I have this tablet and there is no way to make it works the back side 2 MP camera. The android camera app do not have the selection button in the panel that allows to select front/back camera, so only front is showed. The at boot internal testing (in chinese) accesed with Pwer+vol(+) only finds frontal camera, and test it well, but back side camera is not available. Mtk engineering app says that sensor is not available, when trying to test the camera. I have done a restore to defaults from android settings menu, an also a restore to defaults from Recovery menu at boot, but no luck. My Compilation number is V1.01_20150122. I have tried to download a Baidu archive called Taipower P70 3G eight cores (C2B7) -Android4.4.2-V1.02.rar that seems to be the 1.02 version of my tablet, but I have no way con sign a Baidu account, so I can not download it. Any help?
more thoughts...
With the help of the chinese aliexpress shop, I have downloaded the firmware file P70 3G八核 %28C2B7%29-Android4.4.2-V1.02-51FE.rar from a Biudu account that seems to be an upgrade from my current one. Tha bad news is that the file is corrupt in the main component system.img, render it useless. Also includes the flash tool Mediatek SP Flash Tool v.5.1348.0.100 that seems to be the utility to flash the new firmware, also seems to have a read folder able to read internal memory from tthe tablet, but I am a noob and do not want to break nothing using it.
Hi again. I have finally downloaded a right copy of the firmware, using Internet Download Manager to download it from teclast webpage www.teclast.com/tools/pad/putcode.html . Selecting my tablet model, and using my Baidu account. But I have a question before upgrade the firmware. All tutorials for using Mediatek SP Flash Tool states that the battery of the device must be not plugged, but mine is as usual in all tablets, soldered. I think that the right process mut be using the tablet off, but in that way is not recognized by the computer using Windows 7, and tablet only charges its battery. If I connect it with power on is recognized as ADB Android Composite Interface. A curious option is Reboot to Test Mode, then is recognized as ADB Android, but without android running. What will be the best option to proceed to upgrade? The help file includes does not say nothing about it.
root and more problems
Things worsen everyday. Desperate for a solution I try to root the tablet, I found Iroot PC sofware that roots the tablet easily. So I installed other android app that works fine in my LYH M10 MTK8382 quad core, those are busybox pro, Link2SD pro, ES file explorer, SuperSU Pro. But after Busybos install the wifi connection loses and no more wifi was available since then. Wifi find access point (two wifi routers with WPA encription) but stay in connecting without getting an IP. I deleted wifi access points and look for it again, then put the password, but the same happens. The more I have is Getting an IP.... but disconnects without a connection. I have heard about delete /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf , but I not try it yet. The very bad new is that in my desperate, I used Recovey boot menu, and make a Wipe Cache, and also a Restore to defaults, and I am not root now. I try to re-root the tablet with PC software root, but no luck, mainly because there is no wifi to support the process. I have downloaded Iroot.apk and let it try asap, but if it depends on wifi, I am going to be in the same situation. Any help?
Plea for a update.zip for Teclast P70 3G
I would like to have a update.zip file to update my Teclast P70 3G using recovery ability to do this. This is mainly because no OTA update is available, and no way to update thru USB cable using MTK SP Flashing tools, due to the impossibility of putting the tablet in flshable mode. Any help wellcome.
Smashing success!!!! I have managed to flash the firmware. So simple, connect the tablet after you push Download button in MTK SP Flash Tool v5.1352.01, because the included Flash Tool in firmware is obsolete and not works at all with the files (scatter and so). Then the tablet itself stabilize Prelodad driver an charges the new firmware. Of course, new firmware activates the backside camera, and now works flawlessly!!! Indeed the Unknow Error from auto update app from Teclast is now a "Undiscover new version" that at least says that OTA is possible, but no one is ready now. Solved!!! Cojonudo....
This is the firmware and the procedure to make the flash in a help file. Sorry, but in spanish, castellano para que ustedes lo entiendan mejor. Enjoy,

Dear All
I'm a new android user, I just get a new A50 from Australia and try to root it. It's successful with z4root and I try to install Thai font to system. Unfortuantely I did wrong by deleting font folder in the system, therefore I can't run the system again. When I power on, it still have only garmin asus android logo and can't use it again. Does anyone please let me know how to restore or resolve this problem, or I have to throw it away? Thank you in advance.

