[Port] To the Amaze - HTC Amaze 4G

Can anyone please port the TORCH application that is in the market (also comes with CM roms), and make it fully functional?
I have downloaded it from the market (Nexus Torch), and it seems fine, but on "High Brightness" it flickers on and off way too much.
This is one of my fav apps.
Please and thanks

It has much more features including the ability to make the light flicker, and the high brightness mode is extremely ridiculous, I mean, I turned it on in a theater and the entire room was lit up lol

supposedly this is bad for your LEDs whenever you turn it up on the highest for a long period of time or make it flicker like a strobe light. people have reported after keeping the app on for around a minute the LED burned out lol. Forgot which phone it was but it shouldn't matter, also if you notice your phone gets pretty hot when it's on, I only use the flashlight app for emergency and I'm sure that's what its intended for.

The warning info that say that if you leave it too long is for noobs who think they can leave it for a whole day on with nothing happening to the phone.
Its an awesome app, I hope someone can port it.

haha I did the same as you and had the same problem, I would like a torch app as well, that would be great. The regular settings for a flashlight is just not good enough sometimes!!!

Just use flashlight.... What, are we twelve? I've fixed cars in the dead of night with it. It is plenty bright.

Just to be clear, my n1 has it, and it is not superior to our flashlight app.

Thank you for your suggestion, I guess I've been using the music player instead of flashlight all this time, that's why I don't see any light.

Why not downloading it from market and use as you so wished? Is there a non-compatible issue?

I just need the high brightness setting, It would be nice to have it, I voided the warranty lets get the most out of it!!!
It would be nice, family, friends, and strangers are always asking me to look at their teeth (I should stop mentioning to people that I'm a dentist, I'm afraid if I say I'm a janitor they'll ask me to come clean their floors though!!!!!!), of course this really does nothing major (They really need a full exam in a office setting) but gives me a better idea of what can actually be done and a high brightness would be nice...

Very different picture results, same lighting/settings in camera

Hello People,
So I just took a picture of the room I'm in and in the first shot I got this.
Came out nice right? I decided the picture was a little tilet so I took another shot, without changing a single setting and got this:
Why is the first one so nice and rich but the second one is all washed out?? I can't for the life of me get the camera to take another picture that looks like the first one. Does anyone have any ideas what's going on here and how I can replicate the initial results?
That's the white balance setting kicking in. The first time it thought you were outside so it changed the white balance for daylight. The second time it realized you were inside so it adjusted it for incandescent lighting. I've only noticed it switch between those two, so if you want a better picture select it yourself.
Go to menu>white balance>and change 'auto' to the best setting for whatever room you are in.
Ha thanks! THat was it! Although, leaving it on auto gives the washed out picture. Changing it to "daylight" while inside gives the nice deep color
That "rich" color you are referring to is totally off and looks horrible! The second one is correct, notice that the whites are actually white??? The Daylight setting is overcompensating a yellow filter to correct the blue cast that would be there if you were outside in the sun like the setting indicates...
I have to agree with jsls

To get the results it seems that you want just use a sepia filter and it will give it that warm look. If you want a "correct" picture the second one is the way to go however. If you like the look then go with it.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Yeah I think you might be a little color blind, because the second pic looks so much better. The color actually stand out. The whites are white not yellow like the first pic. And look at the computer screen, the colors look good.
I like the first one cause it looks like it was taken back in 1912 and sat on the old print out paper in my grandma's closet till this morning.

Just gotta give this screen SOME credit!

Everyone, well most people love this phone except the screen! While its still a great screen it just has some weird things goin on with it that you notice immediately cause your not use to it, though i dont notice it at all anymore.
I wanted to give this phone some credit for the fact that i keep the brightness OFF and can still easily see even in the sunlight! That's a very first for me! And i LOVE it for battery reasons.

