hi,i am connecting my gs2 via kies and its says there is available firmaware,i am already rooted with original kernel, can i update?or i need update again with odin?and if its possible to update via kies what will happend?i will loss my root?
thank u
As long as you are on Stock firmware, root/un root doesn't matter. Do the update. Yes you will loss root after flashing the new firmware, so you need to re root.
and something else.i think my phone was sim locked from 3uk company,if i update and lose root i will be sim locked again?or no?

Just remove your sim card before updating, it should not sim lock after update then

Hey, I was wondering if that is the same for the gs3
Build number : 6.0.A.3.62
Android version : 2.3.7
How should I root it?
I guess root is only available for .63, .67 and .73
Thanks
Why don't you upgrade to one of the newer frimwares then?
Just flash doom stock kernel,it has root and recovey.
You can find it in dev section.

Do you not get a software update notification if you have it check for updates under settings.
You can always flash an ftf for your specific region with what ever version you want.

Sony Xperia S Build 6.0.A.3.62
i have the build 6.0.A.3.62 with android 2.3 gingerbread. i have unlocked the bootloader but don't know how to test if it is unlocked or something else is still required. after unlocking the bootloader, when i powered up the phone, it was like i just bought the phone. it gave me those 9 steps to follow in order to setup internet connection, google account sync, etc. so how do I know if bootloader is unlocked on this phone?
now I'm dying here to root the phone lol. its been 20 hours i've been messing with the phone. right in this thread pratyush suggested to download the flashtool. but when i goto the flashtool website to download the latest version, the link is broken. file not found.
so i'm just wondering if someone can give step-by-step instructions for the build 6.0.A.3.62 and help me to root this device please. would appreciate your help a lot.
thanks for the help ppl ..

the latest one for my phone is 6.1.A.0.452 but all i wish to know, will it be easier to root the phone with 452 build? will i have to unlock the bootloader again after updating my phone to ics? i'm really a newbie and stupid when it comes to playing with electronic devices. but i can follow instructions accurately. sony gives a warning while upgrading that i wont be able to go back to 2.3 if i upgraded to ics. so all i wish to know, will it be easier to root the phone with present software build 62 or will it be better to upgrade and then root the phone on build 452?
please advise. thank you for your help.

You can go back to 2.3 just fine by flashing a ftf. There are a couple different methods to root ics. One needs an unlocked bootloader (flashing prerioted system image) the other does not (flashing multiple times while running some batch files). Both methods have posts in the dev section.

Easiest way is to unlock the booloader and flash the prerooted system.img you can then relock the bootloader if need be. That's for both ICS and GB.

You dont need to root to flash an firmware. Just saying.
Upgrade to ICS. Its much better and it would be much easier to help you because everyone uses it..
Good luck.
alrighty .. i tried to update the software but after downloading some odd 500 MB worth updates, it says "your software is modified, so can't be upgraded"

ok .. so i thought to do a factory reset on the phone settings > privacy > factory reset
it did factory reset and then i tried to upgrade the software. same thing ... it says, upgrade cant be done because the phone has modified software. i guess i will have to keep 2.3 gingerbread and then try to root the software. am i running out of options?

In Kinguser there is a option to unroot.
Some devices cannot be updated even after you unroot, and you will need to reflash stock...
thanks and will it have no knox tripped? so i can have still warranty for the device

Hi,
I have a Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon version. I just want to root it.
My question is: what is the easiest way to root and keep OTA updates functioning? (If possible)
I thought about the Dev rom, but it would havw the same features as in the China rom, i.e added crap. How would I backup, flash and remove crap in that case?
Edit: is there any way to root Global Stable with locked bootloader without breaking OTAs?
Thanks!

Do you have 2 options
1.Kingroot version:NewKingrootV4.85_C139_B255_en_release_2016_03_29_105203.(this is for Android) and you can download the exe file for windows.I have installed apk file on my Kenzo phone and worked without any issue. The earlier version was 4.82.C137(NewKingrootV4.82_C137_B248_en_release_2016_03_06_105203.) which didn't worked.Be sure about correct version, and download the file from official site adress to avoid any potential malware/virus/crap.If not working on the phone, you must try the windows version ;install it on pc and follow instructions. The correct adress :kingroot.net

U should have some basic knowledge on this matter or it will take more time to understand the procedure. If u have any questions feel free to PM me I'll guide u through the procedure
first this is not the place where you get fully miui support,en.miui.com,. you need to unlock bootloader to root the phone,.what ever you use like kingroot, this that....all fails. even you root your mi phone you get ota updates...only thing is after ota you need to root again. after rooting install custom twrp 3 recovery.so you can flash supersu root binary easily everytime you update.

Hi guys, first I want to apology if it has already been asked.
I'm running Android 6.0 (32.1.A.1.185) on my E5823. My phone is rooted and have Xposed installed (Hi Niantic)
I can't get rid of the notification for 32.2.A.0.224.
Should I update?
Will I loose root and Xposed? If so, how can I get rid of this annoying update notification?
Thanks a lot
You won't be able to update the official way without getting rid of the mods/root.

Uninstall Xposed framework and then you'll need to flash stock kernel using fastboot which would also remove whatever custom recovery and root you have.

I wouldn't recommend it. Even if you do succeed in updating you could end up with a bricked device or just mess up your firmware and would have to do redo everything. Best is to bring it back to complete stock and then do the update.

Okay, thanks for the reply
I don't really see the problem. Just flash the latest firmware using Flashtool and then root again by using the rootkernel mod in this forum. Xposed and such aren't a problem either.
Hi
Is it possible to use Flashtool with twrp/root/xposed? Btw I think my bootloader is still unlocked.
And what should I use to root? Something like this or this?

If your bootloader is unlocked you should be able to follow both tutorials just fine.
In short:
Flash new firmware using Flashtool
Patch kernel of new firmware and flash it
Flash SuperSU and Xposed using TWRP
Enjoy life
If you need step-for-step help, just send me a PM with your instant messasing contact details. I'll help where needed.
Hi, thanks for the reply, I'll do that when I'll have more free time.

In my case MM 6.0.1 (.224 or .253) solved the battery drain issue during night/sleep, so i would highly recommend it. There is also a discussion regarding this.
as suggested by others, i would not directly OTA upgrade with modded kernel, Supersu and Xposed installed. I would do it with flashtool.
If you want to stick with the current version, simply disable/hide/remove the Software update app (or "hide all notifications from this app".)
I froze it a while ago with Rom Toolbox, but thanks

Hi, I'm still on 32.1.A.1.185
Flashtool (Emma) only allow me to install 32.0.A.6.200 (there is Customized MY and NOBA, don't know the difference) and 32.1.A.1.163 (only Customized_NOBA)
Why can't I update to a more recent firmware?
