i have bought Redmi Note 2 TD but seller did something and this TDD support FDD :/
Now my Question is this safe for my device hardware?
Will this Custom Firmware be bad for my device in long term of use?
And if i Install official Rom from MIUI website will i lose FDD bands and will i brick phone?
Really i need more info about this TDD/FDD china version hope someone will respond and also this trhead will be good for future buyers
I have TD version (2015052), with FDD bands.
FDD bands is supported out of the box by factory, but it is not usable in China market.
I have 3rd rom flashed on my RN2, without any problem.
Just avoid to flash china rom, dev or stable-only for safety feeling.
Good luck

Are you sure about this?
I bought the TD version in Hong-Kong by mistake, it worked perfectly in China with China Mobile 4G, but now in Taiwan the data isn't working, I can make phone calls but cannot have any data (my plan is 3G).
Do you have any idea why? or how to put it working?

Probably because you have china rom. Maybe you can flash multilingual from http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/5-11-5.28947/, and (I believe) you can use TW (FDD) bands, but only on one SIM slot (of your choice).
I bought my TD version by Aliexpress, from HK also.
In advertisement they say that after flashing their (idk if only?) rom, device have FDD bands enabled.
I put on my device all published roms for redmi note 2, except China roms, without problems.

Try in engeneer mode (type *#*#3646633#*#*) > Telephony > BandMode>SIM1 under LTE to check bands 1, 3 , 7, like in pictures:

Hello everyone, checking the versions of Redmi / Hongmi 3 I realized that there are different versions.
The versions are:
Redmi / Hongmi 3 (2015810)
Redmi / Hongmi 3 (2015811)
Redmi / Hongmi 3 (2015815)
Redmi / Hongmi 3 (2015816)
Redmi / Hongmi 3 (2015817)
Redmi / Hongmi 3 (2015818)
Redmi / Hongmi 3 (2015819)
What are the differences? And above all, what are global or Chinese versions?
Thanks
Nobody can help me?
help you how ?
except the normal / pro version you don't choose which version to buy
what do you mean what are global or chinese versions ?
we have only global and chinese roms , not global / chinese hardware
(global = more languages , probably google services installed , and removed some unnecessary chinese apps)

is Global? What is sold in India? What is the Chinese?
I can not distinguish these versions because even have different bands...

first of all where did you see the version number ?
for example mine is 2015810 (i see this number in the box) and i bought it from vickmall.com
i dont know if there are differences or is just a code (for example let's say 810 is the first batch from factory , 811 the second etc)

Aahhh ok... then 810-811-815-816 etc... is not the country of origin?
because I see that each version is characterized by a different band network
Example:
2015816 > GPRS, EDGE, TD-SCDMA, TD-HSDPA, LTE
2015818 > CDMA2000 EV-DO Rev A, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, LTE (this should be the Indian version)
and so on...
So I was wondering versions corresponds to which country

i don't know this page , and we don't know if all the specs (about the network bands) are really accurate
(for example i have 2015810 and it's not on the list)
(they sell officially to few places china , india , singapore maybe ...)
so i guess the best answer is that "ask the seller" or ask to http://en.miui.com/forum.php to see if you get an answer

Right ..... Its a crap shoot, junk yard dog and pi$$ in the wind when it comes to online resellers and their knowledge of what they are selling you.
They are really fast to take your money and prommise you the moon, but need the kick in the pants from PayPal to get any action on a RTM refund .....
Hi,
I'm looking to buy a used note3 pro 16/2gb sd, online for a friend. The seller says that it has 3g/4g blocked on europe because it was bought on pre-sale. It's that a software or hardware limition? It comes with Miui 8. If I flash cm13 Solves the problem?
Thanks
Tough call, check out what bands it supports if it supports your carrier you can flash a global rom or custom.
First of all, thank you for paying attention to my question and sorry if my English is not good.
Hi, im from Chile and I bought a RN4x Global with Qualcomm, but the network works terribly slow. I just discovered that the phone originally had the China Rom (Box is half Chinese half English) but it was flashed to Global Rom by the man who sold it to me.
May that be the reason why it is so slow? (I mean, may the network be so slow because it doesnt work under the LTE band of my carrier?)
In short: If someone flashes Global Rom on a Chinese version phone, should it take the same bands as a originally Global version phone?
Thank you very much for your answers!
Hardware wise, the Chinese and Global versions of mido (your device) are identical. They should both support the same modem bands no matter the ROM version. If the global firmware is installed then that is the best you can do. But you could always flash the global version yourself just to be sure, though I can't help with that - there are already heaps of guides out there for that.
Not supporting certain LTE bands that you carrier needs won't make it slow - it will either work or it won't at all. Problem must be elsewhere.

