I used Kingroot, not Kingoroot
Topic http://www.xda-developers.com/root/ leads to topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-
There I followed their own link to their website; downloaded Kingroot and run it. Everything went smoothly, but when restarted the phone, it lead to boot loop. Now I am completely stuck with it

No success.
- At first the firmware link will lead to same site with broken download links. (I found the firmware from another source)
- Then the Flash Tool 2014 crashes. Tried several times with several settings; like run as administrator etc..

Sorry for translate.google
1. download the utility View attachment unlockbootloader.rar
2. Unzip to your C drive
3. Run and choose unlockbootloader.exe ROOT Your Background

As I can see from your other posts you rooted the 997D with the Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v15 solution. After that you did the system firmware update and you don't have root anymore?
I also updated the firmware of my 997D through my phone settings/about phone/system updates/check for update and after that I first tried to root my phone with the Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v15 utility and it didn't work.
Is there any way to rollback our firmware?

i'm pretty sure the update is preventing the root. Badluck for us then? i know a bit of android, but i'm no developer so i can't make a rootfix by my own

SuperOneClick: Step #7 .. after that, freeze
same here, tried both superoneclick and the binary root, both don't work anymore.
Nice move from alcatel to fix root in an update, if i only knew this before i updated
Also tried Unlockroot 3.0 (which was updated recently) but it doesn't work
ok, found this out, when you shut down the phone, press volume up + power button, phone starts in android recovery mode 3e, any possible chance to get the phone rooted this way?
c'mon guy's i want this phone rooted, getting resolution problems with games (software buttons of ics hide some of the screen) can't start some gps apps because of this stupid software buttons)
anyone dare to try this: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?ldao6p9eyjuu1f9
I'm prepared to even pay for a working root, so if anyone has found a way, pls contact me at pm
Any news on this subject? I love the phone, but I miss the SetCPU profiles I used on my previous phone, and a battery meter with percentage...
Nothing yet, I have tried every available method soc,unlockroot,bin4ary etc and nothing works after the firmware update.
Is there anyone who hasn't done the firmware update and can root his phone? If yes please do a factory reset and take a backup of his ROM and upload.
I guess our best bet would be a port of CWM recovery. Maybe I'll backup the stock recovery and use the CWM recovery builder this evening if I have the time

I'll reply to myself: no way, since you need to be rooted in order to dump the stock recovery. Maybe if someone could try to extract the OTA update so we could examine the files and look if the recovery.img is there...
---------- Post added at 03:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:46 PM ----------
Ok, I have managed to get something.
Following this tutorial by Bruno Martins (a well known rom cooker who's also a user here) I've been able to dump recovery.img from my Alcatel OT-997D: http://bm-smartphone-reviews.blogspot.com.es/2012/04/creating-rom-dump-of-your-mt65x3-device.html
The tutotial was meant for MT6513 and MT6573 devices, but looks like it works on MT6577 too.
Then, I've used that file with the Clockworkmod recovery builder at http://builder.clockworkmod.com/ and now I have another recovery image, which is supposed to be a CWM port for our Alcatel.
I'm still unsure to flash that recovery, since I can't be sure it will work. Mediatek based phones do not have a fastboot mode, so it's impossible to just try a recovery image without actually flashing it. In fastboot mode, you can boot the phone into a custom recovery without actually flashing it, so you risk nothing if it doesn't work
In case someone daring enough wants to try my custom recovery, I've uploaded it to my Mediafire account: http://www.mediafire.com/?7232aj7jhg7l4e5
The idea is that, with a working CWM recovery, it should be possible to flash Chainfire's SuperSU root zip and easily root the phone.
Of course I warn you this could ruin the recovery image on your phone, so don't risk doing it if you're not sure.
ok Guys I'm good at rooting T mobile phones using odin but this is my FIRST Verizon phone, so I need a little assistance here since I have read about 50 different ways to root it and 50 ways that don't work
My os is Android 5.0.1
Baseband I454VRUGOC1
Kernel 3.4.0

