Hello,
I was just wondering if this is a hardware error or software error but my screen seems to have a slight yellowish tint, but the very bottom seems more white.

I'd guess it's because of glue which is used to hold screen and glass panel together. Probably it haven't dried yet. Wait couple of days and screen should lose it's yellowish tint. If not then RMA the phone.

So I ordered a OPX on 8th Nov and got it on 10th Nov, What an awesome device with brilliant Display !!!!
Then my cousin saw it and wanted on for himself, so I ordered another one for him on 11th and got it on 14th ...
But when I saw compared both the phones, I realized that my OPX's display has a Yellow Tint
So after the Moto X(gen 2), Nexus 5X ... The OPX also has the same problem ...
I wonder what might be the reason behind this and why none of the company ever commented on this issue before ????
I want all of you to check your device and see what type of display you have, so that we may be able to conclude which one is defective, and if a particular batch is affected .
Here is the information of my 2 OPX :
1.

Month and Year of Import : Nov 2015

Date : 2015.10.21
Yellow Display : YES

Still annoying it being there is the first place tho, it's not meant to be like that. Clearly a defect. Also my QC was 2002N

I've read about a slight blue tint when looking at the display from an angle, in several video reviews.
I've came here to rant as well, bought the OPX and have used it for a few days, mine also has the yellow tint issue on the top half of the screen (bottom half is a nice white). It is visible on day to day use which makes it annoying. Would've been able to live with it if the whole display was slightly yellow but the fact that part of it is and part of it isn't bugs me.
I've seen possible solutions like using a hairdryer of leaving it on the car dashboard but this issue is not my fault-I shouldn't have to go through **** to fix it. OnePlus better do something about it or I want my money back.
I've opened a ticket/RMA hopefully they get back to me early next week.
On a side note camera isn't as good as it could be, sd card bug is annoying, battery isn't great. My LG Spirit served me better to be honest.

Yeah, once the kernels implement colour correction it will be fixable.
Think back to Nexus 4, so many people were running different colour profiles lol
I don't know if it's plcaebo or it really happened. I stay in Mumbai which has a hot and humid climate (40degree is normal for us) and went to a cold place with temperature around -5 degree. I noticed that the screen got a yellow tint but it got back to normal once I got to warmer place. Now it could just be my illusion. Could anyone with some knowledge on this opine on this??

Just got my Titan a day ago and i notice light leaking between the edge of the screen and the frame, just below the back, windows and search buttons. This is obviously visible when using the phone at dark places. I find it annoying, does your phone have this problem? Should i have it replaced? See attached photo...

Just to clarify your response, this problem is normal? So i guess your phone has this issue too? TIA
This was already reported in another thread.
I don't see the issue though; it's not noticeable nor is it detrimental. The real problem is that you can't turn the lights off when watching a video; then the entire thing is distracting.
Capacitive buttons suck in general, except for the cool factor.

I still find it annoying. This is on top of one the Windows logo that's brighter than the rest. Hmmm what to do...
Mine doesn't leak under the edge of the screen, although it is brighter in the bottom half of the buttons, so clearly the lights are right at the bottom. If it's leaking under the screen edge, it would indicate that the screen is not quite seated correctly, so could be worth exchanging. That said, it won't affect the functionality of the phone so it depends if you find it annoying enough to send it back. Personally I think if you've just bought a brand new device at £400 odd then you want it to be spot on - on my first device, the little plastic surround around the micro usb port would come loose, and the headset speaker would buzz at high frequencies, so I returned it and the replacement has been spot on (touch wood). Over all, I would say the Titan is a very well made phone.
I think it is normal.
It is normal. I have it also. Underneath and when my brigtness is low i can also see it below on the screen.

No!!!!
It's normal and already mentioned quite a few times. It would have been nicer to not have just the bottom right to be extremely bright but then the whiteness wouldn't have come out so well. It might have been dull. Hope Titan 2 has a smaller LED.

My Serial Number starts with HT1AXVM*****
Does that mean:
HT - Taiwan

A - 10 (October), using 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C as Jan - Dec
X - 24 (24th day), using A to Z then 1 to 5 as days 1 -31
So mfg date is Oct 24, 2011? TIA!

Just like others here I thought it was normal and didn't think nothing of it however due to a recent screen fault on my Titan, it was sent to HTC for repair now it's comeback fixed, they replaced the whole screen and not sure what they've done but the light leaking from between the edge of the screen and the frame is no longer there!
So I guess it's a case of quality control at manufacturing, you'll either get Titan with this issue or not!

Lucky you, i have a "dead pixel", green one.
And a yellowspot in the rightbottom corner, but that'll fade over time. (i hope)
I'm glad that the screen has a very high resolution, it's really hard to even notice the dead pixel.
I have noticed a yellowish tinge at the bottom of the display. Only really notice it when there is a white background. Is it likely that the display is somehow faulty??

