Succeeding fw updates caused more problems than improvements.
Rapid Battery drain issues
Wifi connection issues
Reboot looping
Audio player forced closures
White screen issues
Sluggish performance
UI fluidity update caused screen transition jerkiness
Deep sleep issues
Tethering issues
Very limited in going back to previous fw's
etc, etc, etc.....
And what about all the stuff that was defect in 2.1.0.8?
All the things you are talking about have effected a few users and thousends have never heared of them.
Wifi is mostly connected to the router ( ok that stupid >10channel thing coming back now and then ).
Batteriedrain is in 99% caused by the use of some software that doesn't let the tab sleep.
UI, if you stay with the std launcher there is no help. This is the same for every Android device, that's the reason why every rom has some other Launcher included.
Otherwise everything you talk about is fixed .
Is you glas half full or half empty?
Have you even considered that you are doing something wrong?

Again, if you are happy any firmware updates since 2.1.8, what are they specifically and why?
I never upgraded my 101 beyond 2.1.08 because it was stable for me. I did briefly play with a tablet with a newer firmware and didn't notice any issues.
I am still on 3.2.61 on my Gen tablet because it is working for me and none of the changelogs have mentioned Bluetooth fixes, which is my main issue.

Do you know this page:

Here's another questions:
Why do some users stick to the old times, while others live on the bleeding edge of daily updates?
I am happy with the updates, and i don't know any reason why not to do it.
The only thing that i miss sometimes are the working mpg codecs in the 2.3.81 firmware.
Have fun!

I usually take the first two or three updates immediately after release. If my Archos is working fine, then I usually wait to see what others say before updating after that, unless it is an OS upgrade or there is something in the changelog that fixes an issue I have. One of the reasons I wait is because sometimes you can't downgrade the firmware if you have major issues.
i lost usb mouse
Hdmi viewing has always been a pain but with a ussb mouse i could gey around. Now its gone! So is my extenal keyboard.
This sucks.
on samsung ics roms, the touchscreen sensitivity is much worse than gingerbread. this is very noticable in the game draw something, but also in general scrolling as well. i am on XXLPH and havent tried XXLPQ yet, but i think AOKP had an option to change sensitivity. is there an fix, or way to increase the sensitivity, or do we have to wait for kernel sources to be out first?

I too have noticed a reduction in creen sensitivity with ICS. Sometimes having to double touch the scrren to get my touch targets... Rather anoying, but I'm slowly getting used to it but am wanting a fix....
Well, i'm not using ICS, but here is a little app, which can help you out.
This is NOT MY APP!!! Credit goes to whoever made it. Unfortunately I've downloaded it 4-5 months ago, so i didn't remember where did i get it.
App can be found in attachments.
You need root to use it. Tested only in GB.
Sound lika a typical "quality fix" where an issue a for a small number of persons is fixed and creates an issue for many more persons. Because there were probably some people that complained about a too sensitive touchscreen.
The problem now is that many more persons are annoyed instead because the touch is not sensitive enough...
Samsung really need to do a better job with their updates, there are so many thing they do wrong. The fact that they doesn't even publish any change logs really shows how bad they are in handling updates.
Better communication and dialogue with their customers is the key to sucess in the long term.

I want a rom that fixes the gps on the cross c1. It doesn't work on the one I was sent.
I have ordered the UMI Cross / C1 from iShoppstore and am expecting delivery just after Christmas. I am aware the problems people have had with the Chinese smartphones regarding the Wifi and GPS connectivity but I believe for the most part these are fixable and have been documented elsewhere. So it is with interest that I await to see what problems I will have with mine. I did see some newspaper article that UMI were going to start selling their smartphones in the UK.... http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/business/news/umi-smartphones-to-launch-in-the-uk-29610580.html Not sure if this article is to be taken seriously though.
It would be nice to get the KitKat upgrade for this model though I doubt this will happen any time soon. I am very curious if you have resolved the issues you had with the Cross. Can you let me know how its going for you and what problems you've had as I'm sure my phone will be the same.
Cheers
The GPS is really finicky. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. But, it never has worked throughout a complete trip of more than 10 minutes. I've had several other smartphones before this, some from China, and never had a GPS problem before. I guess it's just my time to experience what others warned me about. Still, I'm hopeful that a rom will be put out in the future that will resolve the GPS problem.
I'm finding the screen is not evenly lit but for me this is not a problem unless I look for it and most of the time you only notice it on a white screen. On Christmas day I spoke to my family using skype using the front facing camera over wifi and it worked flawlessly. Later on we did a test comparing the Sammy S3 and prev gen iPad front facing cameras and the C1 was definitely better. Tested bluetooth to link to home stereo briefly to play music on device, absolutely no problems. There is supposed to be a Yamaha sound chip but I can't make up my mind whether sound is better compared to my Note 1 when playing MP3s.
Call quality is better than my now broken Note 1 for sure and the 2G and 3G I really can't fault. Used the 3G quiet a bit on Christmas day as the house we were visiting did not have wifi and with the exception of some periods downloads were really pretty good. Haven't tested the GPS enough to pass a fair verdict. I did use it when I first got it and it jumped around a bit in Gmaps but I wonder if that was down to the fact I had put my 3G sim in the wrong slot so had no mobile broadband
Finding the phone is quiet slippery and the size adds to the problem so am eagerly awaiting a silicone cover for it. One thing I've noticed is when I turn the phone on the pattern unlock screen is a bit sluggish and I have to re-enter to unlock.
Anyone found any english manuals for this phone?