Hardware is I545.06
I'm not trying to get a new rom but I would liek TWPR recovery so I can make a complete backup just in case, and I need to remove eth battery eating bloatware
whats eth best way to make a permanent rook on this thing, I'm running Straight talk if that info is needed also
I need step by step designed for an old man LOL
King root from a pc. Then search for supersume or Uninstall kinguser and install supersu via the terminal method. The latter is the cleaner way and paves the way for stang5litre edition rom.
You'll need flash fire. No twrp on TouchWiz lolliopop.
---------- Post added at 10:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:12 PM ----------
BTW after obtaining root, install titanium backup and freeze or Uninstall sdm. That's the over the air updater that breaks root.
Kingroot doens' work on this one. I tried and it failed.
With king root you might to try a few times. I tried 5 or 6 times before it worked for me. Keep trying.

http://www.kingroot.net/ is the official kingroot site. the installer and program for desktop was all in Chinese the last time i checked. remember to turn on USB debugging when you do it. it's basically plug in let it detect your phone, allow computer to do debugging and click a button for it to complete root.
from another thread one person had a some problems rooting with kingroot, if the following happens, you should uninstall kingroot and restart comp before trying again as some people mentioned that just turning the program off doesn't completely reset it

Hi, I'm having issues with step 5. There isn't any green button that comes up. The first time I run the kingroot after reinstalling it, it shows just a blue button after thinking for several seconds.

After clicking the blue button, it goes to this screen: i.imgur.com/wScf2TT.png
There's a checkmark there, but my phone is not rooted. It did install KrHelper4Pc to my phone though.
Subsequent runs of kingroot (without reinstalling) show this after thinking for several seconds: i.imgur.com/HVmqOLm.png
I've tried this several times and the exact same thing happens each time.

I know this is not the best way to do so but I successfully got my G850A AT&T variant rooted using Kingroot 4.8.0.
Also when I boot up the phone, the lock icon turned into an open lock icon with the text "custom." Does that mean my bootloader has been unlocked?

There's no recovery image for it. The SLTECAN is only flashable via Odin which is not possible with the G850A.
Although I think we could get custom ROMs using Flash Fire if someone can port the ROMs to 850A. See: http://forum.xda-developers.com//at...tmas-heres-t3516196/post70011921#post70011921

Flashing 850W TWRP soft-bricks the device with the message "System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been on the device ..." blah blah blah. I think a Safestrap recovery is better suited for this phone.

However, you have given us stuck with the AT&T variant of this phone a little bit of hope, as you confirmed it can be rooted.

And there's an S5 version of Safestrap but it only works with a Kitkat kernel. It might work with the Alpha since they have basically the same specs. I might try it in the future.
Does the Kingroot version matter? I tried this with Kingroot 5.0.0 instead of 4.8.0, and while it seems to initially fail, it actually does work. Verified with Root Checker and Kingroot itself was able to give root access to apps. However, it appears to cause certain apps like Camera (Samsung's) and S Health to fail. Uninstalled Kingroot and everything was working again (albeit unrooted).

I got this device used and it had been updated to the newest firmware. It would not work with Kingroot, Framaroot, SRS, or Kingo. The only option was to attempt to downgrade to an older firmware with unpatched exploits. The Verizon J1 has a locked bootloader so it cannot flash full firmware packages with older bootloaders. Luckily it can be downgraded to older firmware of the same android version with older kernel. I just had to unpack the firmware and remove the bootloader and repack. I tried to make a rooted stock firmware but can't seem to repack the system.img.ext4 properly after mounting it.
Now let's get down to business
1. Download Odin 3.09
2. Download modified (by me) rootable firmware. Do not rename file it might mess up md5sum.
3. Boot phone to download mode. Hold power+vol down+ home.
4. Start Odin and connect phone with original factory sync cable.
5. Click on the AP button and select the firmware downloaded above. It will check the md5sum automatically when it finishes and passes then press the start button. Once the flash finishes it will reboot.
6. Enable usb debugging.
7. Download Kingoroot for PC (google) and let it run. The apk will not work to root. It should install drivers automatically.
8. Profit!!
I'm testing a method to reliably switch to Supersu but having trouble updating binary 100% of the time. I've tried to flash exposed but Flashfire doesn't seem to work properly with this device. If anyone can suggest a workaround please share.
OP, is it okay if I don't have original factory sync cable in hands?

