expected in about a year.

Not worried until the Note 3 comes out or until HTC and Motorola make a phablet with a S-Pen like device. The S4 could be released tomorrow and I would still pick the Note 2 unless Samsung start putting S-Pens in all devices.
I think i'll be set till the note 3 comes out or an equivalent device boasting a larger screen size. I would like to see a 6 inch phone since I don't have infant hands like the rest of you.

This. After playing with the Note II for an extended period of time at Best Buy today, I truly believe it's a really different experience from regular smartphones, especially after using the S-Pen. That hover feature on the S-Pen is not only incredibly cool, but also super useful (for previews, information pop-ups, etc). And I can see myself taking notes with S-Note and using its Knowledge Search feature often.
Oh, and I was with my brother and his gf as I was showing this phone off to them, and I think I converted her from being an iPhone fanboy to an Android fanboy by the end of my Note II demonstration. :highfive:
I was at the mall today for my third look at the Note II. The Sprint and ATT stores both have them out. I have one on preorder from Verizon, but can't get over the size. Tried it in my pocket (again!) and fooled around with the S-pen apps and really do like this phone a lot. I've decided I want a very thin cover that will give me a better grip when I have it in one hand, and a stylus that is larger that I can keep in my shirt pocket. I was going back and forth with the NoteII, DNA, or wait until summer, but the s-pen is a great feature that is unique to the Note's.

[Rumor] Lgog Pro in May!

LGOG's big brother is coming out really soon! Anyone plan on getting?
I was tempted, but 5.5 inches is just too large for me, even if I needed a new tablet-like device. Then again, I thought the OG was large for a phone when I got it.
That huge battery though...
I like my OG like I like my beer: Liquid Smooth!
I got the Optimus only because of its similarity with nexus 4. I'll pass on the lgog pro.
Sent from my Optimexus.
Damn thing seems so good.
But I am afraid it might lack in its popularity in terms of development.
I am a Korean and OG Pro has been a great success. A lot of people actually prefer buying OG Pro over waiting for SG4!
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda premium
I am waiting for it to drop next Friday so I can check it out in person then decide which phone I am getting. Leaning towards to OG Pro for the size, internal storage and overall features. The S4 is nice, but no 32GB yet, and reports of lag due to TW UX. I like Samsung and have not used an LG Android phone yet so I have no experience with updates.
Now I see the OG shipped in November 2012, and got JB 4.1.2 in March so that is promising, and does that mean the OG Pro would see 4.2.x in say September or such time frame? Before the GN3 arrive for another "push" in sales.

Well I paid retail so if in 5-6 months GN3 looks hot I can use my upgrade and get it, but for now the OG Pro will do for me. The GN3 would have to be really better in all respects, RAM, storage (usable STORAGE) and come with 32GB or more of usable storage.
I like Samsung but given how much stuff they are loading into their devices and the way the internal storage is being used up I have concerns, BUT, I still like their hardware. I hope the GN3 is a Snap Dragon 800 processor.

Gonna stick with the LGOG. The OGP is a little too big, it won't fit in a pocket. I feel like id drop too easily, I'm also suspicious about support for the device, like the post above me says. The OG is perfect. I can't wait till A new version of android so I can get my hands on a ROM

As mentioned by someone else, it never hit me that we only have ROMs because LGOG is so similar to Nexus4. We shall see what the Note 3 has to offer i guess. Thanks for your feedback guys
decided to never own a samsung device again.
lgogp seems like a solid device. cant wait to get the shipping email tomorrow!
I'm thinking about getting the pro as well, but am concerned at the amount of devs to support it. I might hold out to see if it picks up any traction

Just so torn between the newer devices and I have little hope that the holy trifecta of build/updates/camera on a phone these days isn't coming any time soon without throwing a phablet screen on it.
And now.... the Note 2 seems like the perfect device to go to from the SGS3.... I think 5"5 is just about the highest I can go -- though sorta not happy that is only has 267ppi (I am near-sighted even with glasses). The note 3 sounds to be too big, the new Nexus probably won't hit verizon, the HTC One's camera is the worst, and the SGS4 is not my phone....
Oh and Verizon has these coupons that brings a brand new Note 2 down to $204 so yeah
How do you guys like the phone? Are you upgrading or feeling an itch to?