Using this phone since last week, build is just enough, nothing to impress neither to disgrace. I tested this phone for 2 days on stock rom, on stock ROM everything is working as it should but I do have doubts about wifi regarding link dropping. sometimes blurry camera, and just before I made my mind to switch to custom ROM, I did observed some random reboots. then I switched to LEWA OS 5. used it for another 2 days, NFC gone, blurry camera, Large icons. Finally I flashed MIUI, working great since then, still no NFC though. camera a bit improved(I rarely use mobile camera). after using Xposed modules=>app setting with per app dpi. results are impressive. this app really justifies the big screen and gives that most required tablet ui feel to apps. even some battery calibration issues are there, battery still produce awesome results throughout all ROMs. with heavy very usage battery lasted for atleast a day.

Not had any problems at all with Wifi or random rebooting, so maybe I'm just lucky. How does the NFC work is there an app on the phone to use it? Camera in low light is not good at all but a software upgrade should solve that. Will have to have a look at the Xposed Additions in the app store, wasn't aware of it before. Do you have a link for the MIUI rom for the Cross C1?
Overall I have to say I'm happy with the phone too and that big screen is great!

NFC works great but on stock, you can use trigger app. MIUI for c1 don't support NFC for now, as far as WiFi I am not confirm with issue..it may or may not be there..random rebooting started after connecting USB. But solved later by new ROM, camera is real let off for the phone. It may get better by ROM upgrade.
Use needrom for miui ROM with CTR recovery, and xposed 2.4.1, it worked for me...
About size, no one really notices the odd size of the phone. That's does qualify for nice design...
Overall its great for those who want phablet tablet in between.

Have you tried this rom and if so would like to know what you think. I imagine its as efficient as the MIUI5. Can you resize the icons on MIUI5 or can you use Nova launcher to do that. Would like to give the MIUI5 a go but will wait until I come back after holiday as I've more or less got my stock phone the way I want it and everything is working fine. Like you said I don't think the stock rom is very efficient but its fine for now.
Hi everyone. I received this phone in Ireland yesterday from antelife.com,(they have a bad rep, but are UMI official resellers and I had no problem with my order). I have rooted and kept the stock rom, and installed a custom recovery from needrom.com. I also installed xposed and gravity box. I have had no problems other than 3 times now my screen has gone haywire registering rapid phantom screen presses. Battery pulling is the only way to solve this temporarily. Has anyone else got this problem? Also how do we go about setting up an XDA section for our phone?
Thanks,
Teamick5
Touch wood no problems so far with my phone. Not properly tested yet is the GPS or NFC. Happy with the stock rom but am looking to flash a custom rom from needrom but will leave that for another few weeks. What do you think of the sound quality when playing music through headphones, not sure what to make of it? Camera quality especially in low light is pretty poor and in daylight jury is still out. Overall happy with purchase. Bit peeved of to find out warranty is void if not bought through an official retailer, all I can say if this phone goes south I won't be buying a Chinese replacement if they are going to be like that. iShoppstore where I bought mine do say on their website they would give a 1 year warranty so who knows!
Cheers
Tried my headphones today and there is a bug whereby the loudspeaker plays swell and won't auto shut off. Battery life has been excellent, unplugged yesterday morning at 8 and it finally died just after midnight in the pub. That was with constant heavy use all day and data on as I have no WiFi at home. I have also found an lenovo app called "lesafe" running in the background. I cannot enter it, what is it?
negative experience
speaker volume not loud enough and poor high pitch sound.
battery percentage erratic. when at 14% usage very long until 10% (i watched movie 1.5 hrs then 7 hrs standby, it died when i was listening radio and waze gps on). beyond 10% it dropped almost instancely. sometimes after reboot battery shows double!
can get into cwm recovery 1st few times but not anymore.
good points, camera/video, after gps fix very fast lock
yeah there should be a thread on umi cross.