If u want to switch to SuperSu from KingoROOT, the best and easiest method would be backing up ur phone and performing a soft reset. Afterwards simply install SuperSu, the superuser binary is already installed from kingroot - no worries, just update it normally via SuperSU and disable KNOX after the update is complete.
That switch idea of yours might get you bricked
Confirmed it works now we need a recovery so we can just flash su
SuperSUme works really really well lol, this phone is 32bit only any1 wanna try 4 a recovery?
Thxx bro
I've tried porting a few times from the j100h twrp and keep getting a return to Verizon dealer screen. So I'd assume the bootloader is still locked. Im going to try the old safestrap and see if i can't get that working. But im kinda a noob so I'll do my best.
p.s. Don't try flashing any recovery until you backup your current one with rashr or flashify.BE SAFE.btw I've yet to see supersume actually work but hey it could happen. I'd much rather just flash the su from a recovery.

Agreed about flashing the recovery, but you need to be rooted with KingOroot to get SuperSUme to work, & it helps to just keep the screen timeout turned off thru this process , after it says "complete" I downloaded SuperSU & installed, updated, "disabled" knox, & I can also use flashfire although its pretty worthless for anything other than backups, as the little AROMA shell emulator thingy does run after the verizon logo is showing, which indicates to me yea its locked down pretty solid lol.
I tried Safestrap & it gave me a /SS folder in my /etc so I looked into that but I can't manage to figure out how I should go placing the files to make it work lol. But i do know this thing is 32bit ONLY, so compiling the j100H twrp for instance will NOT flash no matter what we do to the bootloader, it will bootloop since the architecture is for a 64bit SoC, we need someone to compile the j100H twrp in a 32bit only compatible architecture, & then you can easily flash it like cake, & TWRP should do the rest like all other Samsung phones O.O
its gotten to the point these are all the apps I have when i restore haha, if you wanna PM me about working together to get this thing a little more flexible I'm always open to ideas . I only use this thing as a hotspot but would totally like to see a recovery at least make it over & from there I could definitely start the ROM bringup

I'll get Xposed another time. I turned off my phone a couple times but the root stayed so that's a plus :victory:

And with SuperSU, is that one more stable
hi,
I have used this resource to try to root my device since i want to install xprivacy lua.
Sadly 4pda is not downloadable for me so i used this instead unofficialtwrp.com/motorola-one-zoom-root-twrp/
Bootloader is already unlocked and then I flashed the recovery.img.
When I enter the recovery the TWRP is sucked and does not even start. It freezes up in the start screen (no buttons at all. just logot the logo and names).
Am I doing something wrong ?
sadly I can not download the one from 4pda since the link is down and i can not speak Russian.
Thanks in advance
I have the same issue. It stops on the TeamWin splash screen, when loading into recovery mode.
I cannot remember where I saw it, but I think I've seen somewhere that the files on uoTWRP is for XT2010, and my phone is XT2010-1, and I'm considering if that's the problem.
Currently setting up Debian on one of my laptops, and will attempt to compile TWRP myself, to see if that might work
According to this link the post is from idiots, who just steal someone else's work and do not know how to do everything correctly, or just trolling people, but most likely just make money from the fact that people go to their site.

Why can't you access the 4PDA site? Try using VPN. Or register on this site.

I can access the site but on every link there I get an error 404 . Register is not easy because of the captcha... Maybe you can help? I need the following files:
TWRP-3.3.1_Zoom_neno-nemo_RETEU_PPHS29.59-51-3.img
Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_01.19.2020.zip
Or any other link, where I get those files or a guide for rooting.
Thanks!