Android 1.6 or the new 2.1 Eclair update?
It's a new Eclair 2.1 update, is there any solution?
Connect it to your computer via USB cable.
Using ADB, try this:
ADB REBOOT RECOVERY.
If it works, a yellow triangle appears with the green android guy.
Hit the HOME button. A menu appears. Use volume up/down to move through the options. Tap power to select it I beleive.
Reset/wipe to factory is one of the options.
If you need it, ADB is found in the Android SDK.
If that doesn't work, try calling in to Garmin for support.

Dear Spazmogen

ADB is a command line tool. But you will have to get Android SDK installed on the computer 1st.
Read the instructions for installing the SDK here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
ADB commands: HERE.
Interesting. I got into the recovery screen using the Quick Boot app, used the home button to show the menu. The arrows and volume buttons move, but can't actually do anything. Probably related to missing files that are reported in the data/cache/recovery folder.
https://www.garminasus.com/en_US/support/eclair/006-B1130-00.update
official 2.1 update came out today for USA GARMINFONES. Not the A50 Nuvifones elsewhere in the world...
Is the update different from the leaked one?
Sent from my Garminfone using XDA App
I am waiting for an answer to that question myself. I have no plans to change from the leaked version Garmin posted in mid-November.
Sent from my Garminfone using XDA App
Apparently someone did a bit comparison and said they matched. Plus, I tried and it told me it was the same version. On the plus side, I messed up my recovery partition and recovered it using the backups I made of each partition after I loaded 2.1 (dump_image). I made img backups and tar backups of all the files in 1.6 (I am anal about backing up). Good thing because 2.1 doesn't come with flash_image.
I can get into fastboot and the driver loads and stuff, but I get no devices listed when I do fastboot devices command. Next stop is Ubuntu
I know it works, just need to know how to get to it. Btw,I tried both the Garmin fastboot and adb drivers as well as adding the device hardware id's into the android drivers and neither worked.
I also need to find out if there is a similar enough kernel that I can use to get a fully functional recovery mode. I did find out that you can use adb just fine in the stock one and it loads a serial driver as well.
any possible way I could get that backup you made? I apparently didnt save my backup to the pc. And currrently I messed up permissions on my Garmin trying to get recovery working. I cant run the update or anything.
I've just stumbled across this forum post from google, I too am need of fixing my phone. All that is faulty is that the recovery mode has been overwritten with an incorrect one. Is it possible to extract the recovery image and reflash it from the optus supplied Android 2.1 006-B1130-00.update file?
Or is there a way of just getting say Rom Manager to work some magic for me?
Yes, it is possible... would be easier if someone could just use dump_image on a phone that has a working recovery mode and root access. I can provide the dump app and instructions.
Where can I get the Optus update, and are you positive recovery works on it? Does it also have working fastboot?
And to the other poster, which partition do you need? Btw, Rom manager has a permission fix mode. I can get you a tar file if it is the system partition or your choice of img or tar for the others.
And to everyone, after updating to 2.1, do a master clear because a lot of 1.6 apps are left over... duplicates.
Also, odexing all apps speeds it up a lot, with the caveat that you have to re-run the odex.sh file (found somewhere here and modified by me to be more thorough) after every app update or you will get force closes.
Oh I just reflashed the update again, and I got my recover menu back!
I'm not sure if i need any help anymore, but thanks for your offer of help merwin.
By working, do you mean that you can get to it with a hardware key combination and can actually select items?

