Flash a new rom - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed CM11 about 3 months ago and it worked well. But about a week ago my phonejust didn't go any further than the s3 information screen that comes at start up.
I tried rebooting it but no effects. Then i tried to flash new roms but in every rom CWM showed errors and i couldnt install any. Any suggestions?

Flash back to a stock rom via odin then try another rom or use the one you have been using. Sometimes you can't flash one rom over another.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.

To flash via odin you will need original samsung USB cable and Odin3.9 or 3.0. Download stock rom by searching on Google DOWNLOAD STOCK FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 I9300. After download open Odin if u are using odin 3.09 then u will get option AP then u have to flash via that....If u are using latest version u will get option PDA...so flash via that.
If u got success.....hit thanks:good:

What isn't working? Did it flash successfully but not boot? Just do a factory reset. If it didn't flash completely, then you have to let us know what happened before it failed.

Ok, so typically when people say they flashed a rom, that means a custom version through a custom recovery. But you said earlier you tried to install through Odin. This is an important distinction. If you tried to flash a custom rom and it didn't work, then flashing the correct stock firmware through Odin will resolve. If you flashed through Odin and it gave you that warning, then you need to find the right one and re-try.

Yes, flashing the original firmware via Odin should get you working again.

will it work if i used samsung kies recovery
Possibly, but if the system had already been modified, I find Odin to be a more reliable fix.

Unable to enter into TWRP Recovery Mode

Firstly I rooted my S3 for the first time & flashed using TWRP to Galaxy S5 Mini Custom Rom. And then because the rom is too laggy for me, I decided to revert to the original stock rom. As I did not have a backup, I specifically went online to download the official stock rom 4.3 @ sammobile (right one). I flashed the official stock rom by download mode using ODIN IN MY PC. Everything went well, phone works perfectly for everything. But now the issue is, I am unable to go into TWRP recovery mode even though I have re-rooted my phone/installed recovery tools from playstore after I have flashed the official stock rom, I was wondering could the main reason be that I did not un-root my S3 first before flashing the official stock rom via ODIN. Could this be soft brick?
Thank you for your time.

Flash twrp again with odin this should solve your problem you will need the openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.0-i9300.tar version here >> http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/i9300 <<
Never ever use rom manager with a Sammy device. Risk of loss of recovery or brick is high.

I'm assuming you are trying to flash stock rom with odin? Have you repartitioned your S2 in the past? If not have you tried to download the stock rom again or a different stock rom and try again?

Hi!
Problem solved.
Yes I had tried to flash a 4.1.2 stock ROM via ODIN 3.09. It seems to be the USB drivers with some problems... I changed the pc and cable, and it worked flawless, only one attempt with same ROM and version of ODIN.

Download stock rom from sammobile.com. Don't worry you can flash it via odin. Pull the battery, wait for a minute. Now insert the battery & boot to download mode(Hold press volume down +Home+ Power key). Now flash the stock rom via odin .
If the phone stays at the screen that says the firmware enountered an error, don't worry. Open Odin, connect the phone, and flash the firmware.

Odin is for flashing the original firmware from Samsung. You should be able to find it here in the forum for your phone. They usually will post it either in the General or Development sub-forums. If you can't find the exact one you need, then you can check out sammobile.com, though it is usually a pretty slow download. You must use the one for your variant of S4 and can be specific to your carrier or region, depending on which S4 you have. You should only use the same firmware or newer.
odin for samsung
i will recommend try flashing a custom recovery like twrp or philz for flashing a custom rom
flash recovery image using odin or any adb boot type commands
also be device specific when u search for rooting or flashing roms to avoid bricking of the device