The screen definitely isn't perfect, but it's pretty good. Coming from an EVO 4G, the screen is definitely an improvement.
Although some would argue the Epic Touch 4G screen is superior, and it is in some ways, the over saturated colors on it are more off-putting to me than the Photon's.
i dont mind/care about pentile so thats a non-issue.. however i miss the bright vibrant colors of a samoled.. its one of the reason why the razr is possibly my fav phone on the market
p.s. to anyone who thinks we have nothing going on.. go check them out.. they dont have a stock sbf, no unlock, no roms, no kernels, no cwm, no way to restore back to anything.... oh and they have a leaked ota that has now locked a lot of people onto it which means without a way to write crap they CANNOT get future otas....
lol imagine you were so eager for the first bug fix ota that due to rushing/leaks it prevented you from being able to get the ics ota
I dont mind about the pentile either, i beARLy ever notice it, i mean i did at first but even then i was like.. still very good screen for a phone and never bothered me

I personally like the Pentile - accurate colors, bright and good outdoors. I've tried really hard, but my eyes just do not see the screen door effect on (at least) my particular device.
And - I was very prepared to hate it when I first walked in the store, after reading reviews
The Sammy screens get lots of mention because they have overly-saturated colors (similar to the effect you get when you turn a digital camera to its "Vivid" setting). And lots of people like artifical over-saturation..... As an amateur photog, I prefer accurate color rendition.

Exactly! Ive even read some reviews saying its slightly better than the amoled screen and i got a widget that would actually turn the brightness all the way down (cause stock doesnt as joker mentioned) and i can still see it perfectly with the sunlight facing it! I like the pentile screen all around, on hd games/movies it performs flawlessly. As you said, almost perfect colors.

Blocking the sensor works, but...
I just tried putting a small piece of tape over the sensor and found that it works. The red buttons always stay on regardless of the ambient light conditions, however, during a call the screen will no longer go dark so that your ear, cheek, etc are no longer prevented from inadvertently clicking on anything. Obviously the sensor has a double duty.

or it can also be the fact that on my incredible i had cm7 and had torch which pushed the leds to their limit and made them really hot but i just loved that flashlight helped out when i needed to look for something in the dark
again, as a.mcdear pointed out - this is a 100% hardware capability thing. while some software might not set the same brightness levels in settings, the limits are the limits of the hardware.

Sure, and you can hook them up to a car battery and they will explode, but that does not mean that another app can miraculously cause the hardware to deliver more power to the Flash LEDs. The fact is that the torch setting on any app is probably already using the maximum brightness that the hardware is capable of.
Snowman is not making things up. The nexus torch on the Incredible would overpower both LEDs at once for a crazy bright light. When I would run non-CM7 ROMs on my Incredible, I always looked for an alternative app that did the same thing, but never could. Most could only run one of the two LEDs. If they could light both at once, they were not overpowered.

Yeah the torch app on the incredible was so bright that every time you turn it on it had a warning popup saying not to leave it on long because it would melt **** lol
No offense, but if having a bright flashlight is really this important to you, why not just get an actual flashlight?
Otherwise, if you're in a pinch and just need a quick light, the rezound is definitely bright enough for illuminating a dark area (like putting your keys in the car door in an unlit parking lot)
I still have my incredible (gf uses it actually) so I know how bright that app is.
What I was saying is that the rezound is clearly capable of the same bright flashlight as the incredible. The incredible one turns on the leds as if to flash while taking a picture but keeps the lights on. I see no reason why the rezound could not do the same. Now do I know how to get that working at the moment - no. But I'm interested enough to do some research and I'll post what I find.

Anyone else notice the little red LED on the left side?

So I just got off the phone with my girlfriend, I'm hitting the hay early tonight, waiting for her to get home and she just called me so I put it on speaker.
Then I noticed there is a faint little red LED on the left side of the phone right above the screen, it went away when the call ended but I never noticed it before.
I know the OG EVO 4G had 2 LEDs, CM made the second one useful, but idk about the 3d or other evo phones.
I should note i am in a pitch black room and this led is about 1/3 of the size of the notification led. Also is extremely dim, almost looks like a red circle.
Kind of cool
Wondering if anyone else has noticed it
