hi
i've noticed that gmail often stalls when pulling down messages, like on a folder for around 1-2 minutes, but if you kill the app and open it then it loads everything straight away. is that a bug or normal because it's waiting for another sync interval?
thanks

For some reason recently my Vibrant gets stuck with the sync symbol on (white circle with two circular arrows). Sometimes it stops my text messages from sending or receiving, today texts are working (for now).
The symbol is the usual one that comes up when Gmail is syncing, but mine has been staying on for hours at a time and I believe interrupting on normal phone functions, anyone have any idea what it means and why?
Samsung Vibrant rooted with a few bloatware removed (a week before this issue started) Nandriod backup and a few irrelevant apps.
Whats going on here???
Go to sync settings, click on your google account, uncheck things you don't want to sync.
Uncheck calendar just in case.
Go back and cut off auto sync.
Reboot
Sync icon gone?
Go back and cut on calendar and auto sync.
Did it work?
I see the sign next to the calender and it may be where my issues are coming from. Now that I think of it all this happened right after I upload a ton of scheduling crap to my google calender via the phone (bored in class) one day. I will check to see if everything is loaded and go ahead and remove the auto sync. I do like having my crap sync automatically though. Sigh another thing I have to give up on the Vibrant vs my old slow MyTouch 3g
This thing also eats the crap out of my battery, I get 12-16hrs of battery life depending on use, with this sync on I get less than 8hours.
Hi guys,
Very odd problem with the Mail application on my Thunderbolt. Sometimes it refuses to automatically download mail and sync during peak times and the only explanation I can think of is that the system is in power save mode even though I have power save disabled.
-Auto-sync is enabled
-Background Data is enabled
-Power saver is totally disabled
-Update schedule is set to Every Day and within the peak times.
-Not using juice defender or task killer
-Stock android.. just did a clean install with the MR2
-Set to 15 minute intervals, 8am to 11pm peak time.
I'm pretty savvy with the android system and honestly am at a loss as to the reason why this happens. I can sometimes fix it by toggling the background data and sync multiple times but I do not have a clear cut solution yet.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
I have seen people have problems with synching while using task killers that have an auto-kill mode and people who use Juice Defender.
Yep, not using a task killer as those are proven to be useless
What about Juice Defender, do you use that? Also you listed that you have your synch schedule set for everyday during peak times...do you mean once a day on peak times or what interval do you have it set as?
Do you notice any other app that uses an internet connection malfunctioning during the day?
15 minute intervals during peak times. My peak times are 8:00am to 11:00pm. I don't really notice any other app besides mail malfunctioning. But then again I don't really have any apps that use the internet. Facebook seems to be giving me notifications on time. It's really just the mail app which refuses to update automatically. Some tinkering around and syncing all seems to sometimes fix it but i have no clue how. Such an odd and annoying problem.

You don't mention what you are trying to sync with the mail app, but I had the same problem with my Incredible and exchange. After deleting and restoring my settings 4 times, I bought Touchdown for $20 on the market and have never looked back. They offer a fully functional 30 day trial. If its exchange you are trying to sync, its the way to go.

It's actually a gmail account i'm trying to sync. I think it's a problem with the mail app since i get facebook notifications on time. Very very frustrating. The mail app just refuses to sync properly.
So for the last few days I've been getting the process google.process.gapps force close. I read the other thread about this problem and it seemed related to the bookmark syncing, so I took off all of the syncs and then synced them back up (other than the browser) and the problem continued.
Today I turned the tablet on, and now when I open the browser it pops open then immediately disappears every time. I am also getting force closes for anything that syncs just as gmail and music without even opening the apps...just force closes keep popping up so I could barely even do anything (even after I took off every sync again).
I'm sure there is a pretty simple solution to this, but does anybody have a suggestion?
Have you tried clearing data and cache from the GAPPS?
After shutting it down last night out of frustration, it seems to be working fine today even though I tried that same thing last night.
Strange...but if it happens again I will give that a try. Thanks.
Guys I'm using RemicsFireEel JB rom 4.2.2 from Remics and I have a weird problem with the email app. fortunately earlier this evening it was working and atleast 15 emails went in from different accounts after i opened it, strangely i haven't been receiving notifications this weekend but it was probably because of the push settings. As I cycle around the accounts in the email app it suddenly went to say "Waiting for sync" for atleast 5 ~ 15 minutes and I couldn't access the other accounts as well, I tried rebooting, force stopping and even disabling and re enabling the app but still no good... any suggestions?
While I know it is normal that the phone should sleep and close whatsapp web every now and then, on my new Galaxy S9+ it is far more common than it used to be with my S6. Sometimes it stays offline for about 20 minutes, but I get messages coorectly on my phone. The only way it seems to wake up is to open the app, open a conversation and wait for a few seconds for it to refresh.
The app is already on the not monitored list in the Battery options. What could I do to make this work better?
It is happening very consistently. Usually everytime I try to send a message it becomes offline for a few minutes and then suddenly it sends them altogether.
