ER05 - Invalid SIM - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

Am trying to breathe some life back into my wife's S5. We are currently abroad in Korea and haven't used this phone in about 6 months. When turning on wifi calling it says invalid SIM and settings won't show the phone number.
I can use the same SIM in my LG G3 just fine, picks up wifi calling and texting with no problems. Anyone experienced this? Am currently on the newest stock ROM according to SmartSwitch.

The only logical thing I can think of right now is flash a stock ROM when you get back from Korea. There may be a chance that if you can get root access you can flash a stock ROM .zip file using FlashFire by @Chainfire. You have to sign up for beta testing, which is the only way you can get it, but it should bring back some life into that S5. Just make sure to flash the ROM with the SIM card taken out of the phone as sometimes the ROM interferes with the modem file. If it keeps happening you might have a modem issue, which you'll have to flash a stock modem file with Odin.

App: play. google .com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.flash&ah=0eF0qu62YDkorG3iJYUV0QN3FNA
Have a great time in Korea!

[Q] Emergency calls only after flashing a stock rom from a nearly bricked phone

I flashed a stock 2.3.5 rom, using odin after I almost bricked my phone. Upon starting up my phone I immediately got the error that I could only make emergency calls. The strangest part of this is that my service state flicks on and off between in service and out of service, and my roaming switches randomly between not roaming and roaming. My provider is Telus and I have a sim card, and I'm pretty sure it works, I bought my phone from Telus.
My phone is able to connect to Kies.
Upon dialing *#1234# I get
PDA : S5830XWKS9
PHONE : S5830XWKS2
CSC : S5830XEOKP2
This CSC is for Poland, the rom I flashed was set to Poland for some reason, is this an issue? I live in Alberta, Canada, so my CSC code should not be set to this. I found a Telus CSC on this page in post #10, so I might try flashing that rom to see if that resolves my problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390798
I also noticed that the PDA and PHONE last few letters are different(WKS9/WKS2) is this also an issue?
Additional information
Baseband version : S5830XWKS2
Kernel Version : 2.6.35.7-perf-CL654989
[email protected] #1
Build Number : GINGERBREAD.XWKS9
You can see more examples of different numbers when you look at this info, the Baseband version is WKS2 and the Build number is WKS9.
Should I phone up Telus to make sure I'm not being charged roaming fees while I am most certainly in their coverage area? And would it be possible that my imei number is blocked for some reason(The one on the battery is the same as the one in about phone and also the same as the one when you dial *#06#).
Although my phone does work sporadically I really want it to work 24/7 for a number of reasons including safety.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated, feel free to ask me for additional info, I'll do my best to get it.
Edit: My brother has a relatively new Galaxy Ace, also from Telus, exact same settings and everything I want, would it be possible to get CWM recovery on his phone and copy all the settings to my phone and restore my phone to his settings, bypassing having to screw around with all the settings on my phone?
The person in Post #8 on the site below said doing this worked for him(Although I don't understand why he replaced CWM with Ultrajack)
http://androidforums.com/huawei-m835/405469-apn-question.html
Ive also heard that you can remove your sim card and your sd card from your phone, connect it to odin and flash something to restore your phone to defaults, would there be any way to do this?
Edit: I solved this problem by finally finding the stock firmware for Telus here..
http://hotfile.com/dl/137128537/a629597/GT-S5830D_TLS_S5830DTLKI4_S5830DTLSKI4_S5830DTLKI4.rar.html
worked great, just flashed it in Odin, started up my phone and all the baseband, CSC, everything was the correct format(TLKI4), I think this works for Koodo as well, so if anyone has been facing some issues with their stock rom, just flash this one and any errors should be cleared up.
Please try flashing a full package Froyo
Herpderp Defy.
Did you flash a new baseband? On a possibly related note... I have the DTLKI baseband, and it comes on Koodo phones. Koodo is a Canadian subsidiary of Telus. I had flashed a new baseband on and had the same problem as you, it wouldn't pick up my network provider and luckily someone on here had uploaded the baseband I needed to pick up Koodo again. Maybe you're having the same issue? Try going to wireless & networks/mobile networks/ and then network operators. Check if you can find Telus. (if this is irrelevant, I apologize)
Yeah my brother phone has DTLKI baseband as well, do you have any links to that specific baseband? I can find Telus(and also Rogers for some reason), but using the right baseband couldn't hurt.
If I did flash a full package Froyo, could I connect it to Samsung Kies to update it to 2.3.4/2.3.5? I've also read on a lot of sites that Koodo/Telus Galaxy Aces have difficulties if the baseband isnt TLKI4 so if you know of any full package froyos that use that baseband version I would greatly appreciate it.
Well, you'll want to flash the modem with odin. and the modem only. I don't know if it's compatible with froyo though as I've only used GB myself. I'll email it to you. I received it from Kevinlekiller a long time ago. The filesharing site is now removed now though! It's worth a try if you don't have a limb to go on though I guess.
Gonna try it
How did you find that firmware? I looked all over the place for it and finally found your thread!
Gonna try it tonight, my CM makes my gps crash. No fix whatsoever. Hopefully this will restore it.
Worked!
Yay!
by the by, did you happen to lose GPS functionnality while flashing custom roms?
Forget that last question
Flashing back the stock firmware corrected all issues I had and now, all other firmwares are working A-OK.
Currently on ice cream sunday.

