ROM Suggestion - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone please suggest me a great ROM for i9100?
I used cyanogenmod 12.1 for a while but it still have some problems and ambient display didn't work.
I'm looking for a stable one with regular updates and possibly with ambient display feature.
Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry but these types of threads aren't allowed on XDA. If you wish to find a good ROM you need to try them out and find which one is best for you. One persons favourite rom may be someone elses least favourite.
Please try out some ROMs for yourself and decide.

I just wanted simple advices, apologies.

We'll let you off with this one since you are still a new member, I personally recommend Slimsaber 4.4.4 by Fusionjack for updated and stable rom. You can also use Cyanogenmod 11, since these are the only 2 kitkat roms I know that have been patched for the stagefright bug. I can not input on whether you would call them 'great' or 'best' roms , because it is just subjective (and it is against XDA rules too, as we shouldn't create bias in the development community).
And if you guessed it, I didn't recommend any Lollipop ROMs, this is because I still believe they haven't matured enough yet for our device whereas Kitkat has had a while to stabilize.

Any suggestions for my requirements?

Before we begin: this thread is not about asking for users to comment which is the best rom or which is the worst! I am just asking for suggestions of which roms should I test in order to find out answer on my own.
So, I have had various roms, like neatrom, cm11, omnirom, whatever. The main problem with unofficial roms is instability. So, I am asking for your suggestions which roms should I test out in order to find a rom which is:
stable (very important since most of the roms are very unstable)
as new as possible (talking about android version, not rom's release date)
~good battery life (at least sort of good)
still has support (new releases, updates, etc)
Any ideas?
Recently I have tried android 4.2.2 CM 10.2 stable. It's far from stable: phone sometimes randomly freezed...
Also, tried various kitkat roms. Its obvious why I am no longer using them...
Neatrom / 4.1.2 is extremely laggy (comparing to, for example 4.2.2). So I sort of hate it too.
Rom suggestion threads are also forbidden.
Mod Edit
Word it in any way you like,it is still not allowed.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.

Help choosing ROM

Hey guys,
I know there are many best ROM threads out there as well as many flavors suitable for all needs. Personally, I just don't have the time test everything until I find the perfect ROM.. So I hope you guys can help me choose a good one considering the list below..
I'm currently using CM11 and although it's a great lightweight rom I miss many basic Samsung stock functions (swipe to call, palm to mute, etc..). I also know some apps should solve this but IMO they don't..
So, I'm looking for a Samsung based rom that's:
- easily installed by pc or cwm recovery
- stable and preferably bug/freeze fix free with everything working
- lightweight and widely supported
- although not essential, preferably with nightlies updates
- either s5 or mini s5 based
- android 4.4.2 or higher
And I think that's it. Thanks in advance.
There are not many 4.4 tw roms to try. Best bet would be to read the threads and see what the user's think. See what the problems are ect ect

[REQUEST][SAOSP][ROM]Simple AOSP for OP2?

Hi.
I don't know if this is the right place for posting or not. But I just wanted to share it with you guys.
I was a fan of Simple AOSP ROM on my Nexus 4 back in the day. According to me, it had all the essential features for a ROM.
Now I have switched to OP2. The development of OP2 was very slow in the early stages but now it has picked up pace.
Keeping that in mind, I want to request someone to please build this ROM for our OP2. Since I have no idea or the time to build it myself, I would love to see someone take this up.
Here is the official source code - https://github.com/SAOSP-M

I'm not a developer myself but I do try and flash the roms on my OP2. Not sure if you yourself are a developer so please ignore if you already have checked these, but Paranoid android, Exodus are all aosp based.. and this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/orig-development/rom-aosp-caf-oneplus2-t3386553
I think is purely aosp-caf based.
I don't know if I'm out of line suggesting an alternative rom but, http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/orig-development/rom-halogenos-oneplus-2-t3377799
Similar to the suggestion above but is way more current. June security update, beta 2 released today.

Best ROM threads are not allowed here because they:
A) always devolve into silly bickering
B) are too subjective - what is "best" for one user is not necessarily "best" for another user due to differing use cases
The answer is, try a bunch of them and decide for yourself which is best for you.
I would like to rephrase him if I may, at this moment what is the most stable nougat rom for surnia, in my case. I normally follow the latest updates but I've been away from xda for a while and I would like to know if there is any completely or mostly stable at this moment
For me it's RR. I find it to be more stable than any other N rom out there.

RR is stable with the most features, Slim is the lightest since it has the least features and cyan is dead until Lineage OS is up and running, AOSCP is decent too, the new 7.1.1 update has just been released. Like the above user said, try them all and decide for yourself.

Onyx ROM : AOKP vs LineageOS

Hi,
As OnePlus is not updating anymore Onyx since last november I'm considering installing a custom rom.
For now my choices are on AOKP and Lineage OS.
I want something light but secure.
I don't need billions of features.
Does anyone has experienced both roms on Onyx and could give some feedbacks ?
Thanks a lot !
Regards,
Lineage is simply no go.
I think GZR are most stable ones.
There is a minimal feature build of jdc available on afh you can try that, imo it is the best nougat based rom for onyx at the moment(may change once pa hits the market).
Try Tesla from the thread here if you are looking fir stable 7.1.2 ROM

I will have a look at GZR.
I never heard about it before.
What's wrong about LineageOS ?
Big Update The King SultanXda Might support onyx.
So whenever his N based rom is out it will be the most stable and complete rom for onyx(he is the best dev out there).
I use XenonHD: fast and stable, ok for daily use, no bugs, tristate ok, updated near monthly. About 4h of SOT.
I red that there's network issues with most of N roms for Onyx.
Is it true and anyone has experienced it with GZR?
Sultan is great but...

I'd rather get Tutorials from Sultan than wait for him to develop OPX ROM - I appreciate he is just trying to survive like everyone else.
He's great but I have to be able to understand & do for myself. I can't afford ISP but would pay SultanXda to put out Tutorial Videos using OnePlus X as an example device, so I could learn from him.
Can't wait for anyone, its too dependent better to learn for myself & teach others so they can be independent too.
I went back to OOS 3.1.4 there are too many apps I don't use on it but I like OOS Style just wish I could remove unwanted google apps get security updates on it at least
