Trying to connect Samsung 'Gear S2' with Z3 Tablet Compact - Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Some of you might be interested in connecting these two devices.
As SGP621 supports LTE connection with dialing/messaging enabled, I think these two devices are a perfect match.
Samsung does not support tablet devices on the Gear S2, officially, however.
Blocking the download of the Gear application in Google Play.
I thought there was no reason it could not be done, considering the Gear S2 connects normally with the Xperia Z3 and other Sony devices.
So here's what I tried.
I rooted SGP621 in 4.4.4 kitkat, upgraded it to prerooted 5.1.1 lollypop,
changed the device names in the build.prop, from SGP621 to D6653(Xperia Z3).
After all this work, I was finally able to download and install the Gear app properly.
However, when I executed the Gear app, it just would not find the Gear S2...
Which was very fraustrating, after hours of hard work.
Is it really impossible to connect these devices?
I want to ask for your opinion.
What do you think?
Can you think of anything else that I could try?
Thanks for reading.

[Q] Impossible to initialize with Fit Manager, Xperia C2305

Hi guys.
Finally I wrote here to ask desperatly if there is a way to use my new Gear fit with my phone ,Xperia C dual C2305.
The phone have Bluetooth 4.0,Android 4.2.2,no root, original firmware.
I've downloaded and installed Gear manager Ver. 1.70 and after 1.78, tried with no firmware modification and after tried updating the firmware with version E and after with the last NG2 using Odin.
The firmware process works perfectly,no errors.
The problem comes when I try to connect for the first time the Gear Manager software with the Gear Fit.
I activate the bluetooth, open Gear manager. The app recognize the presence of my gear fit,and pairs correctly with it (if i go in bluetooth manager i see the gear fit correctly paired). Then the Gear fit app stuck at the "connecting to gear fit" screen, and stays here forever,no way to go on. The Gear fit stay a minute with "wating for confirmation..." and after gives error of failed connection.
I'm totally desperate,I don't know why this software won't accept the gear fit even if it pairs correctly in BT manager!!
Now I'm using software ver 1.78,but it's the same with all versions!
Some help here,I'm so angry like I want to launch it outside my window!!!
Today I've tried the gear fit connected to a samsung S4.
It worked and the fit manager has updated the gear fit bios.
after i've tried to reconnect it to my xperia, but I have the same issue,no way to connect it via fit manager!!
I'm using fit manager 1,78
desperate need of help!

The Gear S cannot perform as a wifi hotspot, and I wouldn't suggest it even if it could. Think of it as a shrunken down featurephone of sorts, but with an incredibly small battery.
However, if you are content to use the tab with wifi only, then it can be a good pair.
I had the gear 2 and the tab s. I had the gear manager on the tab and it worked for setup. If you are interested in just setting up the gear you can go this route. You just won't have the connection to your note 4.
Ok I see thanks I have the Tab S LTE and I have a gear 2 I use them together as well I'm trying to eliminate the need for an extra line with the gear S. I would answer the calls and call from the gear S and use my tablet I want the Note 4 to stay connected to the gear 2 unless I can add both the gear 2 and gear S on the note 4. The tablet is the same monthly price as the gear S
unable to pair with tab s
I was unable to pair my gear s with my tab s lte.
Downloaded gear manager, but it was unable to find device.
It did show up under Bluetooth devices, but when I tried to pair that way, it would open up gear manager with an error message saying that it was not compatible with this mobile device or software needed to be updated. As far as I know my device is fully updated.
Looks like I will need a Samsung phone.

Exactely the same here, what a shame, I have a watch I can't use. Samsung Switzerland wrote me, that the Galaxy Tab S is supported, so I don't understand. I hope they soon provide a fix, can't believe it!
Well damn I have a Note 4 and the LTE tab S hopefully Samsung will update the gear manager soon that would be great I don't need three different 2 Year plans

Maybe you mean SET-up?
All I did to pair to Tab3 was install latest GearManager, bluetooth pair both devices normally...the Gear S automatically began the reset process on recognizing the Tab3 pairing request.

I have exactly the same situation here in Turkey, a gear s and a tab s , which connect very poorly and I can not update the gear manager . It tells me that it is not compatible with the tablet anymore. Did you manage to get a solution from samsung Switzerland?
I have my Gear S watch - love it! My Note II finally gave out so I replaced it with the Samsung Note Pro 4G (eBay $350)! Gear Manager is found in Google play but it says that it's not compatible with my device. I found a paid app called Gear Manager for all devices but I'm hesitant to go with this... I've read that some have been able to install Gear Manager on a tablet. How???

No pairing with Tab S

Update on November 10th: With new Gear Manager Update (10. November) now finally it works and connects, thank you Samsung
I bought the Gear S yesterday and wanted to pair it with my Tab S 8.4 (T705). Unfortunately it is not possible, I feat it only works with mobile phones? (even the Tab S is also a mobile phone). Anyone know a promising solution? Thanks!
+1 I d like to know as well I have the gear 2 for now but would like to pair gear S and tab S LTE
Have you tried installing Gear Manager manually? There are videos that show how to pair Gear 1 and 2 to non Samsung devices, maybe it also works for the gear s..