[Q] Verizon GN2 NOT working GSM

I have a Verizon i605 that I've been using since around Christmas. I have decided to go to ATT go phone or straight talk, but I can't get the phone to accept a GSM sim card of any kind. Ive tried an H20 sim, 2 different GoPhone sims and a straight talk (att) sim. In all cases the phone will give the NON-Verizon sim error and not allow any calls. I've tried flashing different ROMs and no changes have taken place. I have also tried flashing the radio to no avail. I've searched all night in the forums and have come up empty. Seems like im the only one who cant get any response from the phone in GSM. For the record, the phone is rooted and unlocked, Ive tried GSM only and global modes, I can sometimes get the phone to show signal but get a "phone is not registered" error when trying to dial out. Replacing my Verizon sim results in full working use. Does anybody know anything else I can try? I'm working on downloading VRAMC3 to flash in Heimdall but thought I would reach out before losing my root/unlock. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Add in the APN info and you should be good. The non verizon sim error is normal unless you remove files that make that happen.
Either flash a ROM that has the AT&T APN info like JellyBeans 21 or...
Check out one of my old posts about the AT&T APN info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42953285&postcount=4
I will try to keep an eye on this thread and help out if you need further assistance, good luck.
correct me if im wrong, but wouldnt you lose lte because of the different frequencies?

Ive tried beans 21 and cleanrom 5.0. Ive gitten some network respinse from flashing cleanrom as if it is a n7100 but that is when I get the cannot register on the network errors. It will show a signal from at&t at that point. Im currently downloading the odin file but will have to use heimdall fir the first time to flash it because im now running osx. Hopefully it will work. I dow however think that my problem may be kernel related as I cant get the phone to charge past about 50%. Ive tried flashing beans using several variants of the kernel and havent had luck there either.
Now I can't get Heimdall to recognize the PIT that I'm pulling from my own device or load the odin file I've downloaded. Should the Odin file be in zip format? How do I make it an MD5 file for heimdall?
I am in the exact same situation as you. I have a VZW Note 2 and went to AT&T on a GoPhone plan.
When I first set it up I took my phone in with JellyBeans 18 on it and the manager at the store put my sim in and activated it and set up all my APN info. Try doing that, install any ROM (full data wipe and format) that you know works 100% with AT&T (including kernel) and just have them set it up for you. if it then don't work, you might be looking at a hardware problem with your GSM radio maybe?
All is good. Apparently the sim I was trying to use had a data block on it and the GN2 WILL NOT work with a phone with a data block. I borrowed a friends ST sim and it worked fine. I stressed an entire day over this. Thanks to those who helped. If anybody knows though, I took no OTA update EVER on this phone, can I ODIN (Heimdall) back to VRALJ with no problems? It's the only tar.md5 file i can seem to locate.

[Q] Mobile Network State: Disconnect. Is It Hardware Problem?

Operator: U Mobile (Malaysia)
Rom: 2.3.6(4.5.1.41.MB860.ATT.en.US) flash with CWM using fruit cake rom.
Baseband: N_01.77.36P
Kernal Version: 2.6.32.9 a21`[email protected] #2
Status: Can make call and receive sms. Apn setting is good. Wifi and bluetooth also work fine. Only mobile data state is the problem.
Problem:
1.I got this Atrix last 3 week. When i put a sim card it cannot detect my data so i install TWEAKKER from Play Store and get the setting for my APN. Everything work fine.
2. After a week i unlock the bootloader, install Nottachtrix, and again using TWEAKKER to set my APN, have fun with lapdock (overclock it using faux kernal to 1.45ghz). Everything still work fine.
3. Last 5 days i start play around with Titanium backup and supercharged v6. I backup and remove system application that i think i dont need it. I end up with mess around with the system but since i already made a backup i just restore it to default and then i start notice i lost my data signal.
4. I reflash fresh nottachtrix rom using CWM but the data still disconnected. I try flashing other rom like ICS rom also same problem. And then i flash official rom using CWM (fruit cake method) and RSD method. Still no luck. But today i play around with HiAPN and i can connect to data again but it seem not stable. But i can receive Phone call and sms without problem.
5. I already check my sim card by put it to other phone and i got no problem with it.
Any suggestion what i need to do to make data work again normally?
Update 18 May 2014:
1. I reflash 2.3.4 rom using RSD. Mobile Network State still disconnect. I will buy a new sim with different operator to test either my phone got problem or is it the sim/operator problem. Old but powerfull phone. I hope i got change to use it as daily phone again.
Update 21 May 2014:
Already test with other operator also no luck. Flashing all the radio that i found also no luck. Guessing the hardware got problem but quit confuse because call and sms still can receive.