I have the exact same, a yellowish spot in the bottom right corner.
I hoped it was the same problem as the iphone or SGS2.
They say the yellowspot is from the glue that they use to stick the screenlayers together, but it needs time to vaporise and should go away over time.
But I have my phone now almost a week and i still get the spot back now and then.

Hi guys just wanna update you regarding screen issues.
I've spoken with people on the forum of my country, other 2 guys with Xperia S and both of them got that really barely visible yellow tint on the bottom part of the screen (also, one of these guys has 2 Xperia S -him and his brother- and both of them have that tint).
Really difficult to explain it on forums (nothing compared to the GS2 yellow tint) because it's really hard to see and only visible on white/clear colors uniform backgrounds, but according to what I'm seeing it's a common issue, not a problem of a single faulty unit.
Got a blue/whiteisch pixel to the top right of my screen
They said i need to have more then 3 to get a new phone :/`
Can i fix this ?

I have the problem too. I called technical team dept from where i bought the phone, and they asked me to do a screen test over the phone. I tap the screen it shows all white, tap again red, green etc etc. He asked me if i could see a yellowish tinge running across the bottom of the display when these colours appeared on the display which i couldn't to be honest. I took it back to the shop, and i dont know if it has to do with the bright lighting within the store, but it didn't show up hardly at all, barely noticeable. It seems less noticeable in a well lit environment, or outside as opposed to when i am at home where it i notice it more. It is midly annoying, but this shouldn't be the case.
Can anyone throw any light as to what this could be??
Thanks

I believe that yellowish tint has something to do with warmth from the screen or the battery or the screen staying on for a longer time or something or something.
because when I'm using it alot, playing games, browsing, whatsapp etc etc. for like an hour. It gets more visible.
And then it's from "barely noticeable" to "hard to miss"
I can clearly see it on Grey (notification slide down) or Blue (startscreen DrawSomething) or White.

Same here. Interesting what you say. I would still like to know where the consumer stands on this issue, and if Sony themselves would recogonise if this is a somehow a fault with the display. My Arc had no such problems.
Hi guys,
I'm new here, but I was reading the threads on the S from the start.
Reading through the screen problems I was thinking about the following:
The Xperia S's screen is glued- as I know -, like for example the iPhone4/4s'. Some i4 users noticed this yellowish tint as well, and they've came to a conclusion it was because of the glue what was used to put the screens together and it disappeared after about 1,5-2 weeks.
This could explain the reaction to temperature differences too.
VÍDEO
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smsc_wp_YuI
UPDATE:
OK, now it's a widespread issue.
It looks like it could be the glue drying or something else.
Because the issue appears after some days of usage.
Btw, I've returned my phone
-------------------------
I bought the Mate 20 Pro the 18th of October, at first the display looked fine but it's been some days already that I'm noticing a yellow/green tint on the right side of the display that reminds me so much to the problem that happened with the Nexus 4 (it was because of the glue [https://www.pocketables.com/images/....com/images/2012/12/nexus-4-yellow-screen.jpg) ).
And it's getting worse.
It's not just me, another user on XDA and another user on Reddit also said that are having the same issue.
If it's the glue, even if you don't notice the issue right now on your device, it might appear in the next days, as it happened to me.
These are my pictures:
What do you think?
I'll go and return my phone for another one this Monday. And if the new one has the same problem I'll ask for a refund
UPDATE:
More things I've noticed:
After playing a burn in fix video, the way that this issue looks is different, it changes.
Here I took some pictures of the display with a black background:

NEWEST UPDATE:

Then it will probably be the glue
if its glue, its a manufacture faulty batch (lets hope). This even happened years ago with Samsung phones due to poor QA (and for Samsung that's huge).
While highly unlikely, if you happen to find its software related or to do with w/display driver, post it in the EMUI/software problem/fault thread so you can let others know. Also, be sure to get in touch with Huawei and keep us posted on your results.
EDIT 1/11: From what I can read on the first 30-40 pages its moistly screens with LG and not BOE. Its in multiple regions, so let's way a few more weeks and see if the newer BOE batches or wave 2 of the shipments fixes the issue...

I thought that. I've never had a curved like this. I put a black wallpaper on and it's fine. Put a colour one on and you see it
A great way to tell is if you have a white chrome window and then pull the notification shade down it shows all around the notch. I think it's something to do with greys on low light levels?
Yeah greys at low light seem to vary in colour a little, if it's really bad keep swapping the phone. I had to change my Nexus 6P made by Huawei 3 times before I got a good screen. Mine is slightly lighter on the bottom third but it's hardly noticeable so I'm going to stick with it.

Anyone else experiencing this? See attached photo. Bottom end of the screen, pretty much half way down and onwards, colours and get lighter at 0% brightness. Top of the screen is black, like an AMOLED panel should be, bottom is light with an almost green tint. Used a screen test app and can see the shift even more and also navbar burn/retention.
Not impressed.
As I ordered this on O2, via Mobile Phones Direct, who do I contact or do I go to Huawei? Only been using the device for a weekend!

