Screen replacement by samsung - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So to top my already chappy day off I've just dropped my ecig on to my phone right onto were the screen starts to curve and low and behold it's cracked.
Does anybody know how much Samsung will charge to change the glass? The phone still works fine so it will just be the glass that needs replacing.
I've taken a look on how to replace it myself but I don't feel Co. or table doing it so I'll get them to do it depending on the cost.
Thanks

$220, 200 for part/labor and 20 for shipping in the USA

Dropped my galaxy s3 screen cracked what are my options?

Jumping out my truck in a rush with s3 in hand it slipped and fell flat on the screen. Screen cracked right in the middle all the way through ... Is my only option to buy a new phone
Ouch.
Its repairable but its an expensive repair as entire screen + digitizer assembly needs to be replaced.
Parts are available: http://cnn.cn/shop/samsung-i9300-galaxy-c-26_1412.html
You might want to ask local Samsung repair centre for paid repair quote. Might be very close to the cost of part and might make better sense to get it done through Samsung directly.
didnt you use a case or screen guard? if so you did a big mistake you can take it for samsung service center and ask them to replace it, but they will charge for sure..

No, you have to replace the screen... there's a video on youtube how to dismantle SGS3.
Or, you could probably still get $400 for it on eBay. (If you're not the type who attempts to repair things on your own...)
Man I feel for you. I dropped my phone yesterday, it landed on it's face and has marks on the screen. The first thing I done was phone my insurance company and swap the details from my old s2 to this one .. I know I will do it again .

you didnt mention if the sreen was funtional, is it?
id just keep it if it was still functiional. it looks weird when off but barely noticeable in the pics.
just another opinion. of course if its non functioning that option isnt there lol
Damn s3 so breakable. I remember when i had s2 and note, it felt from my hands a lot of times and no scratches or broken display
I got a Squaretrade warranty for mine -- $69 for a year and covers accidental damage. (Doesn't cover loss or theft though...). They also charge a 99 dollar deductible, but that's still better than the almost $700 I paid for it to begin with.
A quick reminder, buying insurance on something after damaging it, then using the insurance to repair it *is* fraud, which is illegal, don't get us in trouble m'kay!

the important question is who is the lovely lady?
SGS2 & SGS3 screen
Samsung used the Gorilla Glass for SGS2. But for SGS3, they used the Gorilla Glass 2 which is much thinner than on SGS2 that's why it's easily breaks. For me, I will stay on my SGS2.
looks like i'll be buying a case for mine seeing all these posts about screen breakage. but until I find the right case, at least i have 90 days of lost & damage protection from Amex!

Yes, sell that crap phone and buy htc one x, which is much more durable

Screen damage is not the end of the world.......i have been looking at tear downs for the SGS3 and they are pretty basic, even replacing the screen ( which will prob end up costing where abouts of 249 dollars) but that over trashing a new device. i have dropped my sgs3 3 times in the last week and the silver bumper looks Hella Ratty, but my screen is perfect.
i am going to buy a replacement screen as the housing and the screen are joined together, or else i would really need to do some heat gun and gental pulling of the screen to get it out of the housing. but its not hard yall.
if your screen is cracked and you dont have warranty, maybe a screen is the way to go. all you need is small screw driver and a flat metal/plastic peice to pull of the board connections.

are you serious? with gorilla glass or gorilla glass 2, theres always the risk of cracking the screen when it falls on a hard surface. you cant be serious that thats the reason why your sticking with your s2

Cracked my screen, best screen repair option

There's a seller on ebay selling just the glass for the white model for $26.68. If your digitizer and screen are ok, this is by far your best bet. Even if your phone isn't white and you want to stick with blue, you'd be better off switching the rear cover to white and selling it as a white model. And buy another blue one.
Full screen assembly is $230, which is close to what Samsung charges to replace it.
How high was the drop? Did you have a case on it? Just curious questions...since this phone seems to be fragile due to the large screen.
When I called samsung they said they didn't have a price for the repairs, how did you find out how much they charge?
And also the fall was kinda far onto cement. I was getting out of the car to put gas in and the phone was in my lap and it fell.
Also i had a case on it. The ROCK cases btw i love the look of the case but the screen cracked directly where the case didn't cover the phone which was the top
Someone in the US with an international phone cracked theirs and sent it in.

Screen replacements from eBay (AMOLED or normal LCD?)

I'm in need now of a replacement kit for the cracked screen. So far I've understood that I need to buy a kit like this in order to replace the bad screen.
(LCD+Digitizer Screen +Bezel For SAMSUNG Galaxy S 2 i9100)
Anyone knows if the screens that are sold on ebay are the real AMOLED screens or just some pirate crappy LCD screens?
IF so, perhaps you have a good seller that sells me the real thing?
(Tried to search all the i9100 forums for this but couldn't come up with something)
If you get that one youll have to change over all the bits that are stuck to the old housing.
As for eBay,Id look for someone thats sold lots of them with 100% feedback and use Paypal....

I'm in the same boat, but because of water damage. The right side of my screen doesn't respond to touch. Soon as I sell my car I can replace the screen.
I will likely be getting mine from a local retailer though. Will cost a few more bucks but I'm paying for the certainty of getting the right component the first time.
And the requirement of reassembling the phone isn't a problem for me

[Q] *CRACKED*Screen* What are the Options?