Prestigio 5588c Rooting Issue
Hello to all.
I have a Prestigio 5588c and I had recently updated it to the latest firmware. I wanted to root this device, but it seems that the new update is not allowing the utoo-root-signed.zip to root it. It keeps failing. I was wondering if there is someone out there that is in the process of renewing the file so that it works on the most recent update from Prestigio.
Thank you in advance for your time and your great work regarding all things that are Android

Hello all,
I have the same PMP5588c_Duo device (4.2.1 stock Build PMP5588C.20131231.1.0.42) and managed to easily root it using Kingo root (kingoapp.com). It's a straighforward process:
download the app and install it on your PC
enable USB Debugging from the Developer options on the tablet
start the app on the PC
connect the table and PC with a microUSB cable
do not enable anything else on the tablet (like SD card access)
wait for Kingo to detect it
it will automatically download and install USB drivers to your PC and show a ROOT button
click the ROOT button, wait for 2-3 minutes, it could take up to 10min so be patient
the device will automatically reboot after the root has been applied
at which point disconnect the device
after the restart check for the SuperUser app, it will automatically install it
Have fun.

help with prestigio multipad 8.0 HD !!!
Welcome. I have a problem with this tablet.
Tablet died after a crash. There is no option to enter a Power + vol +
also does not move with the micro SD card from the system manufacturer Charges start-up screen and that's it. When connected to a PC saw it as m3-chip.
In total, I found drivers in Device Manager I did update the driver for the M3-chip and now the tablet is listed in my device manager as libusb- win 32 device. I found a program that detects such a connected tablet. The program is Amlogic Image Burning Tool v.1.6.2.2. For the time being this my progress stopped. I was trying to upload with this software firmware downloaded from the manufacturer's website dedicated for this device, but I get the message "find no upgrade" and do not know what to do. Can someone help me ??? I'm not an expert, and the above step I got reading the various forums. To my eye it looks as if they fell bootloader, but thanks to the above program to see the tablet (or rather its processor) and now combines where to download a bootloader to throw it out there and then be able to upload the system such as the sd card. Or is there some other program or a way to restore the dead to life my tablet ??? Can you help ???
1. Turn off the tablet (hold the power button and count to 12
2. Insert prepared SD card https://yadi.sk/d/_6VITNSbhKPyi
3. Press and hold the "Vol +", press "Power ON" for 2 sec.
4. Release all buttons and wait for boot TWRP (about 10 seconds)
5. In TWRP select Install -> update.zip
6. Reboot tablet

Hi, I just bought this phone from TECA Mobility, it turns out to be an Alps S5. See attachement for a detailed description.
I tried to ge the root. I tried some different tools, without success.
MTK Droid Tools ROOT button doesn't work but gives a link to xda's MKT forum, so I started with the recommended procedure. I tried to read back the ROM with SP-FlashTools but no way, it doesn't start. I also made some attempts with the Android SDK but adb backup of course doesn't work for the System partition without root.
When I send the adb reboot recovery command the phone goes in download mode, with the adb reboot bootloader command it goes in fastboot mode, while to have it in the factory recovery mode I have to manually hold down the start and vol down buttons. However, it doesn't matter, the readback does not start.
Should I try to install the CWD recovery without having a backup of the ROM? I think it's too risky. I looked at NEEDROM to see if I can find my ROM, but didn't find. I found these, "S5 SM-G900 MT6592", but I cannot be sure it's the right one.
Somebody can help me? I want to root the device.

