Just bought the phone, and I love everything about it except one, the touchscreen, I rarely type incorrectly, and I can type fast with my old phone, but with Poco F1, my typo frequency is WAY too much. I found that if I slow down my typing, it will be way faster. (ironic right)
Currently I'm on latest global rom, is changing rom has any effects on this issue?
Try turning off navigation gestures and stick with buttons, tell me if that improves typing.

I turned off the gestures, the problem persists.
It lags so much that when I try to type 'this' it register as 'tsih' or something else
You can either try flashing miui beta, or wait for the next stable update (coming soon) which claims to fix some issues.
As the phone is new for you, it might take some time to get used to the touchscreen response etc.
I had the same problem in the beginning. However I've accustomed to it. Don't get me wrong, the touch panel is definitely the culprit, it's just not as good as some other phones.
Edit: If you go the custom rom route, most roms have updated touchscreen drivers compared to the stable ROM.
install latest global beta. touch drivers were improved.
but the problem won't be fully solved, just mitigated.

AFAIK, installing through updater will format everything (even your internal storage). Other way needs unlocked bootloader, and doing that will wipe everything anyway.
I'd say wait for a few days and check the upcoming stable.

yeah I really regret buying this phone, I never knew that people got this touch issues :crying:
mi 8 has one cons for me, no headphone jack, but if I knew this, I wouldn't have mind that at all.
I guess I'll just flash some custom rom and try which one has the best touch, I'm not patient enough to wait this out
the only time I had touch issues was when I had a protective glass on the display.
It is fine with display foils but not those "9H superduper strong tempered glass protectors". Double tap to work was hardly working, gestures annoying and typing missing out on characters. Though it looks like you have something else. It just lags and doesn't leave out / skip letters as far as I understood.
On latest open beta, the touch issue still persists. But it only happens when typing on the very edge of the screen. Only then it will register the touch with a small, but noticable delay. (and I'm quite sure it's a software/firmware issue.)
But else, I think the screen is responsive enough for fast typing and playing too.
It is not that awful right now.
Edit:
Proof that some software issue is present:
I recorded the screen with touch overlay while typing on the edge.
Pay attention at the letter popup, as well at the blue cross (touch overlay)
- in the middle of the screen, both popup at exact same time, they are in sync if you will.
- at the Edge, letter pops up with some delay AFTER the blue cross already proofs touch register.
This however was recorded on an older MIUI version.

When typing slowly, I also found no problem, but when I type fast, sometimes the first input will be registered after 3rd or 4th input :silly:
Franco kernel reduces this issue almost by 60-70%
Mind if I chime in with another touchscreen issue?
While I haven't experienced any typing lag, I do experience the occasional touchscreen freeze. I'd be doing something and all of a sudden, the screen just doesn't respond to touches at all.
I'd have to lock and unlock my screen for it to work again (sometimes). Adding a tempered glass protector helped a bit (before that, 50% of the time it was because oil and sweat from my fingers would get stuck), but the problem still persists.
Does anyone else have such issues?

Hey guys!
I have a small favor to ask, and I figure this is probably the best place. I was wondering if anyone with the Note could open up a quick text message with Swype on and try something for me.
When the keyboard pops up, take your index finger and swipe back and forth very quickly on the letters. You don't have to type anything specific, just go back and forth fast.
Could you let me know which of the two scenarios occur?
1) Nothing happens until you finally stop swiping and when you do, you get one long word and/or a message saying that it wasn't recognized; or,
2) You get a bunch of small words that are being entered WHILE you're going back and forth.
One of these two have to result, and I found some inconsistencies with the touch screen today.
Thanks <33
Both occur depending on speed when I go at the speed I would have used on my Captivate it breaks it up into little words (used swype for almost two years so quickly) but when I slow down it works normally. I found this issue out when I first got my phone and sadly had to switch from swype as I cant swype near "full speed".