Yes I tried that, at least I changed the Model Number in build.prop (because I don't have to instal Samsung Services because it is a Samsung device). Didn't work out either...Interesting is, that with an old version of Gear Manager I can find the Gear S, but when I want to connect, it only sais "connecting to Gear" for hours...

The gear S should be able to connect to the tab it may show up as a bluetooth device only . My gear 2 pairs to my Tab S LTE/Wifi. That is very odd. Have you tired both gear managers old and new?

I tried that. I see the Gear S as a bluetooth device in settings but when I want to pair, it tells me, that the software ist not compatible. In Gear Manager, I don't find any device. Samsung Switzerland told me, that it is NOT compatible with Tab S at this moment, very disappointing. Hope for a fix, when Gear S is available worldwide. Meanwhile at least, I figured out, that the easter egg trick from Gear 2 (Press 25 Times screen when it wants to pair) works as well on Gear S, so you can use it as a phone wihtout pairing it to a Samsung device.

Hi Cyman,
I have just bought the Gear S from Digitec, probably you bought from the same store.
Very disappointed that it needs a Galaxy smartphone (and not even all of them are actually compatible) for the sync with the Gear Manager app, I found it out later once I got home since the package said that it needs only an Android 4.3 with 1.5 GB of RAM minimum.
I have a Tab 3, also trying to pair: I could install all the versions from XDA but without succeeding so far.
I will let you know.

I'm not sure, what is is that helped. I tried the way from the other post for non Galaxy-Devices, I was able to pair but not to connect via Gear Manager. Then I changed my build.prop to a Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500 and device=Phone) and then I upgraded to the lastet Gear Manager. Suddenly I saw the Gear S as a device and it connected. Maybe you should try these two things? Best of luck!

Waiting for Confirmation from Gear Fit Manager

Hey everyone,
I just got myself a Gear Fit and wanted to connect it to my (rooted and Custom-ROM) S4.
Everything works fine on my (stock) Note 10.1 2014, it connects to the Fit and everything seems to be ok.
I want to pair it with my S4 though and that does not work.
I got the Latest Download from Here and installed the Fit Manager.
It does attempt to connect to the Fit and then when pairing it jst sits there and does nothing. After some time the Fit attempts another connection, however it does nothing after that either...
Does anyone have an Idea?
Edit:
By now I've tried versions:
1.111.1216 (no connection)
1.78.0721 (crashes on connection)
1.96.1124 (same)
and the "Latest Official" from Here (no connection)
Same with zopo 3x
Hi I have the same or a similar problem. With Samsung s3 on cyanogenmod pairing and connection was fine. My gear fit is on newest firmware and I tried all managers from 1.55 to 1.88. My zopo does pair but not connect. Connection screen on phone is waiting forever. No message. The gear fit wait for pair confirmation of phone. Very strange
Any idea? I tried also to delete pairing in Android Bluetooth settings. Same behavior on next pairing.
Disabling "Developer options" helped in my case on Galaxy Note 4 pairing with Gear 2.
No solution for this Problem? Can't connect my gear fit since firmware upgrade :crying:

same problem with the confirmation screen , it sticks on screen " Connecting to gear fit "
any solution for this, i have disabled developer option.
seem like SS did something on their rom. My note 3 connect perfectly with GF when using TW base custom rom(both kitkat and lollipop) but when i try with AOSP rom(lollipop), it have a same problem with GFM. So if you want to use ur GF, u need to stay with TW base roms, GFM work well and no problem with both kitkat and lollipop

Apparently, you need to download the Gear Fir Manager from apps.samsung.com/gearfit not from the samsung app store.
The Samsung app store version does not work, you need to download the latest gear app from the website, gd luck
Yeah it's a bit late but try to get back on Sammy based firmware. That's strange because on lollipop on my Note 4 I couldn't connect to Fit but on S3L with 4.4.4 Note'd 4 software it works perfectly(hah because of Fit went back to S3 )

Gear S and LG G5

Hey, I just got the LG G5 today. I've been using the Gear S for less than a year with my S6 Edge with no problems at all (after changing from the LG G Watch R, Samsung seemed to lock out the old watch with a software update).
I've been trying for the past few hours to set up my Gear S with the LG, but nothing's working. I've tried what seems to be the 2 most popular methods and neither worked. The closest I got was pairing the 2 via bluetooth in the Gear app, the watch said it needed to reboot and factory reset. But then nothing. Just stuck in an unending connecting loop.
The G5 is running Android 6, I've heard that the Gear S has some problems with that.
I don't need full functionality for the Gear S, just call and text notifications (it will do the calls via a normal BT connection but not texts). I use it as a music player as well, but since that isn't tied to the phone, I know I'll have that no matter what.
I've also heard about possibly being able to install Android Wear on the Gear S. Is that possible?
Can someone please help?

Sorry to tell you this, but gear s is locked down to only specific sammy devices. The best option for you is to flash the wear port from the development section. Then you can use it as a AW device... hope this helps

I did see the threads about flashing it to android wear, but if I do that can I still okay music out of my Gear S speakers?
Both my wife and I use it to listen to music work the need for an additional Downe speaker. If it can, then great.
