Chinese Samsung Galaxy S II

My sister is in Shanghai on China Mobile, and she found a deal on a gs2 out there.
However in Canada she uses TELUS, which uses hspa on frequency bands 850/1900 mhz. TELUS does NOT use GSM. She wants to be able to use it in Canada too.
I was doing some Googling and I found that the China Mobile gs2 uses a different technology for their 3G but I'm not 100% sure.
Does anyone know more about this? Please let me know, thank you.

there are 3 types of phone sold in China
Korean version (with the stuff for korean tv, nfc etc)
European version
and Hongkong version.
they advice chinese customer to buy the hongkong version if in the future china get the 4G. they say the european version wont work for it.
that's all I can tell you, I'm dumb with all the technical stuff
Oh really! That is helpful tho, thank you.

HTC Dev for use in Asia

Anyone got the HTC Dev phone? (which is the same as AT&T version) and get it working in Asian countries like Hong Kong and Japan?
Isn't it just a matter of unlocking your sim and buying a local sim in Asia? Also, the frequency would need to be the same. According to the HTC One specs, the following bands are compatible with the phone:
Asia: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz with HSDPA up to 42 Mbps

The post above mine is correct. The dev edition should come out of box carrier unlocked. Its a matter of getting the sim card you need. Custom roms may be an issue though if they dont support the carrier you may have to find a way to enter apn settings manually.

T-Mobile?

I know it won't be officially released in the US but will the be a version that supports TMo USA LTE bands like 71?
Edit. Ok so it looks like it will be released by T-Mobile in the US so no longer a problem

Hi, I purchased a non carrier International Unlocked Oneplus 7T Pro HD1910 phone. Will it function as a T-Mobile phone by inserting SIM card as T-Mobile or do I have to flash any firmware to get the T-Mobile features I'm not talking about activation but features. Are the members of this thread using their phones in the US or just international? Thank you.

Why would inserting a Sim card change the software/software? If you've bought it international, it comes with international firmware.

From what I've seen, and experienced on other phone, there is very good chance you will never get LTE speeds. Definitely not band 71.
I'm waiting for the T-Mobile version.

Wow that's going to suck I guess I'm going to have to return it. The phone's going to be delivered to me this Wednesday. So the bands are a hardware issue not software correct? I thought by buying an international version would be better for rooting. Oh well back it will go. Thanks for the info.
I have got LTE speeds and band 71 on previous Oneplus unlocked phones, so I dont know what the previous poster is talking about. My advice would be pop your sim in and see for yourself before you draw any conclusions.

That gives me hope, but are your phones international unlocked? I would really want it to work. Guess we'll find out. Thank you.
So maybe that will be the difference since at the moment the pro 7t is only sold over seas. Idk. I'd still wait to test before jumping to conclusions about LTE connectivity and speed and such.

If you get a T-Mobile SIM card and have them activate it, either via phone or in-store, the phone should act as their's. My phone (HD1910) does.
There will be an exclusive T-Mobile "OnePlus 7T Pro 5G" released soon.

Hi, thanks when I received the phone I just inserted sim card from Samsung Note 8 into the phone and it worked. Didn't have to call to activate which was pretty easy. Thanks again for the info.

I did the same when I originally bought a OnePlus 7 Pro -- I took the SIM out of my LG V10 to get it working. I was just covering the bases when I had T-Mobile send me a new SIM card after returning the OnePlus 7 Pro and before getting the OnePlus 7T Pro (keep in mind that SIM cards get updated/upgraded and I wanted the latest).
What kind of speed are you getting on Tmobile without band 71?