Ok, so I'm assuming that you're saying your Note is affected by this as well?
I ask because I was in the vicinity of a few other Notes today. The issue was confirmed on 2 out of the 5 devices. You could not force the Swype to break on the other 3 no matter how insanely fast you swiped. I have a feeling the issue is a little more wide-spread that I had originally thought. Swype is literally unusable for me in this state, I can't swipe nearly as fast as I'm used to, and it causes me to actually type way slower than I'm used to because of it. I have a replacement on the way, but I wanted to dig a little into the problem in the meantime.
Edit:
I wanted to add, it doesn't matter which rom I'm on, which version of Android, or which version of Swype. I've tried it all.
I don't have any issues on mine. I do use the s pen tho. Pretty damn fast too. Quick question though, do you usually Swype back and forth whilst typing etc.

Swiping back and forth is just a surefire way to reproduce the problem. For someone that swipes fast, it makes the problem a real issue. A friend of mine on an unaffected Note tried using mine to swype and he instantly recognized that he wasn't able to.

Yes it also affects my note making it impossible to use swype. I figured this is true for all notes. And same doesn't matter it simply doesn't work though it may be my screen protector do you have one?

I'm on DAGr8's A2 and I'm using Swype version 3.26.92D.38303.t0.8611.ENSP from the International Note forum.
Edit: I have had the short word issue in the past on GB on the Note. I hadn't tried it on ICS yet. Just out of curiosity, and only because I just did this, what happens if you boot into CWM and format cache (not dalvik). It's the option under mounts and storage -> format cache. I did it just before this because of the CWM log errors on ICS.

Sounds like you have a good Note.
I've formatted the cache partition about 40 times since I've had the Note. My problem persists through all of that. It was an issue with the stock GB, and DAG's ROM, and the ICS roms that I'm testing now. They are all the same.
I am envious of you. Hopefully my new one will work right.
Other tweaks I've made since upgrading to ICS has been to reduce my animation transitions to .5x (from 1x) and reduce VM heap from 256 to 128.
Just trying to think of any little thing that might help for some reason.
Edit: also have 2D rendering forced on in developer settings.

Edit: interesting. just tried the same using my finger instead. get short words a lot. sometimes none, but often it starts breaking it up. So I think someone else reported this same finding so it must lie somewhere within that. To me though I hate using swype with my finger. Unless I just washed my hands there's way too much drag to swype quickly. With the s.pen I can go twice as fast and oddly enough this issue does not appear.

Yep, that's the issue. I dislike using the s-pen for Swype, but that's totally a preference thing. I can go as fast as I need to with my finger, most of the time.
There is a variable here somewhere. You are inflicted with the same issue with your finger that a couple of us have, where I've personally tested this on two Notes where I could confirm it wasn't a problem. I hate to just think it's some flaw in the touch screens, but I don't know what else to try.

I'll have to flash up again later. I'm currently testing an unannounced and unreleased ROM so I have to be careful which heavily modified files go out.
Are you on GB or ICS? I'll go stock later, confirm that the problem is still there, then I'll upload it.
I'm on ICS.
And I'm curious what you're testing...
Hi, I noticed quite annoying screnn flickering on my Speed 7. It is not on all screens. With rom from karl (galaxy v2) it was just on screen with one dominating blue (eg blue screen with a bit of white text). Later I updated on ROM from ghost v3 and the flickering got even worse. Now, I cannot even tell any pattern. Some screens are flickering the similar one is not. I tried to find some tips for this, but havent found anything useful. Anyone experiencing the same problems?
Hi, with the custom rom v3 by ghostv45 i had this problem too. But only on high brightness setting. It is definitely noticeable.
I went back to official Stock-Rom. No more flickering.
Well, I gave that a try. I have to say it is better with the latest official rom, but not solved completely. I can see it in some cases as well, but as I said it is much better, so I assume this might be some driver issue. Lets see what next updates bring.

Hello everyone
I also reflected this bug despite having updated the terminal last rom available that introduces the screenshot with a swipe three fingers.
I'm doing this in this issue Zopo Italy since I got the terminal, but without a response we can say that (.... we will send the report to the technical department, we'll know, etc)
What do you advise me to do, there is a stable ROM for this device?