DNA fell out my shirt pocket, landed on the edge and of course shattered. First drop ever.
There's glass on Amazon and ebay for about $15
Then there's glass and LCD together about $70
I've seen the videos and read the articles and they're somewhat conflicting?
How difficult is it realistically to change the screen myself AND get it back together.
I also had the idea of using it to a repair facility at the mall.
Question is address those prices reasonable for a quality screen?
What's the best way to fix the phone reasonably?
Glass and LCD together is what you want because of the design. The glass and LCD basically become a single piece. If you do just the glass you may have issues with the LCD not properly adhesing and therefore appearing further from the glass. Sometimes the digitizer will have issues after that. Best to spend more money and get both pieces pre-constructed.
Sucks dude, i did mine yesterday. First drop, BAM, right on the corner. Shattered it. I got geek squad at best buy, way better than assurion. No deductible. Broke screen, throw out some sim card issues, brand new dna on the way. Its on back order thougg. Not here in 2 weeks, get free pgone equal or less than dna full price. Geek squad well worth $10 a month!

I'm going to order the screen/LCD combo and try it.
Been debating options and i'm keeping this phone until at least November. I'll take photos.
Best thing is cut losses short and send to HTC. I think it was $220. If you do it yourself more likely than not you'll end up with a bad result, functionally and/or cosmetically. I took my phone to ubreakifix.com and after taking it back twice, they gave up. Sent to HTC and they said the main board was damaged, etc and wanted about $350. So just do it right the first time.

I hate to say it but it's not worth $200. They can be found going for less than that on CL in my area .
I am worried about the fitment going back together, it appears from the videos I've studied buying the lcd/glass combo and taking time is the most critical step.
Besides. I've found white screens and a white battery cover! This is hot! I don't like the red buttons but they're better than the red side rails on the DNA. I don't mind losing wireless charging.

I know right.
Got the white lcd digitizer assembly from ebay. You must still separate the old lcd from the plastic housing. I used super glue to bond it. I love the white with black and am thinking of removing the red side grills.

If you don't mind losing the wireless charging apparently you can lose the red rails too.
I'm looking for all the bits to make it white. The sim tray and the ear piece insert are hiding from me.
I got lucky.. my screen was cracked too so I took it to my sisters friend shop and they charged me 50$. He ended up ordering the wrong part so he sent it to HTC and I got my phone back in a week. He felt bad about ordering the wrong part so he didn't charge me anything. Only bad thing is that the usb cover is ripped off

This may be in hindsight but your next phone purchase really should be at bestbuy if your in the states, and just buy the 2 yr black tie outright (its cheaper in the long run). It covers literally everything (even water damage), and will be replaced within 72 hrs most of the time, it is a refurb, but $0 deductible and no limit to amount of turn ins.
@jake.corey.jacobs I bought this off cl a couple months ago my Galaxy Nexus camera and CPU was showing its age taking and editing photos.
It's sounds stupid but in the last 3 years I've dropped my phone twice! I only have the "extended insurance" in case of a malfunction. I have full insurance my wife's and daughters lines.

All good, I use to be a GeekSquad agent and have to admit, their phone insurance is NOT a ripoff (like most of their services). So I always like to share the info about how the plans work for people who are drop happy.

I removed the side grills and the one in the ear peice up top a while ago. The removal of the side grills made for a better grip when running the phone naked IMO.
How hard was the switch from our screen to the white one?

Cracked glass repair

I dropped my tablet and cracked the glass on the display. Besides the crack in the outer glass, the display and touch input both work just fine.
I've noticed replacement glass on Amazon for about twenty bucks. A local repair place says that doesn't do the job; the display needs to go to a place that can refurbish the display and laminate new glass, at a cost of about $175 USD, with another $110 for the shop to remove and replace the display.
Is this legit? If it really is that complicated, does anybody know of a reliable shop that will just do the whole job my mail, hopefully for less money?
Thanks.

Your better of selling the tablet and taking the hit and pick up a new one, as it's a huge job replacing the glass only!
Also, the screens alone are £300+ and you can't get any local shop to replace the glass only, as you need specialist tools it's no small task but if you’re looking to repair it, the quote you been quoted is pretty fair!
I know it’s too late but why on earth didn’t you purchase a case for your tablet? I’ve got the supcase on my Tab S6 LTE amount of times mine has gone flying across the room I would have had a shattered display and shattered rear glass but thanks to the case not a mark or crack!

Sorry for you. In case it is only a single crack - have you thought of only putting a protective glass above it? That way it is sealed and might be less visible. Maybe you want to share a picture.

The crack is almost invisible and I can't even feel it, but it's annoying that it happened. A local repair shop is sending the screen in for refurbishing when they have several orders lined up.

UPDATE: Sending it directly to Samsung turned out to be the best option. It was a total of $280, including an upgrade to two day shipping.
I dropped it off at UPS on Friday, it was received on Tuesday, and I got a notice that the repair was completed today (Thursday, Christmas Eve). Even with holiday delays, I should have it early next week.
At that rate, it's about the same price as a year of carrier insurance + deductible.
