Hi there! I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue I have been having on my HAM 2. I have it upgraded to the last Lollipop release from Huawei.
I have wifi at work and a different wifi connection at home. When I go from one place to another, the HAM 2 will not reconnect automatically to the access point without me waking it up.
At work, we have multiple wifi access points throughout the building... it would be nice if I could get it to just reconnect despite the screen being off. I miss out on emails because of this since I don't have data.
Edit1: I forgot to mention, I made sure I have "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" as always. It stays connected just fine after I wake it up. But if I leave the house and come back, it would re-establish the wifi connection unless I wake it. After that, it's fine until I leave again.
Any suggestions are totally welcome! Thanks so much.

Thanks for the info! I read some, but am afraid did not finish. Not sure if there was a resolution or not. Glad to hear I'm not the only one running into the issue.
I finally took the plunge and unlocked my bootloader then installed the latest CarbonROM release. Didn't like EMUI anyway. This one seems to reconnect to WIFI without screen-on just fine. Probably something to do with Huawei's built-in power management features? Just guessing.
short answer for others is A complete reinstall of b322 fixed all wifi issues.

LMAO! That seems to become the default answer to all hard problems ...... if anyone tries it, and it works, keep us posted.
I don't run B322 (I run PACROM), so isn't there a way to adjust power management features to leave WiFi alone on B322? Or even tame down the power management or turn it off just to see how that affects WiFi connectivity.

Thanks for your post! Unfortunately, I tried a complete reflash of B322 and fully reset my phone... had the same problems.

It seemed like there were at least a couple different WIFI-related issues being discussed in the thread you linked. Reinstalling B322 did not fix the WIFI-roaming issue I was having (it sounds like you have this too?). I have not tried PAC-ROM, but so far the first November release of CarbonROM is working okay. 40+ hours of uptime thus far. I'll let you know if I try PAC-ROM and have the same issues, but I'm not sure I'll mess with it unless it breaks again.
Thanks again for all your help in pointing me towards discussion of this issue. I hope you find resolution to your particular problem!

Thanks. Re-install resolved the issue. Factory reset didn't resolve so I went ahead with B322 re-installation through SD card and dload folder and it worked. Now Wifi connects without any issue. Once again thank you very much for great support.

hey everybody
I must say, I love this phone. Coming from an HTC S710, I really must say that it has improved in so many ways that it makes the S740 pretty much the phone I always wanted.
However, there is one thing that keeps annoying me, maybe someone else has also made this experience: My Wifi sometimes acts up. What I mean is, sometimes (read hardly ever) it works just like its supposed to, most of the times it takes somewhere between 30 seconds and up to 4 minutes to.. well, I dunno exactly, to load the driver I suppose, and occassionally it won't switch on at all. A soft reset will fix this most of the time.
I have yet to find out what triggers this. Also, I have tried several hard resets, and even with a completely clean device, literally seconds after whiping it completely, this behaviour consists..
Please share if you have experienced something similar
-ombre-
I had problems with Wifi on my devices in the past. Switching power mode (Settings->Connections->WLAN settings->Power Mode) to maximum performance always helped, therefor I automatically switched it on my S740.
You should give it a try. If that doesn't help I would say you probably have a faulty unit.
Yeah, I remember that from my S710. Wifi wouldn't work properly if it wasn't set to max performance. Already tried that, to no avail. Will have a replacement in a couple of days, maybe I just got a lemon this time..
[update]
received a new unit today, no more such problems. must have been a faulty unit.
Glad to hear that.
Wifi driver
can anyone help me in downloading the wifi driver for HTC s710
can anyone help me find the wifi driver for HTC s740???
i downloaded a progam, that made my sound go boom, i uninstalled it and later i tried to turn on wifi, it goes off after about 2secs..
WTF!?
Edit: Solved o'o
It works! I mean yor advice! Thank ya! ;]

Hello everyone
I have a Galaxy 2, everything worked great, and one minute for no reason WIFI stopped working, I mean when I turn on the WIFI device starts scanning the network, the scan takes about 20 seconds (of course, no network is) and then the WIFI is turning off by himself.
Besides, everything works, BT,GPS ,also I can get and receive calls correctly.
I Changed for several versions of the modem, dozens of times ,I tried HARD RESET RECOVERY way -- nothing works.
my current state as a pic below
I'd like to accept any idea and help
Thanks all

Hi there porusski!
The best thing to do is to take your phone to your seller, Galaxy S2 has a two year warranty. They should fix it or replace your phone, it shouldn't take more than 10 days.

Do you have a Netgear router by any chance, cos they suck balls, and as a general rule, will not connect properly to an Android device.

Hello guy's,
I took my phone to the carrier and after lab check they told me that wifi module is move physically on the board -- they say that reason is bad flashing of rom or modem... Does it make sense to someone?? Because i flash just one time in day when i by the phone - and it was work perfect 3 weeks....
wifi module moved physically??
im having the same issue here, will be sending it back to the seller soon
tried almost everything possible solution, nothing works..

I was previously using a Huawei router. It kept disconnecting from the internet, so I changed it over to a Netgear DGN3500. I've had nothing but problems connecting the Galaxy S2 to the router over wifi. Keeps going between one bar and no bars, and disconnecting, even I'm not that far away from the router. In order to get 3 bars and a good signal I have to be directly next to the router.
Same issue here
Hi all,
I have the exact same issue, also tried wiping everything and switching rom/kernel/modem, also tried restoring to a nandroid when everything worked perfectly and still wifi doesn't work. I noticed that the wifi services are not running also.
It stopped working gradually after working great for a long time, sometimes I was able to connect sometimes don't, until it stopped working at all.
Do you have any updates on your situation?
Interesting. I seem to be having the same issue. I can connect to the router fine but it wont let me browse or download anything. 3G is working fine.
I will try and swap ROM (again) to see if it solves.
SOLVED

Lately my tab has been turning off by itself and it takes me a long time to turn it back on by holding the power button. Has a fix been found for this problem yet? I'm a little worried that one day the thing won't turn on again. Sometimes the tab is charged when it turns off, and I'm never using the thing when it does, so battery isn't really the issue. Any suggestions?

