[ROOT]Samsung Galaxy S2 Wimax Root Guide

Kinda new at this but decided to give it a shot. There are many variants of the SG2 and recently in Japan, AU Kddi released a beast...
As reported by gsmarena.com-"The Galaxy S II ISW11SC has a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm QSC6085 processor, 8 megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording, 2 megapixel front camera, 16GB internal memory, expandable memory, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC."
But being released in Japan there isn't much support for rooting on this phone. Part of the problem is most of its support and forums are in Japanese. After post a thread question, user tora201 showed me the light. He came across a japanese website with a super simple root for this phone. I decided to post it for all of us to use it with some simple instructions. Thanks tora201 for the help. None of this work is mine and all credit goes to the respective creators.
ROOT SCH-ISW11SC Samsung Galaxy S2 Wimax:
1.) Head over to this blog page, http://blog.livedoor.jp/kz_gin/archives/cat_136988.html, and download the two .zip files towards the bottom. They have the labels change_recovery_ISW11SC.zip, and root_ISW11SC.zip...or just use the attachments below...lol
2.) Copy the .zip files to a sd card. tora201 suggested using just an extra one you may have around. Place the sd card in your phone.
3.) With your phone powered off hold Volume Up, Home Button, and the Power Button at the same time until the phone boots into recovery mode.
4.) Using the Volume buttons and the Home Button as a select button, choose the change_recovery.zip from the sd card. (Y'all should know how to navigate these types of menus well, will help those that don't)
5.) Reboot the phone. Now power off the phone again and repeat step 3. Your phone should boot in to Clockworkmod Recovery. The Recovery is now navigated via the touch screen not the keys or buttons!!
6.) Like before go, select install .zip from sd....find your sd card and select root_.zip..then reboot....you should now notice Super User in your App Drawer!!!
Download Root Checker Basic to verify root access. Reinstall your primary sd card and your good to go!!
The only trouble I ran into was when installing the root.zip, it would not detect my external sd card. Repeatedly said "No Files Found". So I restarted the phone, went into the File Explorer, tracked down the root.zip on my external sd card, copied it to my internal sd card. Reboot into Clockworkmod Recovery, tracked down the root.zip through the same steps above expect in my internal sd card. Worked with no charm. Im not a programmer or anything like that, so if you guys have any questions I'll try to answer them the best I can. Thanks and good luck...As always not responsible for any damage to your phone..Come on though, this one is too easy to screw up...lol

Feel free to post some of your Quadrant Standard Scores...i got a high one unrooted...so just imagine what you root magic could do...

yeah but this is a question tread
Thanks for doing Cezeff. I suppose I should probably have posted something myself after I rooted my one. Anyway, glad it worked for you! Been busy as hell perparing for the new uni. semester here.
After rooting I installed 'app quarantine' that allows you to not run/hideany bloatware for the time being. You can keep unwanted stuff in quranteed list when updated as well. Only later when absolutely sure you are sure you don't need it, should you uninstall - or risk permanent instability or worse.
Cezeff, any other tips for this phone? As I mentioned before it would be good to be able to get SMS GO PRO working with the ezweb address. Any ideas how?

Hi, sorry but don't many threads contain questions? Sorry to be rude but what's the difference? Perhaps a lot has changed in the four years or so since I have posted....
If Cezeff buggered up the thread somehow, could you tell him how to turn it from a 'Question thread' into a 'Statement thread'?
yeah i got a few other tips but right now I'm bogged down with training...ill throw some up here later...im still trying to figure out how to get my NFC working...may have to go into AU and ask...
Cheers mate! Waiting for your tips. Hope training going well! Ah, I also can't get NFC going.....
well for one the battery on this phone is already great but Juice Defender is awesome...after 15 hours i had 84%..im pretty sure your aware of that one...it seems after poking around that the NFC is lost after rooting....i tried an NFC Enabler.zip posted by another member for a different variant and no luck...hmmmmm
Cheers. Will give it a try. By the way, you know those programmes that let you quarantine apps? All good until you try un-quarantining. My advice: don't qurantine stuff you think you might need later.
from what i can tell the phone has all the required libs and software expect for the Nfc.apk.....for some reason the one i got from the other thread will not install...i searched around on the web and most NFC cab able phones have the files...
libnfc_jni.so
libnfc_ndef.so
libnfc.so
libpn544_fw.so
Tag.apk + libs
Nfc.apk
the Tap.apk installs just fine...and the other 4 files are present in the system/lib but the Nfc.apk will not install...any ideas?

were you able to make a back up of your system before you formatted your system? are you able to boot into cwm recovery by holding the volume up buttom, home menu button and the power button? try to see if that works and if it doesnt i may have another solution for you...
Thank you for the guide! There are still no custom ROMs compatible with the SCH-ISW11SC (SCH-J001), correct?