Hi
1) First root your device using MTK Chopper (from PC) or framaroot (from android app) . Both work fine for MTK phones
2) Then using MTK droid tools backup your ROM. Here is the guide for that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730031
3)Then using MTK droid tools , make CWM recovery for your phone and install it . Here is guide for that

Hit THANKS if it works

I think you mean MOTO Chopper? It doesn't work, same as framaroot. They are old tools, they don't work anymore on the ROMs released after June 2014.
ODIN could work but I have not the sure/right file to download.
Generally speaking, the first thing to do is that of getting a backup of the ROM from the un-rooted phone
The guides that have been reported to work in these cases are:
From XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38337401&postcount=5
From China Devices:
http://www.china-devices.com/Thread-ROOT-CWM-Readback-your-ROM-with-SP-Flash-Tools#
Hereunder is the link to a success case story:
http://www.china-devices.com/Thread-Rooting-new-octacore-S5
There is no way I know to get the root with one-click-tools, there is no case I could find of anybody being able to root these phones by following other procedures.
If anybody knows better, please send me a link (MTK phones with ROM s released after june 2014 only!!!)
My only problem now is that I cannot get the read back with Flash Tools. I have tried uncountable button-pressing combinations, I have put the phone in recovery, download, fastboot mode, I have tried with and without battery, phone switched off or on - no error, but the read-back doesn't start (however my phone doesn't have the USB connection working when it's off or without battery).
The only way to skip this step is, if I had already a copy of the firmware available, a sure one.
Kindly help me if you can
Hi
Odin doesn't work for MTK mate
Try this latest app . It worked for some latest MTK KK phones

Some other KK phones got rooted using vroot and rootgenius
Try your luck
Final option is to read back from SPFT which has 90+ success rate

As bizarre as this sounds, I managed to get root on a similar phone (another MTK6592 S5 knockoff) with MTK tools. After exhausting my options, I clicked the ADB button and tried to get root shell regardless (via 'adb root shell', which probably isn't the proper command but it works regardless), which caused some sort of hang. After a minute or so I unplugged my phone, which caused things to start responding again; plugging it back in showed me as having temporary root, and the get root button actually worked the next time I tried it. I have no idea how or why it worked, or if it was a once in a lifetime occurrence, but it can't hurt to try.
Also, if your phone is anything like mine (and is actually running some form of KitKat), good luck getting write support for external SD cards. I couldn't get the system partition to mount (to write changes to the necessary file) via anything but ADB shell.
Problem solved
Good to know, thank ypu.
However in the meantime I solved my problem.
My phone works this way: I have to remove the battery and connect it to the USB cable. Then it goes in "preloader mode" and tries to install a driver called "MT65XX preloader driver". This driver actually emulates a COM port. If data transfer doesn't start, then, after a few seconds, the device goes down and disappear from Windows list. So it is easy to miss it when we install all drivers. I had to dowload it (from Google cloud service in my case), install and ... the Read Back started !!! Now I have completed the procedure and my phone is rooted with the CWD recovery installed.

Maybe your phone was using firmware dated before june 2014? These was a bug that was exploited by Framaroot, but now they fixed it.
Is your phone also from ALPS? They sold it to me as capable of installing an external 64GB SDHC card, but I cannot have it working. Did you face any similar issue?
Otherwise 32GB cards work fine. Have you tried Aparted app? I use it for formatting/maintenace. This app makes partitioning, I guess it should work.
Also, if your phone is from ALPS, does it really have the ROM memory that is advertised?
I am facing some interesting issues with my phone on this respect. It was sold as having 16GB internal ROM, of which about 12GB avalible for users. In fact, the settings menu shows 10GB ,( 8GB available) of internal memory, and about 4GB of phone memory. Well, if I am correct, this so called internal memory maps to the directory /data (the one highest level in the root), who corresponds to partirtion mmcblk0p7. This partition actually has a size of 2.3GB instead of 10 !!!. f I install and try to run online Nandroid backup, I cannot have it working on paths directed towards the SDcards, but it works on the path data/media. Well, a backup of about 1.2GB is shown in the setting menu of the phone as a memory consumption of about 5 GB !!!
Then I had also hard time in copying this file from the /data directory to one of the SD cards. Root Browser and Root Explorer didn't work, only ES Manager with root rights worked.
Maybe you can give me some advice in finding some tool or SDK procedure to assess what the real total size of the memory is? Or some suggestion on how to fix the ext 64GB card? I got bad feelings with the guys who sold this phone to me, so I would like to collect some more evidence if possible.
I downloaded some applications for making device inspection. They read the manufacturers' data, so they get cheated - even if, in some cases, they can show the right amount of unused memory still available (quite lower than declared by the phone) . Also I cannot see the real size of the RAM memory used by the CPU .
Need stock ROM for Teca g89 mobile.
Hi experts,