Well, I have a few thoughts on it.
First off, you can't go wrong with this phone. I know we're all kind of still stuck in that mindset that we need the newest device available, but it just doesn't matter as much as it did two years ago. We reached that plateau where the computational hardware is more than powerful enough to run a perfectly smooth experience throughout the OS. Even with the new CPU architecture (A15 vs the A9 in this phone) in phones like the SGS4, the One, the GN3, etc. there's not much of a point in the extra power. When we went from A7 to A9 then single to dual core, it was a big deal. We needed the absolute best hardware to obtain the best experience we could. We've simply past that point.
With that said, 720p vs 1080p, to me at least, also means less than 720p vs WVGA. Even at 5.5" inches, it's really freakin' hard to see the difference. Also, if you have vision issues, you realize that things will be smaller in 1080p vs 720p? Things are sharper because they can fit more stuff in the same screen, and produce the same images at a smaller rate. DON'T "upgrade" to 1080p if that's an issue for you.
The biggest selling point for us, of course, is that the GN2 is the only one with an unlocked bootloader right now. There's hope that the SGS4 will have safestrap (maybe even kexec support too) soon, and while safestrap's great, it's not an unlocked bootloader. It's a big deal, it's getting harder to unlock them with every new generation of phones. Before you go with this though, really take the time to hold it in your hand there. If you're used to using your phone with one hand, it will be a lot harder. People actually laugh at how big my hands are, but I can only barely reach every part of this screen with my thumb.
The One has a beautiful design, screen, etc. but I personally can't give up a removable battery and external sd support. I have barely plugged this phone in because I swap batteries and use an external charger. Furthermore, I never worry about storage because of the sd. I can't give those up.
The Note 3 will probably be the same size as this device with a smaller bezel. It will probably be even thinner too, if the SGS3 to 4 is any precedent. It will be my first choice as an upgrade, but I'm in no rush. I'll wait until I can get a custom ROM/kernel on it so there's established & active development for it. I would hate to be stuck in the situation SGS4 users are in now. Even MDK users, the ones who were able to get their phone before the firmware update, barely have development options because there's such a small user base.
The new Nexus I can't really comment on, there's no substantial information available for it, which at least means it won't be available any time soon. The Nexus 4 and GNex were horribly-kept secrets, so the new one won't be any different.

I think I might just go with Amazon.... it's only 99 on there now. Going in today just to test the Moto X at VZW... though I know I'm pretty sure I'm going to be disappointed.

Today, decided the move to the 4

I had made up my mind to stick with the 3.
Crazy enough, my main decision is based on the camera and video.
Played with the 4 in Best Buy and every pic and video was virtually perfect, and watched many videos and reviews.
At my daughter's birthday gathering today, half my 3 pics were crap. Sucked.
While not my only selling point, the cam is important to me due to taking pics and Vids of my kids.
There are of course other points ( root, charging faster, l am a phone ho, etc.) so I know I will not be dissappointed.
Going tomorrow to give down payment, and this time unlocked, month to month, no Verizon to deal with.
I know most of you could care less, so skip the party pooper posts ( mods excluded of course, do whatever you like!).
Just trying to express my feelings as l am the only person in my whole family who is a tech whore, so my tech talk is limited.
This place needs as much life as possible anyway.
Trying to get wife to take over the 3 (she has S4) to move her on up.
Thanks for listening!

Are you off contract with Verizon now and paying full price or are you switching service providers?
I completely understand. I'm sure a lot of us, including myself are on the fence about leaving the note 3 and moving towards the note 4. It was the same feeling a lot of note 2 users has exactly a year ago, when the juggernaut 3 came out. Is it worth it for the better camera and quad hd display? some will say yes, some may no. But in your case, with the kids and taking all the moments is important than the justifies the move up. But for me, I don't want to pay outright for the phone, so I could sign up for edge but I don't want to. But this time next year, the next big thing will be out, the juggernaut 5

Awesome phone. Battery life is insane, camera is quite nice, screen is solid but not quite as responsive as my N3, and I like the size of the n3 better. Which is most likely just because i have been using it for a year. My only complaints are the reception is terrible and the screen sensitivity. I will randomly have calls go straight to voice mail and that never happened on my note 3.

I was thiking the same thing. With out Hashcode I don't know which dev is going to continue safestrap. I'm sure root will be achievied but beyond that, I do not know about the note 4's future. But who know's it might pick up. I've noticed that note 3 developemnt has been slow lately. No update to jellybeans rom, hypderdrive, allicance but it seems jasmine rom is still going at least. But what if the devs are working on note 4 stuff.? Just a lot of stuff floating in the air.

Without unlocked boot loader DEV always slows down without any new leaks or updates. Same story on my last 2 phones, OG Epic & Note 2.

I'm wanting the note 4 but I was thinking about waiting until development picks up. Well today I took the case off my note 3 and noticed the plastic edges are cracking (wtf?). Sooooo now I'm like, do I get the note 4 asap or should I just pick up an iPhone 6 -__-

I am switching to tmo on Friday and picking up a note 4. I get horrible verizon reception in my apartment, and tmo has wifi calling. They are also giving me $220 for my Note 3, which only cost $150, and paying the Verizon etf. Unlocked bootloader will be a welcome change as well...
