Recently I've noticed that my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has had burn in issues where the status bar usually is. Whenever I'm in clockwork mod recovery I notice it, or sometimes when I do other fullscreen tasks. Is there a fix? Or do I need to replace my phone?

There is no real fix. Maybe a temporary fix but once you start to see burn in it is unfortunately a down hill trek from there.
40+ years of display technology and it seems like they always start over. simple laziness. burn-in helps nudge you to a new device in two years. heaven forbid something was built to last.

I found out with my first S3 how bad these screens burn in, that had the worst burn in I have ever seen.
On my 2nd & 3rd S3's & with my Note 2 I turned the screen brightness down & set the screen timeout to 30 seconds & that cured the problem.

Replacing the phone is the only fix & then turn down the screen and shorten the timeout.
If you don't do that, the new one will have the exact same problem.

Although you probably won't see it in cell phones, LCD panels can burn in. Main ones that usually do are computer monitors. Plasma displays can burn in. OLED displays burn in.
Really there isn't any display types used today that doesn't burn in but monochrome displays.

That's why everyone adopted screen savers decades ago. They've been thrown away to to serve our insatiable need for instant gratification. Heaven forbid you had to do something before you could see your unread email, new text or missed call counts.

I noticed my burn in about a week ago, of course the notification bar is burnt in and is the worst but I also have burn in from the BaconReader app, the two bacon strips symbol is burnt in really bad along with the arrows at the bottom that let you toggle between full screen and regular.
It pisses me off because the burn in continues to get worse the more I use BaconReader, which I've pretty much quit using it because of this.
I can't really blame anyone though because I enjoy my phone at full brightness, which I knew would make the burn in worse, and it really doesn't interfere with anything as of yet.

Can anyone please port the TORCH application that is in the market (also comes with CM roms), and make it fully functional?
I have downloaded it from the market (Nexus Torch), and it seems fine, but on "High Brightness" it flickers on and off way too much.
This is one of my fav apps.
Please and thanks

supposedly this is bad for your LEDs whenever you turn it up on the highest for a long period of time or make it flicker like a strobe light. people have reported after keeping the app on for around a minute the LED burned out lol. Forgot which phone it was but it shouldn't matter, also if you notice your phone gets pretty hot when it's on, I only use the flashlight app for emergency and I'm sure that's what its intended for.

haha I did the same as you and had the same problem, I would like a torch app as well, that would be great. The regular settings for a flashlight is just not good enough sometimes!!!

Why not downloading it from market and use as you so wished? Is there a non-compatible issue?

I just need the high brightness setting, It would be nice to have it, I voided the warranty lets get the most out of it!!!
It would be nice, family, friends, and strangers are always asking me to look at their teeth (I should stop mentioning to people that I'm a dentist, I'm afraid if I say I'm a janitor they'll ask me to come clean their floors though!!!!!!), of course this really does nothing major (They really need a full exam in a office setting) but gives me a better idea of what can actually be done and a high brightness would be nice...

i took screenshot of the dark image where the white spots are visible ...please see the attachment
If you're talking about a few dots in the screen and can see that dot in different black/dark images in the same spot, you have dead pixels.
In this case, taking a screenshot with the phone will not show your problem. You'll have to take a picture of the screen with a camera.

Is that a screen shot? looks like it to..if your trying to show the dead pixel it won't show on a screen shot.. You have to take a picture with another phone /camera on the actual device ...correct me if I'm wrong..had dead pixels on devics..now my second note has one time to return it..

If you can take a screenshot, then its in the display software or the actual picture. If it was the hardware, then you would need to take an actual picture of the phone's screen.
I was gonna suggest it's pressure points, but you would not see that on a "screen shot".
You can see a "cloud" because the NOTE has an issue with displaying colors, refer to; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559800
Hi, Im new here. Im from Malaysia.
I bought S3 last 3 week ago.
The 2nd day i found my S3 screen got problem(only when at night or dark place).
The 3rd day i go change the new one. And it got the same problem.
My question is, Should i change again new phone or let it go?
Is anyone here got this problem too? When watching Movies or Black color picture at Night/Dark place, u can saw the black splash dot. Annoying.
ps, sorry for my bad english. hope you guys understand what i asking. : )
It happens on my device too. It's an issue with amoled screens. Quite common for all amoled devices.
Doesn't affect screen quality that much and 90% of the time you can't even notice it so don't worry too much

it is a known problem with amoled on lowest screen brightness with black background
This problem is not a fault. unfortunately Every phone has this problem.
I did not notice this in S2. But the HD amoled has this issue.
I was thinking, maybe something was wrong with the screen protector,
Moreover the spots are visible usually during low lit/night time
I changed my s3 three times and all of them have the problem... so nothing to worry about

Yep there is a topic on it in general section I think. "ink marks" or something. Personally I think it is not a major problem. I have 2 or 3 tiny spots but most of the time we don't use the phone in a pitch black environment, nor are we looking at a pure black screen (how often do you spend in the homescreen?). It would however be an issue if it was noticable during movies, games etc, where the viewing experience is paramount

Yes true, it would be an issue if it was visible while watching movies and such.. but question is how long should this ink spot last compare to the other parts of the screen?
What does this ink indicate?
Yes I have them and it annoys me. And I don't understand why people defend it and say it's okay, we've all paid a lot of money for these phones how is it okay or acceptable to have black dots all over the screen? Yes it's only under very specific conditions but that's not the point, it is extremely annoying watching movies when they fade to black, when in the app launcher under dark conditions. And it's not just 1 or 2 small dots it's like someone broke a black pen and flicked it all over the screen.

I've only had the phone a few days now so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt since everything I've read is saying you get used to it but...... It's there..... There are dots on the screen every time there's black, how do you get used to that? I understand every AMOLED screen has it but don't you think that if it's that big a problem then the screens aren't ready for prime time and need to improved? I've found myself using white everywhere when black is what saves battery on an AMOLED screen and black looks good on an AMOLED screen but I can't stand the dots.

This might not answer your question completely, but hopefully it helps. I'm typing this on a rooted, decrypted 5x. Fingerprint works perfectly and Android pay is working for me if I go into Supersu and disable root. I can add cards and I was able to pay with it. If root is checked in Supersu it will fail though.
Well, that works for me. I can live without Pay for a while. I really want to keep fingerprinting intact. Thanks
