Hi, i'm a new Xperia m4 owner... I'm a little disappointed with how the phone performs in games and some general lags here and there. I'm wondering if there is anyway to fix the lag... i'm new to phone modding and stuff...
Root and ondemand governor ?

Is it safe to root a phone? and is it possible to revert it to normal later?

Most of the time no way of unrooting.
But some phones can be flashed with a unrooted rom.
I have heard something like that.
But M4 rooting needs unlocked bootloader which means you cannot update from sony pcc after unlocking bootloader. but a future android upgrade firmware could be flashed from flashtool by androxyde.
i like rooting,but i don't like unlocking bootloader.

Dont think there is any sgp321 fw earlier than 253....
So there would be no way to root this model then i guess

I think you can root the tablet if you unlock the bootloader. If you want root currently on the 253 version, you can unlock the bootloader and install cwm recovery. I have not done so, maybe someone else can confirm.

Confirmed.
Unlock bootloader.
Flash DooMLoRDs CWM Recovery and boot into recovery an you'll get root as a side effect. Make sure you flash a Superuser zip....
I just read abut it this morning and am contemplating unlocking, the only thing stopping me is the loss of bravia engine after unlocking with no way to get it back. Im not bothered about the warranty.

you and many others (me for example.) seems like many of devs havent got sgp321 in hand so they're more focused in sgp311 and312. I've mentioned before there is paradox for sgp321.
# You can backup Ta partition for bravia engine 2 and drm keys.
# But you cant do that without root.
# You cant Root (yet) without unlocking bootloader.
# With bootloader unlocked you'll lost DRM key and BA2 forever. (you cant flash others TA partition you'll hard brick the device).
I've asked a question in QA if the mods can make three subforums for SGP 321,311 and 312 so that people wont flash wrong tft or try flashing wrong firmware in wrong device as every Model is reffered to Xperia Z ( I almost flashed xperia Z phone's firmware to SGP 321) its just disaster waiting to happen.
The naming convention used by sony itself is a bit strange when i try to google xperia tablet z related stuff i get xperia z stuff same with youtube. its tough finding guides. In terms of marketing it seems like an odd choice too. Xperia z and xperia tablet z can be confusing for daily consumers despite one being a phone and another a tab

well actually there is but from xperia z smartphone (it was 10.1.A.1.434 before came update to 10.1.1.A.1.253 ). Furthermore smartphone has the same hardware as tablet (Wifi+LTE), the difference seems to be only in screen size, and camera. So if you take the risk you can downgrade to .434, get root and the update to .253.
Hi
I'm on .510 and I just got done reading through a bunch of rooting threads and had a some questions.
From what I've read you cannot gain root access if you upgrade to .257.
If I root it now, then upgrade to .257, will my root remain intact? I have screen sensitivity issues and want to upgrade, just trying
to find out the best way possible and be able to unlocked my bootloader, and achieve root.

Question for you. Im having trouble upgrading to the latest firmware version. Are you already on version 14.1.B.2.257? If so, whos is your carrier, and how did you go about getting your update?

From reading your thread it looks like you lose recovery.

No, I'm on .510 but I got the message to upgrade to .257.
If you're already rooted on .510, install OTA Root Keeper (from the Play Store), then update to 257. You should (if everything goes well) still have root when it's done.
This method (with OTA Root Keeper) did not work in my case.
My Ultra has already rooted, I received the OTA update, but the update refused to install.
Every time I tried to install the upgrade, an unknown error occured and the phone restarted.
Finally, I succeeded to upgrade the software with root using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46803343#post46803343
hey all, sony xperia noob here, been reading the forums but i hoped you wouldn't mind a quick question. i got a C6802 that has .257 on it, and it still has warranty until late February 2014. is there a way to downgrade without unlocking the bootloader, then root(again, w/out bootloader unlock)), and then update back to .257 and keep root with one of the methods?
or should i not even worry about the warranty? on the phone they said unlocking the bootloader does void the warranty, but you know, they have to say that i'm sure. thing is, i figure there is a chance i could exchange for a replacement if i find any quirks.
thx in advance for any info/advice.
Okay so i just got my c6833 ultra today and its on 4.2.2 currently and i got notified asking if i wanted to update it. Should i take that update ? and also how do i root this thing ? and does rooting screw anything up like what would happen if i unlocked the bootloader ?
In my opinion 4.2.2 was already very decent. 4.3 just brought some overall smoothness to an already zippy device.
4.2.2 is easily rooted too, but 4.3 requires that you unlock the BL (losing X-reality in the process). Think there's someone here who was able to root his locked BL on 4.3, too - you should check that out.

How do we know if you should take the update???
Things to note:
You will need to be on .532 of the firmware to root using an exploit
Root following the guide that is stickied in the general thread, also read the back up TA thread
.290 (4.3) is easy to root if you have an unlocked BL
Hey guys!
One more question: Is it possible to root my Xperia Go without unlocking the bootloader? So I could do root without losing warranty, is not it?
And if it fails to root without unlocking the bootloader, there is possibility of transferring the Xperia Home 7.0.A.0.14 for my Xperia Go without root?
Thanks and sorry for my bad English
You must be root to change your Xperia Home, and about root, there's a DooMLoRD exploit root method somewhere, just use search button

Any android device can be rooted without unlocking the bootloader, but if you root your device, you will loose your warranty.
(According to Sony terms and Conditions)
Use flashtools for rooting and unrooting.. Without concerning bootloader.

I would start off by reading this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775411
Thank you bro
I think installing DRM backups and relock bootloader can be enough
