unroot a dell venue 10 5050 - Dell Venue

Is there a way to unroot a tethered Dell Venue 10 5050? It has had several updates. None of them will install, im assuming due to the tethered root. I even removed root thru SuperSU, still no luck updating tablet. Im wondering if i need to reflash with a virgin setup? thanks for any help

[Q] LG G2x rooting failure

I just upgraded to Gingerbread from Froyo. My phone was rooted on Froyo. I am attempting to root my phone using GingerBreak-v1.20.apk downloaded from the site. I followed the instructions. The rooting process seems to freeze up. I let it run for 30 minutes and finally rebooted my phone. The phone IS NOT rooted. None of my root applications work. I have several applications that need rooting. Can anyone help me? I have an LG G2x running Android 2.3.3. Thanks.

[Q] help with dell streak 5

i recently got a dell streak 5. the device was used by the army but i want to restore it so i can use it for personal use.i woke up this morning and the dell streak turned on and was stuck on the dell logo boot screen. never left there. it has continued to do its boot loop. i tried to flash a new android 2.2 os; didnt work. tried to flash a new rom: didnt work. i also tried to root it using superoneclick, also didnt work. im out of ideas for doing a recovery for the device. i kinda figured the root process would fail due to the fact that superoneclick needs the phone to be on and open to work and authorize but i gave it a go. any more ideas would be appreciated. thanks in advance.
You're able to get into recovery, so the device isn't bricked. You should be able to install a stock recovery using fastboot or (better) Multiflasher. From there you should be able to install a stock ROM. After that, root but do not use SuperOneClick to do so. One click root tools can do more harm than good, so use the recommended methods in the XDA wiki.

[Q] OTA Update on rooted Venue 7 3740

Hi,
I tried to apply the current OTA update on my Venue 7 3740 but after downloading and rebooting I get the red triangle of death and the update is not applied. The tablet boots fine afterwards though so not bricked *sigh*
Before trying to apply the update I uninstalled Xposed framework and did the SuperSU complete unroot option.
An option would be to restore a Nandroid backup to the initial state without root and xposed done via tethered CWM but I would be really glad if I could keep my current setup. On the other hand can somebody confirm the restore from tethered CWM works correctly? I don't want to brick :silly:
Any suggestions/experience concerning OTA on rooted 3740?
Thanks in advance,
slaecker
My rooted 3840 took 4 or 5 times to take the update. I think there was some discussion on this in another thread. Keep retrying, you might get lucky.
I ended up restoring my initial nandroid backup and the update was applied. Now I setup the tablet from scratch.

Dell venue 10 5050 android updates fail after tether root

I have the tablet rooted via tether. An android update came up today. Could not install it. Im guessing its due to the tethered root. So I tried to reset tablet, still no luck with android update. I then unrooted via supersu, still errors on update. I don't know how to do any future android updates. Anyone have any input/ideas? thanks
If you have rooted your tablet, and did not back up those being-modified files, then restore them, definitely the OTA update will fail.

You might need to find a virgin device , it seems that with some devices that ship with lollipop installed updates will fail simply if the partition has ever been mounted rw.
On those devices you have to dd the raw image back to the system partition before doing ota updates.
Not saying its what is going on with yours what's the log say?
im assuming DD has to do with Linux stuff of which I guess I better start learning. I don't have the tablet. Dell replaced it as it didn't boot up. I was lucky. If I only knew what to do a backup, what to backup and what software, etc...I would love to root it again, but Dell has already sent out 3 updates on this tablet. Once I root it, I cant install updates. It reboots to install update, then a android robot comes up on bootup with the dreaded exclamation mark/triangle, stating update failed. I did not keep a log of it. I know windows since 3.1, maybe its time to learn some Linux
Thanks for helping this newbie

Current Root Method for Venue 8 7840?

I am unable to get any root method to work with a new 7840. I have one that I bought sometime ago that I was able to root.
The first one I bought I was able to follow the droidboots steps and successfully get a temp CWM session to flash SuperSu. No such luck with the one that was shipped with the latest firmware.
Has anyone gotten any root methods to work on a newly shipped Venue?