Ok so on lowest brightness in a dark room the darks on xda for example is greyer bottom half of the screen. But tbh any oled I've tried struggle a bit at very low brightness on dark/grey colours. Staying that yours does look particularly bad on the bottom 3rd

At work at the moment and signal hasn't always been the greatest on my office, but hoping when I test speed when I leave and also when I'm home that speeds are decent. Otherwise I may end up cancelling this phone and contract, and maybe I'll see about the Pixel 3 XL on a contact back with Three, or maybe I'll go sim only and get the Oneplus 6T - as the likelihood of getting root for this device is looking slim.....
Wait for 1/11, which ius the AUS release date of the phone and an extra week and see if Funky Huawei offer rooted versions of this phone. The hardware by itself is far superior...it's a same there's a lot of bugs and problems letting it down though...and then there's EMUI...
I've had similar issue on mine but it's down the right hand side.. Three sending me out replacement on 9th Nov when back in stock
It looks like your navigation keys caused this awful OLED burn-ins. Use gestures instead of the keys instead.

is there a way to change the background of the keys? e.g. to overlay on the app thats open rather than display on a white band?

I use gesture this is my second phone. I've a funny feeling its something to do with the finger sensor and the pressure.

Ive got the same issue only just started though which is weird!
if its carries one I am thinking of jumping ship not a massive fan of the curved edges but everything else about this phone wins for me just a shame they didn't keep it flat like the P20 Pro.

have you received your replacement device yet ? and if so how is it ?
So i swapped my first device kinda wish i hadent as the screen was great.
New device has green tint anything below 10% (this i can just about live with as i just raise brightness). However i recently noticed in direct sunlight yesterday that i can barely see screen and it tints purple (yes i have adaptive brightness on)
Now something really strange in bright sunlight when a shadow casts across a white screen , the shadow against screen is green has anyone else noticed this ......?
.
hard to capture properly as spare phone is an old iphone but the green shadow is from my hand which can be observed above , also notice how the white tints to purple.

Well the green tint below 10% i don't experience with my phone.
The other notion/complaint, is just natural properties of an OLED panel, all my previous phones had the purple in sunlight tint.
probably the brighter sunlight reflecting in one of the physical layers of the panel. Nothing you can get rid off unless you want LCD.

Look, the picture you took in sunlight is normal behavior and physics.
The low light low brightness pictures are indeed not normal, indeed should be exchanged for another device!

also, on the first photo I can see black bar near punch hole
exactly the same as on mine.. will probably send it back
Just got new phone July batch , first impressions are a lot less green tint ..... thank god June panel was a joke July panel I think its still there just a lot less this time ... will see later this evening and post picture back.
black bar across top i can see but not to bothered about this in all honesty.
Colours have to admit whites are cleaner as a result but rest look to be calibrated identical to last panel.
I think my first panel dated May was the best colours just seemed to wow instantly , everyone who saw phone commented on display in a positive manner.
** dupe post del
Here, this is how mine looks like at min brightness: green tint and horizontal bar
Sending it back

Seems to be some QC issues, I'd suggest getting a replacement, I can't see any of these issues on my device personally

Might that be because your device is prior to May on build?
I think it’s pointless replacing now I’ve had three models and it seems inherent now from my own experiences.
Do you use dark mode?
Sorry for the questions just trying to get some feedback
I’m only speculating but my latest device also has it my only device which didn’t have it was built in May , I’m wondering if the early batches had good panels for reviews etc and they cheaped out after that to bring production costs down (speculation as I say) but seen this before with other companies.
One thing I’ve noticed on my latest device is it goes a lot brighter than my previous June model. I’m thinking if I want to keep this device, I’m going to have use light mode which is a shame, if we had root we could just black out all the grey parts like status bar notifications etc and mask issue.

not sure about your theory abt early batches; my device's QC date is April 22 and yet I have display issues
seems this type of issues are pretty common with this panel which is used by both Oppo and OnePlus

well that shoots that theory down
I dont think there`s much point swapping its like looking for a unicorn either return and try a device without this samsung panel or find a way to live with it sadly :/

yep, seems so.. a lottery
the thing is that I can see this issue only at very low brightness, somewhere below ~15%
and in everyday use the display is perfect (I anyway always use light theme)
but then again it bothers me knowing it is there
on the fence now:
send the Oppo back (already have return label) and try luck again with OP8 Pro (order placed, should be dispatched tomorrow; I sent back my first OP 8 for a refund due to same display issues)
or just live with it, keep Oppo and cancel OP 8 order...

I cancelled OP8 order that day as I thought that I can live with Oppo's screen. But I can't, so I sent it back today.
Ordered OP8 pro again, it is arriving tomorrow. Will update once received, fingers crossed.