Finally Got NFC going on my rooted ISW11SC. Don't know how, but seems to be the result of installing the latest update from AU (LG2) via KIES
Until now, all I got was an spinning wheel and error when trying to turn the function on in the settings. Anybody else have this going?
I just been getting the annoying message top update my phone.did it and kept root! So no harm done! Yeah

[Q] How to access internal storage on Nook tablet after cm7

I just installed cm7 on my nook tablet and I noticed that the internal storage was gone completely. I found something in settings that says "use internal storage" but the words were gray and couldn't be checked off. I found all these other threads that talk about adb and what not... but I'm a complete noob and don't know a single thing they're saying. If you know how to access the internal storage (all of it, not the restricted one that B&N set), pls tell me how in a step by step method. Thanks
Please try searching before posting. There are two threads on the front page of Q&A that address this issue.
And questions unironically belong in Q&A, as annotated by the sticky at the top of this forum.
idk where it is and I really don't know wat is wat... So can u atleast post a web link or pls can someone tell me wat im supposed to do?
Go to the Q&A subforum and read the threads there that address this issue.
can u post a web link? sry im so noobish

Problems with Neo V- will rooting help

Hi,
My name is Achyuta and I am new to this forum.
8 months back, i purchased a Xperia Neo V. While it has been generally good with battery life and call reception, a few months down the line, it developed a propensity to hang.
For some reason, I am not able to move a number of apps to memory card, and the already low internal memory is getting lower. The problem has excarabated post ICS, even after a factory reset. I only have 80 mb free, and phone lags big time when dialer is engaged. Sometimes the screen freezes when there is an incoming call, I cant take calls then.
I have done a bit of reading and now understand rooting helps. maybe i will be able to delete the bloatware and increase my internal memory by partitioning the external memory card.
However, I am completely new to all this, do not understand many of the steps and discussions taking place in this topic.
Will someone be able to help me out here when i go to root my phone, with a step by step guide or some other form of support?
Thanking you in advance,
Achyuta
Please go check out the step by step guide in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409269. Refer to the Xperia Neo V Android Development section under Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo for all rooting queries or perform a search using the toolbar at the top. It seems to annoy the other senior members when you post a question that already has been answered as its time consuming to repeat themselves. I also advise you to further read up on other guides and threads about the problems people run into - the more you read, the more you should understand. Good luck :good:

Also, to answer your other question, rooting could help if you decide to flash a custom kernel and custom ROM. Kernels can increase the speed of your phone's processor by overclocking and some custom ROMs make your phone run smoother by using less RAM/removing bloatware. But before you do anything, please read through instructions thoroughly because if you do something wrong it may lead to bootloops and bricking!

Erisin ES7835US

Hey devs I purchased a car tab from China and I have borderline bricked it. I bought the Erisin ES7835US (ES7835A I believe) which has android 4.04 installed. I hit the reset button and I believe I've erased the additional firmware included. I am able to boot, but it asks me to calibrate and start setting up the tablet as if its my first time using it.
I then notice quickly that I cannot install any apps from Google play, it tells me I don't have enough space. Funny thing is when I go to settings/storage my internal SD card shows all green (full) even though I haven't installed any apps.
My internal SD card is recognized by my computer and I can add and take stuff off of it. Its like android is not reading any space to install apps.
It has ANDROID SYSTEM RECOVERY <3e> and I don't see cwm or twrp available for my device.
Is there anything I can do? Repartition my card? Flash a custom recovery? Please help!! I'm taking all responses and suggestions and I'm very computer savvy, I flash pacman ROM 4.3 for my note 2 daily. Please don't be afraid to reach out and help me...I WILL donate $10 via Paypal to whoever helps me with this.

You ever get this figured out? I posted links (search my screen name) to multiple Erisin ROM's, now I'm just hoping to find a Dev (preferebly in the Seattle area) who can help me install the 7835 software onto my 7035, or at least root it and help me make it somewhat faster, less buggy, etc.
Bump since you're still an active user on this forum. I've posted links on the end of this thread of the firmware you needed - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119778

I flashed a Custom ROM and now my SD card appears mounted as Phone Storage.

Hello, I'm new to XDA and would appreciate some help for an issue I'm having with my phone, I have a Blu Studio 5.0S in which I flashed a custom ROM based on MIUI v5 with Jelly Bean, my phone had a stock Jelly Bean ROM, I don't know if I'm doing the flashing steps right because I am wiping Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache only, even tho, I wiped System too once and the issue persists.
My phone has 4GB storage in 2 partitions, one for the system and the second one is used as SD when there's no SD in, but if I do put an SD in, that second partiton stops working as SD (If I had Apps installed in it, they won't work), and is mounted as "USB Storage/Internal SD", now, that's the normal way it is supposed to work, but when I flashed the custom ROM, MIUI keeps detecting my SD as Phone Storage (The second partition that is useless for installing apps in it) and detects the second partition as Phone Storage, What I want is to keep the MIUI based ROM but having my storage in the right order, otherwise I have a 32GB SD useless and a phone running out of space for my apps. I did not find any help in the threads and I'd really appreciate if someone can help me to solve this problem, sorry if my english is not that clear and thanks in advance.
You won't find much MIUI help here. Not many people really use it and the only ones that work on it are porters.

To be honest Where ever you got the rom from. As the MIUI developers sont deal with bug reports that come from non Xiaomi devices, it is closed source so cant really do a whole lot other wise.

That's what I did, posting the question in the thread from where I got the ROM, just afraid none's gonna reply since the one guy who was dealing with this stuff doesn't own such devide now and stopped testing stuff, I just thought if the problem has something to do with the kind of partitions in one and other system someone would guide me to look for a way to solve my problem by myself.
Thanks a lot Mr. Zelendel, a hug from Colombia!
So... I just found out that this ROM had an App (In mandarin chinese) to switch the Internal Storage and External Storage (SDCard0- SDCard1), and that's one of the first Apps I was uninstalling every time I flashed, I have no idea if this is an App made by Xiaomi or the porter of this
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498992
did something about it, but now I can say this ROM is perfect and works very smoothly on my device.