Hey everyone!
Currently a user of an RR rooted oneplus 3. Love the phone but I keep hearing good things about Xiaomi.
I must admit I'm curious, especially with the Mi Mix 2 coming out. How are Xiaomi phones on US cell networks? I would mainly be using AT & T. I have no problem putting custom roms etc on my phones so that's not an issue.
I just wouldnt want to be stuck with a phone that had bad 4G/LTE support.
Pros and cons of going with a Xiaomi phone vs say the one plus 5, or a true US supported phone like the LG V30 or upcoming pixel XL2 or even the asus zenphone 4 pro?
Curious to see what everyone has to say .

I'm using Redmi note 4 global Version in USA on T-Mobile. You just need to do a little research on what frequency at&t uses. Or what bands they use. For me I'm only getting 1 LTE band supported which is band 4. I get lte everywhere and it's fast. This is what at&t supports 17(700Mhz), Band 5(850Mhz), Band 2(1900Mhz), Band 4(1700/2100Mhz) currently. You can use this http://www.china-prices.com/phone/bands/7131/xiaomi-redmi-note-4-64gb to check compatibility with Chinese phones it's pretty accurate. So I just looked it up the global Version of Redmi note 4 you would get 2 LTE bands. Better than what I get. You can research other xiaomi phones as well.

Also switch service to mint sim for $25 a month with unlimited talk text and 10gb of data. Redmi note 4 global Version 3gb around $150 and the 4gb version around $200.
There are some xiaomi phones that support more bands but they do cost more. A unlocked phone in the USA you should be getting at least 3 LTE frequencies support. Like on T-Mobile there are 3 main bands. 2 4 and 12. 12 is for when your inside and it penetrates through buildings. At&t might have the same type of thing with 850mhz. Lower the frequency the farther it can travel.
Feel free to direct message me if you have more questions I've basically researched all available xiaomi phones. I can help you with compatibility
You don't have to worry about bands support, if it doesn't support bands on USA, You can unlock all bands on Mido, 1-41 bands can be unlocked

So basically as long as the soc's modem supports it then there are ways to unlock it. I am unfamiliar with Mido. What is that? I am going to be targeting a Snapdragon 835 phone here in the next month or two. Hopefully we will see on the 11th the mi mix 2 getting that Soc.

I'm not sure about the first line, but here on RN4 it can be unlocked with other version of RN4 who had All bands unlocked
Mido is code name for Redmi Note 4, every devices on Xiaomi have their own code name
I think yes it will be getting 835
I think it will be support for Mi Mix 2 on USA, i know someone who had mi6 basically had same soc, and he can used it in USA
Unlocking bands is not easy at all.. it's possible in theory, but it's extremely complicated and dangerous you can completely brick your phone.
Dont even consider this, i dont know what this guy above is talking about. Maybe he will present us unlocked all bands if this is so easy?

It's easy and it will not brick your phone, only signal loss and you can restore your backup if anything happened (signal loss)

Make sure your sim is in Sim slot 1 which is the one that goes farthest inside phone that's the only one that works for LTE.
Looks like your carrier runs off the t mobile network. You have lte band 2 4 and 12. There are also multiple versions of redmi note 4. If you have redmi note 4 global version which runs the snapdragon processor you should be ok and getting LTE on band 4.
Also depending on what area you are in and the cell towers in your area you could be to far from LTE cell towers. Good luck
Go into sim apn settings there should be one already setup called fast t mobile. Because I'm pretty sure your on t mobile network you can select that and get LTE.

A good app from the play store is called LTE discovery it will tell you what band or frequency you are on I posted a couple screen shots on a different phone though running MIUI 8 but should be about the same. Also what plan are you on maybe you have used all your data? Also check with your carrier you might have to supply the IMEI number for them to activate it. Are you able to make calls?
Are you able to use the Sim in a different phone and LTE is fine?
Are you sure your not on redmi note 4x?