Not a smart advice, use it as last resource:
Find the radio version your phone have and flash it, or simply flash another radio. Be careful, tough as an incorrect version (not all radios work on every atrix) you may end with a nice hi-tech papeweight

I already flash:
a) Radio N_01.77.30P
b) Radio N_01.77.36P
c) Radio N_01.77.37P_usa_att_12dec2011
d) Radio N_01.100.00R
I found all the radio in fruit cakes link except for D. Still no luck. Is it a problem with my phone? I can receive call and sms normally. Only data not work and i believe my APN setting is correct.
Already call my operator services and they also can't help. Today will try another sim card with different operator that i will borrow from my friend to check either i need to upgrade my sim or not.
Still hope to get any expert help from XDA forum
Any expert? I got iPhone and windows phone but nothing can beat this atrix+lapdock.

Hallo miogy,
this is a well known issue,
i am experience the same problem with my atrix 4G,
i recently flash the CM9 of CyanogenMod , (android 4.0.4),
before that i had the 2.3.4 (GB) - in this version my atrix had restart himshelf every day.
on the current version (CM9), i experiencig strange things with the Network.
this is not only us that experiencig that - it is a very common and wide .
its called RIL bug (RIL --> Radio Interface Layer),
my phone can work fine 2 or 5 ot 8 hours, and suddenly the data connection disconnected.
i even once had connected to a Mobile Carrier that is not mine.
as much as i understand till now, this RIL bug is caused of a bug in the Kernel, adn the best guys here in the XDA, are trying to solve it.
i am waiting to this solution very much, because this atrix 4g is great phone, and i like the CM9 also.

[Q] All around issues

Alright guys, this is gonna be kinda long so get ready. I was running stock 4.4.2 NEW and I saw that there was a way to get GPE 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 rom working on the s4. I followed all the instructions on RickGrimes's post and wifi didn't work. Not and big deal. I couldn't soft reboot, so I tried flashing gogolies nc2 wifi fix and this modem worked. I then tried to update to 4.4.4, also following the instructions and the wifi didn't work once again. I flashed gogolies nc2 wifi fix again but it did not work. I also realized that I had no service at all and that I couldn't send or receive any messages or calls. So I did the safe thing and used Odin to get back to stock. I am currently running stock but the service is still terrible in places where I usually get great signal. Also, my wifi strength seemed to go down from what it usually is. Another issue is that my contacts that were backed up in backup assistant aren't there anymore at all. I generally know what I'm doing when it comes to this stuff but for some reason I have no idea how to resolve these issues. Any help will be appreciated.
Reolved

The easiest way to fix your phone or any phone for this matter is always to download and flash the stock tar file of whatever version of Android you were last on in Odin.
Then visit towelroot.com in your browser on your phone and root it again. (Don't forget to enable usb debugging first)

I wound up going back to stock 4.4.2 via Odin, but the problem still persisted. I figured out the my network settings were changed to Global instead of CDMa/LTE. Changed it back and all is well! Thank you though!

Need help please!

Hi everyone. I'm having some serious (or at least I think so) problems with my I777. I live in Colombia, and I bought it over two years ago, had it shipped over by a friend, unlocked. Up until today I'd been using it normally, without any major problems.
However, the last couple of days it started behaving strangely, (turning itself off every once in a while, losing data, etc), so I decided to update my rom today.
I tried to install a new CyanogenMod 4.4 from this site, but I got some kind of status 7 error and it didn't behave properly after that.
Next thing I did to try to fix it was flash a stock JB 4.1.2 rom via Odin.
It worked, but that's when the major problem struck... Apparently my phone got locked for AT&T again or something. It's not recognizing my sim-card anymore. It shows the "no-sim" notification on the top bar, yet it also shows it has a signal (no data, just phone signal), even when my sim-card isn't inserted. When I go in the settings to try to access the mobile networks it says insert sim card even when it's in there.
I did a lot of searching and I used GalaxSimUnlock, which I got from this site too, and it confirms my phone is unlocked.
So basically... What the heck happened?? Is it possible that after three years of using it perfectly with my Colombian sim, the AT&T lock just "came back" or something after flashing a stock rom?
Any clue guys?
If you used galaxsimunlock the unlock is permanent.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA Free mobile app
After you flashed back to stock, did you try to root again and flash another custom ROM?
I could be wrong on this, but the AT&T stock firmware may not be giving you the choice to register the SIM or change the APN settings for you particular network. I can't confirm this though as I never flash to stock long enough to actually use it. I always root and go back to something else immediately afterwards.
The only suggestion I have is to go back to a custom ROM and try again.
If you are trying to go to KitKat, be sure you have the newest compatible recovery (CWM or TWRP) as the versions of those that work with JB will not allow you to flash a KitKat ROM. There are plenty of threads that will tell you what versions you need. If it's an SGH-i777 model then all you should need to get the proper recovery is to flash one of the two KK compatible kernels as the recovery is packaged with them.
Good luck!