Hi see if the link helps you to find the mach of your phone model file:///data/data/com.android.browser/files/kingelon_g9000.mht , you can root it using v root you will need a pc to root your phone.
My Chinese Android car head unit is stuck in a bootloop (the home screen shows but the unit reboots after a few seconds). I got a firmware zip file from the manufacturer (the zip contains files like scatter.txt, ramdisk2.img, boot.img and so on). However, I'm unable how to find out how on earth I can install this firmware and get out of my bootloop.
I have no access to Android itself (the system reboots too soon). There are no physical buttons to activate recovery mode. When I use a USB keyboard I can get into recovery by pressing ALT GR and PRT SCR but after a reset "no command" shows up and I'm stuck again...
Any help please?
Flashing instructions
[Apologies for the lengthy reply, I have to assume that you have no experience in flashing MTK SoC]
Sorry to hear that! I am also contemplating t buy a Chinese Android headunit with GPS but I am still contemplating. Reason being which model to buy? I am an avid Lenovo devices fan because in my part of the world models from Lenovo uses a lot of MTK SoC. (Any other other brand I buy is also a must to be on MTK SoC)
Ok! Now based on your short description I saw "scatter.txt" file mentioned so it is definitely an MTK devices, 100%.. When you boot loop you definitely will not be able to access any function, more so with a head unit that dont provide hardware buttons. I can only help you understand the method to reflash the firmware on MTK devices the rest you have to figure it out yourself.
The USB port is your key here. If the manufacturer did not provide you with USB "IN" (female) port which is not normal and only provide you with USB connectors you will have to decode/or just connect the wiring from the connectors to a USB female Port (which what China manufacturers do at the back of the head unit). There are also head units that provide ready to use USB port on the facia.
Whatever it is I cant tell you which port to use. This where you will have to experiment yourself.
Download MTK flashing tool "SP Flashtool" (find the ones that is suitable upto MTK device 6592 because it should be back ward compatible with older devices) The Chinese dont use the latest MTK SoC for their head units, that is only reserved for the high end heads.
Read up on how to install SP Flashtool on your PC and other accompanying Drivers you have to install, (if you only have a Mac go borrow somebodys Win7 or Win10 PC) there are no Mac SPFlashtool.
Once you have install according to SPFlashtool instructions you read. (It has to follow a certain sequence) e.g "1- ADB Driver" so on and so forth because if you dont follow the sequence it might fail to start the flashing operation. (You will not know it but I am pretty damn sure you will be cussing me).
First read up on how to install ADB driver for MTK devices correctly. Confident? Now try connecting your device to the PC experimenting to identify the correct USB port to use. If the ADB is installed correctly and you got the right USB from the device connected your PC wil give an audible sound( it should unconnected to condition evreytime you test). OK good connection! Only then try installing SP Flash tool and try a dry running the SPFT. If your installation is correct there should be either color changes to the SPFT window because it doesnt detect any devices.
You are good to go! Your MTK Android device should be in the "OFF" condition (after every shutdown there are still some operation running in the background,so it is a good practice to wait at least 5 seconds for it to be 100% OFF.) Run the SPFT fully loaded with the firmware dislayed in the SPFT window. Then initiate "Download" (make sure all indicators is at "download only" do not change this option or you are gonna have a really dead duck.) At this point the SPFT is active and waiting for you to attach the device to PC (before running make sure the PC and device is not connected yet!). If everything is per instructed ADB, USB Cables/Ports, SPFlashTool (download only) you will see color lines in the SPFT Window, wait till the end of process it will display notificatio. If the firmware is correct and you have attached and 12V DC source to the device it should boot up as fresh as new.(provided that the supplier gave you the correct firmware).
A word of advise these cheap head units normally bluff their actual Android version e.g actual KitKat advertised and displayed as Marshmallow. Best of luck!
The zip file attached are screenshots of the flashing process.
Thanks for your very elaborate information, but it won't work. The ZIP I got is an OTA zip file. The scatter.txt inside those zips isn't compatible with the SP Flash Tool.