Does LTE actually continue to work for you after you make a voice call or when it otherwise switches to something other than LTE?
Because I'm on cricket as well and mine never goes back to LTE once it switches to H+. I've gotta go into preferred network and switch to to Prefer 3G and back to Prefer LTE to make it work again.
I've tried it with an AT&T prepaid sim as well. I've also done a factory reset, tried the nano sim in slot 2 and also in a micro sim adapter in slot 1. All with the same result. I've got good LTE signal on band 4 all over the place which works perfectly when it's connected. But if I make a phone call or walk into the center of home depot where the signal drops for even a second, it will go to H+ and literally never switch back.

oh OK. Im on 8.5.4.0. I should probably try 9, or Lineage soon.
I did actually witness this thing switch from H+ to LTE today, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was out in the middle of nowhere, and the LTE signal showed 1 bar, so apparently the H+ must have been even worse.
Guys H+ is fast too, I think it's like up to like 168mbps. Personally I have no problems with LTE but I prefer to use H+ because it's enough of speed for everything you could think of, obviously the signal is better then 4g and it's easier on battery.
Edit:
Actually it seems like H+ can be even faster then LTE.

Thinking about buying this phone. Can you guys tell me the common issues with this phone? The one I'm most concerned with is the headphone jack, does it produce hiss sound at low volume? I ask this since I came across a lot of phones with that issue. Thanks in advance

I personally don't experience hissing on this phone. As far as issues, it involves the OTA from Vendor Roms which bricked some devices. You can check your ROM version and cross reference it with the ones on the Mi website to make sure. Aside from that, I don't see anything wrong with the phone.
Hi, I'm also considering to buy Note 5 and I just wanted to say that I don't have that problem with Note 4, it doesn't mean much since I don't use N5 but I think there is very very little chance for hissing issue in any device produced in 2017.
Hi just want to ask about redmi note 5 plus.
1. How could i know if it is a international variant
2. Any one show me an SS of something like model name or variant for international variant so that i have a clue when buying it

Hi, when I purchased seller offer also a global variant for 40 usd more.
Many people confuse about global device version and global firmware that it´s not the same.
You just have to pay special attention to the bands that is enabled, the global version has more bands enabled, by i.e my version that is a non global doesn´t have LTE bands 2 (1900) nor 4 (1700/2100) it mean that in my country it can´t work on 4G (of course I bought it so it is cause I didn´t need). This is the main difference.

Why do you say that has B4? Where you saw it?
Look at this info, just 4G apparted, this is a non-global version from a chinese seller you can find these specs;
4G FDD LTE B5:850 /B8:900 /B3:1800 /B1:2100 /B7:2600
TD LTE B38:2600 /B39:1900/ B40:2300 /B41:2500 MHz
TD or TDD is the LTE FOR China, look up FDD LTE bands.
And this is a Global version, seller usually put in a red highlighted the bands added
4G: FDD LTE B5:850 /B8:900 /B3:1800 /B1:2100 /B7:2600 /B4:1700 /B20:800;
TD LTE B38:2600 / B40:2300
Differences here are bands 4 for Latin America and guess some regions of Asia and maybe others and band 20 for Spain.

I mentioned that because my 4g shouldn't work but it appears in the notification bar.
I bought the "Official Global ROM" (I saw it is not the Global Version)
FDD LTE B3:1800/B1:2100/B7:2600/B5:850/B8:900MHz
TDD LTE B34:2100/B38:2600/B39:1900/B40:2300/B41:2500MHz
This confuses me :silly:

No, if your device hasn´t these two added bands definitely it´s not a global version (global rom concept mean nothing for this) is a hardware limitation although can work within 4G depending on your company carrier in some of the 5 frequencies enabled.
I have a Chinese RN5, it has loads of bands dudes. The chance of it not working on your network are slim.
As for the headphones dilemma, they do not hiss or produce low volume. Altho if you pair them with Xiaomi Pro HD which have a high impedance then you will notice a lack in volume. That can be easily fixed with Dolby Atmos the Magisk Module.