Are you rooted? Running a custom ROM? Running any extra mods at all?
No, I'm fully stock, never been rooted. Willing to root if the problem can be fixed though through a rom or something
i've made good strides in combating this.
But, you must have CWM installed in order to flash.
When you are ready to do this, then head over to the dev section, kernel thread.
In the meantime, set wifi to never sleep, and see if that cures some of it.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

To be honest if you have a completely stock machine I would call samsung and get them to check it, it sounds faulty. I work for a large computer retailler and haven't seen a single one behaving like yours out of hundreds.

Hey guys!
I'm not sure if this is my router problem, or my phone, but most likely my phone.
The wi-fi keeps continue to connect, and disconnect.
Here is the thing. When I bought the phone brand new, my phone behaved normal regarding the wifi, but when I flashed to a XXLF2, and using Checkrom with Siyah kernel, the wifi kept continue connect/disconnect all the time, so I gave another shot just reflashed everything to stock of XXLF2, still same problem.
Now, yesterday, I was flashing a new rom XXLF6, and then Omega rom, the wifi problem was still the same, so I gave it another try and just flashing the stock XXLF6, but the problem didn't either went away. I tried Ninphetamine kernel didn't help much either.
Anyone know what's going on??? You think it's hardware issue here, or something with the rom?
Hope someone could please help me out!
Thanks a lot!
Hi,
I not have the exact answer to you, but I think it is a hardware issue!! I have 2 router in my house (with the same ssid) with my SGS2 there is never problems when I cross the zones, it connects straight away to the other router. BUT with SGS3 it is a pain in the a..... I often need to turn on and off wi-fi several times before it can connect!!!! I think the 2 identical router confuse the SGS3....but not the SGS2 or my Tab. If there is only 1 router it connects straight away......
Yeah! That is actually what I was thinking too. It might be the hardware fault! I'm going to contact Samsung tomorrow, and see what's going on!
I have the exact same prob really annoying, but wifi driver is in kernel.I sometimes get "error bad connection " message.
Doesn't matter what kernel I use though.

Do you guys Have ram booster or any other app the like? Ram optimización turns wifi off...
No, but I do hit Clean Memory in the task manager quite often (because presto library is a piece of junk!) maybe that turns it off. I'll test tonight...
I'm also having the same issue, disconnecting, but appears connected in the Wifi settings. I have to go in and turn of power saving mode, but it comes back on after reboot.
Logicalstep
I had this wifi disconnect reconnect issue at work, but never happens at home. I initially thought it was some app I installed, I removed them and still happens at work, but not at home. All the phone settings mentioned here didn't make a difference.
I don't change anything on my phone, so I chuck it to incompatibility, and not an issue with my phone or it's settings.
Home Netgear WNDR3300 pretty much default settings.
The new firmware update XXLFB seems to update radio firmware and kernel. Maybe that will fix the problem.
Has anyone tried this?
Flash the rom and see if it helps.

What radio/modem version did you end up with, my UBLF2 (TTT) stayed the same after the update applied.

Today I told it to forget my B/G radio and to connect to the N radio. No disconnects, none..
No changes made to the phone at all..
2 phones - only 1 with wifi issues
Hi, noob here. I have been following this issue on androidforums.com (same user name) but since the "fix" came from this site I thought I'd share my relevant info here as well.
My husband and I received 2 Verizon SIII's (32GB) this weekend. Mine works great. His, however, has the wifi disconnect issue. The *#0011# is only a temporary fix for him.
So, for what it's worth, it's not likely to be a router problem, since 1 phone has no wifi issues and the other does.
We talked to Verizon at lunch today and they were interested in the problem and will be calling us at home this evening, with a Samsung rep. I'll post more once we've heard from them. For now though, Samsung does not have it listed as a "known" issue since there haven't been enough reports on this bug.
So i have this problem that my devices after it sleeps for a while disconnectis from wifi and says authentication problem. I just have to manually reconnect to my wifi. Are others having this issue, or know the fix?
I have this as well usually have to reboot to fix it though

Yes and no. If the problem is a third party app, factory reset won't fix it, unless you restore as new and don't reinstall any apps. Safe mode will at least let you see if it's a third party app although you won't be able to do a lot with the tablet while it's in safe mode. Just email, youtube, etc.
But if it's happening every time the tablet sleeps - mine's not, just about once a week or so - you only need to let it sleep in safe mode and wake it back up to see if it's a third party app.

Some of the posts were wifi not working at all, some were after sleep. Either way, it looked like it worked for me for a couple of days, but this morning it was disconnected.
TiBackup ran last night, and it was supposed to sync to the cloud. It errored out with a connectivity problem. Thinking back, I believe the last time it dropped was on a scheduled backup day. I'm not certain, though.
Did you try safe mode, and if so, did it help at all?

Well, at least with Lollipop it's easier to rebuild from a factory reset. Guess I'll have to do that too.
BTW, unlike my N7 and S5, I have a fairly minimal install on the N9. All mainstream stuff, and only about half the app count of the other devices.