okay, just go to google and copy and paste below

then go to that link>go to the field box on the top to search and paste again and press the button on the right to search, you will get the result and click it and it will take you the website.
So I am hoping it is official release from Umi Cross.
I just got an Umi cross and found some trojans on the device so I want to flash a new rom onto it but I'm not sure what to flash or how
I can't even get into recovery D:
please help!
Hey guys.
So I love my pocophone and the latest beta update (i'm actually using Xiaomi.eu Rom) does seem to improve a lot with the phones touch lag issue; however, I still kept getting some stutters during scrolling and in particular vertical scrolling. I believe this might be due to screen response times mismatching with screen refresh rates. I believe so because if I dragged my finger at relatively slow speeds (approx 7.5 s to go the entire vertical length of the screen) across even a relatively small page (my app drawer for example), the page would jump as if it didn't track my finger for a split second.
So things I did without much success:
1. used other kernels: franco and extreme (extreme kernel with 65 Hz screen refresh rate was a bit better though)
2. changed animation speeds. (also turned off animations)
3. turned off mi optimizations etc.
Today I found this old forum post on xda (https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/mod-increase-frames-5-14-15-t3108786). The author changes the egl swap interval to allow better screen refresh and fluidity. I am not an actual developer so from what I read, it seemed like it might be a decent thing to try. I didn't flash anything however I used the terminal command "setprop debug.egl.swapinterval -60" as suggested by author. This won't stick past a reboot but I think it did help with scrolling smoothness and fluidity.
I was hoping you guys could try it and let me know if there are any differences for you guys.
PS: Again, I'm just tinkering and trying to see what happens. Hoping to get some input from others just in case what I see is placebo. Didn't have any negative effects and I hope you don't either.
I really want to buy this phone but if the "stable" update does not correct all the touch issues (which i strongly believe it is a software issue), i won't buy it.
Of course you have that right. But a few things. Firstly, the phone is great, please use it for a bit to experience this. Secondly, I am being knitpicky and actually most people are reporting no issues whatsoever. In fact, this post is about the fact that I am not currently seeing the stutters. I am wondering if it's because of the changes outlined above and was hoping we could figure out together. Might even be that something else I changed corrected the issue. I just didn't realize it then. Lastly, if you're looking for the perfect phone without any issues, you might have to look away from "flagship killer" type phones. These phones typically give performance that comes at the cost of tiny issues. So are you a fan of the best bang for your buck, the highest highs of performance at the cost of minor tradeoffs that you can work with an active community to fix. Or do you want a perfectly smooth experience. At this price point, you don't really get both.
If the command has helped you you can set the command to run on startup. And try to use a stable build.

The touch issue is not software issue. It has been partially corrected through software, but it will never be fixed. If you want to buy a poco, be sure to search one from December batch because it has the Focaltech panel which is ok, and not the Novatek panel which is the ****ty one.

No, no problems at all.
There is a new update that is told to fix the screen issues. Has anybody tested it?
Just bought the phone, and I love everything about it except one, the touchscreen, I rarely type incorrectly, and I can type fast with my old phone, but with Poco F1, my typo frequency is WAY too much. I found that if I slow down my typing, it will be way faster. (ironic right)
Currently I'm on latest global rom, is changing rom has any effects on this issue?
Try turning off navigation gestures and stick with buttons, tell me if that improves typing.

I turned off the gestures, the problem persists.
It lags so much that when I try to type 'this' it register as 'tsih' or something else
You can either try flashing miui beta, or wait for the next stable update (coming soon) which claims to fix some issues.
As the phone is new for you, it might take some time to get used to the touchscreen response etc.
I had the same problem in the beginning. However I've accustomed to it. Don't get me wrong, the touch panel is definitely the culprit, it's just not as good as some other phones.
Edit: If you go the custom rom route, most roms have updated touchscreen drivers compared to the stable ROM.
install latest global beta. touch drivers were improved.
but the problem won't be fully solved, just mitigated.

AFAIK, installing through updater will format everything (even your internal storage). Other way needs unlocked bootloader, and doing that will wipe everything anyway.
I'd say wait for a few days and check the upcoming stable.

yeah I really regret buying this phone, I never knew that people got this touch issues :crying:
mi 8 has one cons for me, no headphone jack, but if I knew this, I wouldn't have mind that at all.
I guess I'll just flash some custom rom and try which one has the best touch, I'm not patient enough to wait this out
the only time I had touch issues was when I had a protective glass on the display.
It is fine with display foils but not those "9H superduper strong tempered glass protectors". Double tap to work was hardly working, gestures annoying and typing missing out on characters. Though it looks like you have something else. It just lags and doesn't leave out / skip letters as far as I understood.
On latest open beta, the touch issue still persists. But it only happens when typing on the very edge of the screen. Only then it will register the touch with a small, but noticable delay. (and I'm quite sure it's a software/firmware issue.)
But else, I think the screen is responsive enough for fast typing and playing too.
It is not that awful right now.
Edit:
Proof that some software issue is present:
I recorded the screen with touch overlay while typing on the edge.
Pay attention at the letter popup, as well at the blue cross (touch overlay)
- in the middle of the screen, both popup at exact same time, they are in sync if you will.
- at the Edge, letter pops up with some delay AFTER the blue cross already proofs touch register.
This however was recorded on an older MIUI version.

When typing slowly, I also found no problem, but when I type fast, sometimes the first input will be registered after 3rd or 4th input :silly:
Franco kernel reduces this issue almost by 60-70%
Mind if I chime in with another touchscreen issue?
While I haven't experienced any typing lag, I do experience the occasional touchscreen freeze. I'd be doing something and all of a sudden, the screen just doesn't respond to touches at all.
I'd have to lock and unlock my screen for it to work again (sometimes). Adding a tempered glass protector helped a bit (before that, 50% of the time it was because oil and sweat from my fingers would get stuck), but the problem still persists.
Does anyone else have such issues?