Other bugs found with the latest ROM, and that the Bluetooth headset in the lock screen is bypassed PIN.

I havent tried any custom roms as there seems to be battery drain issues judging by comments. Im quite happy with miui, everythings working fine and fast, just this one little bug. I think its kernel side issue, but cant confirm that, as we dont have any custom kernels available.

bro i just installed the 9.1.10 beta and the problem has been partially fixed....
this problem is there in another Xiaomi phones... such as Mi 5s Plus series....
The problem is software related, not hardware. I installed Paranoid Android together with arter97 software collection and the issues with touch responsiveness is gone. Bad thing however is that native gestures is lacking and that the tablet is no longer certified. However the first issue is a minor one, I installed FGN and it functions the same as miui rom's gestures.
Hey guys.
So I love my pocophone and the latest beta update (i'm actually using Xiaomi.eu Rom) does seem to improve a lot with the phones touch lag issue; however, I still kept getting some stutters during scrolling and in particular vertical scrolling. I believe this might be due to screen response times mismatching with screen refresh rates. I believe so because if I dragged my finger at relatively slow speeds (approx 7.5 s to go the entire vertical length of the screen) across even a relatively small page (my app drawer for example), the page would jump as if it didn't track my finger for a split second.
So things I did without much success:
1. used other kernels: franco and extreme (extreme kernel with 65 Hz screen refresh rate was a bit better though)
2. changed animation speeds. (also turned off animations)
3. turned off mi optimizations etc.
Today I found this old forum post on xda (https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/mod-increase-frames-5-14-15-t3108786). The author changes the egl swap interval to allow better screen refresh and fluidity. I am not an actual developer so from what I read, it seemed like it might be a decent thing to try. I didn't flash anything however I used the terminal command "setprop debug.egl.swapinterval -60" as suggested by author. This won't stick past a reboot but I think it did help with scrolling smoothness and fluidity.
I was hoping you guys could try it and let me know if there are any differences for you guys.
PS: Again, I'm just tinkering and trying to see what happens. Hoping to get some input from others just in case what I see is placebo. Didn't have any negative effects and I hope you don't either.
I really want to buy this phone but if the "stable" update does not correct all the touch issues (which i strongly believe it is a software issue), i won't buy it.
Of course you have that right. But a few things. Firstly, the phone is great, please use it for a bit to experience this. Secondly, I am being knitpicky and actually most people are reporting no issues whatsoever. In fact, this post is about the fact that I am not currently seeing the stutters. I am wondering if it's because of the changes outlined above and was hoping we could figure out together. Might even be that something else I changed corrected the issue. I just didn't realize it then. Lastly, if you're looking for the perfect phone without any issues, you might have to look away from "flagship killer" type phones. These phones typically give performance that comes at the cost of tiny issues. So are you a fan of the best bang for your buck, the highest highs of performance at the cost of minor tradeoffs that you can work with an active community to fix. Or do you want a perfectly smooth experience. At this price point, you don't really get both.
If the command has helped you you can set the command to run on startup. And try to use a stable build.

The touch issue is not software issue. It has been partially corrected through software, but it will never be fixed. If you want to buy a poco, be sure to search one from December batch because it has the Focaltech panel which is ok, and not the Novatek panel which is the ****ty one.