Doesnt the seller provide you with the original firmware? He only gave you an OTA?? Oh $#it! The OTA file is small probably a few Mb? The full firmware in your case should be around 800Mb upwards. You are right an OTA cannot use SPFT it can only be flash through the original recovery (not custom recovery). If its a popular Chinese model ML-CK1018 or Joying brand ( I assume you bought a Joying? Thats the only brand that release an OTA not long ago) There is remote possibility of getting the firmware.Anyway just give your brand and model number. I will try to look on Russian or Chinese site but no promises! Will try.
But I am pretty sure it is an MTK SoC since you can unzipped and it shows "scatter.txt" file. Most other SoC arent normally in zip format and have scatter file.

The OTA ZIP file is about 900MB.
It's a NAVITOPIA 9 inch 4G LTE WIFI Head Unit with Android 6.0 2G + 32G.
I'm in the same boat, have a plastic bookend at the moment, will not connect to the PC because flashed and formatted my device with the update firmware!!!
Hi everyone. As I said on a former post, I have an Alcatel 1t 7 tablet; I need its stock recovery image, but even stock firmware is getting impossible to find. I mean, apparently there are firmware for that reference of tablet, but what happens, is that there are several models that share the same physical appearance, but have different hardware, so, they have different firmware, and by that reason, their firmware don't work for my tablet. Anyway...
The fact is, looking that its original firmware is not available on the internet, at least publicly; I'm trying to reflash my tablet by using alcatel's tool called "Alcatel Mobile Upgrade", a tool that I don't guess, would be unknown for many of you. So as I said, I'm trying to reflash it with it (and in the process, restore stock recovery, I hope). So I installed MTK drivers, installed the version recommended for this tablet, followed program's instructions, but when I reach step 2 of 4, the program warns me saying this: "Read terminal information failed. Unplug device, remove the device battery and plug it again - Repeat step 2 and try again".
The issue is, that its battery is internal, not removable; even, is soldered to the board. And I must add, that at first, when I bought this tablet and began to "experiment" with it, I was using SP flash tool, and it was giving me almost the same warning that Alcatel mobile upgrade, but later I discovered what that was a fail of the used sp flash tool version. On a webpage, someone recommended a specific version of sp flash tool to fix that issue; I mean, that I could download firmware to the device without having to "unplug battery"; and It worked.
So first ¿How can upgrade my tablet by using that program?¿What am I doing wrong?¿ Which device must appear under device manager, to it can work?¿mtk usb port, Mediatek DA usb VCOM, Android preloader, or which one? And second, ¿Could be this problem, due to alcatel's mobile upgrade version?
let battery drain to make sure device is powered off. you only have preloader mode for a second - within this time pick up in device manager and install preloader drivers.
if drivers installed correctly, first start flashing, then connect phone. flash tool will keep device in preloader mode for the flashing time period

Thank you for replying. Definitely using Alcatel mobile upgrade is not an option, at least to me. I mean, I couldn't make it work in any way. "Fortunately", after an exhaustive search, I could find a post on internet, that recommended for a similar issue, to use Sugar MTK; the publisher shared this program and its credentials, for can use it . So I downloaded and used it, and I could restore my original stock. Now my issue is to port it to TWRP, but now I'm gonna to write a new post about it.
