Hi all. Got my 6p and have been working it in. I am a hybrid developer and UX/UI designer. Ask me anything about the phone. Want me to test something, let me know!
Is there a raised lip around the screen? Or is it perfectly flush?

It feels like a raised lip. Quite minor but there is definitely a slight less than what seems to be like half a mm raise.

So a glass screen protector would level it out, maybe?

Is there any way to decrease the contrast? I enabled srgb mode in dev. Settings and my eyes still hurt... I used basic settings on my s6 since the other 2 amoled settings hurt my eyes.. If not, then sadly I have to return this device and I love it.
P.s:- I am visually impaired.
Thnx

Will you (or anyone that will get the 6p reading this thread) root the device, and does Fingerprint and/or android Pay work?

Yeah. The glass screen protectors hopefully account for the slight raise. If so, it will level it out. Get the thinnest glass possible.

I'll test it out but there are options to allow dimming of screen after a period of time.

This might not answer your question completely, but hopefully it helps. I'm typing this on a rooted, decrypted 5x. Fingerprint works perfectly and Android pay is working for me if I go into Supersu and disable root. I can add cards and I was able to pay with it. If root is checked in Supersu it will fail though.
Well, that works for me. I can live without Pay for a while. I really want to keep fingerprinting intact. Thanks
With Manual Camera App or a Similar one what's the maximum time available on shutter speed?
For long exposure I mean, what's the longest time possible to keep the lens "open" ?
Thanks in advance ^^

Nope. Hasn't gotten warm at all. The only time I felt a hint of warmth was during setup installing my apps while charging at same time.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply man! Is the phone really that fast and smooth as they say on the reviews? Have you used a note 5 and if yes how do they compare?

I'm pretty sure that is not a feature, and is a defect either in the software or unfortunately the hardware. You might need a new S Pen to fix the problem the right way.
There's a youtube video out there on how to "fix" this issue, but what it really does is reduce the sensitivity of the pen to the screen and you probably lose some serious pressure levels when applying this fix. Sorry no link, but I would advise trying your S Pen on the verizon floor model and see if it does the same thing to that one. Then you can feel fairly certain you need a replacement pen.

I was thinking the same thing... if the pen is dropped and the tip is pushed back in to the pressure sensor then it would be 'active' all the time and the hover feature would be interrupted by the phone like touching the screen. A flat tip would be a good indication of that being the case.

check to see if the tip of the s pen is pressed in as it would be if you were touching the screen. It is a physical button that pushes in while writing.
Recently I've noticed that my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has had burn in issues where the status bar usually is. Whenever I'm in clockwork mod recovery I notice it, or sometimes when I do other fullscreen tasks. Is there a fix? Or do I need to replace my phone?

There is no real fix. Maybe a temporary fix but once you start to see burn in it is unfortunately a down hill trek from there.
40+ years of display technology and it seems like they always start over. simple laziness. burn-in helps nudge you to a new device in two years. heaven forbid something was built to last.

I found out with my first S3 how bad these screens burn in, that had the worst burn in I have ever seen.
On my 2nd & 3rd S3's & with my Note 2 I turned the screen brightness down & set the screen timeout to 30 seconds & that cured the problem.

Replacing the phone is the only fix & then turn down the screen and shorten the timeout.
If you don't do that, the new one will have the exact same problem.

Although you probably won't see it in cell phones, LCD panels can burn in. Main ones that usually do are computer monitors. Plasma displays can burn in. OLED displays burn in.
Really there isn't any display types used today that doesn't burn in but monochrome displays.

That's why everyone adopted screen savers decades ago. They've been thrown away to to serve our insatiable need for instant gratification. Heaven forbid you had to do something before you could see your unread email, new text or missed call counts.

I noticed my burn in about a week ago, of course the notification bar is burnt in and is the worst but I also have burn in from the BaconReader app, the two bacon strips symbol is burnt in really bad along with the arrows at the bottom that let you toggle between full screen and regular.
It pisses me off because the burn in continues to get worse the more I use BaconReader, which I've pretty much quit using it because of this.
I can't really blame anyone though because I enjoy my phone at full brightness, which I knew would make the burn in worse, and it really doesn't interfere with anything as of yet.

No screen performs well in direct sunlight at 50% brightness. This screen is the best out there in direct sunlight in my opinion, and I've owned almost every new phone there is.

Well there's your problem! Your screen brightness needs to be at 100% to look the best in direct sunlight. All smartphone screens are like this. You'll need to switch to automatic brightness or manually crank up the brightness when outside. And don't use power saving mode - it dims the screen.
I just got the Note 2 a few weeks and so far it's my favorite phone I've ever owned. I love the big screen, I use the S pen all the time and the battery is tremendous.
One thing that I'm not quite fond of is the screen brightness, specially when using Netflix.
I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this with Netflix but the brightness on the phone seems to be OK but as soon as I start playing something on Netflix it's really dim. I have the brightness turned all the way up and it still looks really dim.
The quality also isn't great either, it's like it's not playing in HD or something. I've tried connecting to 4G and Wi-Fi and it still doesn't always look so great.
Wondering if there anyone knows of a solution or a hack or something?
I watch a lot of Netflix on my phone and would love to solve this.
I am rooted and I'm using JellyBeans 21 ROM.
Thanks.
Try going back to stock ROM and check if the issue persists.
I noticed that beans rom has reduced brightness overall (cannot say for sure but that was what I felt comparing against stock)

Have you adjusted your quality levels on netflix.com yet? If your not worried about data or use wifi alot crank up quality settings on the site. Then reboot and fire flix back up. As the video buffers during play quality will slowly increase. Depending on your connection it should play pretty decent quality a minute or so into the video. And if you use mx player for your video files make sure you have mx brightness turned up. Im pretty sure mx settings are independent of system. Im also running 21 but I always use beans stock kernel. And even on the puter or xbox netflix Never truly hits HD.

If you do just remember one thing.
The AMOLED screen in our phones gets burn in if your not careful. the brighter the screen the quicker the burn in, at least thats what ive been told.
I have not seen any burn in on my phone, but I know people who are always at max brightness and you can see their status bar even in full screen apps because its burnt in...

In my question thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793532) I got the answer that it doesn't really affect waterproofing because the seal is made over a larger area than the gaps.
The gaps I have are at the top right, bottom left, and the middle of the entire left side (very minimal but noticeable to my very focusing eyes - I regret looking that close to my device)
Thanks for the replys the gap doesn't bother me just worried water would get in and the slight misalignmen of the camera flash doesn't seem to affect anything so I should be good shouldt I?