No, no problems at all.
There is a new update that is told to fix the screen issues. Has anybody tested it?
Okay so I know there are at least 3-4 types of same threads but I didn't find any solution yet.And most of them are closed.
Basically I've recently bought poco f1 for pubg. Updated it to latest miui indian version available i.e. 10.3.8 installed pubg but when I enter in the real match, the screen becomes unresponsive for like milliseconds when there's an enemy around. In training mode it works just fine.I have to hard swipe to make my screen turn around. This problem doesn't exist on my redmi note 7 pro so I'm assuming it's not a bug from the game.
Also I've tried multi touch tester app and I do notice ghost touches.According to many threads disabling 3 fingers swipe gesture will majorly fix this but the problem still exists for me. Although I did not encounter any ghost touch issue in real usage but it still exists.
Here are the things I've tried till now
Tried custom roms like pe and lineage os problem still exists.
Tried many custom kernel like frenkel and sensational (sorry if I misspelled).
All were compaitable kernel and roms.
Tried miui with custom kernels.
Disabled 3 finger swipe gesture.
My screen panel is Nvt-ts (Heard this works fine but mine doesn't)
Most of the developers are not talking about this now but I've searched hours for solution bht didn't find any.
I'm just a newbie at these things so sorry for any mistakes also pardon for my English.
Hoping for some permanent solution.
[EDIT]
So after trying a lot of roms and custom kernel. This is the only solution I've found yet.
Go to play store and download a app names touchscreen repair.
This app helps to increase or decrease the touch sensitivity.
In my case it seemed as if the touch my a bit over sensitive.
So I intentionally hold the touch a bit longer and made the app to decrease my touch sensitivity by 9ms.
This made my crosshair jump alot less than it used to be.
95% of my problem is solved now. This is the best I could find.
P.S. I'm not a developer so I don't really understand how this app works. I used terms like sensitivity so I could explain my issue
Hope this helps...
Bro use fransco kernel I'm also a pubg player and hacker of pubg mobile use franso kernel this may work for u
Maybe you're reffering to franco kernel? Btw I tried franco also(From frenkel I meant franco sorry my bad). I have nothing to do with hacks or whatever, just want to run the game smoothly.
Many threads are there on mi community forums regarding the same but almost all of them are dead by now as users bought new "phone" or something as they couldn't find the solution.
Does golbal rom solve the issue? (Any ideas?)
Hoping any senior member would help.
Please!!
Try to install 10.3.7 EU much better miui experience pubg working better on eu than global miui u can try and which touch panel u have is also important btw I'm having nvts panel fk solve the touch issue on my poco yes I'm having touch issue on every single kernel bt not on FK use r29 or above
I'm on 10.3.8. Is there any way to downgrade back to 10.3.7 ? I've heard downgrading not easy due to anti-roll back protection? Any ideas?
Simply install 10.3.7 eu its like another custom rom bt they have updates like miui all the miui featers and better miui experience
its the damned pubg coz whenever i have touch issues with pubg, i shift to call of duty mobile and such issues are gone.

Can you please tell which do you use to manually select gpu's frequency?
I can set a range of frequency from minimum to maximum.
I don't go over the 675MHz and minimum of my gpu is 257MHz try it and then tell me if it's working or not bt in my case I'm using fk kernel

Many users are facing this but still no solution.
I tried literally everything I came across but nothing helps.
Flipkart denied the replacement as this is not an issue of phone (according to them!)
Certainly everyone lost their hope and no one is even talking about this now!
If someone has found any solution please help!
?
Bro go to service centre they will replace the touch panel. Why flipkart? That is just online store and nothing not a service centre of a phone.

Flipkart because my product was under replacement policy.
Mi service center denied for screen replacement as this issue was in "Third Party Apps" not in the hardware. Those guys don't even understand the problem.
Guess there's no way now.
Selling the device is the only option.Which is not happening soon
Don't Go For This Device

I was in Same Situation (Nvt panel) i lost all my hope and stopped playing pubg but then i tried twisted kernel with old touch driver that didn't entirely fixed my problem but it did improved my experience. Then next day i downloaded miroom based on miui11 port. This rom fixed all the touch issues of pubg/fortnite. but i don't guarantee this will work for everyone because touch issues is a hardware problem and will not be fixed by kernel/custom rom.xiaomi must admit it is hardware problem and open the door for a replacment. Xiaomi Making Fool of us Indians.I will never buy a Xiaomi phone again, ever!

I tried miui11 port as you mentioned. Didn't work for me. There's always crosshair jump in pubg. Tried twisted kernel driver. Didn't actually work. Can you please specify the version of touch drivers you used?
